The Tech Academy
The Tech Academy is a trade school headquartered in Portland, Oregon that offers full-time and part-time bootcamps online and in-person at their Portland campus. The Tech Academy offers part-time and full-time bootcamps in computer programming, website development, cybersecurity, game development, mobile development, data science, front-end development, tech marketing, and tech sales. The immersive experience aims to create well-rounded technology professionals, and also gives students the option to take the course at their own pace. There are also no set starts dates or rigid scheduling. Students can enroll at any time, study from home, and choose whatever study schedule they would like.
The Tech Academy’s bootcamps cover topics including computer science fundamentals, programming basics, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, C#, Python, Bootstrap, jQuery, React.js, project management, Agile, Scrum, MVC, version control, Java, and more. Each bootcamp also includes a Live Project, where students gain real-life experience to add to their resume as well as job placement assistance.
None of The Tech Academy's bootcamps require any tech background or experience. To apply, applicants need to take an IQ test with logic-based questions (to ensure applicants can read, write and perform basic math), followed by an admissions interview.
The final part of every The Tech Academy bootcamp is the Job Placement Course which covers interviewing skills, resume writing, where to find tech jobs, and gives students access to job placement staff who assist students in landing technical positions.

Fantastic bootcamp. Got a job!
I really really loved this bootcamp.
I knew almost nothing about programming or web development prior to starting. The way the bootcamp is laid out builds from one concept to the next. The instructors make sure you fully understand each fundamental before moving onto the next which makes sure you really get the basics of programming.
After a few weeks of graduating I got a job as a web developer at a digital marketing agency.
I was nervous that I wouldn’t know how t...I really really loved this bootcamp.

During my time at the Tech Academy, I learned a lot; they got a lot of drills to help you be a better developer, they support you every day even on weekends. Awesome Introduction for Beginners
I am a recent graduate of The Tech Academy (Python Bootcamp, Full-Time, Online) and I have absolutely no complaints with my experience and time with this great program. From the beginning of your first course, it is very apparent that the instructors and staff care greatly for the students and treat them as humans and not just a number in the system. All of the instructors and staff I interacted with were extremely respectful, kind, and helpful with anything I needed. And their comm...I am a recent graduate of The Tech Academy (Python Bootcamp, Full-Time, Online) and I have absolutely no complaints with my experience and time with this great program. From the beginning of your first course, it is very apparent that the instructors and staff care greatly for the students and treat them as humans and not just a number in the system. All of the instructors and staff I interacted with were extremely respectful, kind, and helpful with anything I needed. And their communication was very timely and informative, as I rarely waited long for a response to an inquiry. The curriculum is heavily geared towards beginners, as opposed to many other boot camps I researched who claimed the same thing, yet required a coding intensive "acceptance exam". This is not the case with The Tech Academy.
I had previously taken a few college computer science courses before entering this program, so I had a bit of a head start, but I have left this boot camp knowing more and having the ability to do much more than before. I was able to refine and improve my skills with CSS, HTML, JavaScript, and SQL, among others, thanks to the informative courses and detailed assignments. While I cannot speak for the other boot camps The Tech Academy offers, I can say that the Python Bootcamp is more geared towards Web Development. It is a great intro for anyone who is a beginner or looking into getting into web development, with a little bit of software development mixed in. Although, if you're looking for a more software/algorithm based curriculum, you may want to look at the other boot camps offered. Many of the intro courses you're given in your boot camp, are covered in all of the other boot camps as well and this ensures everyone at least knows the basics of coding and development by the end of their curriculum. For anyone looking into the computer science or coding world, even the most beginners of beginners, I can't recommend The Tech Academy enough. I scheduled to attend The Tech Academy March 23rd of 2020, saved up my money, and put my two weeks in at my job to spend 6 months off before the COVID pandemic happened. It was coincidental timing with my plans but worked out in my favor. I moved out to a small town in North Florida and immersed myself in the curriculum. I spent 40+ hours a week studying remotely and pushing myself to take in as much as I could during my work hiatus. It was totally worth it. This boot camp was fantastic. It starts you off just clearing up a ton of technical terms that without them you would be lost. Best Educational Experience of my entire life
Best educational experience of my entire life- I did the Software Developer Bootcamp, absolutely worth my time and money. I was really happy with the quality of the courses, the instructors, and the flexibility of the program. Another thing I liked quite a bit was the progress bar showing how close you are to completing the bootcamp- the dopamine rush that came as you slowly inched closer to 100% was a reward in and of itself. I had a personal emergency and had to take time off of workin...Best educational experience of my entire life- I did the Software Developer Bootcamp, absolutely worth my time and money. I was really happy with the quality of the courses, the instructors, and the flexibility of the program. The only thing I didn't like was the job placement course, I found the job placement director to be rude and unprofessional. The instructors at Tech Academy are all very accessible and knowledgeable, they've even gone through the program themselves so they know what you are working on. They even have a job placement course that teaches you all you need to know about applying, interviewing, and technical testing to get a job. It was so different and more intense that I can experienced in my previous job searches. The job placement team is amazing at backing you up, giving advice, and just general support. They really want you to succeed!

Assignments force you to think and work out solutions - much of the time on your own - which is good to a point. My only grumble is that the teaching videos are very unpolished, with no index or menu system, and minimal video controls, which makes it very time consuming to review previous sections or to find or search for talking points. I believe they are working on fixing these issues. The school really cares about your success, however, and is very responsive in helping you with any issues that may be holding you back.

Great Experience
The Tech Academy C# & .NET Framework bootcamp was a great way to get started in the tech industry. I learned all the basics for HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, and C#. Great program for getting you started on learning a new skill and introducing you to the job market.
I started looking into doing a software development boot camp at the beginning of 2018 but was always unsure of whether or not it was worth the time and money given the fact that they are still a somewhat new concept. When researching, I noticed that all the camps had a very different approach in the way that they teach, their thoroughness of subject, and the curriculum itself which is largely user regulated with reviews since no standards have been set by any official organizations....
I started looking into doing a software development boot camp at the beginning of 2018 but was always unsure of whether or not it was worth the time and money given the fact that they are still a somewhat new concept. When researching, I noticed that all the camps had a very different approach in the way that they teach, their thoroughness of subject, and the curriculum itself which is largely user regulated with reviews since no standards have been set by any official organizations. After reading hundreds of reviews I settled on a few choices to pick from but ultimately decided to enroll in The Tech Academy for a few reasons.
For one, the camp was offered almost completely online for students to be able to complete all over the world, and they had the option of going to a campus located near me in Renton Washington whenever I wanted help or needed a work friendly environment. The ability to complete the program online with the option to go to a campus was something I was really interested in and the fact it was online meant I didn't have to quit my job to work around it. The Tech Academy also had been reviewed quite well and the graduates seemed to have a good opinion of it. Finally, The Tech Academy had a well-rounded curriculum that I thought would be the most beneficial for giving me real-world skills that would be marketable when it came to getting hired such as JavaScript and .NET Framework training.
Ultimately, I'm very glad that I ended up choosing The Tech Academy for one major reason. The people and instructors that I worked with were truly top-notch individuals who care about your learning experience and want to see you grow successfully as a developer. I worked mainly with the two instructors from the Renton campus Michael and Zachary, and the job placement director assigned to me, Chris. These guys are rock stars and ALWAYS made themselves available when I needed help. They also exhibited patience, care, kindness, and a desire to see their students succeed. I owe a lot to these guys as they taught me a very valuable and difficult skill which is not something easy to do for beginners in coding. They alone made every penny I spent on the boot camp worth it.
My one major criticism is that the curriculum changes rapidly in order to constantly be upgrading it and making it better. This is bitter-sweet as it does mean they're always working on making it better, but it also means that the curriculum is sometimes ahead of the instructors and you might miss something they added after you had already completed that section. The good news is that once you graduate, you can always go back as you only get cut off from the online learning system if you don't graduate.
A major thank you to The Tech Academy staff from the bottom of my heart. You guys did a great job and I am forever grateful.
My advice for individuals thinking about attending a coding boot camp:
1. You'll have a lot of people and articles tell you a lot of negative things about boot camps. I.E. "It's a scam", "You can't learn to code in a short amount of time", "You won't get hired without a bachelors in CS", etc. I suggest ignoring all of this because in my findings these people have not only not attended a boot camp, but have also never even met a person who attended one in most cases. Additionally, I have found most of these criticisms to be flat out incorrect. Only you and you alone can make the decision if a boot camp is right for you. Personally, I was very hesitant at first, but am very happy I ignored that and completed the boot camp. It was a great experience, I learned a great deal, and don't regret a second of it. Worth every dollar and hour.
2. It will be very very difficult. I know you think you know how difficult it will be, but chances are that you're underestimating it. I worked part-time while attending so might have had a harder experience than someone who wasn't working at all, but either way, it is going to be very hard and you need to be mentally ready for that. It's full of emotional ups and downs and there will be things that take hours if not days to actually understand properly. Expect to have to do this full time and give it undivided attention.
3. DO RESEARCH. As mentioned above there are a ton of boot camps, and there is no regulation on them. Some of them are probably not very good, so read reviews, call the school armed with many questions, and read as much as you can about them online.
4. Treat the camp like a gym membership in the sense that you're only going to get out of it what you put into it. No one can learn these skills for you, and the instructors are not miracle workers. The onus of learning is on you and you alone. They provide you with the tools, but you are the one that has to use them to your advantage.
