I recently completed a cybersecurity bootcamp, and while the overall experience was positive, there were some challenges along the way. At the start of the program, instructor support was fantastic, with quick help available just a phone call away. Midway through, however, the support system shifted to email-based assistance, which led to longer wait times—sometimes over an hour. This change made it harder to make the most of my study time and created some frustration, though the instructors remained helpful once I could get in touch with them. Thankfully, this was not an issue during the Live Project, where the director was very accessible and provided great support. On the coding side, the program was very hands-on, giving me plenty of opportunities to practice and build a strong foundation in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and SQL. The projects really helped cement my understanding and prepared me well for real-world applications. However, when it came to the cybersecurity portion, there were too many videos and not enough practical exercises. Although the videos on front-end security, cloud security, and network security were informative, I would have preferred more hands-on experience with tools like Wireshark. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to work with Wireshark until the final live project, and earlier exposure to industry-standard tools like this would have made the cybersecurity training more effective. That being said, the job placement support was a real highlight. I received excellent guidance with resume reviews, interview prep, and job search strategies, which made me feel much more confident as I began applying for roles in the tech industry. Overall, while I would have appreciated more hands-on cybersecurity training and more consistent support, the bootcamp provided a solid foundation and helpful resources for transitioning into tech.

After enrolling in Tech Academy's Cybersecurity Boot Camp, I have been astounded by the program's effectiveness. Despite my limited prior knowledge of computers, the boot camp provided me with a comprehensive education in operating systems, networks, virtual machines, and other essential concepts. As a result, my understanding of cybersecurity has significantly improved, giving me confidence in my ability to pursue a career in this field. One of the things I appreciated most about the boot camp was the hands-on learning opportunities. I was able to work on real-world projects and simulations, which helped me to develop the skills and experience I need to be successful in the tech industry. The staff at Tech Academy was also incredibly supportive and knowledgeable. They were always available to answer my questions and provide guidance, and they made sure that I had the knowledge and skills I needed before moving on to the next topic.Overall, I had an amazing experience at Tech Academy and I am excited to start my new career in the tech industry. I would highly recommend this boot camp to anyone who is looking for a comprehensive and hands-on learning experience in cybersecurity.

The Cyber Security Bootcamp through The Tech Academy not only taught cyber security content but also taught software development and basic computer concepts to make sure you have a good foundational knowledge before diving into security concepts. This makes it a good bootcamp for beginners. Even if you are not a beginner, it is a good way to solidify your foundation at the start to make sure you are able to accurately explain the basic concepts. The instructors were easy to contact and were always ready to work through the problems you were facing when you needed to. They even have a job placement team that will work with you until you are able to find your first job.

As someone who had zero computer science, coding, and cyber background, I was open minded to learn new things and I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to follow the curriculum. I was very thankful at how helpful my instructors were as well! I liked the way the coursework was set up because they give you the foundation first before learning more concepts and that helped me understand it better when we got to it. They really prepare you for the real world too; learning how to properly research and ask for help were key because there were times where it was outside of instructor hours and I was able to figure out my problems by utilizing my resources. I did the fulltime online option and it was fast paced with lots of information. If you can manage your time and work about 40 hours per week then it will be okay! Overall I loved the experience!

A bit about me: I came to this program by way of a career change and a non-technical background. I knew that I wanted to transition into cybersecurity for the remainder of my professional life, but I didn't know where to start really, as I didn't possess any deeper understanding of computers and information technology beyond that of an average user. What I found in the Tech Academy was the perfect blend of independent study and accountability. Being in my late 30s and having already gone through traditional undergrad and graduate programs, I knew how to study, I knew I wanted to work from home, but I also thought that I would benefit from a structured curriculum vs. piecing together online resources while hoping those covered the basics. This balance was struck by the team at the Tech Academy. I set my own schedule, I could spend as much or as little time on the topics that were covered depending on my own comfort level with the material, and I was provided with an amazing foundational understanding of how computers and networks actually work. This introductory course helped immerse me in the language of the field and helped me better assess my own areas of weakness and the gaps that I would need to fill in before fully committing to a career in tech. I really appreciated this approach to the TA's curriculum. They assumed nothing and covered everything at a reasonable pace, providing additional resources if needed, as well as an incredibly supportive and response team of instructors who reviewed your work and provided feedback nearly instantaneously. This level of accountability and encouragement was truly invaluable, as it helped me overcome my fear of being an "imposter" and feel valued as a recent tech graduate who is armed with the right knowledge to begin a new career.

Fantastic review!
Graduate 2022
This course does a thorough job of going from the basics of technology, all the way to the specifics of a particular career field. This is a self-paced course with an incredible amount of content. The course is set up so that if you fall behind, you can catch-up without a penalty. It does a good job a touching on a broad spectrum of topics to get exposure to what's out there. The best part is towards the end when you get to start applying all the basics that have been taught over the weeks. It doesn't just teach theory, but gets you working with applications that are standards for your field. The instructors are attentive and will spend all the time it takes to get your questions answered. The course is career oriented with everything culminating to applying for jobs at the end of the course. Some of the weekly perks are technology lectures from veterans of the industry, and practice for job interviews. You need to have well-established study habits in order to get through the course. If you fall behind too much, it can seem daunting to catch-up. A lot of the evaluations for the sections in the course are open-ended essays. You can skimp on the assignments and still pass, but it will make things more difficult as you progress. The more effort you put into learning the content during the course, the much easier the final evaluation will be.
