The Tech Academy

Overall I had a great experience at the The Tech Academy. I recently graduated from the Software Developer Bootcamp. I am currently working with Job Placement to get hired. I learned many programming languages and frameworks and graduated with plenty of knowledge and experience to get hired in the field. Tech Academy has a robust curriculum that can take even the most novice students with no coding experience and give you the tools to be a legitimate developer. They have very encouraging and motivated staff that are ready and available to help out when needed. This was a very intensive program(that is the whole point of a Bootcamp) where you must really be dedicated and willing to put in the time and effort to succeed. With so many lower cost options The Tech Academy can get quite expensive. That being said, there are so many lower cost options that you may dip your toe into the pool of software development but The Tech Academy is really a one-stop shop if you are really serious about being a full-fledged developer. Their curriculum is very extensive. It at times can get a bit repetitive with some of the content but also it is a way to really make the information sink-in. In 2022, I made the decision to pursue my lifelong dream of making video games. I started small—learning Python through free online courses—then quickly dove into Unity and C#. By 2024, I took the leap and enrolled in The Tech Academy's Game Developer Boot Camp to fully commit to my goal of mastering Unity and Unreal and launching my own indie games.What I didn’t expect was how much more I would gain along the way.Beyond game development, the program equipped me with a full-stack skill set—front- and back-end development, UI/UX design, database management, computer science principles, .NET with C#, and mobile app development. I’ve always considered myself a creative person, but before tech, I didn’t have a solid outlet. One of the biggest advantages of The Tech Academy’s program is that it’s self-paced. I was able to move quickly through the material I already understood, and take my time with concepts that took a bit longer to click. The instructors were always available when I needed support, offering quick, helpful guidance without ever making me feel rushed.What I especially valued was how the curriculum emphasized learning how to learn—how to research, troubleshoot, and teach yourself new concepts. That’s been crucial not just in school, but in preparing me for a future in tech, where self-teaching is a lifelong habit.

Cons*
That said, the self-paced format requires real commitment. No one’s going to chase you down or hold your hand—you’ve got to want it. There were times when the material was tough, motivation dipped, or life just got in the way. But pushing through those moments taught me resilience and built the kind of discipline you don’t always get in a traditional classroom.If you’re ready to show up for yourself and put in the work, this program gives you everything you need to succeed. Like many of us looking to advance our careers and finding ourselves searching quick programs, I compared a few different companies looking at prices and reviews. I will always be grateful I chose The Tech Academy for a number of reasons. I gained confidence that software development was in reach for me and the courses I took walked me from knowing next to nothing to feeling I could actually work in a career as a software developer. Beyond the courses I have been impressed with the job placement staff at The Tech Academy.
I finished my short boot camp two years ago and their staff is still interested in helping me find a career. After enrolling in Tech Academy's Cybersecurity Boot Camp, I have been astounded by the program's effectiveness. Despite my limited prior knowledge of computers, the boot camp provided me with a comprehensive education in operating systems, networks, virtual machines, and other essential concepts. As a result, my understanding of cybersecurity has significantly improved, giving me confidence in my ability to pursue a career in this field.
One of the things I appreciated most about the boot camp was the hands-on learning opportunities. I was able to work on real-world projects and simulations, which helped me to develop the skills and experience I need to be successful in the tech industry.
The staff at Tech Academy was also incredibly supportive and knowledgeable. They were always available to answer my questions and provide guidance, and they made sure that I had the knowledge and skills I needed before moving on to the next topic.

The Tech Academy is a great place to start your journey in software development. I recently completed the Software Developer boot camp and I couldn't be happier. It starts off with basics of computers and how they work. Then you get into the basics of multiple languages like Python, JavaScript, and C#. The job placement course is amazingly helpful with creating your resume and cover letters. The only con is that the course gets a little repetitive at times. The projects that you create give you great fundamental information and room to expand your knowledge. The job placement staff are incredibly helpful with tips on applications and how to continue to improve your skills.  Read less

I had prior experience with programming before I joined this bootcamp and the main purpose was to add and reinforce knowledge. Needless to say, the bootcamp exceeded the expectations. Yes some things are repetative and even if you know something well you can't skip it (which did end up pretty annoying sometimes). I took the online course, but my advice would be to to the bootcamp in-person if possible (you'll get more connections and a physical place you go to). You do learn, computer basics, computer parts, binary and base system, web design, web programming, console applications and finally dynamic web applications with an database backend that you need to program with. A best course I went through so far was Job Placement, as a former Intervert with Imposter Syndrome, I consistently thought I was under-qualified and yes, in some cases I was, but it really changes your mindset and provide feedback on what to improve and do mock interviews too. I am likely to go back to the school for additional training in other areas. Read less

The Cyber Security Bootcamp through The Tech Academy not only taught cyber security content but also taught software development and basic computer concepts to make sure you have a good foundational knowledge before diving into security concepts. This makes it a good bootcamp for beginners. Even if you are not a beginner, it is a good way to solidify your foundation at the start to make sure you are able to accurately explain the basic concepts. The instructors were easy to contact and were always ready to work through the problems you were facing when you needed to. They even have a job placement team that will work with you until you are able to find your first job. Read less

I learned so much during my time with the Tech Academy. They start out covering computer fundamentals and terminology, and end with building real programs! I did the remote part time option so I could do this while working and I will say it takes serious time and commitment. But the instructors are so helpful anytime you feel stuck or unsure and I felt supported the whole way through. I went from knowing nothing at all about computer programming to have full stack knowledge! I now have a whole portfolio and a website to take with me into my job search and the job placement team is very helpful. I can't wait to start my career in the tech field. Read less

Through my months of study and work at The Tech Academy I went from having scattered knowledge about computer technologies to fully understanding the fundamentals of how computers work, and hence learning to program them much better. While every computer language is written a little differently and may have its own strength and weakness, this Tech Bootcamp has taught me how to think like a developer so that I can teach myself any technology that I require for my future work. You can learn a lot on your own online, however it is unlikely that you will happen to research all the subjects required since you don’t know what you don’t know, and you won’t know what order to go through the material in grade of difficulty.After progressing through the school my expertise in Unity and C# increased greatly, enabling me to develop a sophisticated finite state machine for an enemy AI. I developed the project in 2 weeks and added it onto my portfolio website.

I took the Game Development course with the Tech Academy. At first it was going really well. I was learning a lot and was able to apply a lot of what I was learning in my real life. I appreciate that they taught me from the ground up. It really allows you to be able to understand the reason things are done the way they are and how it all works. I started with computer science, went to web development and dabbled in databases and bootstrap and other smaller courses. This was the best part of this course. It was time for game development. 
I was very excited to start game development and was ready to go all in. I start the course on Unity and C#. It was going really well when I was learning the C# language and then the learning of Unity started. Suddenly I was directed toward a different website to learn the basics of Unity. This website is called PluralSight. Pluralsight charges $22 a month to use. I already paid about 11k for the course and was told to go to this other site to learn Unity. 
You can see what happened there right? They didn't have any curriculum for Unity Basics and didn't feel like making any so they send you to another site that costs a tiny fraction of what The Tech Academy charges. I brought this up several times during the class because I was extremely put off by it. I could have gone to this other site and done this myself for way less than I paid for the game development course.
I'm glad I learned what I learned but I am really disappointed in the gaming course in specific. I don't think it's ready and it's obvious.  Read less

• One of the biggest challenge in self teaching  is having structure in your progress but the tech academy handles this extremely well from start to finish. 

• The minimum requirements for passing projects in each course can sometimes be very basic but the more you put in yourself, the more you get out of the process. 

• Live projects and having instructors available to you when hitting road blocks was a huge plus because it gave me a sense of working on a team and that I was not alone on my journey. 

• A lot of reading and videos throughout the courses that I felt I had to power through to get to the good stuff, which to me is the problem solving and hands on coding.

This is a fantastic Boot Camp. I went in after losing my job, just married and having only done Sales. I was good with Technology but anything with Programming or Development was foreign to me.  I explored quite a few Boot Camps and chose this one due to its location, pricing, (a bit pricy BUT WORTH it) and teacher involvement. The program really focused on helping you develop the skills needed to think like a software developer. It provided an easy road map to gauge my progress and simple steps to go through the different projects and lessons they have. Almost all material that is shared is authentic and created  by The Tech academy, which made me feel more like I was taking a unique program instead of a copy paste of third party video's like other boot camps have done. The staff was really quick to help me work through the projects and where always around when I had questions (even on the weekends I'd get answers sometimes). By the end of the course I not only felt a little more knowledgeable about programming languages BUT I felt that I could confidently think like a programmer especially when facing situations or challenges that where beyond my knowledge. I would definitely recommend this bootcamp. The instructors were always a phone call away if I had any questions and never made me feel stupid or like I was bothering them. I feel like I have a good basis for coding, even though I came in with no experience. I'm currently in the job placement phase and feel like I'm getting the support I need to land a job.  Read less

Personally I recommend this school to anyone who is thinking about a career in technology. They teach you so much and actually want you to succeed. I enjoyed how please they were to help if you needed, anytime I did ask for help I was never made to feel not enough. They have a great teaching system. My live project would be the highlight of my time there, it was honestly one of my most favorite experiences. I learned so much and it really gives you the experience you need. They help you in any way they can. As a mom, it’s convenient to be able to make my own schedule that worked for me.  Read less

As someone who had zero computer science, coding, and cyber background, I was open minded to learn new things and I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to follow the curriculum. I was very thankful at how helpful my instructors were as well! I liked the way the coursework was set up because they give you the foundation first before learning more concepts and that helped me understand it better when we got to it. They really prepare you for the real world too; learning how to properly research and ask for help were key because there were times where it was outside of instructor hours and I was able to figure out my problems by utilizing my resources. I did the fulltime online option and it was fast paced with lots of information. If you can manage your time and work about 40 hours per week then it will be okay! Hello, I am a very recent graduate from the Tech Academy and let me just say.. What an amazing experience! I have learned so much throughout this boot camp, from the basics of how a computer works externally/internally to how to use and run a database. I took this boot camp because I wasn't sure if college was the right path for me and I knew I wanted to get into tech I couldn't believe how amazing it was, from the knowledge I learned to the great instructors who helped me even the silliest of questions. This is a great school and coming from someone who completed it and is very happy with the results I couldn't recommend it more to anyone who is even slightly interested in going into tech. 10/10 experience!
