The Tech Academy
The Tech Academy is a trade school headquartered in Portland, Oregon that offers full-time and part-time bootcamps online and in-person at their Portland campus. The Tech Academy offers part-time and full-time bootcamps in computer programming, website development, cybersecurity, game development, mobile development, data science, front-end development, tech marketing, and tech sales. The immersive experience aims to create well-rounded technology professionals, and also gives students the option to take the course at their own pace. There are also no set starts dates or rigid scheduling. Students can enroll at any time, study from home, and choose whatever study schedule they would like.
The Tech Academy’s bootcamps cover topics including computer science fundamentals, programming basics, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, C#, Python, Bootstrap, jQuery, React.js, project management, Agile, Scrum, MVC, version control, Java, and more. Each bootcamp also includes a Live Project, where students gain real-life experience to add to their resume as well as job placement assistance.
None of The Tech Academy's bootcamps require any tech background or experience. To apply, applicants need to take an IQ test with logic-based questions (to ensure applicants can read, write and perform basic math), followed by an admissions interview.
The final part of every The Tech Academy bootcamp is the Job Placement Course which covers interviewing skills, resume writing, where to find tech jobs, and gives students access to job placement staff who assist students in landing technical positions.

A necessary first step
I'll be honest. In hindsight I could have tried cheaper ways to become a programmer/software developer, but I don't think it would have made me dedicated enough to make it. So there is something to be said about investment of money and time correlating with dedication which is also stressed in the bootcamp.

The live project was the best part for me of the experience because I actually had to make my hands dirty and prove myself that I can do it and I was working in a team.
The C# and .Net Framework course helped me also to get into PHP (being somewhat similar to C# in syntax), which is what is required of me right now on the job.
Overall it is a good bootcamp which gives you an initial push towards the world of software development. If you don't like this course because it is too hard and give up, you also won't like programming, where you might feel like giving up every day. But there is plenty of encouragement and practice interviews for newbies like me and it can be done and you too can find a job.

The Good:

They are knowledgable and almost always available to help you when you have questions. But not only that, they do not just tell you the answer, instead help you work through the issue. This little piece is what creates good developers as you learn the skill of active problem solving.
Meetups and round tables! Every week, students are able to take advantage of workshop activites, such as practice interviews which help build student's confidence in answering interview questions, and solve whiteboard code questions. Along with that, every friday The Tech Academy has a different guest speaker to talk about different fields in the tech industry.
The Bad:
In all honesty, the hardware provided if you don't have your own laptop is a bit subpar. Each desk has a monitor if the student wishes to have a second screen. However, they are rather old and the resolution is not all that good.Conclusion:
I really do reccomend this bootcamp, and any faults that it has are minor and can be over looked. Especially with it's extra curicular resources like the instructors and workshops. Great courses and staff
The Tech Academy C# & .NET Framework bootcamp was a great way to get started in the tech industry. The course starts with the most basic computer information which is great for someone like myself with no prior knowledge. The exercises you are given along the way are not only a great tool to show real life application of what you are learning, but they also serve as great experience to use toward your personal portfolio.

Worth Every Penny
The schools staff and instructors are easily approachable and eager to help. It's obvious they want you to succeed, which is very encouraging when working through some of the more techinical courses. As a remote student there was never a time my call wasn't picked up by one of the remote instructors, and the job placement directors were constantly emailing me lists of open positions to apply for.

Working as part of a live team for one the final steps of the training is a lot of fun - I was remote, but felt present and definitely part of the group with my contributions and daily check-ins.
Although I wasn't able to utilize the job placement assistance to it's fullest extent (I was taking this course to prepare for an inter-company movement), having gone through the exercises and material, I felt that it was top-notch, providing structure/tools/goals for the students.

Great Experience, Would reccomend
Great overall experience, was able to get off the ground running with my programming skills and be employed within 3 months of beginning the program. The Live Project portion of the program was by far my favorite, and where the Academy really shines. The Tech Academy and it's staff care about your success, and will help you as much as they can in order to succeed in both the curriculum and afterwards. For me I had planned on trying to finish the bootcamp a little quicker to go on a trip before the summer, but things happened and they were kind enough to make an exception, but overall it will be the best benefit to do the content thoroughly and at as fast as pace as possible.
Content wise, overall it is very good, and is updated often, there was some restructure as I did it before they split it into these more specific C#/Python tracts. It could be different now, but I do wish there was more emphasis on Algorithms, especially considering many companies interview based on your knowledge of such things, and problem solving as you go through the interview rounds.
Coding is not easy, finding your first job is especially not easy, but the Tech Academy will give you the right foundation and they do really want you to succeed. Since the campus in Seattle is newer and not as established, they don't have as many connections to local companies as say, their main one in Portland.

The most surprising part of attending The Tech Academy was how much I learned after I graduated and started my career as a software developer. I feel like The Tech Academy really set me up to succeed by being able to learn any new technological concept quickly. An excellent experience
The Tech Academy does a great job at staying in communication with the students throughout the process, building a support network and sense of community from day one. The course content is good but the most important thing I learned from the boot-camp is how to learn, meaning I can grow my skills better even without the school.

You can't just copy code and learn. You have to DO it.
The instructors were very helpful, I never had to wait long for the answer to a question or to get feedback on essays or code reviews. The real gem though is the Live Project. Getting a feel for what development is like in a team setting/job simulation was invaluable and invigorating.
The course isn't easy. Finding jobs isn't easy. But if you're willing and able to take on a challenge with your whole heart and mind, I can tell you that the rewards are there. With the help of The Tech Academy, only you stand in your own way.

Everyone I spoke to at The Tech Academy was nice and helped me when I was stuck. Being a remote student, I would watch the lecture and if I got stuck on a challenge I was able to reach a remote instructor via email or by phone. I felt like this gave me a glimpse into what a remote job would be like because in most cases you will get a piece of a project and work on it yourself but if you can always ask someone for help.
My favorite part of the course was the Live Project. I live in a small town and I was able to get an internship at a local web marketing company. It took some time to coordinate my internship because I had to plan it around my work schedule. Everyone at The Tech Academy worked with me to get my internship scheduled and provide the company instructions on what I needed to get from my internship. The Tech Academy also provides a job placement director who helps you find a job by providing mock interviews, feedback after the interviews, help with your resume, and sending job post emails. This was what helped me choose The Tech Academy, because if you put the effort into learning to code and you want to succeed in coding, they can help you start your career.

Amazing Experience
I attended and just recently graduated from the Tech Academy. I was able to work a full time job AND keep up with the coursework by opting for the part-time local student option. Even with my somewhat limited knowledge of coding, what they proved is all it takes is the drive to learn, to succeed.
The idea of their program is to really get you into the mind of a developer. You will be challenged, you will get slightly frustrated, but ultimately, you will learn. The instructors here ...
