Overall a Great Experience

I started with the Google certificate first but needed a bit more guidance so I signed up for Avocademy foundations instead. Honestly, it's a very solid foundation program, especially the mentor support and feedback that do provide a more in-depth understanding if you are having trouble with certain topics. The Speaker series and office hours they provide were exceptionally educational. Though, the only negative I want to point out is that there is a chance of running into misunderstandings in the wireframe part of the program with mentors in explaining your design. Luckily, the program is very receptive to feedback and makes improvements to better students' experience constantly. The curriculum is pretty fast-paced if you are also working full-time. It took me a total of 6 months to finish the program, and I struggled hard during the first few months since I was working full-time. Overall, I learned a lot and the program set me up to pursue UX/UI further.

Great experience

I started avocademy to change careers and had a great experience and learned alot from all of the mentors in the program. I started foundations in October of 2022 and am currently about to finish the career Jumpstart course. I highly recommend avocademy for anyone looking into a ux/ui design career. Avocademy allows you to have a pretty flexible schedule and learn at your own pace.

Phenomenal learning environment

This course has done wonders in teaching me to becoming a better UX/UI designer. The boot camp goes above and beyond to make sure students understand the material whether it be from one on one mentor calls or extra resources.

Amazing Experience

I knew I wanted to learn more about UX/UI Design & didn't know where to start until I stumbled upon Avocademy on TikTok and Instagram. After looking over the website and the easy pay plans I knew this was the place for me, the Foundations course provides you unlimited access to mentors and resources to make sure you feel comfortable with your work. I left the Foundations course feeling so much more confident in my UX/UI skills and enjoyed the course so much that I entered Career Jumpstart. If you're questioning whether or not Avocademy is the place to learn UX/UI design, just do it! You won't regret it.

UX/UI Design Avocademy Bootcamp!

This bootcamp has been a blessing in disguise. I love how it prepares you for the field by teaching you how to deal with criticism and imposter syndrome, and most importantly, by helping you keep up to date with the best design practices out there. The interaction with the mentors has been really beneficial and encouraging. If you're thinking of trying out Avocademy, do it! They have tons of resources and ways for you to make this career change.

Beginner friendly but also the curriculum prepares you for the industry properly

I jumped into the Avocademy UX/UI Foundations Bootcamp with zero knowledge. I only knew it was "tech" related. So, I went in completely blind. But, after going through the curriculum, it provided me with in-depth knowledge in "easy-to-digest" portions of lectures. Mentors are always available to answer the student's questions. So, it actually makes it harder to not be able to understand all UX/UI basics. The lectures and mentors will also prepare students for real-world situations while working as a UX/UI designer.I highly recommend this boot camp to whoever is interested in this field or want to make a career change.

Amazing experience!!!!

For those who are curious about becoming a UX/UI designer, Avocademy is a great place to break into tech!! They provide numerous mentors who are there for you whenever you feel lost or uncertain about any topic! The material is so easy to understand and as a person who does not have a background in tech, I was able to achieve success with the course! I absolutely LOVE the community!!! There’s unlimited support, endless material to better understand your field, motivational speakers, an amazing community to rely on, and everything was done AT HOME at my convenience. As a person that has a busy lifestyle, this was my biggest plus. I am now in Career Jumpstart and I am so happy I decided to take this path with the Avocademy team by my side!! I cannot stress that I would not want it any other way!!

Totally worth it

The Avocademy UX/UI foundations course is an excellent and accessible introduction to UX design, surpassing self-led online courses in terms of mentorship and structured learning. Having tried both approaches, I found that the guidance from mentors and the pressure to complete projects and assignments on time created a conducive learning environment, particularly for newcomers exposed to a wealth of information in a new field. This course serves as an ideal opportunity to gauge one's interest and aptitude in UX design and offers invaluable insights, even for those not pursuing design specifically. Continually refining itself to enhance student learning and relationships, the course boasts exceptional grace, patience, and expertise, providing an inviting introduction to the world of UX. The Avocademy experience has had a significant impact on my career direction, with the completion of this milestone being a tremendous asset in my professional journey.

A manageable firehose experience

I used Avocademy's Foundations program as my starting point for learning UX design. The program provides a great background on best practices and patterns, with a variety of materials such as videos and articles that provide a broad perspective. The assignments allow ample room to practice and apply what you learn. The mentorship is critical here - receiving immediate feedback after assignments and along the way helps fine-tune your knowledge base and contextualize what you're learning. While sometimes the feedback can be very picky, it shows itself by getting a big return on the end design. I gained a lot of confidence throughout the program by going through the revision process and learning how to present myself to design mentors. I even remain connected with a few of those mentors outside of the program. The Career Jumpstart program (different from Foundations) is even cooler, with the chance to work with real clients and teams of other students. It seems daunting at first, but once you get going you realize how much you actually know and how prepared you are to tackle UX projects.

If you are looking for a valuable and impactful experience look nofirther

I recently finished foundations awhile back. It started when I was looking into starting a career transition. That’s when I found Avocademy through research. I was really looking into finding a more fulfilling career. The course materials are thorough and easily to understand. Foundations definitely prepared me to get an understanding of what UX/UI is all about.Key Takeaways from Foundations:1. The mentors are there to assist you whenever you are feeling stuck or confused2. The 1 on 1 mentor sessions really do help and assist you when you need the guidance to move onto other course materials3. The program is really what you make out of it and your dedication to it4. With all the learnings it really sets you up for success whether or not you come from a background in UX/UI design 5. Actually one of the-more affordable online bootcamps out there. Overall, it was a great learning experience! And I definitely feel I gained a ton of learnings that would set me up for success! I recommended everyone to join if they are looking for a rewarding experience. There is also career jumpstart where they assist you for a job search which is very useful if you got no connections or network in this field

Great stepping stone!

I just finished the Foundations course with Avocademy and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I made use of all the resources that the course offered and was able to step into UX. I'm currently taking the Career Jumpstart part of the program and working my way to gaining more experience and knowledge. In the foundations course, there's a lot of independent work but each task that you do is followed with mentor support. I didn't make use of it enough at first but after meeting with one mentor, I realized that I could be scheduling 1:1 meetings to recap or review, not just when I needed help. When I started to do this, I learn so many more things that I didn't even realize. The mentors, whether novice or experts, had so much to share; each meeting I learned new tips and tricks. The course itself is well organized and structured; they set it up so that anyone, from any place in their education journey, can start and learn. However, it is not easy, you do have to commit to it. To get the best, you have to put in the time and work but in turn, it rewards you well.

UX/UI foundations

After looking around and debating for several months, I am so glad I decided to enroll with Avocademy foundations for UX/UI. It was a great learning experience. The way they have Split up the course is so easy to understand and learn for people from various background. I really enjoyed the course. And would recommend it to anyone who is interested in learning UX/UI. It is also very affordable compared to so many other bootcamps in the market.

Affordable, Cultivates Success, Would Recommend

Avocademy condenses what I needed to know about UX/UI. What I love most is they focus on APPLYING what I've learned to create my first project in my portfolio. Also, a lot of people don't talk about the mentors enough. They're accessible, respective of my time, and always there to improve my projects or show me Figma tricks/tips! (P.S This boot camp is BY FAR the most affordable)

Wonderful, Invaluable, and Supportive!

I recently completed the UX/UI Foundations course and am now in the Career Jumpstart program at this bootcamp, and I have to say that it has been a truly wonderful experience. The resources provided by the bootcamp have been invaluable in helping me make the transition into UX, and I feel like I've learned so much already.
The instructors are knowledgeable and supportive, and they really go out of their way to make sure that everyone in the program is getting the help they need. The curriculum is well-structured and engaging, and I appreciate how much effort has gone into creating a truly immersive and effective learning experience.
Overall, I would highly recommend this bootcamp to anyone looking to break into the field of UX. It teaches you everything you need to know to get started, and it provides you with the resources and support you need to succeed. Thank you to everyone at the bootcamp for such an amazing experience!"

They won’t let me cancel enrollment

This boot camp refused to cancel my enrollment. I tried to cancel BEFORE I had to make payments for the course and the woman refused to help. Now I’m stuck paying for something I don’t want.

Past refund date, per agreement signed at enrollment.

Hi! I'd like to clarify our sign up and refund flow. First - when you sign up you agree to the terms and conditions, once you sign up you are sent an enrollment agreement which you are required to read and sign. This enrollment agreement clearly includes your last cancellation date. If you request a refund before your last cancellation date you are able to get a 100% refund.

Best decision

Signing up for Avocademy was the best decision I've made in a really long time. You're presented with a self-paced module course, suitable to all different learning styles, and reminded each step of the way where to reach out if you need additional support. I took advantage of the unlimited mentorship, scheduling multiple calls weekly, and each mentor I can came in contact with was extremely kind, talented, and helpful. I feel confident that the Foundations course was the perfect entry in to the UX/UI world, and I'm excited to see where Career Jumpstart will take me next.

SCAM- Wasted Money/Horrible

Recently paid $1900 dollars for this program and then fell sick and wound up in hospital. When I tried to resume my courses- didn’t even get past 2 courses- they locked me out and said they would not adjust program despite medical records/evidence.Not only did I waste so much money on this, but the staff was so rude and money hungry they didn’t care. It would’ve taken nothing for them to let me do the program I paid for but they refused. I am warning everyone of this horrible experience and money wasted on this non accredited fake program. Literally could learn more on youtube (which they point you to anyways). BEWARE- go with a real, accredited school/program.

Outline of communication with Avocademy team

Hi Rebecca - I understand that you are unhappy with the outcome of your enrollment. I'd like to remind you that the enrollment agreement you signed was for an 8-week course. The team went above and beyond to accommodate your many requests to resume. Below is an outline of the communications with our team.

  • In March 2022, the student let Student Success know she'd be out for 2 weeks, and Student Success said we'd extend to accommodate the absence.
  • Student Success processed the extension in April 2022. Rebecca then let Student Success know she couldn't work and Student Success advised her to request a pause. The student never requested the pause.
  • The student was then marked inactive in July 2022. She emailed us and we confirmed we would reinstate her access to mentorship if she was ready to resume the course.
  • The student didn't respond then reached back out in September 2022 and asked to resume in November 2022. We gave her instructions on how to resume the course with mentorship access.
  • Then in November 2022 the student said she could not resume as previously requested and wanted to resume in February 2023
  • I made the student aware that she could resume in February 2023 but that she would only have access to mentorship for 6 weeks based on her original start date and encouraged her to resume earlier than February 2023.
  • The student did not reach out to resume in February 2023 as she previously indicated.
  • The student reached out on April 7th, 2023 and was denied her request to resume as more than a year had passed since her original start date.

You Get What You Pay For

Avocademy is $2k.  Their career program is $5-6k.  Bottomline: Don't be fooled.  Avo is a numbers game.  They have more students than they can accommodate.  They have revolving Mentors, so you never get the same one or personalize time to get clarification on assignments or their kickbacks.  I defended myself as a student, that I wanted to learn & taught; not barked at or just told what to do.  Changing careers, I wanted to make sure I knew my stuff.  But Avo saw that as being a difficult student & not receiving mentor feedback professionally.  So wanting to learn is negative.  Got it.  Also, they change their progress as they go, even after you already paid & signed up for what you thought you did.  The career Jumpstart is not a sure thing students get into SO DON'T BE FOOLED! They surprise you with a design challenge as part of the career application & depending on how you do, they decide whether you're accepted or not.  This is NOT how they promoted their school when I first signed up.  Avocademy is new & they, like I said, change their rules & requirementas they please despite what was said in the beginning.  Lastly, the student success? It depends.  So long as you're not "asking for too much support" then they're there for you.  I'm sorry, so student who want to learn material vs not understanding what they're doing plus asking for guidance & using the school's resources that a student pays for is "needs too much support." This is why Avo denied me for the career program; I wanted to learn "too much" & I one-star reviwed Mentors who refused to explain their reasons for kicking back my work, instead just told me to fix it.  Period.  Nonethless, I passed the design challenge.  I actually paid a tutor to help bc half of the challenge wasn't taught in the program; they stated this but wanted to see how students do & make their decision from there.  How's that fair? And why isn't it transparent from the beginning before someone pays? Avo is a numbers game.  They talk a good talk.  They have more students than they can handle so asking for guidance that's rightfully due to a student is NOT what they like.  What the owner, Maca, said to me was "needs too much support" & "difficult to work with" bc I kept demanding to understand & learn what I was doing wrong & why I was fixing it.  This is a career change for me.  Why wouldn't a school who claims to care about their students, not want to empower their students? So beware.  Avocademy is NOT what they seem to be.  They only are if you make their life easier bc they're trying to climb the ladder as a company.

Career Jumpstart Admissions Process

Hi Monique,

I understand that you are upset because you were denied admission into the Career Jumpstart program. Admission to the program is based on 3 things: your performance in the UX/UI Foundations program, completing the application to the Career Jumpstart Program, and your Design Challenge. This is outlined in the UX/UI Foundations program at the beginning, halfway through and at completion.

1. Regarding your performance in the UX/UI Foundations program, you were not penalized for asking questions or wanting to learn "too much". I privately shared with you 4-5 quotes from mentors that stated that you refused to apply the feedback given to you in the course.

2. Regarding your application to the Career Jumpstart Program, in the application itself you stated that it was a "pain in the a**". The admission team deemed this unprofessional.

3. Regarding your Design Challenge, we are very lenient in grading the challenge. In the lesson that contains the application, we link you to the resources (in the course) that explain the advanced concepts of components and autolayout. The design challenge addresses: alignment, consistency, and your understanding of components and autolayout. It also requires you to record a video explaining your work - as we like to gauge your ability to explain design decisions. In this video, you once again started by saying "I'd like to start by saying this challenge was a pain in the a**" which was also deemed unprofessional.  With all that said, you did not pass the design challenge portion of the application. Lastly, paying someone to help you complete the design challenge is against application rules and stated in the application.

We understand your frustration but we have a commitment to all the students in the Career Jumpstart program to ensure that each student that is accepted can contribute equally to each project.

AMAZING UX/UI Design Bootcamp

After doing lots of research on UX/UI design bootcamps, I chose to go with Avocademy. I am SO HAPPY I did! It was an amazing experience from start to finish, and I didn't have to spend thousands of dollars. I learned how to complete a project from start to finish, learned all the foundational skills for UX/ UI Design, and ended with a finished project added to a portfolio. One of the things I liked best was having access to mentor support whenever I needed it. Most bootcamps don't offer that, and it is so important. There is a lot to learn about in this field and it is nice to be able to get help from an expert when you have a question or are stuck on a design issue, etc. If you are looking to get into the field of UX/UI, I highly recommend Avocademy!

Foundations didn't lie!

Avocademy Foundations course did exactly what it claims. Giving students all the tools and resources needed to jump into UX/UI design. On top of that an insanely incredible community of students and mentors. I am being grateful I chose this bootcamp.
