UX/UI Design Foundations

I had a wonderful experience taking Avocademy Foundations and whole-heatedly recommend this program.  It is a challenging course and did take me a little over four months to complete (I also work full-time) but I learned a tremendous amount. Also, I contemplated learning UX/ UI design on my own.  I’m very happy though with my decision especially because of the mentorship it offered.  I think it was important for me to follow a formal course and have some skin in the game.  There is no way I could have grown as much or been challenged (in a good way) without taking a formal program. I’m now in the Avocademy Career Jumpstart program and  working on my first group project. I’m looking for to getting through this phase and start job searching.

The course is what you make of it! There are always mentors available to help, and they do a good job of making sure you are on track to complete the course. If you are self motivated and are interested in seeing if UX/UI is for you then this is a good place to start 

When I enrolled into Avocademy's UX/UI Foundations course, I honestly had very little knowledge of what I was getting into, but the coursework and mentorship structure was incredible! By the end of the program, I decided that I loved UX/UI so much that I signed up for their Career Jumpstart course which I just started this week!

Avocademy UX/UI Foundations was a great experience!  They do a great job at easing you in, but overtime the course's structure lets you work more independently and be more creative.  There are so many mentors to help assist with any questions you need throughout the whole course and I completed the course with a portfolio I love! 

I had the pleasure to get my UX/UI Design certification through the Avocademy program. My experience was great , I love the details in the content they provide us to ensure we understand how to move forward with any activity. The mentors go above and beyond to make sure you are on track and are able to explore to new methods. I myself found it easier to always ask mentors for help and reassurance that my design is on track. Thanks to the program and mentors I found new ways to design. This program along side fundamentals is a great way to expand your horizons in design.

Avocademy Foundations course has changed my life! As a veteran teacher, I was hesitant to pursue something so outside and beyond my comfort zone. But I took the plunge, and I did it! It took me about three months to finish the foundations course, and I'm currently a member of the Career Jumpstart program where I'm learning advanced skills and getting to work on actual client jobs. What I appreciated the most was the feedback from the Mentors that Avocademy has. I really needed to hear from people who have "been there, done that" and currently work in the UX field. 

This was a great foundation course for UX skills. The curriculum is very up to date on industry best practices and full of helpful resources. I learned a lot and got lots of hands-on experience in all steps of the design process.

I recently completed Avocademy's "Foundations" course, and it was such a transformative experience that I couldn't resist signing up for their "Career Jumpstart" program. Also, if your goal is to secure a job in UX/UI I recommend you do Career Jumpstart as well, as this is where the fundamental transformation happens. Avocademy truly exceeded my expectations.The "Foundations" course was an incredible starting point. It provided a solid understanding of UX/UI design principles and set the stage for my journey. The instructional videos and resources were instrumental. The mentors at Avocademy played a pivotal role in my learning experience. They serve as instructors and mentors who answer questions and provide valuable feedback until you master it. One of the highlights was working on my foundation product (a conceptual app) from start to finish. This hands-on experience allowed me to apply what I had learned and see the direct impact of my skills. It was gratifying, and I'm currently in my second week of a client project as part of the "Career Jumpstart" program. This practical exposure has been invaluable in preparing me for a UX/UI design career.The affordability sets Avocademy apart, especially with all you get. There's also the seamless transition into the "Career Jumpstart" program. This continuation course has been a game-changer for me. It perfectly complemented the foundational knowledge I gained and is taking my skills to the next level.Moreover, the program helped me realize how transferable my skills were. Avocademy equips you with technical skills and teaches you how to adapt and apply them to various design processes. This versatility has been invaluable.I also want to mention how evident it is that Maca, one of the founders, is incredibly passionate about the program. Her calming demeanor when instructing and her dedication to the success of each student is truly inspiring.Another aspect I appreciate about Avocademy is its focus on providing exposure to various software tools used in the UX/UI industry. They also offer a wealth of resources to ensure you're well-prepared for your career.In fact, I'm so impressed with Avocademy that I've decided to sign up for their design masterclass to keep my skills sharp since soon I'll be starting the interview process. For those interested in UX/UI but unsure if they want to commit, Avocademy offers an opportunity to try it out through SkillBud, a fantastic way to dip your toes into the field.It's also worth mentioning that the resources and genuine connections I see within the Slack Channels from other students, graduates, and mentors are absolutely heartwarming. They are always there to help or uplift you, lol whichever you may need at that moment.Overall, Avocademy has been one of the main reasons for my success in my transformation into a UX/UI designer. I say "ONE OF" because many people who see their viral TikTok videos or Instagram reels think they'll magically make you a designer. They give you ALL the resources to do so, but YOU have to make the decision to show up, take feedback, FAIL, do the work, and keep learning. It's not easy, and anything worth having isn't, but it is POSSIBLE. If you're trying to transition, Avocademy is undoubtedly where you want to be.

This boot camp taught me everything I needed to know. The mentors are very responsive, and help you every step of the way. The only issue I had was after I finished the boot camp my portfolio wasn't large enough to really grab the attention of employers. Other than that I highly recommend the course.

It's the opportunity to learn skills that can expose you to new challenges and opportunities that will change your way of thinking. I've personally fallen in love with the course because I've struggled with being in a classroom setting my entire life, but being able to work online at my own pace has grown my confidence in learning. I'm beyond grateful to everyone at Avocademy for taking the time to help me understand what UX/UI is. 

My experience here at Avocademy in the UX/UI Foundations program was nothing short of amazing!! Foundations provides a wealth of resources throughout your learning experience. I was most impressed with Avocademy as they went as far as having you take a quiz that classifies what your particular learning style is so that mentors are able to better assist. I have had previous mentors in different programs (trading, real estate) as well as attended quite a few institutions of higher learning, and this was never taken into consideration. Also, the level of consideration and guidance that you receive from mentors is bar none! This experience has exceeded my expectations, so much that I chose to move forward, apply, and continue my journey to their second program, Career Jumpstart. With all that being said, upon completion of Career Jumpstart, I will soon be in the position to transition from the mental health field to tech. I would most definitely recommend this program to anyone that looking for a career change or to break into tech!

My experience was amazing. I love how thorough the boot camp is and how helpful the mentors are. I also really like the timelines they set and how they help you meet them. At first I was skeptical on if I would succeed in this field but after going through the course, day by day I grew more confidence and the mentors were a lot of help with that. 

I'm currently in Career Jumpstart after completing the UX/UI Foundations program and can easily attest that this has been a life changing experience for me.  Not going to lie, I was hesitant when finding the ad for Avocademy through social media because I wasn't sure how credible this program was.  However, what I wasn't hesitant about was getting out of a career I was miserable in before and wanting to explore a creative outlet of a job that I could see myself actually looking forward to having a future in.  The mentors are amazing, the breakdown of the modules are extremely helpful, and because of all this I've been able to easily retain all the information I've learned so far in the program.  Thank you Avocademy for giving me hope in my future career!

Avocademy is a fantastic program! The mentors are real-world professionals who teach you not only the nuts and bolts of the job, but also how the industry works and what to expect in the real world. 

I had a pretty frustrating experience with Avocademy. Last year when I was in-between jobs, I thought I'd give UX a shot and signed up for Avocademy since everyone seemed to rave about it. However, just two days after the withdrawal deadline, I got this awesome job offer in a completely different field. I knew right away I wouldn't have the time for the course, so I asked for a refund. I mean, come on, I barely missed the deadline and hadn't even started the darn thing! But they were totally inflexible and flat out refused to give me my money back. Instead, they offered me a six-month extension. Six months went by and I was still swamped with work and had zero time for their course. I reached out again, hoping for a refund or another extension, but nope, they shut me down. The whole experience with the Avocademy team left a sour taste in my mouth. They couldn't spare an ounce of empathy or goodwill. It's safe to say I won't be recommending them to anyone.

This course was great; they explained everything very well. Mentors are always willing to help you with any questions you may have. Learning a new career and switching is nerve-wracking, but once you finish this course, you will feel more confident in continuing your design career journey. I highly recommend this boot camp course.    

I thoroughly enjoyed this bootcamp. Its flexibility worked wonders for my busy schedule. The knowledge I gained from this course has been invaluable. I am delighted with my decision to complete it. If I, a single working mother to a toddler, was able to finish this course within four months, anyone can.

I was a recent grad in May 2023. I loved how Avocademy was casual yet provided expert level knowledge. It didn’t feel too robotic in a sense where they treated me like a real person/student they’re mentoring. The mentors always gave me helpful feedback and were willing to ask all of my questions no matter how silly. There were some things that I wanted to offer as constructive criticism to Avocademy, but I noticed they already changed those things. I notice Avocademy is always adapting according to their student’s needs and to me they feel authentic

I was a teacher and needed a change. I completed Avocademy's Foundations UX/UI Design course and then decided to continue with the Career Jumpstart program. The combination was an incredibly valuable experience. The Foundations course was a lot of information to study and it was foundational information. The Career Jumpstart course was key to helping me gain real-world experience and build an impressive portfolio. I was very prepared for my web project manager job, which includes design work and project management. I am able to bring the most current industry standards to my new role. In both courses, there was unlimited access to mentors and people who were encouraging and offered feedback. It was hard to learn all the information and to put in the hours but it was worth it.
