Great intro course

I had seen reviews over a period of time while skimming through online learning options for various computer-related jobs. I have no IT, programming, or website development experience. I'm just a proficient laptop/internet user. The 4-week basic course was well done. It requires time to study, learn new terminology, and pay attention to details.

Very good

Overall, the 4 week HTML, CSS and JavaScript boot camp is excellent as an introduction. I learnt a lot and got to make several projects. It is worth the money for sure. The material is presented professionally in a very digestible way. But it is just an intro, so it is not enough to start a career.

Very rewarding

What led me to NuCamp was the idea of a career change.  I've always been interested in anything IT and NuCamp was a great way to get my feet wet at a very affordable price.  After I finish with NuCamp I hope to apply what I've learned to be able to further my goals in getting a job that will work for me and my success in the future.

Web Fundamentals Review

I enrolled in NuCamp because I wanted to start my journey of becoming a software engineer. I previously had experience in Graphic Arts and I've always wanted to learn the back end of things of how everything works on the computer. I never thought I could actually learn it for the sake of difficulty. The HTML, CSS, and JS course has provided me with enough knowledge that I feel comfortable enough to continue to move forward in this career. David was an amazing and helpful instructor. The videos provided throughout the course I found to be a little dull because of the type of learner I am. It was a little difficult to follow along sometimes.

An Excellent Investment

I found Nucamp just browsing thru a Google search, looking for someway to learn how become a Software Engineer or Web Developer. I am so glad I took a chance with Nucamp. I have learned so much in such a short period of time. I will continue to learn with Nucamp because I believe Nucamp has demonstrated the ability to effectively and adaquately equip me with the skills I will need to succeed.

High Recommend

Just finished The Web Development Fundamentals - HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, for beginners. I have taken these in various forms from Pluralsight, Udemy, etc. The course contains just the right amount to get the basic understanding in manageable chunks. Provides additional resources if you want to dig deeper. The live video class provides a great overview of the week's work to help cement the learning and ask any questions. Accountability is a great motivator. Highly recommend. Onto the NuCamp Back End Dev Ops for me.

Great for Beginners

I decided to enroll to NuCamp because it was very affordable but after taking the course, i believe it was a great decision. I took the four-week web development class and i really enjoyed it, the instructor was very thorough and helpful as well. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to get into web development.

HTML, CSS, and JavaScript Course

Nucamp is really inexpensive compared to all the other bootcamps I looked into and because I have literally no prior experience in coding the HTML and CSS portions were really detailed and helpful but for the JavaScript portion I fell behind really quickly and became overwhelmed because they didn't go into great detail about all the new words and skills they were addressing. I felt totally discouraged by a lot of the Javascript videos. The instructor (Roger), however was incredible helpful and patient and made the money worth it. He spent extra time with each student and though he couldn't help me with everything (because there were several struggling students), he was really great! Overall, I think Nucamp needs to provide the following for future students:
Glossary for each chapter
Options for purchasing a text book
A coding for Kids or dummies guide
A text book that will be provided to students a few weeks before the course starts so that they may review it a bit

A form with the office hours for each instructorList of other instructors to reach out to if your instructor is not available

Exercises and resources to look at in between courses In between the beginner course and the front end courses there is a 3-week gap, which is plenty of time to forget everything you learned

Helpful Introduction, WORTH IT

So far, I have completed the Web Development Fundamentals course by Nucamp, which covers basic HTML, CSS, and then an introduction to JavaScript. It's just 4 weeks and spends roughly the first 2 weeks on HTML/CSS and the second 2 weeks on JavaScript. I plan on continuing to take their series of courses for the full software engineering bootcamp path experience (Dev Fundamentals, Back-end, Full-stack, and a Job Hunting course). I felt that it was a great structure for an intro development bootcamp/course, with videos, exercises, challenges, Slack engagement, and an instructor you can contact during the week and who teaches the class over Zoom for 4 hours every Saturday during the course. It allows great schedule flexibility especially if you're working during the week. I felt a good combination of flexibility, while still having structure and having actual live instruction. It is actually around the same price to do the full bootcamp (4 courses in a row I listed, about $5400 if you pay as you go for all of them together) as it is to do a similar full-stack web development course I had previously considered - that does not have live instruction. The live instruction is invaluable to me so I went with Nucamp and so far I'm glad I did! My instructor for Fundamentals, Madeline Ward, was great. She made the material interesting and engaged with students on a human level. While you could absolutely teach yourself these topics with free materials on the Internet, that goes for any bootcamp or paid course in web development, but you should seriously consider Nucamp if you need a less-expensive-than-most bootcamp with guided instruction for accountability.

Fundamentals course not worth it

This is my first bootcamp and I am about to graduate from the fundamental course this week. I did lots of research on bootcamps and was always told that they were going to challenge you and that you have to invest lots of time into the course. I was able to complete the whole week's coursework with projects included in a single day. Each week you have a 4 hour live class where the instructor just walks through the week's project with you all the way through and then you turn in the assignment afterwards. I did have a basic understanding of HTML and CSS going into the course but I figured we would do more with HTML and CSS than the bare minimum. There isn't much of a challenge and I am glad I decided to take the fundamental course instead of doing the full path as I feel like I wasted my money.I have no idea if the other courses are great and challenging but I can't take a chance of wasting a lot of money on a course that is basically one of the self-paced, free bootcamps you find on the internet. The instructor was amazing and was always willing to help students that were having issues. If it wasn't for the instructor I would have rated the bootcamp course a 1 or 2. The videos are so dry and the narrator will put you to sleep so I decided to just go and read the JS documentation instead and basically do my own research on topics and even make my own spin on the assignments to challenge myself. The instructor was great and didn't fail me on assignments for not just completely the assignments with the very basic requirements that we were given and actually liked us to go above and beyond.TLDR;If you know the basics of HTML and CSS and just need to learn Javascript, I would just skip this class. Maybe try their front-end class and see if that was challenging for you. Coursework is very basic and you can complete a week's work in one afternoon and the class is setup to hold your hand and not challenge you like bootcamps are meant to do from what I have read. I might look at another bootcamp to do Full-Stack tracks as I am unsure Nucamp's other courses can offer a quality I would like based on what I saw in this fundamental course.

The 4-week bootcamp is tailored for beginners

Hi Jacob, thank you for your review.
We would agree with you that the 4-week introduction to HTML, CSS, and JavaScript bootcamp is tailored for beginners and that more advanced learners like you may go thru it much faster than intended.
I hope that the last two weeks of JavaScript gave you a challenge though and that you enjoyed these assignments.
I'm glad you found our instructors amazing, and I wish you good luck in the future, hopefully with us!

Great program for busy work/life schedule!

Nucamp has been a great introduction back into the world of coding after 10 years. I took some coding classes in college many moons ago, and have not coded in about 10 years. So I started with Web Development Fundamentals to get back into it. I think that was the right choice, and I think that Nucamp was the right choice for me. The structure of the program works well with my busy work/life schedule, and makes it very manageable with the expected time dedication and the course content. The instructor for my course was very helpful and knowledgeable, and the weekly content was broken up into very digestible chunks throughout the week. I hope to continue my success in this program as I continue into the Back End program and then onward to the Full Stack, and hope to be among the many to land a Software Engineering position after completion. I highly recommend Nucamp for anyone that has a full schedule like myself. Or anyone for that matter, since I feel that anyone can do this and succeed with how they structure their program. Very well done Nucamp.

Hands down best coding camp

Nucamp has been a blessing in disguise’s. Great course work to prepare you for a potential role. I had an amazing instructor in Kayla Miller who I see as a mentor now. I also plan on pursuing full-stack going forward.

My experience

I enrolled in Nucamp because I wanted to seek out a new career path, and Nucamp was the most affordable and available option I found while searching the web. Nucamp helped provide the right learning environment for me, giving me plenty of time to work a full-time job and still come out of this feeling like I learned everything I needed to. The content was thorough, and the instructor was definitely knowledgeable and always ready to answer any questions. I really enjoyed my time with Nucamp.

Awesome Experience

I just completed the Web Dev Fundamentals and I had an amazing time and learned quite a  bit.  If you come here with a want to learn you will learn.  You will get what you put in to it.  My instructor, Alicia, Pearse, was knowledgeable and extremely involved.  The other instructors pop in to help everyone in all classes as well.  I would also like to add that Ludo is 100% dedicated to this program and the community.  He provides weekly meetings called campfire.  These are available to everyone even if you don't attend NuCamp.  I start Full Stack next and am excited for that even more so after completing fundamentals.  Thank you NuCamp!  You are awesome!

Web Fundamentals Review

i went into NuCamp with very little experience in html and css, but this course taught me greatly how to use html and css. Javascript is a whole other level of difficulty but dont let that scare you away from this. It was fun to see things come together when they worked. My instructor was nice and everyone was friendly

Excellent Experience

I just finished the Web development fundamentals course and was initially nervous as I am changing careers after 15 years in Business Finance and HR.  My instructor was fantastic, the material was easy to follow and the support from the school staff was outstanding when needed.

I was initially drawn to Nucamp because I was looking for an affordable option that didn't skimp on the courses and this was exactly what I hoped for. I'm excited about the coming camps and to continue learning.

Basic, good for begginners

It is a good starting point to learn web dev with nucamp especially you do not know where to start and feeling lost watching tons of tutorials. But it  was not enough time to learn fundamentals of javascript in 2 weeks and i think there should be more exercises and workshops to grasp the subjects. Overall it is good bootcamp for the price.
