Web Dev Fundamentals

I would highly recommend anyone who wants to learn how to code give Nucamp a try! I'm brand new to coding and just completed the HTML/CSS/JavaScript Fundamentals course. It was good lesson and high quality. The instructor was great, knowleageable and very helpful. I enjoyed my experience in this cours. So I'm going to signing up more for Full Stack course and hopefully one day I will land on my dream job.

What led me to enroll in Nucamp was the ratings received from people who have been enrolled in Nucamp and the affordability Nucamp provides.

Took the Nucamp html CSS JS fundaments course

I enrolled in Nucamp to take this course with my girlfriend (she is changing careers during the COVID pandemic to stay safe). My girlfriend has little no knowledge of software development and little experience using a Microsoft Windows PC.I have already worked in software development (as a test engineer not as a software developer) for over 20 years. We both took the course and graduated.  We both feel the course is a good value for the money invested.  The course was laid out very nicely and we both learned a lot.  Both of us are already signed up to take the 'Nucamp - Full stack development course next'.The one thing that we would like to see in the course is Nucamp not jam so much content into each week and spend more time on the harder concepts like traversing the DOM, etc.The Nucamp html CSS JavaScript seems to be well worth the money (price is just right) for the learning instruction that you receive.

Web Development Fundamentals

I have wanted to get into web development for some time and did a lot of researching. When I was finally able to devote the time needed. I decided to give NuCamp a chance, and I am so happy I did. So much, so I am also taking their backend course followed by their full stack.

Web Development Fundamentals

This was an awesome experience and really glad that I chose Nucamp!  I just finished the Web Development Fundamentals course to see if this is a field that I would like to pursue further and I am glad to report that I would!  The live instruction Saturday workshops is what really sold me on Nucamp.  I found it really helpful to have that weekly review with an instuctor and to work on projects together.

The Best Decision I've Made This Year

I signed up for Nucamp's Web Development Fundamentals course to find out if pursuing a career in web development would be right for me. The price point made it an easy decision to commit myself for 4 weeks to see if I would be invested enough in learning to code in an online/hybrid setting. I was so impressed with the material, the slack community, and the instructors, who truly are here because they enjoy teaching. It was also a huge bonus to meet fellow aspiring developers during the workshops! I am continuing onto the Full Stack Bootcamp in a few weeks with more confidence than I knew was possible less than a month ago.

Web Development Fundamentals

For the longest time, I wanted to learn more about coding. After doing my research, NuCamp was highly recommeded among the multitude of bootcamps. I am really excited that I chose NuCamp. The experience thus far has been amazing. I just started with Web Development Fundamentals and that was enough to get the gears turning. I never realize how much work actually goes into the backend. I most certainly have a new found respect for coders/coding and cannot wait to learn more. The instructor was great and made himself available for questions. He also explained everything in detail which helped me to understand better. I have so much more to learn but NuCamp was definitely the right choice! I learned HTML, CSS and JavaScript. No easy feat for a beginner but well worth it.

Html, CSS, Javascript Fundamentals

A very good opportunity to learn the basics of becoming a web developer and working with your peers and teacher to understand the material.  The course was very affordable and informative.  They give tons of extra resources to investigate on your own and you will like hold onto for reference throughout your new career.

Awful Instruction

The weekly learning was great, but the weekend instruction by [name redacted] was absolutely awful. Our instructor did not speak English well and he had no concept of time management whatsoever.  He repeatedly got frustrated with us not understanding him and had repeated issues with his PC and zoom not cooperating with him. He would berate us for "looking bored" and act like it was the student's fault he is a terrible instructor who is impossible to follow. I was very excited for NuCamp and happily paid $400 for this course. I feel like the majority of that goes to the instructor and I am very upset about that. This instructor in no way earned $400 from me. While the week learning was fair for half the price and had a lot of value, the weekend instruction was so awful that I will not be continuing with NuCamp. I feel like I threw money and time down the toilet by going to the weekend classes. If it was not mandatory I would skip them entirely. NuCamp was promoted to me as a great alternative to more expensive bootcamps. Now I feel like I got scammed. It's so hard to understand and follow the instructor and it is just so upsetting.

Web Development Fundamentals

I'm so grateful to Nucamp for creating a program that's both affordable and high quality. I just completed the Web Development Fundamentals program & loved it. I'm brand new to coding, and I can tell you this course was challenging! Nucamp provides lots of additional resources you can use during the course. I spent tons of time on these, and it really helped me understand the information. The instructors were so knowledgeable, encouraging, and helpful. I ended up signing up for the Full Stack program and can't wait to start!

It was absolutely the right decision signing up for Nucamp. My instructor was super informative, and she never made me feel left behind when I didn't understand something. The entire experience was great, especially interacting with other students and having a flexible weekly timeline.     10/10 recommend.

Nucamp Fundamentals Review

As someone completely new to coding, overall I am very satisfied with the Fundamentals course I took, especially for the price. I felt there was a lot of great information that was structured relatively well. I think trying to learn these basics on my own would have been much more difficult without the direction this course provided, as I would have been much more scattered. While I wish they had a bit more hands-on exercises during the CSS and first JavaScript week, they do include quite a bit of helpful resources to fill in the gap that offer some great examples. While the course was only $350, I feel like like what I learned is certainly up that value, if not more, and there's not much else I could really ask for.

Fundamentals Course

I joined the Nucamp fundamentals course to help me remember all the stuff I've forgotten over the years, and learn about all the things that have changed.  For a fundamentals course it does a good job touching on all the basics.  Since I had never used CSS before I wouldn't have minded going a bit more in depth there, but with limited time I understand why they couldn't.  For a "true" beginner I think this course is paced very well, but for someone like me with some previous knowledge I felt there could have been a little less hand holding and the assignments could have been a little less "cut and paste."My instructor was great and was able to answer all my questions.  Being able to do 90% of the work on my own time was a real plus for me.I really look forward to moving on to the next class.

First time reviewr for Nucamp

I wanted a new career path. One that was more stable and would provide a higher level of finiancial freedom. I also did not have the time and money to attend an in-person full time camp. This was perfect because it was very affordable and it fits in with my schedule.

It really is a great investment

Nucamp was not my first choice because I thought, "how can a Bootcamp be this much less expensive than all the others?" I read a lot and asked other students, current and prior, of Nucamp about their experience and I never got a negative response. Ever. Based on my available time and my finances, I decided to try the Web Development Fundamentals course. I needed to brush up on my HTML and CSS and my experience in JavaScript was next to none. Plus, even if I didn't find their methods helpful, I'd only be out a small amount of money. The amount of content required per week was more than manageable, it touched on the basics, and the Saturday class assignment tied up a great deal of what you learned that week. What I found exceptionally helpful were the Slack groups. No matter your question or problem, someone jumped in to answer it or help you through it. Sometimes the help came from instructors but more often it was students who helped out even if they weren't in your cohort or even taking your class. Everyone pitched in.I'm glad I gave Nucamp a shot. Since everything went as well, I've signed up for their Fullstack Web & Mobile Development course. Once I've completed that, I'll be leaving a second and more thorough review of my experience. If you're on the fence, talk to one of their support staff, look up previous & current students on Career Karma or LinkedIn or hit up YouTube and watch an info session.

Introductory course convinced me

I took the introductory four-week HTML/CSS/JavaScript course.  HTML/CSS were refreshers and an update of some of how they've changed in the last ten years since I played with them.  JavaScript was a whole new bag for me and as an introduction, this was fun and informative.  I let my curiosity drag me down a lot of "bunny trails" during the week as I embellished upon the exercises and challenges.  I think that looking things up that we hadn't covered yet helped me a lot.  Sometimes what I was curious about was covered in the next lesson, sometimes I was just learning more advanced stuff because I wanted to do something in my coding that was outside the scope of the classes.  Be curious and you'll do great at Nucamp.  You have to learn.  They can't teach you.  I think some people expected to have Nucamp just somehow implant the information into their brains.  That's just not possible.  You have to be interested enough to search for answers and if you can't find an answer, ask your instructor.  In the Big Wide World, you'll never know everything.  Get used to that now! You will routinely have to look up a function name, or a method, or which attributes can go on which elements.  Things change and lesser-used features will just not stick.  Learn how now, and learn to search for and find the answer as quickly and efficiently as you can.Nucamp is less expensive and less intensive than other boot camps, which makes them more approachable to people looking to change careers or upgrade their skills. The four-week introductory course is a great taste test to see if Nucamp's style will meet your learning need.  It sure met mine!  I will be taking future courses at Nucamp!

Great Price & Quality Teaching

Hearing youtube reviews and the full interview of the CEO with a podcaster on youtube really help me chose Nucamp. Also, it was the best price which was needed since I'm on a very tight budget. I'm a school teacher as well, and another teacher who did the full stack BootCamp was able to change her career and land a job as a software engineer after the 2nd week of ending the Bootcamp.

html,css, javascript intro

I like to say upfront I'm not being paid or will received any incentives for this review. This is optional for me to post. If you're just getting started and want to get your feet wet and have never code before, this is a great introductory course. Granted it's not the most in depth, you can only learn so much in 4 weeks, this does give you the confidence to build an html starter page, intro to css-where to put them(whether internal on the html or external link) and finally intro to javascript. How all 3 are put together to make a website dynamically. I tried learning on my own through free tutorials online and couldn't get pass css, where to put the line of codes etc. This is not the most in depth course, but a great intro course for the money and will get you prepared should you decide to go for the full stack course. Teaches you how to start talking and thinking like a programmer. Yes there are other bootcamp out there more intense and more in-depth, but the prices are also 10 times the cost. For the prices and value, this is a great intro to see if programming or being a web developer is for you, takes only 4 weeks. As of this writing we just finished and wrapped up our final workshop assignment. I signed up for the full stack course and we're given a month's break before jumping into the new course. If you're already familiar with the basics of html, css and javascript, then you don't need to take this intro course and can sign up directly for their full stack course. The full stack course assumes you already have a working knowledge of setting a html boiler plate, knowing how to do internal or external styling of css and javascript. Our class had 12 people so the instructor to student ratio is excellent. This was my first time ever using zoom video conference and first time using Slack which is "facebook/twitter" like text chat program for asking genral questions or posting about job boards or programming help.
