Great course for aspiring designers

I currently work in IT Architecture and was looking for a way to expand my skillset into UX. After some research I decided upon the UX Design Institute Diploma. There were several reasons for this choice, first the course is accredited (which was important to me) and second, I was able to take as long as I needed to complete the course (up to 1 year). This second point was important as having done OU courses in the past I found the deadlines for assignments not always compatible with a fairly hectic work life whereas this is much more flexible. Having completed the course now I can say I've been impressed with the student support, the content delivery and the projects. I would say that this is unlikely to suit someone who isn't ready to be self directed or put the effort in when it comes to the projects, but you could say that of any course.  I also like UXDI's ongoing engagement after the course has finished e.g. career advice interviews, portfolio support and a well managed online alumni community.

Professional UX diploma

I had a great experience at UXDI. The instructors were knowledgeable and passionate about the subject matter, which made the learning process much more enjoyable. Their courses are up-to-date and relevant to the industry, and their hands-on approach ensures that I gained all the knowledge necessary to build a strong portfolio and succeed in my UX design career. I would highly recommend UXDI as a great educational institution for anyone interested in becoming a UX designer!

Fast paced and professional

Unsure of what to expect from a bootcamp like setting for the classroom, my expectations were definitely exceeded. I really enjoyed the live class sessions and option to go back and review the zoom calls if and when needed. Though it is a very fast paced environment, the teacher and TA's were very understanding if arrangements needed to be made for missed classes, late homework and resubmitting assignments. It was important to stay on track since classes were sequenced to follow the last. There were many group working assignments and projects where project management was key and learning to work with others is imperative to this field of work so there were many practice opportunities offered. This bootcamp readied me to complete a professional portfolio, resume and start applying for jobs with confidence. The class as a whole felt bonded and excited for each other and many connections outside of the classroom were built.

Challenging Yet Fun and Rewarding

I was hesitant to join another bootcamp style online learning system, but was sold on it after a wonderful conversation with a program advisor. Once I started, I was greeted by my mentor and tutor, who have been with me since day one and have provided me with a plethora of helpful feedback, advice, and additional resources to read throughout my journey. The response time I get from everybody has been incredibly quick whether it's waiting for an assignment to get reviewed, or if I have a general question about the assignment I'm on or even just UX in general. I've also recently been connected with a career coach, and while our interactions have been limited at this point, I've already gained some truly helpful insight from her, and look forward to our future meetings. What I love about the course is that it's an at-your-own pace program, meaning you can do it as fast as you please, or at your own convenience. Because my current job has ebbs and flows to the amount of work I'm given, I can play catchup on slow weeks and get many tasks submitted, or submit just one or two assignments on busier weeks and make sure I'm giving myself enough breaks to where I can decompress and try to absorb the information before jumping back into it. The course has been prepared excellently with an intro course that gives you the basics of what UX entails and provides you with a quick project to kickstart your journey. Once you complete that part, you're thrown into UX Immersion where you take on a course project for the entire duration, starting from research practices like competitor analysis and user interviews, to creating a high-fidelity prototype of the responsive web-app you are tasked to create. While I'm not the entire way through this course yet, I'm enjoying every second of my journey and feel like I'm truly developing great portfolio pieces that I can add to my website and start applying for jobs with in no time. I also love that there's a Slack community with highly active students, alumni, and CF staff that are always extremely helpful from answering questions to offering and asking for feedback on assignments. I've already made several connections I'm thrilled to have and look forward to continuing to work with them in the future.

Great learning experience!

The UX course at Brainstation was very thorough and educational. The breadth of knowledge that was shared was great, and they did a good job of providing plenty of real life examples that made the occasionally dense material that much more digestible. My instructors were also very knowledgeable and shared their experiences with us in ways that were easy to comprehend. Really appreciate their insights as well as their frequent check ins.

What I like the most about this course, there were no long boring videos, no "water" only useful information straight to the point, sliced in short digestible videos. They give only what you need, and do that in the great style. I learn a lot during this course.

Eqquiped with UX principles!

UXDI really helped me learn the UX process and mindset. Coming from a marketing background this course widened my perspective about the importance of good UX design. What's the point of having amazing marketing if your product is not pleasant or useable. I highly recommend UXDI.

Professional Diploma in UX Design

I liked that this course is self paced and time flexible. Leading a busy life and studying at the same time can be daunting and having the flexibility to complete the course in my time took a lot of weight off my shoulders. The way the course is structured shows that they gave a lot of thought into making sure its clearly articulated, concise and understood by different levels of learners. I was impressed by the support given from enrollment to the student success team checking up checking up on your progress, the student community sharing via slack, the mentorship via webinars. This course leaves you with the knowledge and skills needed to apply in the real world as a ux designer. The exam is not easy so make sure you absorb all the in-depth ux concepts presented to you throughout the course. Learn and understand, don't just learn, if that makes any sense. Because the course is university accredited it is proctored VERY strictly so be prepared and keep a positive mind frame before sitting the exam. An overall positive experience with the UX Design Institute.

An excellent course covering the basics in terms of theory, combined with a schedule of projects that allow students to apply their learning practically as well as expanding on it.  The course is well delivered and clear, and faculty are very accessible; you are assigned a mentor at the beginning who you can contact via Slack easily. Would highly recommend to those interested in the subject area

I think this was a mistake

High pressure salesman talked a good game and pressured me into this with discounted admission. At first it sounded great. Then I got into the course modules. The modules looked to be pieced together from various microsoft sources and information and just a mish mash of information. Then we got our assignments, which had absolutely nothing to do with the assigned  readings and which featured programs that, as a beginner, I had never used, never heard of and didn't have the first clue how to use. I asked for help in our first required online lecture (which was also a joke and basically had the instructor just mumbling to himself as he did things in the program that I had no clue how to even follow) and he said he would help at the end of class, but when class ended he shut it off and I got nothing. So I have no first assignment whatsoever. I tried for three hours the next day and got nowhere so I gave up out of disgust. I haven't even looked at the second module yet because I already know it's another program I have not a clue how to use. There's no way to reach my instructor other than Slack and all he does is send YouTube links to explain stuff. If I wanted to learn from YouTube I could have saved several thousands of dollars and done it free. I indicated my disgust in Slack and in an email to my "admissions advisor" (most people here seem to have pseudonyms, hmm, wonder why) and he arranged a call where I could barely understand him because of his thick accent, where they basically said they would tutor me and help. That's nice, I guess, but he keeps telling me everything will be OK and I don't see how since I have no clue what I am doing whatsoever. I feel like a 5 year old in a room full of people talking about astrophysics. No idea.  I frankly feel I should just drop the course as I am getting nothing from it but useless YouTube links so we will see what happens. I'm not feeling optimistic at all. Oh, and this course has NOTHING to do with FAU; it's a third party that's somehow using FAU's name, so be advised if you're looking for that as you will be sorely disappointed. Overall I feel like this was not represented honestly and I feel taken advantage of.  Save your money and watch YouTube. It's free and that's what they'll give you anyway.

The course material was interesting, clear and easy to follow. The monthly project reviews during the webinars were really helpful, as well as the possibility to reach out to other students or mentors with questions or asking for appraisal. The projects were well-structured, not over-complicated (even for someone like me with no UX or Design experience) and at the same time offered a valuable opportunity to learn by doing. Career advice wasn't left as an  afterthought, and both students and instructos shared career opportunities and advice. I really enjoyed the free webinars and Q&A with UX professionals and the various inspirations and reading material that we were given as a way to further improve our skills independently. Overall I feel confident about the skills I have learned during the course and about the possibility of working in UX despite no previous experience in the field.
