Career Jumpstart

I'm so glad and grateful I was able to job search with the Career Jumpstart program! Job searching is such a stressful and confusing process, and I truly don't think I could've done it myself. Let alone find a job in a month! The online modules had such helpful and essential info that prepped me on every step of the process, and mentors were always available to provide additional personal help via Slack, messages, or calls. I mainly worked with Maca (aka bugged her whenever ANYTHING happened and any thoughts or worries came up) and she would always give constructive feedback and suggest next steps to help me push through. The mock interview preps were super helpful, which definitely helped me feel more confident and ready in interviews. Overall, it was a very supportive and practical experience and I would give the program a lot of credit for my success in finding my first UX job!

This program is amazing! After graduating from my Foundations course with Avocademy, the Career Jumpstart allowed me the opportunity to work on real projects with real clients and collaborate with other designers. It wasn't only the fact that it was so hands-on, but the guidance that I had from Maca was exceptional. She was there every step of the way, and we never lost that personal touch that makes a world of difference especially in an online setting. I'm thankful to have learned all that I have in such a short amount of time, and I highly recommend this course to anyone looking to be a UX/UI Designer. 

I took Avocademy's UX/UI Design Foundations Course earlier this year and wrote a review on that. I signed up for the Avocademy Career Jumpstart right after. I have to repeat this again - Avocademy is the BEST EVER UX/UI institute. I accepted an offer as a UX Researcher at Morgan Stanley at the end of September (Only one month after I started applying) and I am starting my new career journey at the end of this month. I am beyond thrilled because before this, I had been in education and had no real experience with UX/UI Design at all. I would love to share with everybody what I know and learned at Avocademy and how they helped me to get my first ever job in UX/UI Design. Through the Career Jumpstart Program, I have got1. Many opportunities to work with other teammates on real-life projects;2. Very thorough help with my resume;3. Amazingly holistic review of all my case studies in my portfolio;4. Countless live mentor sessions on job search and prepping job interviews;5. Super helpful recorded lessons on job search;6. Daily job-search support sessions/check-ins;7. Weekly (in fact, twice a week for most weeks) Avocademy alumni live experience/story-sharing sessions;8. Shockingly effective job-tracking system that made me organized through the job application journey;9. A lot of vacant job information daily;10. Mock interviews. I feel extremely lucky to have signed up for Avocademy. I would never have done this without the help that I got from them!! 

I highly recommend the Career Jumpstart course to anyone and everyone. There are obvious reasons to take this course, like the real client projects that you'll have access to participate in, but beyond that Maca has created a determined support system and job hunting network. I never once questioned whether or not I would get a job - I knew it was only a matter of when. If you are open to feedback and use the resources that are provided for you, Avocademy will not let you fail. After only 3 weeks of applying for jobs, I had an offer! I could not have asked for a better experience. I felt supported throughout my entire journey, not only by the Avocademy staff, but also by the many other students who were going through the same process as me. The design teams that Maca organizes connect you with so many other talented designers and give you the chance to make connections and network,  lean on other job seekers for advice, and even make some new friends! 

I loved my experience in Avocademy and subsequent experience in Career Jumpstart. Before transitioning into UX through Avocademy, I was an educator with no experience whatsoever in tech. Thanks to Avocademy + CJ, I was able to build a portfolio of real client projects and land a job within a month of job searching (after completing the course and my portfolio). Additionally, everyone who works at Avocademy is so kind :,) They really care about your career growth and want you to succeed!! Avocademy seriously changed my life

Professional advice and guidance contributed to my success. I can confidently say that it helped me shrink the process when landing a job. Please understand me. You have to put a lot of effort into it to accomplish your goal. Having that person who you can rely on is critical.

Career Jumpstart's curriculum helped me expand my resume and experience as I got to work on real-life client projects. The mentors provide all the support you need in your job search process right from the start. They even help with salary negotiation which is really nice and shows how much they care about the students.

Learn Agile and how to apply it to your work as a UX/UI designer.

Maca and the entire Avocademy team were extremely helpful and supportive throughout my career change to UX design! When attempting to transition from marketing to user experience after completing a UX design course, I struggled to hear back from any of the jobs I applied to which felt very defeating. Through Avocademy’s job search program, I learned how to emphasize the right info on my resume, ensure I showcased my best work on my portfolio, and present the right content from my portfolio during job interviews. I was also able to receive mentorship and advice from people who have years of experience in a variety of industries which helped me understand what a real UX job could look like. Through The Guac Group, I got the opportunity to work with other UX Designers to build a website for a cookie company that needed an effective way for users to purchase products nation-wide. This experience was invaluable since I got to speak to real-life examples on how I made a positive impact on companies through UX design. Both my experience during the job search program and at The Guac Group made me stand out among applicants and receive more favorable responses throughout my application process, which helped increase my confidence as a beginner in the UX field and eventually land a full-time job as a UX Designer.
