I love how well structured this bootcamp is. I thought that I would be thrown in the deep end by not knowing anything about coding or data science but upon starting this bootcamp I saw how easy HyperionDev makes it for you to learn by providing you with sufficient course materials as well as videos which really helps. They also show when you’re falling behind by displaying your progress, in this way, if you’re a part time student like me, you could easily plan around your bootcamp and your job. HyperionDev is also very swift with responding to queries. Mentor support is very helpful when you’re stuck with something. So, I completed the "University of Edinburgh Full Stack Web Development Bootcamp" and finished with the "top ranking" in my cohort.



The TL;DR is: Look elsewhere. I don't recommend this bootcamp at all. The materials are no better (mostly worse) than free resources, and their "employer partners" are nonexistent. I can see why the University of Edinburgh had virtually nothing to do with this.



For context, this course is split into two parts: the 3-month bootcamp and a subsequent 3-month "graduate scheme."



For the bootcamp:
As many here have already mentioned, the learning boils down to a bunch of PDFs. Each one has a task to complete. Considering this is an expensive course (I paid £7500 back in March), and being a company of Web Developers and Software Engineers, you'd think they'd put together something smarter than PDFs in a Dropbox. But, here we are—a sign of the quality to expect. In the early parts of the course, there's an accompanying video for each task to explain each topic. These were actually quite good, but as you progress deeper into the bootcamp and the topics get more complex, there are fewer videos, and their quality diminishes. It's no surprise, as many have noted, that they struggle to complete the bootcamp on time. I found that by the last third of the bootcamp, the materials were virtually useless. I relied on YouTube and W3Schools to learn how to complete the tasks. Having paid this amount of money to end up using free resources didn't feel right. All the course materials direct you to join the Discord for support, which I couldn't access since they'd shut it down. (I only learned recently from other reviews that it was because they couldn't manage the influx of complaints from students). I managed to finish the bootcamp on time, but only just, and worked long hours to do so. As I mentioned earlier, I finished rank 1 in my course of supposedly 100+ people. However, on the "weekly leaderboard," I only ever saw three other people making any progress.



Regardless, I thought maybe the value lies in the graduate scheme and access to Hyperion's "employer partners."



For the graduate scheme:
The tasks here were all career-related: polish up your CV, update your LinkedIn/GitHub, complete a technical interview, etc. The guidance was useful and accurate, but hardly seemed worth the price I'd paid. For comparison, PurpleCV's most expensive package is only £215 and they'd do all of that for you. I completed all tasks with 100% feedback and joined the graduate Discord group, unsurprisingly, it's basically dead with fewer than 300 members (including staff). Anecdotally, browsing through LinkedIn, I've seen others posting about finishing their courses and ranking high in their cohorts out of 100-600 people per cohort. I've counted up to about 3,000 people in total, so I'd estimate that less than 10% actually graduate from a HyperionDev bootcamp. Given my accomplishments, I thought I'd be a prime candidate for their employer partners. Yet, it's been three months with no news. They've mentioned a slowdown in tech and the summer quietness as reasons. Their advice? Apply for jobs and contact recruiters (amazing advice?! it's not like I was already doing that). I have recently found work as a web developer, but not through HyperionDev.



In conclusion, look elsewhere. There are much cheaper bootcamps offering accreditations, and free resources are somehow better than what HyperionDev provides. The career support is basic at best. If you need help with your CV/LinkedIn, there are many services ranging from £50-£200+ that can enhance your profile and "findability" for recruiter algorithms. The touted "employer partners" is a sham. I have no idea about the connection with the University of Edinburgh; it seems they were only leveraging the university's name for marketing purposes. (PS. I've noticed this has now changed to ICL, and I doubt they're affiliated with HyperionDev in any meaningful way either). I'm have no idea about the source of the positive reviews; some don't even make sense. I'd advise caution when reading them since I have not had even close to the same experience.

The course materials is solid and covers alot of current and relavent development technologies. 
The project structure is well planned and well placed to suite me working a full time job.

Recently graduated from the Online Full Stack Web Development course. After completing the course, I feel that I've learned an incredible amount and am fluent in HTML, Javascript, and CSS as well as React.


Overall, there were a few problems with the course. The way that it works is you have access to folders containing PDFs which you read and complete tasks, for which you need to do additional research which is fine. There are also some video lectures, which are helpful during the first section (basics) but as you progress through the course there are fewer of them and they become less useful / out of date. I found that the course PDFs were often out of date and missing key steps for how to create the apps that they required to pass the course. All they need to do is update the course materials, which is what we pay for. This caused a lot of stress and is unacceptable for a course for which you pay thousands of UK £'s. 


One word of warning is that the time frame they give you for earlier tasks are very reasonable, but towards the end they become near impossible. The final suggested time frame occurs AFTER the end of support, which is concerning. This seriously needs reviewing because from the discord forum it looks like this happened to a few people, and some has to pay to get extension to their support. Hyperion need to review this. My advice is get two weeks ahead of this timeline before you get into the last month - you'll need it.
I did have calls with Mentors on a couple of occasions and they were useful in talking you through how to complete tasks. One mentor even took my task away and sent it back to me a day later with suggestions which was very helpful.
On two occasions I requested help through the ticketing system (once because the course materials mentioned additional reading which hadn't been provided, and once because one of my tasks was reviewed incorrectly) and received no help at all. I just gave up asking for help via the ticketing system.
I didn't do the course with University accreditation but I would be interested to hear if the level of support was better if you did the University accredited version of the course. I suspect if not, then universities might distance themselves from Hyperion.

Overall, it didn't meet expectations and is overpriced considering the level of support given.

The support system has been really helpful if i can say ,and they always responded really quickly. whenever I needed help they were always available and ready to help , and their aim was to see me succeed during the boot-camp , when I was falling behind they always sent messages asking what was wrong and in what way they can assist me , they provided me with technical support regarding my school work and also non technical support . I have to say that their services are one of the best services. They went so far as  providing me with someone  to talk to , regarding why I was falling behind and he could give me advice on how to keep on track. Read less

I am completing my Software Engineering bootcamp on HyperionDev as a part-time student.
The curriculum is very apt for the industry and up to date with current practices.
As a student with 3 years of programming experience, i found the early content very basic and suitable for newbies. However, the tasks in the later stages did challenge my skills and i learned new and interesting concepts.

I am especially grateful to the mentors, who i contacted remotely, that were patient and helpful through my struggles. I also appreciated the time taken to mark my tasks and the valuable feedback i received.

On the other hand, i found it particularly frustrating when i attempted to call the office and seek support as not many consultants were available. Nevertheless, i did find satisfaction when i requested support via the online form and email. Read less

HyperionDev is a very competent school where one can complete a boot camp in various areas of programming. The software engineering and full-stack web development, that I did, is very demanding and requires you to often do more research online in addition to the study metarial provided. I found that as a beginner 65-70 hours study time is required from you. The mentors are helpful but also don't make things too easy for you as most of the work is required to be done by you. I would recommend that the booking times for mentors have more available slots sooner than what is currently available. The study metarial is highly informative yet concise. Bootcamp was very helpful. Learnt a lot. Great learning experience, the additional readings were very helpful. The support team has a very prompt response. Hyperyon was a waste of money. 
The course is very poorly designed. Is it basically a pack with 90 pdfs full of typos. 
The learning journey is incomplete and missing some basic and important topics you will need on any job application. 
The differential is the claimed human reviews and support, which are made by students with no experience, and there was usually a 10-day waiting list to get a 30 min call with a mentor. Mentors are students that didn't necessarily finish the course yet, and have no expertise to be able to solve your problems. 
I had to sign up for Datacamp and Codecademy to learn the basics and be able to finish some tasks at the Bootcamp, as the explanation for their lessons and exercises don't match the content of the tests.
Had to send complaints weekly to the support team, because the platform was constantly not working, mistakes are normal and communication is terrible. Most of my emails were never replied and nothing ever got done to fix it. 
I truly think anyone would be wasting their money doing this bootcamp. I did.

Hyperions courses are amazing, there is definitely help from a vareity of  mentors which is awesome, and the course moves from basics to advanced in a staggered way that slowly builds up your confidence, however there is no such thing as spoon feeding if you want to learn programming! Youv got ot figure it out! 

that being said they really do help alot and it is definitely worth the money, i just hope they give me alittle more time to finish as i tend to overthink things and therefor move alittle more slowly than other students. Pros : a lot of support is given and all the work is project based, so you get to learn how to code and no more tutorial hell!
cons :  projects are slightly difficult so the course may not be for absolute beginers and learners are more responsible for the learning so it might not be a good fit for everybody. However if  learning autonomy is for you then give the bootcamp a go!! Read less
