I started this journey with HyperionDev on 9 January 2023, this bootcamp is more rigorous than you High Intensity Interval Training at your nearest gym. This should qualify to earn one Vitality points with Discovery Vitality. I have grown through my technical understanding in this qualification, it has helped me design more effective solutions within my career in software development

I have been doing full stack web and software engineering with hyperiondev. It has been an amazing experience as I managed to learn a lot of key concepts to a being a full stack developer. They are eager to assists, weekly and bi monthly check-ins. The course work is easy to read and they do provide more links to resource work and information for better develplopment understanding. Their codes are a great mix of complexity and linked to unpacking industry standards to the coding world. I would highly recommend it if your are starting your coding journey and being in the field.

Having nearly completed the Full-Stack Web Developer and Software Engineer Bootcamp at HyperionDev, I feel compelled to share my experience for those considering embarking on this transformative journey. From day one, the contact with instructors and support staff was nothing short of remarkable. What stood out to me was not just the quality of the teaching but the genuine interest in my learning and progress.
The support system in place at HyperionDev is exemplary. Questions and concerns were addressed with such speed and clarity that it greatly enhanced my learning experience. It's clear they've organised their support system to be as efficient and effective as possible, ensuring that learners receive the assistance they need when they need it. Moreover, the feedback on my work was exceptional. Each review was well-documented, highlighting strengths and pinpointing areas for improvement. What I appreciated most was the constructive approach taken; I was not only informed about the aspects I needed to work on but was also guided on how to tackle these improvements. This level of detail in feedback is invaluable for personal and professional growth, allowing me to refine my skills in a focused manner.
The bootcamp's curriculum is thorough, covering a wide range of topics that are crucial for anyone looking to make their mark in the world of web development and software engineering. The hands-on experience gained through practical projects has been instrumental in building my confidence and skills in a real-world context.
In conclusion, my time with HyperionDev has been incredibly rewarding. The combination of engaging contact, well-organized support, and detailed feedback has provided a solid foundation for my career. I highly recommend this bootcamp to anyone serious about diving into full-stack web development and software engineering. It's an investment in your future that is well worth making.

HyperionDev helped me to integrate and apply a lot of skills in Full-Stack Web Development in a short space of time. I really appreciated the feedback I received from my mentors for each individual task: it helped me to pay attention to skills/areas that were lacking in my codebase, therefore making the quality of my code on par with professional coders.Thank you, Hyperion, for quickly putting me on the map. May your influence reach out farther and beyond to enrich many more students in the near future.

So, I completed the "University of Edinburgh Full Stack Web Development Bootcamp" and finished with the "top ranking" in my cohort.
The TL;DR is: Look elsewhere. I don't recommend this bootcamp at all. The materials are no better (mostly worse) than free resources, and their "employer partners" are nonexistent. I can see why the University of Edinburgh had virtually nothing to do with this.
For context, this course is split into two parts: the 3-month bootcamp and a subsequent 3-month "graduate scheme."
For the bootcamp:As many here have already mentioned, the learning boils down to a bunch of PDFs. Each one has a task to complete. Considering this is an expensive course (I paid £7500 back in March), and being a company of Web Developers and Software Engineers, you'd think they'd put together something smarter than PDFs in a Dropbox. But, here we are—a sign of the quality to expect. In the early parts of the course, there's an accompanying video for each task to explain each topic. These were actually quite good, but as you progress deeper into the bootcamp and the topics get more complex, there are fewer videos, and their quality diminishes. It's no surprise, as many have noted, that they struggle to complete the bootcamp on time. I found that by the last third of the bootcamp, the materials were virtually useless. I relied on YouTube and W3Schools to learn how to complete the tasks. Having paid this amount of money to end up using free resources didn't feel right. All the course materials direct you to join the Discord for support, which I couldn't access since they'd shut it down. (I only learned recently from other reviews that it was because they couldn't manage the influx of complaints from students). I managed to finish the bootcamp on time, but only just, and worked long hours to do so. As I mentioned earlier, I finished rank 1 in my course of supposedly 100+ people. However, on the "weekly leaderboard," I only ever saw three other people making any progress.
Regardless, I thought maybe the value lies in the graduate scheme and access to Hyperion's "employer partners."
For the graduate scheme:The tasks here were all career-related: polish up your CV, update your LinkedIn/GitHub, complete a technical interview, etc. The guidance was useful and accurate, but hardly seemed worth the price I'd paid. For comparison, PurpleCV's most expensive package is only £215 and they'd do all of that for you. I completed all tasks with 100% feedback and joined the graduate Discord group, unsurprisingly, it's basically dead with fewer than 300 members (including staff). Anecdotally, browsing through LinkedIn, I've seen others posting about finishing their courses and ranking high in their cohorts out of 100-600 people per cohort. I've counted up to about 3,000 people in total, so I'd estimate that less than 10% actually graduate from a HyperionDev bootcamp. Given my accomplishments, I thought I'd be a prime candidate for their employer partners. Yet, it's been three months with no news. They've mentioned a slowdown in tech and the summer quietness as reasons. Their advice? Apply for jobs and contact recruiters (amazing advice?! it's not like I was already doing that). I have recently found work as a web developer, but not through HyperionDev.
In conclusion, look elsewhere. There are much cheaper bootcamps offering accreditations, and free resources are somehow better than what HyperionDev provides. The career support is basic at best. If you need help with your CV/LinkedIn, there are many services ranging from £50-£200+ that can enhance your profile and "findability" for recruiter algorithms. The touted "employer partners" is a sham. I have no idea about the connection with the University of Edinburgh; it seems they were only leveraging the university's name for marketing purposes. (PS. I've noticed this has now changed to ICL, and I doubt they're affiliated with HyperionDev in any meaningful way either). I'm have no idea about the source of the positive reviews; some don't even make sense. I'd advise caution when reading them since I have not had even close to the same experience.

I genuinely had a great time at HyperionDev. I was made feel welcome and important. This was also my first online learning experience and they made adjusting to it feel easy and natural. Their course is broken down into four levels, making learning with them really easy but still challenging enough to make one want to learn more and grow one's skills as you work through each task. Very few times though there would be task that is a little to hard and vague to complete yourself but worry not because your mentors and code reviewers are there to help. They don't solve your problems for you but instead teach you how to solve them yourself. The mentors I was lucky enough to meet were always extremely kind and patient with me, constantly pointing me in the right direction whenever I felt like I was stuck. Something I wasn't a big fan of was how little the interactions with other students were, this could have just been my group though. Nonetheless I'm hoping this is something they work on in the future especially when being teaching how to work collaborately with others. In the beginning I felt like what I was learning wasn't going to lead me anywhere but now that i'm at the end i'm extremely happy to have been with them because now I feel as confident as ever about starting a career in this industry. Thank you HyperionDev!

HyperionDev is a very competent school where one can complete a boot camp in various areas of programming. The software engineering and full-stack web development, that I did, is very demanding and requires you to often do more research online in addition to the study metarial provided. I found that as a beginner 65-70 hours study time is required from you. The mentors are helpful but also don't make things too easy for you as most of the work is required to be done by you. I would recommend that the booking times for mentors have more available slots sooner than what is currently available. The study metarial is highly informative yet concise. It truly gives you the information you need to be a competent programmer.

As a past student from hyperion I thoroughly enjoyed my time at hyperion. it was a challenging experience that required a great amount of grit and tenacity to push throughPros: 1.industry level work and projects that build your experience while learning how to program in the process2.quality lectures ready to assist at anytime and in my opinion tought me well in what I wanted to learn3.gives you good fundamentals in programming and coding as a whole with teaching me Java and python and various other frameworks4. Landed my dream job 4months later earning top dollar.Cons:1. Was marketed as a 3 month bootcamp when in total it took me 6 months which wasn’t a problem for me but if you are expecting it to be 3 months think again and plan accordingly.2. Parking at the Cape Town location was horrible if you are planning on doing the in person bootcamp make sure you have extra money for parking each day or make lift arrangements 3.structure could have been a bit better as there wasn’t really a schedule to follow you just wait for the lectures to tell you when to come in4. The last level of the bootcamp was in my opinion useless as it introduces us to a topic that has its own designated bootcamp (machine learning and data science) there’s no way you can mention that you have experience in that part on your CV with only doing 5 tasks on that topic. I personally feel that section needs to be relooked at

Thus far I have had a great FIRST experience doing a course online. The things that stand out for me is the detailed course material on challenging tasks, the check-in calls you can schedule with your mentor which made it great to bounce task uncertainties/struggles off them and also the informative feedback on tasks not only giving you feedback but also giving alternative solutions to a specific problem. I would suggest anyone interested in either changing or progressing their career in software development to enrol in the software development bootcamp @HyperionDev. Suggestions would be to review and provide feedback on tasks closer to the day of submitting a task and including more task specific examples in a screen recording format which will be of much help. Machine learning as an example. Overall great experience.

Honestly speaking the experience that I had was very amazing, and the mentors are very supportive and the Hyperion support structure he's the best experience you could ever have they help you understand code from a very low level and teach you to read code and mostly I like the challenges and problems that we solve every day which helps you analyze and understand a problem and finding a solution using code I could never ask for a better experience thank you so much I Hyperion Dev team you are the best at what you do and keep coding and may you stay blessed.

My experience at HyperionDev has been the best so far since we get to have mentors that have been very supportive. From the beginning, they guided me and I felt like giving up at times but the support system was so wonderful because they checked to see why I was falling behind. After that, you can participate in coding nights where you can showcase your skills and learn a lot more. Last but not least, whenever we need feedback or support regarding submissions, they are always there to help.

I wanted to solve real life problems, grow and experience many different industries with Tech evolving and the world adapting. I ventured into Technology from teaching and join onsite Software engineering bootcamp at Hyperion development. The mentors have a very positive feedback on the task reviews and are always there to assist with coding if there are any challenges. They are really great and helpful. The Lecturer delivers content of such high calibre which makes one ready for an industry and he adapts to the student's needs with passion. As a beginner in coding I have had the best experience and journey through Hyperion development. I don't regret venturing into Tech.
Student 2021
I am currently a full-time, onsite Web Development student at HyperionDev. So far I have had a very good but also very challenging experience, coding is hard and there is no way getting around that but they have designed the course so that you keep building on what you have been learning. I am really glad I chose to do the course onsite because it’s a very nice environment - the other students are great, you can ask other students further along in the course for help & you have direct access to either the main lecturer and junior lecturer. And I also have access to an online mentor which I can make appointments with if needed. I am in my 30s and a midlife career change is a big risk to take, I chose HyperionDev onsite to make the transition as easy as possible and have access to all possible resources that might help me along the way. It’s a very rewarding experience once your code works and when you actually realise that you can call yourself a coder. But you really do learn the meaning of the word perseverance, because it is tough. The course is structured in a very logical and clear way and it is very easy to keep track of your progress, it is assignment based and there are no exams. It would be great if there were more examples to work through though but you are also encouraged to do your own research to find solutions. If you don’t have any coding experience then I think it is unrealistic to complete this course in 3 months, I wasn’t able to but managed to apply for an extension. Some advice I would give a new joiner is to keep working - if you have completed the task for the day but still have it in you to continue, then keep going and read ahead and start doing the tasks yourself because it will help you to not fall behind. I am not sure how good the job assistance is after graduation as I have not yet graduated but they do teach you how to build an online brand for yourself.

good value for my money, am attending the September cohort boot camp. the lecturer Thabiso is an excellent tutor and knows the content inside out. the learning environment in Johannesburg where i am attending the onsite bootcamp is also very excellent and organized. the mentors are also doing a good job with task reviews and how they point students to correction and encourage you to do more where needed.

The quick version: Terrible, terrible, terrible. Avoid at all costs! Here's why...Being in the Aviation Industry and grounded because of CoVid-19, I decided to ups**** myself by learning to code. I had done some coding in Python before on places like Udemy and by reading books, but decided now was the perfect time to dedicate serious time and effort into this. I joined HyperionDev for the primary reason of being accountable to a mentor. The website advertises that a mentor would tailer the course to your experience and guide you from “zero to hero”. I paid the full fee of R19 995 for the six month Data Science Bootcamp. It went downhill from there…The bootcamp started on the 5th May 2020 and it asked me to schedule an “on-boarding call”, which I did. A call was scheduled, but never received.I then checked on how I would go about scheduling a call with my mentor. To my surprise, the next available date was in four (4) weeks… June.I then called HyperionDev and bought the above to their attention. I offered 3 scenarios: Either assign a different mentor to me, transfer me to a different bootcamp, or refund me. I was told to stick with it and was given my mentor's email address to schedule calls. I accepted.I went through Level 1 of the bootcamp quickly, as I already had experience in Python. However, whilst doing the tasks, I remember feeling sorry for people that have never coded before at all. More on that later. When I needed help from my mentor, I fired off an email and could only schedule a call a week later. Unfortunately, even the call was disappointing. Not my mentor's fault - How much can you really teach and explain in 30 minutes?Think you’ll get personalized code reviews in your code file as shown on the website? Nope. They show code feedback on a separate webpage. If you’re lucky, it’ll be personalized. I received a lot of automated feedback. You’re told to ask questions in your code file, but the automated response doesn’t address questions. Better ask your mentor for help… in 2 - 4 weeks.“Code is reviewed within 48 hours.” No, no, it’s not.On to the content. The good stuff - the notes that will teach you how to code. They are delivered in PDF format to a Dropbox folder. There’s some text on there and a few tasks, which are much, much more involved than what you were taught in the PDF. Expect to research how to code if statements and loops on the internet. It does not teach them before you need them. Sure, doing your own research is good and part of the learning process, but there are limits. They should vary tasks just enough that they make you research the official documentation and not outdated forums. They plagiarize most of the tasks. If you want to do tasks/challenges, go to HackerRank or similar sites. Think the projects are related to real-world problems? They’re not. They’re just more meaningless tasks. To accompany the PDF’s, are “example.py” files that have example code for you to read through. Right at the top, you’re reminded that they are there for you and should you get stuck, to please contact your mentor. Prepare for a 2 - 4 week wait if you go that route. Some files ask you to make sure you have Python 2.7 installed, while it teaches the course using Python 3! You run the file… error. Now you’re troubleshooting their example file. If you know what you’re doing, you’ll find the “print” statements aren’t accompanied by parenthesis (). The entire file still has Python 2.7 code. They don’t teach best practices. All variable names are in CamelCase and not snake_case as recommended by Python style documentation. In another, you’re asked to install SpaCey, a Natural Language Processing module. Enjoy spending the day trying to get that installed! Don’t bother asking your mentor for help. They’re not available. The instructions on how to install SpaCey are incorrect in the PDF. Best to just go to the official SpaCey website. Also, the version of Python they provide for you is the 32bit version. SpaCey needs the 64bit version. With all of that said, I asked for a refund on the 29th May 2020, as what they promised on the website before joining was not being delivered. I was happy to pay the one month fee of R4795 plus the 15% cancellation fee.It has now been 5 weeks later and after working my way from Support to the Head of Education to the CEO and the legal department, I finally received a response:They are putting me on the new cancellation policy which came into effect on the 1st July 2020.It states that since I completed 29% of the course and that I enquired about the refund policy on the 29th May, my cancellation was made in week 4. I am therefore, eligible to receive a refund of 40% minus a 15% cancellation fee. Depending on how you work it out, that’s a refund of between R5000 and R6800. From R19 995. Disgusting. The bizarre thing is, even if I had just paid monthly, I would have covered the same amount of content.I have no choice now but to take it further legally. There are FAR, FAR, better courses out there that are free or very cheap. If you want to learn web development, use freeCodeCamp. If you want to learn Python, use Udemy. Courses are excellent and only cost around R200. Sure, you don’t get mentor support, but you get very little of that at HyperionDev, anyway. If you specifically want to learn Data Science, try Codecademy or DataQuest. I have since moved on to another learning platform called Udacity and it is amazing! Projects are real-world - Analysing actual data sets. Content is fantastic. Video and text is available. They mark projects with personalized feedback in less than 24 hours. They marked my last project in 10 minutes. Mentors answer questions within 30 minutes. If you must join HyperionDev, DO NOT pay upfront. Instead, pay monthly. That way, if you feel like they sucked you in by false advertising, you can at least cancel and stop the debit orders. Lesson learnt.Good luck.

Where do I start as the list of negatives are basically endless. I really wish I had seen the HelloPeter reviews before deciding to spend R20 000 on a course that doesn't offer you anything near what they promise. This is meant to be a modern, tech, educational platform that is forward thinking, but I can promise you it’s just like any other old school company. Theres nothing revolutionary in the way they teach, mark your work, provide your tasks… It's basically a drop box folder and are code isn't reviewed line by line, you just get overall feedback. The course has massive holes in it (full-stack web development), and you basically just end up running a bunch of free courses in parallel to try and get you over the line, which makes you think what the point is of spending R20 000 on a mentored course that does nothing of the type. You get a PDF outlining what you need to do which suffices at first (to make sure you get past the refund clause in their policy wording), but as you move on you may as well just skip to the tasks and research those online. I had to get the developers in my current company to help me out and due to learning everything online from multiple sources, the way I write code isn't good practice. This leads me to my next point…There are way too many students for the mentors available and there is no personal touch of them knowing where you are, and what they should teach you because of this. Sometimes it takes over two weeks to get a session and by that time your ripping your hair out as your 5 tasks behind and need another 4 sessions. I work a full-time job and getting sessions after hours is a nightmare. The one thing they are good at is selling you the course, I was promised this would be a breeze outside of my 9 - 5 job and that they are specialists in this. Don't even think about this course if your working, but I wouldn't recommend it if your not either. My tutor really tried to help me out after hours but was always exhausted or had to cancel sessions at the last minute. I put aside weekends for this only to be cancelled on last second and then to spend the rest of the weekend just stressing about how to finish the tasks by myself. The customer support operates at a snails pace, to get anything sorted takes days to a month. I complained and eventually got a small refund which took over a month, still not happy with the outcome. My advise, keep your hard earned money and grab courses online, as you learn way more from free websites than spending a huge amount of HyperionDev.

They will not "Kickstart your career in tech".Where to begin, I sold my car to pay for this course, and what I received in return was an out-dated course, basically zero career support, a half baked hiring platform with no opportunities for the average graduate, most job postings on their connect platform ask for years of experience. As for the certificate, it has no recognition in the industry and if an employer looks at the certificate all they will see is a certificate of completion, you can get the same thing from an R200 Udemy course.Furthermore, the Mentors have to look after way too many students and are frequently swamped. And the one time I needed help from my mentor he told me he didn't have experience in the topic I was stuck on.Everything you find in the course material can be sourced for free online and through youtube tutorials.I have found myself a job based on past experience and I have asked multiple companies if they have heard of HyperionDev...not even one has said yes.Don't waste your money, time, or effort on this scam.
