The vision is working

I chose Nucamp because of the vision of the founder. I believe his vision is being followed. The financial aspect also played a roll.

Great School/Instructor

I had a lot of fun during this bootcamp and learned so much. I have fallen in love with coding and will be continuing on to the Fullstack Bootcamp with Nucamp. I can't wait!! My instructor (Jeremiah Mark) was awesome as well; he was very knowledgeable and took the time to answer all of our questions, even outside of class or 1-on-1. He gave great advice and also provide a lot of feedback or various sites for us to continuing learning!

Nucamp Web Fundamentals Review

I chose Nucamp because if its online-based nature, good reviews, and flexibility when it comes to time. I think it was the right call, as I was able to adequately balance my work and private life while also learning a lot of the things I've been wanting to learn for a long time. I've already signed up for the full stack bootcamp to follow up the introductory bootcamp with, and I'm looking forward to it.

Web Fundamentals

I chose NuCamp because of its low price point compared to other boot camps and being able to do it after work/on the weekends. It was a good experience, learned a lot, and liked that for any things I was confused about during the week the instructor would be able to help during the weekend workshops.

I liked the hands-on and collaborative learning in the workshops. I also like the Fair Student Agreement. Taking the Web Development boot camp is a great starter for the Front-End and Full-Stack bootcamps.

Web Fundamentals

I am coming into this from the logistics field.  A great deal of it reminded me of when I was trying to learn both Spanish and German at the same time.  There are things in common between the languages but you must be able to compartmentalize and keep going and it gets better.  I would not tell anyone that it was easy. No, It was hard and you gotta be willing to commit to both yourself and your goals to get it done.  Join a group if you can to stay motivated and meet people going through the same thing.  It will help.  Our NuCamp coach @Jeremey Adler was very straightforward and knowledgeable.  He had lots of helpful tips and shortcuts.   Before I start the full stack on April 26th I am going to get as much practice in as possible.  A big shout out to the #womenintech on slack.  Wonderful women helping each other.  Another to my fiance and family for their continued support.  They are awesome.

Challenging but you WILL LEARN!

I chose Nucamp for the affordability and flexibility of schedule and I'm pleased with my overall experience in the HTML CSS and Javascript Fundamentals class. I went into the class with nearly zero experience but I've finished feeling like I have a decent understanding of these basic technologies. I had a small amount of exposure to Javascript through a free app called Grasshopper prior to the course. This free app basically familiarized me with some of the terminology in Javascript and how variables work, along with the idea of functions within a computer language. So I would have considered myself a newbie+ maybe? HTML and CSS were brand new to me. Wow, did I learn a lot in four weeks! It is not easy and I recommend staying on track with the syllabus; maybe a day ahead if you can. Even a procrastinator like myself was able to do this and here's why: The course structure is deceptively simple and very elegant. It does not feel like you have a ton of work to do....therefore you don't feel a dreaded overwhelming-ness. (I don't think that's an actual word, but anyone who struggles with this issue will understand.) Once you get to the lessons, you will soon learn just how packed with info they really are. Not a word is wasted in the video tutorials. I watched them several times to help myself fully comprehend the material. The videos are voiced by a very pleasant and easy-to-follow instructor whom you hear and can follow along with in writing if you choose. Typically everything is in writing below the videos, which is great if you learn best by reading!  Each video is between 2-12 minutes for the most part. It's very well thought out, but you WILL be using your brain and thinking a lot. You will not be spoon fed every answer. The assignments require your full efforts and by applying yourself, you will TRULY learn the material. You will also be much more apt to retain it. Tips: Stay on top of the material...don't fall behind. Catching up is possible, but not recommended. Why make it harder on yourself? Also, don't be shy about asking for help, but do try and exhaust options for a solid 20 minutes before asking. This is something Nucamp explains and it will make more sense when you start your class. Your instructor is available during the live sessions on Saturdays and via messaging systems within the Nucamp platform and Slack. If you are unfamiliar with Slack, it is a portal/forum for working and collaborating. It's extremely useful!

Web Development Fundamentals

Nucamp definitely exceeded my expectations!  I choose Nucamp because of the price, but I was overwhelmingly surprised by how much I learned and how well I learned it.  I have been studying on my own for years now, but finally I feel like I understand what I was studying. I highly recommend Nucamp!

Affordable and well developed for an introduction

Nucamp was a recommendation from a classmate. I've been a technology professional for over 10 years, and I've had the opportunity to work with programming before, but I decided to start a bootcamp to acquire knowledge in web development. It was a great introduction, with many important tips, that I would take a long time to discover if I had decided to learn it myself.

Great intro bootcamp!

I chose Nucamp for the ability to learn online and the price. I could afford to take the intro bootcamp and decide if a career in coding was going to be right for me. The material was fantastic and the instructor was very knowledgably. Working with other students in 2-4 person teams during workshops was really helpful. People were willing to help each other and share their ideas on how fix an issue before alerting the teacher for help.

HTML, CSS, JavaScriptI have thought this was going to be so hard for me to understand since i never thought or being in IT or at least try it. At first it seems so hard but once you get together with your instructor and class mates it makes it more easier to understand. I'm a mother of three boys and have a full time job working from home, so making a routine around school was tough had to miss a day or two but my instructor worked with me and was great about it. I really liked learning and being in this bootcamp it helped alot with anxiety and now I'm ready to start the full stack.

Web Dev Fundamentals Review

This review is for the Web Dev Fundamentals course. I chose Nucamp due to the relatively inexpensive tuition and flexibility because I am taking the course while working full time. I have no regrets about my decision and I will be starting the full-stack course in 2 weeks. Nucamp delivers on what they sell, I gained a fundamental knowledge of html, css, and javascript that has help prepared me for the full-stack course. My instructor Olaf far exceeded my expectations, which was awesome. If the content seems overwhelming at first, don't panic. It's a lot of information to take in when you're learning something new. You're going to learn by repetition and doing it on your own. They warn you to be prepared to put in extra time for the javascript section (weeks 3 and 4), and I say please heed this advice, as this is when the course got a bit trickier for me. Google is your friend. It's always helpful to read an explanation about a concept from a different perspective. Don't be afraid to reach out for help! Everyone is here to learn, and asking questions helps facilitate that. Be mindful that this is a part-time bootcamp. It's going to take you going above and beyond the bootcamps requirements to be competent enough to eventually gain that first programming gig. Overall, the course gave me what I needed, ramped up my excitement about the world of programming, and I'm ready to continue that momentum into the full-stack.

Great Experience!

I chose Nucamp because I heard good things about the bootcamp, plus they were flexible with my schedule as a working adult. I learned a lot during the fundamentals bootcamp, and can't wait to start my full-stack bootcamp in two weeks.

I chose Nucamp because of the flexibility and the cost. I love that I am able to work at my own pace and we can also get help from other aspiring developers and of course our instructor when needed.

Web Dev Fundamentals 4 Week Course

I thought that overall I received what I expected from the course, which was structured learning.  There are many ways to learning coding that are free online, but it is helpful to have a structure and accountability that a class provides.  I had studied some coding previously so I was familiar with coding fundamentals going in, and this was very helpful as the second half of the course on Javascript may be very difficult for someone with no exposure to data structures.  I would recommend keeping this in mind if you choose to attend any bootcamp.  The more you study in advance, the better off you'll be during the course.  I think the course is a good value compared to the cost of some bootcamps out there (that's another big reason I choose it.  I already have student debt and couldn't imagine taking on anymore).  The class is taught in a hybrid format, so during the week you learn on your own and on Saturdays meet with your instructor and cohort.  During the week, you have access to support on Nucamp's Slack channel.  Depending on the type of learner you are, this may or may not work for you.  Because I knew I enjoyed coding and was self-motivated, I really enjoyed the hybrid format because it gave me flexibility during the week to allocate time the way I needed.  That being said, if there are other demands in your life or you're not sure you're committed to coding yet, the hybrid format may be difficult for you.  I researched bootcamps for months before choosing Nucamp so I understood that a bootcamp alone would not be enough.  I think that anyone considering this course should be aware of that before signing up.  I practice coding on my own and use supplementary materials in addition to Nucamp.  I heard that this is true of most bootcamps, simply due to the time constraints, you really have to put in the time on your own to master it.  Please keep that in mind if you are considering the course.  One of the big things i liked about Nucamp as well is the transparency.  While considering the course, nobody from Nucamp tried to "sell" the course to me (while other bootcamps, when I signed up just to see their syllabus, were very aggressive in calling and emailing me).  The people at Nucamp were simply honest about what they offered and that spoke to me about the type of learning environment they had built.Nucamp is really what you make it.  I plan to continue my study with them in the Fullstack bootcamp.

Course Review

I chose Nucamp because it was a cheaper coding bootcamp than most. The quality of it was better than I was expecting and I was very satisfied of the outcome of it and what I have learned. I hope the full stack + mobile development course is just as good.

The instructor helped me learn and understand parts of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The classmates also were there to help and caught small mistakes that would otherwise break my code. Everything was well organized and streamline, helping me understand exactly what I needed to do.
