Review

I chose Nucamp because of my ability to continue to work full-time while still attending in face classes that reinforced my learning. There were many opportunities to practice skills and you could spend more time reviewing concepts by having the material accessible to you all the time. The classes are very affordable and my teacher is wonderful.

Web Development Fundamentals

I chose Nucamp because I was interested in getting into Web Development.  The only experience I had with code was MySpace and that was about 14 years ago.   Shaun was a great instructor who really communicated well with his students and took time to check in on each one of us, especially during the workshops.  His feedback on our assignments was very helpful.  I definitely have way more knowledge now than I had before thanks to Nucamp.

HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (intro)

There are a lot of bootcamps out there. Like most people on a budget, I was looking to maximize the bang for my buck. I found Nucamp, saw what they offered, read what people said about them, looked at the price tag, and decided to give them a shot.

I signed up for HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (intro class). Katie (the instructor) was awesome! The class size was small and everyone was friendly and helpful. The tutorial videos/exercises were direct and challenging. I learned so much in four short weeks!

Like anything else, you’ll have to put in some serious effort to maximize it and Nucamp gives you the tools to do just that. Save yourself some money and give Nucamp a try!

Intro To Web Development (HTML, CSS, & JavaScript)

For the price of what you receive, you receive a lot of information. Having an actual designated instructor you can get fast and direct answers to is well worth the money. I do not recommend this course if you have no knowledge of web development (like I did). They made it work but I felt confused a lot. I think if you can do a free introductory course through an App or  an online program that is free that would help you start and this course would REALLY fine tune your skills while giving you great feedback on the concepts you are learning.

NuCamp Intro Course

I chose nucamp because I was looking to get a better idea about CSS/HTML/JS. It was affordable and I liked that it was only 4 weeks. Since it was only 4 weeks, it was pretty intense. You're learning a lot very quickly -- it sometimes felt like drinking from a firehose. However, I do feel like I have a strong foundation to go on and continue learning.

A weekend class

if you are looking for affordable coding bootcamp and flexability with your busy schedule then Nucamp is for you. What I like about Nucamp is that it fits into my work schedule. It's only one day a week. My professor is very helpful. instead of giving us the answer, she guides us to getting the answer, making me understand how I got the answer. Would be nice if the sessions were in a room. Titution for the 4 week bootcamp: HTML, CSS & JavaScript was well worth the $650. Money well spent. What I don't like about the Bootcamp is the enrollment: I enrolled on september but due to not having enough people enrolled in the course, there was gonna be no class. So I had no choice but to enroll to October and had to miss the first day of class even if I already booked my vacation a head of the bootcamp already. I was dissapointed that I wasn't able to attend the september session due to not having enough attendance. Overall the experience was good. I learned alot. What I like about Nucamp is that it fits into my work schedule, my professor is very helpful.

Great Starting Point...

The 4 week Web Fundementals course was great. I've been learning with free online only courses for a while, only to get stuck and have nowhere to go. Nucamp was different because you had both the instructor and fellow students to help and give feedback if you ran into a problem. I'm extremely glad I took it and looking forward to the full-stack program.

NuCamp Web Fundamentals classs

This is my first time taking CSS and Javascript courses and I'm glad I did it with NuCamp. Our instructor was great and the class was structured in any way beginners can understand easily.  Looking forward to taking the next class soon.

Online Course Review - Web Development Fundamentals

I chose Nucamp because I need the flexibility of learning at home during the week while my kids are in school. I am changing careers and this is a great option that offers the structure that I need (compared to self-learning) yet I can learn and have access to online instructors and interact with students when I need a little extra help.

Although I initially signed up for the in-person class in Houston, TX I ended up taking the online Fundamentals class because there were not enough students signed up for an in-person class so I was kind of disappointed. Now, however, Nucamp offers remote learning workshops so that you will be placed with local learners and an instructor in your area if there isn't enough students for an in-person weekly workshop.  (This is different from the 4 online learning classes they offer which are grouped by timezone.)  Because of this I am excited for the next course I signed up for to at least be paired with local people. I would like to make connections in my area in this industry since I am changing careers and I know that is crucial.

The online workshop instructor I had was great. She stayed after the class each week to make sure the students were understanding what the project was and assisted as needed. She was also open to the feedback that was given (you have to leave anonymous feedback each week as you move along). She also gave us more resources to utilize to further our learning and gave us career advice which was great.

During the week you watch content from a video instructor from a university. The speed of the course can be a bit fast if you are beginniner like myself but I found the provided resources to be excellent if I was confused.

Overall I am very happy I chose to go through the Fundamentals class. I think it has laid a great foundation which will help me in the Full Stack Web Developer course I have just started.

Excellent bootcamp! Web fundamentals

I took the Web FundamentaIs course for 4 weeks. It was well worth the time and money spent ($320). I chose Nucamp, because it is affordable and it offers a flexible way to learn code by learning via videos and exercises at home as well as in person through a weekly workshop. Nucamp is an excellent bootcamp. The video lectures are clearly explained and presented. Also, having access to other Nucampers via Slack is a huge value. This way you can learn from others. The instructor is available and willing to help students learn. Awesome, awesome bootcamp! What I learned I will be able to build upon.

NuCamp - Great Intro Bootcamp

I chose Nucamp because of the location and the ease of payment.  Not an expensive Bootcamp but it was very good for my learning and progression in coding!

Review

The instructor was a working "coder". He was very knowledgeable, patient and gave off the impression that he wanted to be there and not that he had to be there. Also when I would run into issues he would help me work through them and not always giving me the answers up front.

HTML/CSS/JavaScript, Bellingham WA, Oct-Nov 2019

I found the flipped classroom with Slack/email support to be an efficient learning delivery format. David Rossiter's video lectures were easy to follow, and videos I could rewatch were an immense improvement over live lectures in community college. At-home exercises and classroom workshops were challenging, especially once we started on JavaScript. Instructors were knowledgeable, patient, and generally easy to follow. Both Daniel and Minae monitored Slack and responded promptly to my questions.

For the Saturday workshops, I think it would have been more productive to spend class time on problem analysis and debugging rather than coding. Group activities for analyzing existing code/function calls and diagramming program logic and writing pseudo code for the week's workshop would have prepared us for coding the workshop on our own on the weekend and asking questions/collaborating via Slack.

Also, in class we briefly touched on using debugger features in Visual Studio Code and the browsers, but I would have liked more information on how to use debuggers, which tools working programmers use for debugging, how to chase down common error messages, etc. This might be a great subject for a future David Rossiter video.

WRT workload, supposedly Nucamp requires 1-3 hours/day of study. That might be true during the first couple of weeks for HTML/CSS. However, for JavaScript in weeks 3 and 4, I found myself spending 5-7 hours/day. There were a lot of videos to watch and take notes on, plus the exercises were harder. Expanding the 4-week fundamentals class to 6 weeks would mitigate this problem.

The curriculum had some minor glitches. Video sound quality was mostly excellent, but a handful of the videos had volume issues. Exercises and workshops could use editing. (Examples: On one of the exercises, it would have been helpful if the instructions had mentioned that it was ok for the alert box to display HTML elements as well as text strings. Also, in all the workshops, distinguishing overview from task steps was confusing at first because it wasn't clear that we were supposed to build out the code in separate files for part 1, part 2, etc.)

Overall, I was satisfied with my Bellingham Nucamp experience, and I plan to continue with the full-stack camp in January. I'm glad to have a break between rounds, though, because I've realized I still need to do a lot of work just to absorb the content from the HTML/CSS/JavaScript camp.

Great Intro Course!

I received my Bachelors degree in software development but felt that the languages and projects I worked on were not applicable to the job market now and opportunities in my area. I wanted to wonder into the world of full stack and felt this fundamentals course with Nucamp would be a good starting point. It completely exceeded my expectations. The course work is not too heavy so you could definitely manage a full time job while taking it. The weekly workshops were a great source of information and review. Each week we coded a project that built off of each weeks lessons. I look forward to moving on to the full stack course next.

The only con for me was that this course did not have a physical location in my area. That being said it was a remote location where both the teacher and other students were in my area.

Good experience

I took the introductory html, css and javascript course.  The Nucamp program is a good middle path between expensive full time classrooms and online self-taught classes that most people don't actually finish.  It was a good program that I can recommend.
