UX/UI Design Foundations

I recently completed the Avocademy UX/UI Foundations bootcamp course and loved it! The course was thoughtfully designed with a mix of videos articles/ reading. Each section built on the one previous to it and while we covered a ton of information, it never felt overwhelming or out of reach. The course is designed so that you finish with one complete portfolio project and there are mentors who are available to provide help and guidance along the way whenever needed. I really enjoyed by experience in the foundations course and am current enrolled in Avocademy's Career Jumpstart program!

I recently completed the UX/UI Avocademy foundations course and would recommend it to anyone wanting to build their design tools or transition into the UX/UI field. We worked our way through a project that hit on the ins and outs of research and design with continuous help from mentors along the way. I am now enrolled in the Career Jumpstart program, and am hoping to transition from graphic design/fine arts to UX/UI by the summer with the Avocademy team's help. Would recommend and I think this program just as valuable as any bootcamp out there.

I recently took an online course on UX/UI Foundations with Avocademy, and it exceeded all my expectations. The course was well-structured and covered all the important topics in UX/UI Design. The content was digestible and easy to follow.One of the things that impressed me the most about the course was the variety of content provided, from video lectures to hands-on activities. This made the learning experience dynamic and kept me engaged throughout the course.I also appreciated the supportive community of students and the quick response from the mentors whenever I had a question or concern. The course provided ample opportunities to connect with others, which helped me to expand my network and learn from others.In conclusion, I highly recommend this course to anyone looking for a career change, and/or to gain a comprehensive understanding of UX/UI Design. It has given me the tools and confidence to advance in my career, and I am sure it will do the same for others. Thank you Maca and Avocademy for making this all possible and for an amazing learning experience! This was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

Truly recommend this program for anyone transitioning into UX/UI!! A BIG pro about this program is how affordable it is! Other bootcamps I was looking at were mostly around 16k ....the Foundations course is ~2k! And you are able to do a payment plan.Another huge pro is that you have ~unlimited~ mentorship throughout the program. The mentors are a HUGE help and you can talk to them anytime on slack, can schedule calls with them about any questions you may have or can request for feedback on any of your work.Another big pro is that it is self-paced which I LOVED as I was working a full time job and 2 part time jobs. They are very communicative and understanding if anything were to affect your time in the program. i’ve The only con is that if you are a “classroom type learner”, this may not be for you. As I said, this is a self placed program and is intended for those who are able to be self motivated.At the end of it all, I ended with a portfolio made, a very proud project I developed and all the foundational skills I needed to continue as a designer.

I am so happy that I took the leap and signed up for the program. Money for me has always hindered making investments like this, however, the payment options are super and won me over and truly helped me commit. I've always wanted to get into the tech industry and admired those that do this type of work. The course itself is built to help and guide you along the way, there were so many resources available, tools, blogs, and videos outside of the course material they provide that really add to what you learn overall. The mentors are all so helpful and the fact that they are in the field and have an understanding and an openness to teach and answer any questions big or small I really appreciated. You have access to chat with peers and mentors, you have access to set one-on-ones with mentors as often as you'd like, and having that time to ask specific questions and get them answered and learn their tips and tricks was a big deal for my learning style. Also getting to do this all while having a full-time job online in my downtime is amazing, anyone can do this if you have the passion, it's also so fun! I highly recommend this course to anyone who is interested in learning UX/UI and all that comes with it, there is so much behind the role and it is so cool how you are set up for success with Avocademy. Big fan! :)

The foundations course was overall a great experience. The mentors are really nice and encouraging and are in your corner. I loved how they give you more than just the answers to your questions, they provide extra tidbits of advice when it comes to the tech industry and best practices in designing. If I were to change one thing I would want more mentors to be available, its very common to schedule a mentor session 5-7 days out before, and its shows why they are booked so often! Be prepared to advocate for yourself and to do some self-learning along the way, sometimes Figma can be finicky but mentors are always there to help! Give yourself grace through this course especially if you're in a full time job like I was. 

The Avocademy Foundation course is great. I get unlimited mentorship and there's a sense of community. I can see alumni share their wins when they get offered a job and connect with other students. I feel supported in the course as they guide me in my UX/UI journey. Ultimately, this led me to join their Career Jumpstart Program and Masterclasses. 

Avocademy was a great bootcamp, the mentorship and project checks were very helpful and made me feel less alone while learning a new skill. They also offer a Career jumpstart program after you finish bootcamp that helps you find a job!

I learned so much about UX/UI during this boot camp. I was taking a leap of faith in that I'd even fit in with the design community, however, the instructors and lessons learned will stay with me for a lifetime. I'm excited for what the next chapter of my career is with my new skills.

Before I started I kept asking myself do I really want to change careers again? Do I want to learn something new and start all over? Once I started those doubts were quickly answered to a resounding YES I DO! Sure there have been days that I’ve cried cause I felt it was really hard, but the mentors and my fellow students are so encouraging and help you sort out your pain points. Which I found to be the most positive experience in education that I’ve ever received! The course is taught in a way that will help you retain all this new information. I felt a solid foundation was formed in the Foundations course, and now that I’m in career jumpstart it’s like it’s all is coming together. I find myself thriving in my projects! It’s the best feeling in the world! When I talked to former students before applying and they explained how their experience was top notch, they weren’t lying! Also I know it’s scary with all these major tech layoffs but remember the top companies do this every couple of years but that doesn’t mean other companies aren’t hiring. You don’t have to work at a FAANG company to be successful. Now the question is are you ready for a life changing career? 

Enjoyed my experience in the Foundations course at Avocademy.  I wanted to make a career change and wasn't sure what to do until a close friend of mine sent me a TikTok video from Avocademy.  I researched a lot before signing up for the bootcamp since I had a lot of uncertainty, anxiety, etc.  But as soon as I started the bootcamp, I knew I had made the right choice.  I went through the course and also was working full-time, and the flexibility of the bootcamp helped me out a lot.  My favorite part is the unlimited mentorship you get as you go through and learn different aspects of UX/UI.  Mentors were so helpful with feedback throughout the course and really just having someone to talk to as I continue to learn.  I highly recommended Avocademy to anyone that's thinking about getting into the UX/UI field!

The Avocademy crew are doing the MOST to help their graduates bridge the gap between school and landing the first job.  This is where most people get stuck... after school ends; when new designers are left with the "Now what?" feeling.  They've got super kind mentors (constructive criticism) and lessons designed to help combat the imposter syndrome. I felt that their guidance was so helpful that I ended up coming back and participating in their Career Jumpstarts program to gain valuable experience in team leadership, project management, and producing professional products for our portfolios.

I want to start by saying how amazing it has been to find something I am so passionate about. The mentors and staff are absolutely amazing, they always work with you and there is no pressure to finish as there are no grades and only an estimated timeline for the course. I love the way they compiled all of the information into this course, as it is easy to navigate, visually appealing, and easy to understand. The activities and modules are set up wonderfully, and executed with ease. I am a visual learner and it is all explained well through each module. I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of this course. It was a lot of information, but somehow did not feel overwhelming and stressful. I found this course to be really fun and informative. I am so happy that I took this course and was relieved that it is only $2k as most bootcamps cost 5k+. I have already begun the next course called career jumpstart and learning so much. I cannot wait to use what I learn and apply it to the real world! 

I had been trying to find a way to break into the UX design field for a while and looking at different BootCamp programs. When I came across Avocademy I was sold by the price, the reviews, and the promise of unlimited mentorship. I wish I had made this choice even sooner. I love UX work and feel confident and encouraged after going through this program. My experience through UX/UI Foundations has been amazing and I was proud of the project I created during the course. They keep up with you and your schedule and really do offer unlimited mentorship (with the nicest people!). I needed this kind of structure to jump into a new career and build my confidence. 

Avocademy is an amazing school for new and upcoming designers and they have two courses, the first course is foundations where you learn the basics of UX/UI Design and the second course is Career Jumpstart for recent graduates from the foundations course. I am a recent Grad and thought the really covered all of the basics you can possibly learn for UX/UI Design. All of the mentors are amazing and really know how UX/UI design works. It is an investment, but so worth it!!

I was looking for a career change and wanted to explore and compare UX/UI programs. I decided on Avocademy and couldn't be happier with my decision. You get access to some great mentors, the course content is easy to digest and you can learn at your own pace within the  timeline they set for you. I really enjoyed the mentor feedback and interactions. I felt supported all the way through, even when I had some issues in the middle of the course, they were accommodating and set a new timeline for me to follow. The course does a great job setting up the foundations of UXUI. The community is incredible, lots of people from different backgrounds, all very willing to help one another. If you do take the course, make an effort to meet your fellow classmates and watch all the previous video guest presentations. The foundations course sets you up to understand the fundamentals, get a solid case study and prepare you for the Career Jumpstart if you are interested in building out your portfolio with real world case studies. The only criticism which is also a positive, is they are updating the course when they see confusion or better ways of presenting material. Sometimes this leads to a miscommunication in the assignment and what you are being reviewed on. But overall, if  you bring it to their attention, they are quick to fix it. At one point, towards the later sections, getting my work reviewed took several days, more than usual, so I was reading ahead and submitting my work link even when it wasn't ready, just to get in line for review. Ultimately, I had a very positive experience and would recommend to others wanting to explore or understand UXUI. 

In Avocademy I gained a lot of experience in UX/UI design, but the best part is that you have full mentor support and support with real client projects allowing you to learn and improve your design skills as well as get real-life experience.

I did a ton of research on which UX bootcamp would be the best fit for me. I was pivoting careers and wanted something that I could complete in less than a year and that was affordable. Avocademy was just that. While there were some great options out there, Avocademy offered unlimited mentorship throughout the program, which to me was invaluable. The lessons were thorough and the projects challenged me. When I got stuck on something I made sure to schedule a 1:1 with a mentor. I liked them so much I regularly scheduled a 1:1 each week and sometimes even twice a week. Getting to discuss my work with various industry designers continued to excite me for the moment I myself became one. The pride I felt when I finished was honestly better than when I received my college degree. I loved meeting other students and really enjoyed all of the staff at Avocademy. If you are considering joining, honestly just do it. The only thing I wish I had done differently was sign up even sooner than I did. 

I honestly couldn't imagine a better way for getting into UX/UI Design. I was able to learn the fundamentals at my own pace, there was always a mentor available to help me, and even during the moments where I felt like I was struggling and didn't quite grasp the material, I still knew I would make it through the course because I could always get the help and feedback I needed. The experience I gained throughout the entire process was well worth the price and I encourage anyone who is remotely curious about Avocademy to jump in and go for it.

Avocademy feels more like a community of supportive design mentors and colleagues than a bootcamp. Yes you have to work hard and fast and yes you have to have dedication to do well. But, I felt supported and encouraged the whole entire way. I had access to mentors to ask about the work of designers, design tips, and review of my designs throughout the course. The foundations program is a great way to see if you are a good fit for UX without having to commit to a lengthy and expensive bootcamp.
