Yellow Tail Tech

 I have a background in I.T., but what was missing was knowledge on Linux and I was looking for some guidance, great training, and a roadmap to follow.
Then, when I met Jubee, I instantly knew that was it. I decided to skip three full semesters as I am pursuing my BS in Computer Science at University of Houston Downtown and enrolled in Yellow Tail Tech.
The enrollment process was straight-forward and very convenient. I met a great team of trainers: Allan, Thierry, Georges, Zee and others. The support I got was amazing and the possibilities are limitless.
I met a lot of classmates who don't have a background on  I.T. but at Yellow Tail, we all entered Linux world with the most supportive network, dedicated trainers, great resources, and fun environment.
I really enjoyed having discussions on different topics with my classmates and we always learn new things from our trainers. Diversity, inclusion, and respect are seen and practiced at Yellow Tail Tech and that's something I value a lot. What amazed me as well is that, Allan, the main instructor is very open to any questions we have. He is very polite and respectful as the rest of the trainers.Yellow Tail Tech is the best learning institute for me, and no matter what your background is, you will be welcome here.
I enjoyed this journey a lot, with great, hands-on and remarkable experience that I will never forget and will always be thankful for.Yellow Tail Tech has trained so many people and saved a lot of people who are drowning in careers that they are not growing from.

THE GREATEST JOURNEY IN MY CAREER:

Yellow tail Tech is the best place to meet exceptional instructors, to receive great incentives toward further learning, and to meet the best fellow students as well.
I have learned to appreciate our Lead Instructor Thierry with his charisma in conveying instructions to the students, Zee with the daily support he's giving us,
Cedric in helping us avoid the pitfalls of his own experience, Allan with his deep knowledge of the course, and
above all, we have all been blessed by the selfless devotion of David, by helping us with his classes every weekend.
I wanted to emulate him, but not having a premium Zoom account, or not having a laptop that can remain intact for more than 45 minutes have prevented me in many occasions.  Thank you to all of my fellow students who have helped directly or indirectly during these past few months.
My final advice to those who think on taking the test in 2-3-4-5 months, DO NOT WAIT that long as this test will be grueling to you by the time you finally decide to do so..

I want to start by making this clear. Last year, around early 2020 I did not know anything about IT aside from clearing my browser, restarting and shutting down my PC.This Linux/AWS school is straight-forward and I’m a living proof that you will catch on during the whole process.Everything was hands-on, the explanations and learnings were clear, they have the best learning platform, the most fun student environment and there are several ways to review to stay up-to-date with your studies.I never once felt left out, confused nor lost during the whole process of learning.This is not just a typical review to get you to click and call; this is exactly what you need if you need to get into the IT world.
The instructors are amazing and excellent at what they do. There’s nothing better than having instructors that are actually working in the field, to help you prepare and enter the same field with a clear knowledge.Yellow Tail Tech also has a great communication platform to stay in touch with your instructors and fellow students. There are no blind spots through this learning process.
Yellow Tail Tech has the best format that I’ve never seen. I’ve research, asked and looked at other IT learning platforms but Yellow tail Tech was the best out there altogether.The lectures, live labs, recorded sessions (to go back and review what you may have missed), plenty study groups options and direct access for any help you may need to get back in track.

I recently finished the six-month Linux for jobs program and earned the RHCSA cert. It's been a lot of time between the live classes and studying. Without the support from instructors, and my cohort it would not have been possible. I had the privilege to go through this program with likeminded individuals who all had one goal. I can honestly say that I'm loving every moment of my training at Yellow Tail Tech. One thing I've come to realize is that if there's a topic I don't fully understand, it's not because the material is difficult. It's simply because I haven't devoted enough attention to it. Being a student at Yellow Tail Tech has been an amazing experience for me. The IT infrastructure and networking program materials are incredibly detailed yet presented in simple, easy to understand terms. You don't have to worry about getting lost in technical jargon while you’re on the learning platform or any other resources. The instructors are exceptional at explaining concepts clearly, and they make sure we grasp the content thoroughly. I worked as a boutique employee before I enrolled at Yellow Tail Tech, the curriculum was very well-curated and taught by top-notch educators. In my class, David was our lead instructor and he was just the best! There’s so much fun in class, we don’t just learn but we converse like we’re all friends that have a common goal. The program structure really helped me all the way to the cert prep and it’s true what Jubee said from the very beginning if we focus and follow the steps they provided we would get the job.
I especially like the fact that I can communicate with my classmates all the time because we have a slack channel so every time we have some topics we don’t understand we can send it there and our instructors are also on the channel so they can comment or give feedback as well. I also like that everyone, especially the staff, not just our instructors, is very encouraging which makes me more motivated to learn.
It’s been 6 months since I landed the job and I’m very happy about it. I worked hard and I got what I wanted. Learning at Yellow Tail Tech was one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life. I would encourage everyone who wants a career change to learn at Yellow Tail Tech.

Yellowtail Tech has a great beginning program for those who are looking to pivot into IT. There are other self taught programs and bootcamps available, but I chose Yellowtail Tech because of the opportunity to learn from professionals in the field. The instructors explain things very thoroughly and they're great people who genuinely care about your success. They're also very relatable because they come from backgrounds that are non-IT related and are alumni of the very school that they are teaching. The course work may seem intimidating at first, but if you stick with it, keep asking questions and practice, it'll become very easy to grasp. Yellowtail also has an awesome network of alumni, career success coaches and TA's who are ready to answer your questions when you have them. They also have built a great community amongst the students and Instructors, it feels like a second family.  Read less

Well, I will say Yellow Tail Tech is very interesting. It's very fun. Our instructor is very, very good at what he does. Both instructors are very good at what they do. They're very well-versed at making sure that any questions that we have they get answered. And they're also making sure that we understand exactly what the process is before we even move forward to the next module. It is a struggle because I'm older and school is one of the things I never thought I would be doing again. But it's just a matter of pushing through that adversity. I will say it's a great experience that I'm enjoying. Mr. Allan, our instructor, is very, very knowledgeable of Linux Red Hat, the system. Listening to him talk and see how he navigates through it is like one day, you'll be there. So it is inspiring to know that the same path that I'm on now, he took that same path. And he is an experienced teacher, he says, "Hey, I'm willing to answer your questions, whatever you need." If we send him a message on Slack, he'll reply. I know he has tons of students, so it's probably hard for him sometimes, but he does his best to make sure that he communicates with us.I do see the accolades of the past students and some current students and what they've achieved, they've passed some tests. So you do get to see that on the general channel of all the students that have passed through Yellow Tail Tech and some that are still here. So I will say that it is encouraging to know that no matter what, I truly believe that everyone at Yellow Tail would be there for you to push you and to help you get to the goal, which is to get certified so that you can start working in the field of either AWS or Linux system admin. And our current class, I think we started out at a pretty high number. I think we're down to the ones that are going to be here for the long haul. So it's pretty good to get to Slack and talk to some of them. And for those of you that don't know Slack, it's a messaging system for IT. So you get used to it once you start working in it. The program I enrolled in at Yellow Tail Tech is very enjoyable. I had a lot of fun. Allan, Georges, and Armand were my instructors and they were very good. Any questions I've had, they followed through. Any assistance I needed, they were there to help out. I don't really have too many questions about anything that are not answered, or ever, really. From day one, I was curious about how it was going to go. And we started out with the basics and as it progressed, it got a little more difficult, but it's all fun if you like a challenge. I'm enjoying it. I'm looking at Linux groups on Facebook now and all sorts of stuff. The speed of the course is also good. I don't feel like it's rushed. I don't feel like it's too fast. I feel like it's at a good speed. And I feel like all the content is consumable. And then even when you get to cert prep, I feel like, with all the information given, you still have time to go back and consume it again, because it’s like this 40% new content, 60% still the same. It’s an overview of everything with some new concepts added to what you've already previously known. So I think it's pretty good. I'm satisfied. I also like the community that Yellow Tail Tech established. Since at first I didn’t know my classmates at first and getting to know them is pretty interesting. I’m currently in cert prep right now and it’s going pretty well for me. Read less

As a student at Yellow Tail Tech, I was impressed by the fact that this program is very organized. I have been through a previous training and I really appreciate that they're very organized. That all the information is already given, and I think people need to appreciate the fact that everything is handed to you at your hands and all you have to do is revise the information. The experience I had previously, it's more like you got to go out there and research information, but then what's the point of trying to look all over the place for information if they provide you with information that’s right in front of you. What I appreciate the most about Yellow Tail Tech is how organized they are which makes it easier for me to focus.
The team is really knowledgeable. They're ready to answer all questions and I think overall the process, how Yellow Tail Tech handles teaching others, I think they make it as simple as possible so I do really appreciate that.
I'll give a shout out to Allan. I think Allan is probably like the gold mine for Yellow Tail Tech, and the only reason why I'm saying this is because he seems like he has a lot of patience when it comes to answering questions. He will take the time to explain to you the material and if you have any questions, he will explain it to you. I think that is the big takeaway out of all of that. From learning from nothing to something, because not everybody is on the same page as Allan when answering questions. Read less

I was working at Amazon when one of my co-workers transitioned into Linux. I was there seeing him as he entered Yellow Tail’s program, how he graduated, took the internship, and got a job in a span of months!
 
His journey inspired me to at least try it and I’m so happy that I did. I’m really grateful for all of our instructors, especially Thierry, Zee, and Allan. These guys are the best! They’re the most knowledgeable people I know who helped me refine my skills in I.T.
 
Can I also say how awesome the program structure is? It’s so well-developed and it’s constantly adapting to the changes in technology. This is definitely a huge upgrade to my knowledge in I.T.

I attended this program while having a day job as a DevOps Engineer. I thought there was something lacking for me to be able to grow further and Yellow Tail Tech filled that hole.
 
They helped me develop the skills that I already had as a DevOps Engineer and made me feel grounded.
 
I really loved the one on one sessions I had with our Student Support Coach. She helped me build a career path and really took time to help me create my resume and online presence. Even when I was already in DevOps, this is the first time someone really helped me with these kinds of things.
 
One more thing that I loved about Yellow Tail Tech was how they created this positive student environment where all of us are helping each other, pushing each other to succeed. We even had these weekend review sessions to help us even more.

 Even though I already had a career in Armed Security, I was feeling burned out and started researching options for a career change, that's when I found Yellow Tail Tech, which helped me get my current job as a Linux System Admin.Out of all the programs I looked into, Yellow Tail Tech seemed to be the best option for me.  I booked a career strategy session and was pleased to learn that the program is structured in such a way that you are taking classes 2-3 times a week but also have all these additional resources available, such as a student platform, individualized attention from instructors when you have doubts and that they foster an environment where everyone is looking out for each other, just to name a few.I am so glad I gave Yellow Tail Tech a chance. After being in Psychology for a long time, I wanted to go into a career that would give me a similar income but kept me closer to my family and gave me better career-life balance, so I started looking into IT.  I took my masters in I.T. but that wasn’t enough to help me develop a career, and that’s when I saw Yellow Tail Tech.Yellow Tail Tech was the only program that I found in my area that provided what I was looking for.  From the very beginning, just looking at the course I could tell that this was the right fit for me.  Having live sessions at least twice a week, and in the evenings was a big plus.  I also put in an hour at the beginning and end of my day to go over the materials, practice and even review past sessions since everything is recorded and available to us at any time.  The instructors are industry professionals with an ocean of knowledge, and they really make sure to pass on that knowledge to you in a way that is easy to understand and are very approachable.  They are also always available for any additional questions you might have even outside of class.  Thank you, Yellow Tail, for providing me with the knowledge and also providing all the support I needed to start my career in I.T.  The foundation that you provided has been life-changing and I will always recommend this program to anyone that is looking to get into the field but feels that it can’t be done.  Let Yellow Tail Tech show you the way!
