Springboard is an online learning platform that prepares students for the tech industry’s most in-demand careers with comprehensive, mentor-led online programs in software engineering, data science, UI/UX design, cybersecurity, tech sales, and more. All Springboard courses are 100% online, remote, and self-paced throughout an average of 6-9 months. Insightful, Tangible, and Fruitful
The curriculum was not daunting and truly set you up for fruition in the Comp TIA Security+ exam. The most illuminating part of Springboard was the advice and motivation provided by my Mentor. However, Springboard curriculum shines in that students are able to practice hands-on design skills through 4 portfolio projects, one of which you work with fellow design students and an industry client/ company. Additionally, the student is paired with a mentor that guides the student through learning the material and ideally, motivates them. Springboard's support team is great about getting back to you in a timely manner and making sure your questions are answered. I felt they tried their best to work with me on scheduling course extensions.
For me, the biggest challenge with the framework of this curriculum is that it is self-study/paced. If you struggle with time management, this will likely be challenging for you. There is a student Slack channel where you can connect with other students to study together virtually, but other than that I'm not aware that there was any other way to find peer support till the final project.
Overall, I think if your strengths lie in time management and consistency, taking this course would be great, especially if you are transitioning careers. The greatest value I found is 1) industry mentor, 2) hands on experience with the material and quality projects to add to your portfolio, and 3) working with an industry company. I had a really good experience with the program. I have a family and the ability to do the work on my own schedule was crucial for me. A lot of the times I was working very late at night after my kids went to bed. I had a good experience with my mentor and the support team anytime I had a technical question or a question about the course.
