I really enjoyed this course, I feel accomplished because I felt like a learned a lot of new ways of thinking while coding. Our professor was very knowledgeable and is very patient with everyone, including new people who just started programming. The course is very well explained and gives small details that help the learner understand what is happening. I would only recommend to add a little bit of more details/help for workshop #3. Other than that I'm very satisfied. Just know that your success depends on yourself and nothing more, material is there and is very helpful but If you need someone to be pushing to complete your assignments then I do not recommend this bootcamp for you.  Read less

I have been looking for a way to continue my education in coding, software engineering, full stack etc and I saw that my company would pay for this. After a few youtube videos and my own research NuCamp seemed like the perfect fit for my schedule. My sister is a coder for a major bank, and has been working for them since she graduated college. Given that she had no experience with coding, the company provided a bootcamp for her to learn the basics which really helped her excel in her career there. I've been inspired by her story, and decided to give it a try. I decided to enroll to NuCamp because it was very affordable but after taking the course, i believe it was a great decision. I took the four-week web development class and i really enjoyed it, the instructor was very thorough and helpful as well. This is my first bootcamp and I am about to graduate from the fundamental course this week. I did lots of research on bootcamps and was always told that they were going to challenge you and that you have to invest lots of time into the course. I was able to complete the whole week's coursework with projects included in a single day. Each week you have a 4 hour live class where the instructor just walks through the week's project with you all the way through and then you turn in the assignment afterwards. I did have a basic understanding of HTML and CSS going into the course but I figured we would do more with HTML and CSS than the bare minimum. There isn't much of a challenge and I am glad I decided to take the fundamental course instead of doing the full path as I feel like I wasted my money.

I have no idea if the other courses are great and challenging but I can't take a chance of wasting a lot of money on a course that is basically one of the self-paced, free bootcamps you find on the internet. The instructor was amazing and was always willing to help students that were having issues. If it wasn't for the instructor I would have rated the bootcamp course a 1 or 2. The videos are so dry and the narrator will put you to sleep so I decided to just go and read the JS documentation instead and basically do my own research on topics and even make my own spin on the assignments to challenge myself. The instructor was great and didn't fail me on assignments for not just completely the assignments with the very basic requirements that we were given and actually liked us to go above and beyond.

TLDR;
If you know the basics of HTML and CSS and just need to learn Javascript, I would just skip this class. Maybe try their front-end class and see if that was challenging for you. Coursework is very basic and you can complete a week's work in one afternoon and the class is setup to hold your hand and not challenge you like bootcamps are meant to do from what I have read. I might look at another bootcamp to do Full-Stack tracks as I am unsure Nucamp's other courses can offer a quality I would like based on what I saw in this fundamental course. Read less

Nucamp is a great way to get your feet wet. They do lots of great examples, the teachers are helpful and generally have been Nucamp grads in a way. Ultimately there are lots of ways to learn how to code, but Nucamp was the most cost effective option I could find and one that helps you land a career later! Whatever you do, make sure you take the time to build real projects. This will help you get  your foot in the door, especially if you don't have a BS of Computer Science. Read less

Nucamp is offering courses for in-demand technologies with a reasonable part-time schedule and instructor guidance along the way. So far my Nucamp experience has been a blast! It has only been 5 weeks, but I have learned a lot about bootstrap, javascript and google cloud services. I enrolled into Nucamp so that I may transition into a new carrer path and it has been the right choice. By the end of this course I want to land a job in the tech industry preferably a frontend developer role and make my own application. Read less

I was looking for something, but I didn't know what it was exactly. I found myself searching for a lot of things and one day coding caught my eye so, for weeks I researched how I could best approach this new skill. Then I started looking into boot camps and Nucamp stuck out because of the positive review and the affordable pricing. It was an easy decision and so far the best decision. My cohort instructor was very knowledgeable and very helpful. My cohort-mates and my instructor have inspired me to really go after this new skill and make it a career! After my next boot camp (Front-End) I am hoping that I will find a job in coding that will lead me to a whole new world in tech. Read less

I just completed the Web Dev Fundamentals and I had an amazing time and learned quite a  bit.  If you come here with a want to learn you will learn.  You will get what you put in to it.  My instructor, Alicia, Pearse, was knowledgeable and extremely involved.  The other instructors pop in to help everyone in all classes as well.  I would also like to add that Ludo is 100% dedicated to this program and the community.  He provides weekly meetings called campfire.  These are available to everyone even if you don't attend NuCamp.  I start Full Stack next and am excited for that even more so after completing fundamentals.  Thank you NuCamp!  You are awesome! Nucamp is incredible. I had begun learning to code myself, and after completing a Javascript course, I knew I wanted a little more help in filling in the gaps.

 While there aren't extreme deadlines and intensive assessments that might fail you out, like other bootcamps, Nucamp is perfect for balancing anything else one has going on, and learning to program. 

I feel I have the ability to go out into the tech world and truly do well. The instructors are amazing and helpful, especially if you put in your due diligence to understand content as well. I personally didn't need to be terrified of failing out in order to learn to code, I just needed resources and a few deadlines, and I loved it!

I stand behind any bootcamp that gives this type of access to learning to code. Bravo to Nucamp!  Read less

Based on the first five-week course, Python Fundamentals, I want to share my experience with the Nucamp Back End, SQL, and DevOps with Python Bootcamp. 
I like Nucamp because the founder, Ludo, is transparent about the program. In his love weekly YouTube show, Campfire, he mentioned that students would have to supplement using this program. 
He says there are better and free curriculums, but the main reason for choosing Nucamp is the weekend 4-hour live workshop. He talks about how people rarely finish these programs. I've started a few and haven't finished, so I relate.
So, going into the program, I knew it wouldn't have the best curriculum.
So, why choose Nucamp?
 I chose Nucamp because it's affordable. When I signed up, it was five payments of $385 with the early bird discount. 
Also, the workshop provides the accountability I need. Since I will meet with my cohort on the weekend, I will complete everything on time, so I won't be behind. 
The first couple of weeks were not smooth sailing. As I got used to the assignments, I learned that I needed to be able to write what my code was doing in paragraph form.
 Explaining it in words helped me learn all of the proper terminologies for Python. The weekend workshop assignment always explained what to do using Python terminology, so I would waste lots of time figuring out what I was being asked to do. 
That struggle helped me see that I wasn't learning the concepts. So, I started adding comments to the exercises in my code files, explaining definitions of things and why I'm doing what I'm doing. 
As I mentioned, Nucamp lessons will ask you to seek outside sources to learn each lesson.
Some resources I use are Code With Mosh, Python for Everybody, and Udacity's free Intro to Python course. 
Nucamp asks for feedback on the teacher and the curriculum every week. Feedback is shared with the teacher, and it's supposed to be anonymous. 
My teacher adjusted his approach to the class after receiving feedback. He ensured we knew he wanted us to ask questions if we needed to. My overall impression of Nucamp is that it is responsive to feedback. 
They update their curriculum more often than some of the other boot camps I considered. And, since it's affordable, if I decide I don't want to work with Python or SQL in the future, I won't feel like I wasted money by trying it.
To recap, I chose Nucamp because it is affordable, offers live help in the weekend workshops or help by chat on Slack, and offers structured learning and accountability.
Since outstanding curricula are available online for free, you don't need a boot camp to learn code. I chose this route for support and accountability, but many choose to learn independently. Read less

This review was required as part of the curriculum. This bootcamp is affordable and flexible. It was the right choice for me as I have a Full time job and cannot attend an in person bootcamp five days a week. Do not expect to learn everything from the bootcamp. My recommendation for anyone who is applying is to utilize outside resources beforehand. Classes move fast and you need to be able to keep up. I took a few udemy classes before this and got a few books on python which really helped. I'm not sure I would have made it otherwise. For the price this bootcamp is well worth the money. Read less
