Overall I had a great experience with this program. It was the perfect entry point into software development. The curriculum was solid but since it is a new program the course structure still needs a bit of refinement. Management was fantastic, and accommodating. Mock interviews were the norm which was a huge benefit in preparing for real interviews with clients. It's paid training and if you can study, prepare, and perform you'll have access to a solid client list all across the country. The biggest difficulty for me was information about the process wasn't always clear which can leave you feeling anxious. However, this was a tiny issue relative to all the positive experiences I had with the program and with the company.  Read less

I had a good time with the JUMP program and am glad I went through it. I was part of the Mainframe cohort and learned many different technologies. I learned JCL COBOL and CICS all for mainframe development. The instructor for our cohort was also very knowledgeable and had many years of experience in the field. A helpful bridge course! The lessons refreshed my previous knowledge and understanding while also introducing me to new concepts, and provided practical experience to cement those concepts. They also offer a slew of different resources, including additional coding review and interview prep, which are extremely useful to take advantage of. I enjoyed the cohort I was with in Cognixia's Future Horizons program (I had to pick JUMP by Cognixia because I couldn't pick Future Horizons). Training goes over standard Java boot camp content in an abbreviated fashion. While it's better to learn straight from the source (or on your own), the lack of a cost makes this program a good learning support, especially with relatable instructors. I haven't experienced the job assistance yet, but they said they'd help after the main program while providing exercises for us to complete every two weeks after the program. Read less

This program has been great so far. I am coming into the last week now, and it's been an eye-opening experience to re-learn the fundamentals. The strongest point of this program is definitely the way in which the material is taught. The slides, exercises, and explanations really go deep and comprehensive. The material is taught in a way that is much more effective for learning than the way my University taught. I would highly recommend this program. It's a great course which goes through each topic in great detail with numerous demos to make sure not only you understand the topics base level but also it's use cases and detailed examples. This Python Data Engineering program, or whatever program you go through this program, will start you from the roots up into the branches and leaves of the topic that you are learning. That is to say, you will learn about the fundamentals of a topic, and also learn various in-depth knowledge and concepts from topics branching off from this main core topic.

In the case of Python Data Engineering, you will learn the fundamentals of Python, but also learn about the Pandas, PySpark, NumPy, Seaborn, MatplotLib libraries, not to mention AWS, UNIX, and Git!

That is a great portfolio of knowledge to showcase on your resume and to have ready for any data engineering interviews!

It was a very good training program with a great combination of new material from beginners to high-intermediate level skill-sets. Covering Python, MySQL, and AWS in 10 weeks was ambitious, but the JUMP program does all three very well in that time. Mr. Charles Dunn is a fantastic instructor because he's charming, funny, and so familiar with the topics. There are ample opportunities for job placement, and the interview prep done with Mr. Vikram Verma and Ms. Sierra White are very helpful and good too. The templates for resumes, sample interview questions, and interview roleplay all helped me tremendously with becoming more comfortable interviewing--previously a great weakness of mine.  Read less

Cognixia's JUMP program has absolutely fantastic teachers, mentors, and staff. Everyone I met that works there is kind, supportive, responsive, knowledgeable, and extremely professional. My interactions with the staff, along with viewing a sample of their Java coursework, was the reason I chose JUMP over other programs. I really appreciate their director and think that the program set such a good balance of professionalism while still feeling casual, approachable, and fun. 

The only disclaimer is that you need to be willing to move...but honestly, if you're young and starting your career, why aren't you?? Where is your sense of adventure?? They have really great locations. For other people who are older or transitioning careers, that can be a big setback. I hope that in the future, they might consider offering some other tracks for people who are transitioning careers if the location is an absolute deal-breaker for them. I was doing a transition myself and it wasn't a problem for me at all- in fact, I really wanted to move and it is a great option to find something out of state (hard to do without connections)! However, my personal situation wasn't tied down to any one place.

My training was online and it worked very well- I did not feel like the training quality was affected. It built on what I learned from my technical degree (solid fundamentals and an MVC framework). I did the Full Stack Java course and we covered Java fundamentals (good review and still some new stuff for me even w/ plenty of Java in school), JavaScript/HTML/web stuff, Spring Boot, some AWS. The pace is challenging, but doable if you are willing to put in effort. It's more challenging for people that don't have programming degrees. You must demonstrate you are putting in effort to succeed, and everyone that finished the program is someone I think would make an excellent employee (hard working and team players). 

I do hope they keep the online option for training even after the pandemic, because moving twice is definitely a lot to ask (one of my only complaints), and I don't really think it's necessary. However, maybe some people prefer that format for training.

One of the other perks about the program is the interview preparation. You WILL be prepared for interview questions, and they help you a lot with that! 

It worked out great for me because I worked hard and spoke up in class, and I was rewarded for it - got a job at Microsoft after training! I only had a two-year technical degree and was coming from a previous music background. I loved working with their teachers and am glad to have met everyone I did through JUMP!
