Coding Temple

I was apprehensive about choosing a boot camp as reviews are scattered no matter where you go; look long enough and you'll find a reason to attend and not to attend every single one. That being said, I'm incredibly happy I decided to join Coding Temple in the part-time cohort and, while it wasn't as comprehensive as a 4-year degree (go figure), it was entirely worthwhile. Christian and Dylan were wonderful instructors and I'm grateful I was able to be in their cohort. Before Coding Temple I had a smattering of CS experience but was largely illiterate, I'm pleased to say that's no longer the case and I'm now ready to pursue bigger and better things.

My advice: apply for at least a month out and, beforehand, take a few self-study courses in the material that will be covered; the pace is brisk but manageable, and much more so if you aren't being introduced to these subjects entirely for the first time. Do that (and ask a lot of questions) and you'll find massive success here and be well on your way to graduating with the ability to hit the ground running when you're done. You will not know everything there is to know but you will be significantly more literate than you were and have a very solid foundation.

The recruiting portion got a little rough, but thereafter once the cohort started, it was smooth sailing for the most part. I did the PART-TIME Full Stack Software Engineering...The Curriculum was difficult, especially coming from knowing NOTHING about coding. Christian and Dylan were absolutely great instructors! They always made sure to ask if there were any questions mid-lecture to ensure everyone was following along & took some time after class to help you with any questions. You do get what you put it...I took time to study for a few hours after class and took a few hours to study before class. 

Will be back in a few months to provide feedback on the Job Assistance portion since I the cohort just ended. 

My teachers Dylan and Christian were both very thorough, patient, and helpful throughout. Easy to talk with and to get ahold of. 

I taught myself quite a bit in preparation and it made the first couple of weeks easy, but once Flask kicked in I very quickly got sucked into the black hole and never came back out 😂.

If you are thinking about taking the course, I would recommend learning some of the material ahead of time it gave me some room to work on my capstone throughout the course instead of just at the very end.

I just graduated yesterday and I’m very excited for the next portion where I get moved over to the alumni and job search side of coding temple. 
I obviously don’t have a job yet but I’ll come back and update this when I do with more info on the job search team. 

My classmates were incredible and it was so helpful to have a community of peers who were struggling along with me.

Overall loved the course and would 10/10 do it again. 

I would have to say that I recommend Coding Temple 10/10 times. My instructors were really cool, you could tell that they had a lot of knowledge to share. I definitely felt challenged throughout the course, but there was always help available. Another great thing that was that I was able to make some friends along the way. I ended up teaming up with the 3 other students where we created an awesome bond. We helped each other through out the course and will more than likely still be in contact long after graduation.

This program is definitely tough and requires commitment but the good thing about this program is that this program does not want to see you fail. Remember it is a BOOTCAMP. It is fast paced. Ryan and Alex (my professors) were extremely patient with all us. They made it easy to come and talk to them if we had any questions or if we didn't understand anything they would explain it until it clicked. Coming in this program, I had little to absolutely no experience and here I am at least getting the basics and more to build websites, apps and so on. It's tough like I said and it can be overwhelming but if you can hang on and push through that, you will be fine. Take advantage of the resources given. There are numerous resources from getting help from other staff like Sarah, the Dylans and so much more. 

Embarking on the full-stack cohort experience at Coding Temple was one of my most insightful journeys, significantly enriched by my incredible instructors, Dylan and Christian. Right from the onset, their expertise was unmistakable.

Dylan, with his ever-enthusiastic spirit, made sure no stone was left unturned when it came to our learning. He wasn't just teaching; he was mentoring with a personalized touch, recognizing the skills I entered with, and pushing me beyond those boundaries. There wasn't a challenge too big for him to tackle, and his approachable demeanor meant no question went unanswered.

Christian, on the other hand, brought a complementary balance with his pragmatic approach to coding. Every project was a new adventure, and with Christian's guidance, they turned into playgrounds for innovation and learning. His dedication shone brightest through his consistent efforts to make complex concepts accessible and engaging for everyone.

Together, Dylan and Christian created a collaborative and inspiring learning environment. They didn't just cover the curriculum; they instilled a passion for tech, evident in every project I undertook. Their supportive and interactive teaching style significantly enhanced the in-class experience, making the intensive learning process not just bearable, but utterly enjoyable.

It's rare to find instructors who view your success as their own, and this level of commitment was a constant source of motivation. I am immensely grateful for their guidance, and it's safe to say that my growth wouldn't have been possible without their invaluable input.

To Dylan and Christian, thank you for not just being extraordinary instructors but for being the mentors that every coding enthusiast should have the honor of learning from. Your blend of professional wisdom, patience, and genuine interest in our success is what makes this cohort experience stand out. Keep inspiring!

I just want to leave a quick review for instructors Alex, Brendan and Ryan! They were all great instructors and I learned a lot of useful information throughout this bootcamp.
I am appreciative of the structure that the SE bootcamp provides as having structure is essential to be successful in the bootcamp.
The coursework is very fast paced but doable if you dedicate the time and energy to getting the required homework and other tasks completed on time. If you fall behind, you do have time to make it up throughout the cohort, but towards the last few weeks it can be a stressful time to do so. My advice is to put your all into the program, do the homework on time, complete other tasks on time and practice the material taught.

I just completed the cohort and am looking forward to the Alumni side of things. This is the part of the program that prepares graduates for job hunting.

I had an incredible experience at Coding Temple. The instructors (Flex team—Brandt, Donovan, and Saint) were not only highly knowledgeable but also incredibly supportive and always available to provide guidance. Their continuous feedback and reassurance boosted my confidence and made me feel like I was making great progress. I wanted to share my experience with Coding Temple, and it's not been a positive one, unfortunately. I enrolled in their program in July 2022 with high hopes of finding a job in the tech industry within six months of graduation. I graduated in September 2022, but as of today, I'm yet to secure a job that would allow me to start repaying my loans.



I reached out to Coding Temple multiple times, trying to get some guidance and support in my job search. After a long wait, I finally got in touch with Mike-Lynn. However, the response I received was far from helpful. I was met with empty phrases and essentially told that it's my fault I'm in this situation, along with the classic "pull up your bootstraps" advice. This response not only lacked empathy but also failed to address the real challenges I've been facing.



My current situation is dire; I'm homeless and living in my car, all while desperately trying to secure employment. My intention is not to resort to negative reviews or legal action, but my circumstances leave me with no other choice. I need immediate and meaningful assistance.



I'm reaching out here in the hope that someone from Coding Temple will see this and take my situation seriously. I believe in the potential of the skills I gained from their program, but the promises made have not been upheld.



I'm eager to find a solution and fulfill my financial obligations, but I need Coding Temple's support to make that happen. If you're considering enrolling in their program, I urge you to think carefully about my experience before making a decision.

I had a great experience at Coding Temple. While the pace was challenging for me at times the support they provide is exceptional from pre-work all the way through to post graduation. Brandt did an outstanding job teaching the material, was always there to clarify when I got stuck and even helped me troubleshoot a computer issue halfway through the course. I am very happy I chose Coding Temple for my education and would highly recommend them for anyone looking to start a career in tech.

i just got graduated the overall experience is 10/10 very nice bootcamp the staff are great and they just willing to help instructors are very nice and informative specially my instructor Brandt, he is such a cool person as well as a teacher, the way he explains and delivers the ideas to you is great i learned a lot from/and because of him also Brendan was cool too although he was with us only the first 3-4 weeks but he gave us lots of resources where we can learn from, Brandt did great job handling the class on his own for 8-9 weeks. for me the  Curriculum was decent starting with html/css going to python and then SQL  as database following that learning flask a python framework finishing with JS/typeScript and react as frontend frame work I couldn't ask for more tbh. the course wasn't hard but i would say it was above average, if you are someone who loves learning  new stuff or just love learning in general and your punctual enough you will be fine because you gotta keep on working/coding/reading though out the bootcamp, you will have free time some weeks but you gotta keep it ahead don't ever fall behind once you do, it's gonna be hard to catch up also you will learn seriously a lot once i joined i didn't know that much about tech but now i have a decent knowledge which is really cool learning all of this in this short time, one more thing i want to mention is week 5-6 which is gonna be kinda the hardest week because you will be building your first app but don't worry your instructor is there to help after week 6 thing will get better specially when you will learn react, REACT will make life much easier, lastly guys you gotta love what you do and love tech in general, if you don't i am not sure if you will make, thats overall my honest review to the bootcamp and the course in general i enjoyed it, it was really fun i get to know nice ppl, also don't listen or mind bad reviews YOU WILL GET WHAT YOU PUT no room for laziness  guys :)

I recently had the privilege of attending the Software Engineering Boot Camp at Coding Temple with instructors Ryan and Alex, and it's safe to say that my experience was nothing short of excellent.
From the outset, Ryan and Alex demonstrated an unmatched expertise in their field. They navigated the complex world of coding with an admirable finesse, breaking down intricate concepts into digestible, comprehensible pieces. It's clear they both possess a deep understanding of software engineering, and their ability to relay this knowledge in a straightforward and approachable manner was instrumental in my progress.

In summary, the ten weeks I spent under the guidance of Ryan and Alex have been transformative. They've not just taught me the basics of software engineering, but they've also imbued me with the confidence and curiosity to explore, learn, and grow in this field. I would highly recommend this boot camp to anyone looking to gain a solid foundation in software engineering. The course is intense and challenging, but with instructors like Ryan and Alex, every step of the journey becomes an enriching and enjoyable learning experience.

My experience with the bootcamp was moderately satisfactory. The curriculum primarily functions as a launchpad, providing you with the capacity to assimilate new languages and frameworks rather than to gain mastery. Given the constraints of the 10-week full-time course, this approach is understandable. However, the pre-work encourages more reading than hands-on practice, and I noticed that this strategy led to early struggles for a number of my peers. For those considering any bootcamp, it is advisable to initiate your learning process well ahead of the start date. The bootcamp also faltered significantly when it came to maintaining its promised student-to-instructor ratio. They assured a maximum of 12-14 students per cohort, intending to facilitate effective learning and thorough practice of technical interview problems. However, when my cohort began, we were a staggering 28. This blatant misrepresentation was especially aggravating because it was one of the main factors that had swayed my decision towards this bootcamp.


This bootcamp's curricular style veers more towards independent learning, with instructors merely grazing the surface of topics and urging self-study. Homework, while time-consuming, does facilitate the application of the day's concepts. Consequently, the return on investment regarding your education here directly correlates to your effort.

The real shortcoming of the bootcamp lies in the Alumni group. We met an energetic, frank, and knowledgeable woman about six weeks into the course. She was supposed to guide us post-graduation, and we were eager to work with her. Unfortunately, the bootcamp let her and her entire team go, replacing them with less impressive substitutes. The new Alumni lead has a habit of scheduling meetings at the last moment, causing inconvenience, and her team seems ill-equipped for their roles according to their LinkedIn profiles. Additionally, the high staff turnover further strained our experience. Some of the new staff members quit within a week of their appointment, causing considerable disruption. Graduates were left trying to adapt to different people's styles, adding unnecessary pressure in an already stressful transition period.


The bootcamp's 9-month job guarantee is a significant selling point. However, the guarantee comes with stringent requirements that almost seem deliberately designed to frustrate the job search. For instance, the need to apply to 10 jobs per day or 50 per week, coupled with advice to reach out to every recruiter, borders on the impractical without resorting to mass applications on platforms like LinkedIn, thereby diluting the value of the exercise.

In our cohort's Discord, I shared a snippet of a conversation I had with the Alumni's self-proclaimed "Rising Product Manager". This exchange illuminated the hollowness of their support. They congratulated me on my employment while insisting I document it through the same appointment system they had previously ignored. It seemed more an attempt to claim undeserved credit than genuine support. My new job had little to do with their efforts, aside from some understanding I gained about the technical interview process.

Consequently, while the bootcamp did provide a valuable foundation for self-learning, these discrepancies in its promised and actual services significantly tainted my overall experience. The unreliable aftercare support and the misleading student-to-instructor ratio, coupled with the high staff turnover, severely undermines the bootcamp's credibility. It's an area they urgently need to address for future cohorts.

In essence, this bootcamp's value lies in the self-study it pushes you towards. However, its aftercare support needs significant improvement, especially if they wish to continue advertising a 9-month job guarantee.

Coding temple was a great experience learning full stack development. The learning environment was fast paced and thanks to my instructors, Christian and Dylan, I was able to succeed. Not only were Christian and Dylan able to communicate and explain the coursework at a high level but they also always made sure what they were communicating was understood by everyone. They could always tell when I needed to be pushed to go out and find a solution for myself or when I truly needed their extra help with understanding a topic. That has and will continue to make me a better developer. The coursework as a whole was well thought out. I never felt like I was incapable of what was being taught to us that day.
