They offered no job connections, even for those of us that graduated at the top of the class. The instructors were all previous dojo graduates with 0 real work experience. It's a dense program that takes a lot of time and effort to be committed.
I feel I have learned a lot, but I also feel the program length is not sufficient to gain enough confidence to start a career.
There was a good amount of support when it came to having questions addressed. Also, there was an expectation for us to do much independent research. Read less

I chose Coding Dojo, because the price was right. Quite a few other camps I looked into were very expensive. Coding dojo had many options on curriculum as well. The learning platform was very great and intuitive. It did have access issues at times, but it never lasted too long and there was always someone there to help. The community and instructors were great, very genuine and nice, and most of all patient. I am glad I went, and will continue to study from this platform. I do wish I would have been able to do the on campus and be fully immersed in the camp but due to the pandemic, it was not an option. As for the job portion, I felt that I could have been better. But honestly the way that it's setup is, you only get what you put in. And nothing much can be done in the short 4 months. You are already drinking from a firehose. The job search is a process, and you really have to build on your skills and become stronger as a developer. The career services are also very helpful and very knowledgeable. Just dont go in expecting a job right out of the camp. With all that said I would highly recommend anyone go here. I've read many of the reviews prior to myself enrolling and it was daunting thought for sure. But here I am writing a review! So just give it a shot and invest in yourself. Read less

i just graduated from coding dojo 1 week ago . 
i learned so much in these 3 months and i cannot believe that i actually finished it. 
this is a fantasy journey and i had wonderful time during these 3 months with all my classmate, instructors and TA. 
a huge shout up to their instructors, i met these awesome people and they have provided very clear and detail lectures to me . 
imagine a zero coding background people like me, now i know how to build projects. 
i've gone through Web fundamental (HTML, CSS, Basic JS), Python, MERN, and Java. 
thats a lot to learn and better have the right expectation that you will need to spend at least 8-16 hours a day in order to go through everything .   Read less

I recently finished Coding Dojo and really enjoyed the entire experience.  The program revolves around going through and completing 3 full stacks in addition to web fundamentals and daily algorithms.  The reason I picked Coding Dojo of all the various local and remote learning bootcamps is the focus on Algorithms and problem solving  while getting a chance to work with multiple backend technologies in addition to the normal front end work.  Coming from a background in tech--outside of development I could see how important it was during the interview process to have sound problem solving skills.    The bootcamp was super intense--the recommended time commitment is above 70hrs a week and I would say if you don't plan on devoting that to the bootcamp you will not get that great of return--you'll struggle as things move very quickly.    The teachers are really supportive and even though the work load is high, if you are struggling in an area or a concept you'll get plenty of 1:1 help from the teachers and the multiple TA's that offer their support.  I'd definitely recommend Coding Dojo if you're looking to take that next step into development. This was my third programming bootcamp but first full-time virtual learning experience. With previous experience learning HTML, CSS, Javascript and SQL, I was humbled by their unique approach to each stack. The online platform was informative, concise and methodical. The assignments reiterated over lecture material while allowing creative freedom. The belt exams were challenging and engaging. Their Virtual Workplace made it easy to connect, ask questions and learn from the national community which was super cool and not possible at previous in-person bootcamps. I was a little skeptical at first but I learned, this was the type of environment for me. 

Some of the resources they offered that set me up for success were video recordings of every lecture in each stack, demos for challenging assignments when we requested, unintimidating support system of teachers and TA's, just enough guidance to figure out what questions I needed to ask and the opportunity to succeed to live a life serving a greater purpose.

 Lots of free time that you need to manage yourself, but instructors are always available to help and teach in ways that make the material fun. Recommend giving yourself more time in the day than you might expect as homework can sometimes be a bit hard to grasp on first look.  Read less

I graduated from the online part-time program just last week! I got to learn the Python/ Django stack which only in 4 months I feel so competent at it. Though, of course there are always new things to learn and always room for improvement. I think that without the bootcamp I would not be able to learn all these things in such speed. I highly recommend it, though you need to know that it is quite intensive and it will require a lot of effort from the student (as it is always in any kind of learning environment). The curriculum is very well structured and in the online program I could follow the lectures at my own time, which I consider a very positive point. Read less

I just graduated online bootcamp at Coding Dojo. It is very intense and challenging program. I started with zero knowledge in programming and in 16 weeks I can build a website as a full stack developer. I’m very impressed with this program. Coding Dojo truly takes you from knowing nothing to being able to build a web application utilizing both front and back end languages. They teach you crucial aspects like OOP and database usage WITHOUT giving you all of the answers. This was frustrating for some students but I think this helped us become better developers. It forced students to utilize research and outside sources to figure out problems. This is truly what it is like in the industry, therefore it makes you a better dev. 

That being said, there were some hiccups as they transitioned to fully online (started at the beginning of Covid-19) but they did give additional resources and retakes to courses to accommodate the issues. I would have preferred 2 languages (more in depth) than grazing over the 3. (Feels like grazing but you do gain ALOT of knowledge) But either way, I do feel confident in multiple languages.  Read less

I really feel like coding went from a bunch of crap letters and symbols to a breeze. I feel like I can learn anything when it comes to coding now. The instructors and staff are very caring. They work long after hours to help you. Your cohort mates are generally very friendly and ready to help too. It really teaches you how to learn how to code not just to learn how to code if that makes sense. Read less

I had my eye on the Coding Dojo for several years before making the leap to enter the program. It is a huge commitment to dedicate 14 solid weeks of your time and resources to learning 3 full stacks. But if you've ever seen Coding Dojo testimonial videos pop up on your YouTube feed from alumni talking about how awesome the program is, then you've seen and heard the truth! Without question, entering this program was the best decision I have ever made for my career. The Coding Dojo creates an intensive, immersive learning environment with an unparalleled curriculum and pedagogy. In my opinion, there is no better way to learn. The platform is built to stretch you but not crush you, and the classroom (even virtually) is interactive with ready access to your instructors. There are plenty of bootcamps, videos, and learning modules available out there, but if you're truly serious about making a career change, I highly recommend the Coding Dojo. I attended from April 2020 to August 2020 and had a good experience! The instructors are very knowledgeable and are very willing to help you whenever you need. They make things fun! It's very fast paced and a lot of hard work but it's worth it. You definitely get what you put into it, so if you don't show up or do all the readings and assignments you may not do as well as you'd like. Only complaint was having a guidance counselor for getting into the process claim to be there for me, but blocked me and ghosted me the second I got my loan figured out. As a recent graduate of the Coding Dojo i highly recommend it for anyone interested in learning the basics of web development or wanting to switch career paths into the tech field of computer programming. They teach 3 full stacks which will vary depending on your local and what languages companies are using in your area. I did the 14 week online course due to the imprecations of the current pandemic, while it seemed daunting at first i settled into a nice routine after the first couple of weeks. The teachers and teacher assistant's are readily available to help you at times where you feel stuck. Overall I enjoyed my experience greatly and will be further pursing more knowledge of the subject matter and hopefully a career in the field. Read less

As a recent grad of CodingDojo, this was a great tool to get me up and running with full-stack development within 3 1/2 months. Coming into the program with little experience, the course takes on a generalist approach to three full-stacks. I took Python, MERN, and Java, and each stack gets you up and running building a web app from end-to-end as fast as possible, and from there on, the sky is the limit for what you can do with fundamental groundwork they give you. I was able to leave the program with 3 full portfolio projects that, with the aid of the curriculum and guidance from the instructors, I was able to build far past what I thought would be possible for myself in with only a month of work per-stack.

Coming out of this, I feel well prepared not only for a job in the industry, but also to continue to refine my own skills based on the groundwork already established. Read less

I took the online part-time Python full-stack course at Coding Dojo, and just graduated last week. 
I had a great learning experience through their portal and with the help of the instructors. I originally took the course to learn python for scripting in audio/visual control applications for customization. I looked around at other boot camps and settled on Coding Dojo because of their pricing, and their live teaching; many of the other camps simply gave you access to their learning portal. I had some experience with code academy, so the first few weeks of html and css were more or less review and expanding on what I knew. Michael Taylor was an amazing asset through and bumps or misunderstandings I had throughout this part of the course. Once we hit python, I had some trouble switching gears so quickly, but again, Michael was available to help where the lines weren't connecting. We then spent a month on Python and Django, getting exposure to the back-end programming. This is where things started to click more for me. All the free online courses I'd taken were solidified in my mind during this month 
I really liked the one on one meetings, where I could compile a list of things to discuss, and then go through my list with the instructor. Their Mattermost channel also had TAs available much of the time, if I ran into anything in the moment. Drew and Matthew were great at pushing me to understand the issue instead of just giving me the answer.
When we got to the last month, focusing on Projects and Algorithms, we switched instructors to Matthew, who was also very helpful. The change of mind going from one language to another was the hardest part. 
We did a solo webpage project and a group one in the span of 5 weeks, which made me learn a lot of new techniques, including Bootstrap and Bulma. I think the most valuable thing I learned through this whole thing, is how to learn in this field. Much of the content can be learned from the programming languages documentation, and this camp allowed me to be in a position to understand how to do that, and what the gears of a website look like and do. 
Even though I tried to get at least 20 hours a week in of studying and practicing, I got closer to 15 most weeks, which was enough to get me to pass, but now I'm going to go over all the optional material and reinforce everything I've learned. They give you access to the portal for another 6 months after graduating.
The only cons were that, I came across a couple areas in the curriculum that weren't super up to date, but I know they were updating things while my camp was going on, so hopefully that's fixed. I also wish you had access to the platform for longer after graduation, since the price for the course is pretty high, but I'll get as much as I can out of these remaining months that I have access. 
I feel like you definitely need to be a proactive learner to get the most out of this program. Having the Coding Dojo team there to guide and answer questions along the way were extremely helpful.  Read less

This was a fairly intense 4-month online course that combines teacher instruction along with self-teaching. The program is well put together and the more you put into it the more you get out of it. Not being on campus, you are expected to figure some things out on your own but they have a good system for reaching out to instructors, TA's, and other students for help. The instructors are great and make sure you know they are there to help with as many 1 on 1 meetings that you need to get you through. They follow up with a great Career Services department that is very proactive in preparing you to look for a job. I would definitely recommend Coding Dojo to anyone interested in getting into programming.   Read less

Great experience and awesome curriculum and material for start learning to programming. Before starting with Coding Dojo I had a bear knowledge of front-end and backend programming languages. Although I have worked on tech companies before, I didn't know how to build a web page from scratch.  After this experience, now I got tools to work as a freelance developer knowing where to start with the overwhelming documentation that is on Internet about many programming technologies. Additionally the support and orientation of instructors have been really valuable for my learning process. For sure I recommend this Academy to anyone who one to pursue a career change. Read less
