Avocademy

I had no previous experience in UX/UI Design. The course was awesome and I learned so much. All of my interactions with my teams and the staff were amazing, and there was lots of support throughout the course completion and client project completion. I'm so glad that this bootcamp allowed me to get some real client project experience. It just sucks because I paid 6,000 dollars total for the Foundations course and Career Jumpstart, just for one first interview to come out of it, aside from the education and UX/UI experience I gained. They told me that with the current job market, I would be applying to around 800-1200 jobs, and after 1,300 jobs I just had that one interview and they cut me off of their Slack Channels, which meant I would lose access to mentorship and the ability to do more client projects. Again I only have the experience they gave me, around 2 years of experience, and I know that was part of why it took so many applications to get that one interview, but I can't get any more experience through Avocademy since they cut me off. The time they gave me had passed, but I really wish they would hold on to me just a little longer after paying so much money. This is a job that I really really really want and I would love an experience where Avocademy actually helps me from start to finish. From preparing to apply to jobs to getting the job. At least they gave me the reading and resources for applying to jobs and the education they gave me in the Avocademy modules, but even I lost the 1,300 tracked jobs on Huntr and I can't get mentorship or more experience. Again, I'm grateful for the UX/UI Design experience and education that I gained, but I simply cannot say that it was worth it.  Read less

Not only does Avocademy do a wonderful job in their foundations course to prepare your skills for real world design projects, but the access and support for mentors is one of the most valuable resources I've ever had. They have a variety of mentors available for all areas of your foundational and career development needs. From general reinforcement and positivity, to real world experience, to career guidance in your job hunt, they will guide you for any decisions you have to make. I would not be where I'm at in my professional development without them and this has been undoubtedly one of the best decisions I've ever made! Read less

I graduated with an Associates Degree in Radiologic Technology in 2017. I loved being a CT Technologist but COVID rocked my world and certain perspectives changed and I no longer had the drive I once had. I searched long and hard for the right BootCamp because I'm sure you've seen a million that guarantee this and that but are super expensive. It's a daunting experience trying to find the right BootCamp that isn't just in it for the money. What drew me to Avocademy was that it was the most affordable BootCamp I had seen. I watched videos and read reviews and I immediately scheduled an information call. After the call, I felt like they genuinely cared for my success. It sounds silly but I was taking a chance by taking a big leap into a career that is completely different from the career I was already established in. I needed to know that if I jumped down this long road, I was going to be in good hands. If you're wondering if this is the bootcamp for you then I would absolutely refer anybody to this bootcamp.

The program is broken up into two sections: Foundations and Career Jumpstart (CJ). Foundations is teaching you everything you need to know about UX/UI Design. They reinforce all the learned material while building your own project that you put in your portfolio. Career Jumpstart is taking everything you learned in Foundations and then applying it to real projects with real clients. You're grouped up with other designers from Avocademy and complete deliverables and by the end of it you can add it to your portfolio. While you're in projects you eventually start applying for jobs. My fiance was unfortunately laid off from his job so this was the most challenging part for me. Applying for jobs, working on multiple projects, working full-time hours (and overtime), and moving to the other side of the country was extremely hard- but not impossible.

While I will refer this bootcamp to anyone I will say you will absolutely be putting in the work. Switching careers is never easy but if you put in your hard work into this there will be a big payout. I wouldn't refer anybody to any bootcamp if you only want to do half the work or plan to be lazy. It's unfair to the other designers who are on projects with you. 

While not one bootcamp is perfect it seems like Avocademy listens to feedback and is always implementing feedback and introducing new content to help for a better user experience. At the end of it, I will say the support you get from the mentors and staff at Avocademy is worth the tuition alone. I came out with a resume, portfolio, new friendships, and a new job. They help you build a resume that is very much geared towards UX, they were able to spin my 7 years of healthcare experience to help contribute to my UX experience. In terms of the portfolio, you go through many checks while building it. I've spoken to multiple recruiters and have told me they loved how clean and organized my portfolio was. You'll also get to network with other designers at Avocademy who are also in the same boat as you and I have built some really meaningful connections and you never know when a connection can be helpful in the future.

If you're on the fence I would say choose Avocademy. I was in the same spot reading reviews on Course Report in Oct 2022 and now here I am about to start my job as a UX Designer in 2 weeks! Read less

I enrolled in Avocademy’s UX/UI Foundation course in May 2023 to learn the foundations to become a UX/UI Designer and they gave me that plus more. Everything was clearly organized and laid out for me. I knew what I needed to do, when I needed to complete work by, how long it would take and most importantly how easily and quickly I could receive support from mentors who do the job I wish to have. Without any background in design or UX/UI I was able create work I am proud of and expand on it now that I’ve graduated from that part and moved on to Career Jumpstart. I’m being challenged to improve and supported along the away. It’s only been a month so far in this new program and I’ve watched one of my peers land an amazing job with Pepsi. I am not yet at the stage where I begin my job search with my mentors support & assistance but I know that Avocademy is providing me with all the tools necessary to make this my career and be successful. I loved the Avocademy UX/UI Foundations course. You really are learning so much in a condensed amount of time so you need to be someone who can manage your time well and enjoys independent learning, I took a bit longer to finish the course because of my lack of good time management skills but they were so helpful to pushing me through to completing my project. With that said, the course material is thorough and consistently updated. The mentors are readily available to give you feedback on your work and it's given in a constructive & positive way. I personally learned so much from the course and there was no question in my mind that I wanted to pursue their Career Jumpstart course after graduating from Foundations. I'm currently in CJ right now and Avocademy has created such an incredible program, they really pay attention to the needs of their students and make great content to continually help their students grow and progress. Changing careers can be very scary especially when someone like me has been a stay home mother for the last five years. Choosing Avocademy was the best decision I could have made for my future. You enter scared but you leave very excited to explore more about UX design. By far one of the best steps I have taken for my growth as a person. Just take your time and do not rush in and out of it. I had the pleasure to get my UX/UI Design certification through the Avocademy program. My experience was great , I love the details in the content they provide us to ensure we understand how to move forward with any activity. The mentors go above and beyond to make sure you are on track and are able to explore to new methods. Avocademy Foundations course has changed my life! As a veteran teacher, I was hesitant to pursue something so outside and beyond my comfort zone. But I took the plunge, and I did it! It took me about three months to finish the foundations course, and I'm currently a member of the Career Jumpstart program where I'm learning advanced skills and getting to work on actual client jobs. I want to kick things off by saying that I had a blast during this course, and the staff was top-notch... at least, until graduation came around. The CJ course rolls out this job guarantee program, promising that if you tick all the job requirements and still don't land a job by your graduation date, you're off the hook for the course fees. Unfortunately, this is where things took a nosedive.
I went through the entire course, checked off all the job prerequisites, but guess what? No job offers came my way, and now the gang is telling me I don't meet the criteria, and I'll have to cough up the $5k upfront. Who has that kind of cash lying around? Seriously, nobody I know.
Here's the kicker: I know, without a shadow of a doubt, that I followed every single rule to a tee. I even provided proof, but they're still insisting I'm not eligible. This is a big problem for me, and honestly, it feels like Avocademy is breaking their end of the bargain. It's looking like I might have to take some legal action here.

Sadly, if I'd known they'd basically pull a fast one on me, I would've never signed up for this course. To anyone out there thinking about giving it a shot, my advice is to think twice. Seriously, reconsider, because they'll gladly take your money and leave you feeling swindled. Read less

I recently completed the Career Jumpstart program (I received a great job offer), and I can confidently say it was an amazing experience from start to finish. What truly set this bootcamp apart was the exceptional mentorship!

Throughout the client projects, I had the privilege of working closely with dedicated mentors who guided us every step of the way. 

The highlight of the program, without a doubt, was the unlimited mock interviews with the mentors. These sessions were an incredible opportunity to fine-tune our skills and gain the confidence needed to excel in real-world interviews. The mentors' commitment to our success was evident in their patience and willingness to address every question and concern. They really care about everyone in the program. 

The mentors were always available for one-on-one support, whether it was refining our portfolios or polishing our resumes.

I recently completed Avocademy's "Foundations" course, and it was such a transformative experience that I couldn't resist signing up for their "Career Jumpstart" program. Also, if your goal is to secure a job in UX/UI I recommend you do Career Jumpstart as well, as this is where the fundamental transformation happens. Avocademy truly exceeded my expectations.

The "Foundations" course was an incredible starting point. It provided a solid understanding of UX/UI design principles and set the stage for my journey. The instructional videos and resources were instrumental. The mentors at Avocademy played a pivotal role in my learning experience. They serve as instructors and mentors who answer questions and provide valuable feedback until you master it. 

One of the highlights was working on my foundation product (a conceptual app) from start to finish. This hands-on experience allowed me to apply what I had learned and see the direct impact of my skills. It was gratifying, and I'm currently in my second week of a client project as part of the "Career Jumpstart" program. This practical exposure has been invaluable in preparing me for a UX/UI design career.

The affordability sets Avocademy apart, especially with all you get. There's also the seamless transition into the "Career Jumpstart" program. This continuation course has been a game-changer for me. It perfectly complemented the foundational knowledge I gained and is taking my skills to the next level.

Moreover, the program helped me realize how transferable my skills were. Avocademy equips you with technical skills and teaches you how to adapt and apply them to various design processes. This versatility has been invaluable.

It's also worth mentioning that the resources and genuine connections I see within the Slack Channels from other students, graduates, and mentors are absolutely heartwarming. They are always there to help or uplift you, lol whichever you may need at that moment.

Overall, Avocademy has been one of the main reasons for my success in my transformation into a UX/UI designer. I say "ONE OF" because many people who see their viral TikTok videos or Instagram reels think they'll magically make you a designer. They give you ALL the resources to do so, but YOU have to make the decision to show up, take feedback, FAIL, do the work, and keep learning. I'll say the most important thing first – I got a job!! With that being said, Avocademy has been the best decision I have ever made in my educational and professional journey. I have a creative background in fashion design, but once I completed school and began working in that industry, I knew that it was not for me. I found out about this program on TikTok, and after researching other bootcamps, I chose this one. I completed both the foundations and career jumpstart programs. Career Jumpstart gave me the opportunity to work on real-world projects with real clients and design teams. Along with the projects, the actual mentorship and course-related modules are unmatched. The Avocademy team works very hard to stay up-to-date with the latest job market trends, and they are constantly using data to provide us with the best ways to land a job. I had no background in UX/UI design until I started this program, and I followed the course exactly – it worked for me. This is my first time taking a boot camp course online, and I'm so happy I decided to take Avocademy's foundations course.  Upon much research, I realized Avocademy is the most affordable option. However, my favorite thing about the Foundations Bootcamp is that there are so many mentors there to support you and give you great feedback to become a better designer. Not only did I have lots of support from the mentors, but I've had so many people in the program reach out to me to network, and connect with me. Knowing there are many people on the same boat as you sharing their knowledge, and advice helped me push through this course.  It was loaded with so much content, but the Foundations course taught me so many necessary information for people that are entering the UX/UI journey from the beginner stages. My #1 worry was if I was going to be able to keep up with the course content, and timeline because I am a mother of a toddler with a busy daily schedule. However, our awesome creator of Avocademy (MACA) even provides us with a timeline generated for us with our program start date and the deadlines for each activity. I recently completed an exceptional bootcamp that truly exceeded my expectations. The program provided me with unlimited mentorship, top-notch (and fun!) online classes, and the flexibility to pursue it part-time after work or on weekends. The highlight of the bootcamp was undoubtedly the unlimited mentorship. Although I didn't fully make use of this, knowing that expert guidance was ready for me whenever I needed it, boosted my confidence throughout the program. The mentors were knowledgeable, approachable, and provided valuable insights whenever I needed their assistance.
The online content was of great quality. The curriculum was very well-structured, covering both fundamental concepts and cutting-edge industry trends.
