(2) Front End Developer Track (Break Into Tech + Get Hired Program)

Before getting into tech, I worked in the quick service industry and had worked my way up into upper management. I was proud of that, but I was also exhausted. My life revolved around work, and I barely had time for myself. I knew I wanted more: more balance, more freedom, and the ability to actually enjoy my life outside of my job.One of my biggest fears was whether I was even capable of making such a big change. I didn’t have a degree, and fast food management was all I had ever known. I also had concerns about entering a male-dominated field and whether I would be taken seriously, along with worries about whether I was “too late” to start over.One of the things I appreciated most about Skillcrush is that it didn’t just focus on coding, it also talked about those fears directly. Things like imposter syndrome, career changes, and feeling out of place in tech were openly discussed, which made me feel a lot less alone. The webinars and resources helped me stay grounded when I started to doubt myself.I started the program in Summer 2022 and finished it in about 100 days by staying consistent and working on it a little every day. I was really motivated to change my situation, and that helped me stay disciplined.The job search wasn’t easy, if I’m being honest. I applied to over 200 jobs during the holiday season and only had two interviews. I got one rejection and one offer a 4-month contract role. I was making a lot less than I had been before, which was a little scary, but I knew I needed that first opportunity to get my foot in the door. After my contract ended, I was offered a full-time position with the same organization.Now I work as a Web Associate at a major university. I mostly use HTML and CSS, along with content management systems like Drupal and WordPress. I didn’t know Drupal at all before my interview, but I was able to learn the basics quickly, which gave me the confidence to step into the role.Skillcrush gave me a really solid foundation, but more importantly, it taught me how to learn and how to figure things out on my own. That’s been just as valuable as the technical skills. I do think it’s important to know that it’s a starting point you’ll keep learning as you go, especially if you want to grow in your career.Taking this step ended up changing my life in ways I didn’t expect. I have work life balance now. I have time for myself. I feel proud of what I do. It wasn’t easy, and it definitely took effort and persistence, but for me, it was 100% worth it.

Skillcrush rocks!!  I can’t say enough great things about it!  I chose Skillcrush over another bootcamp because of their teaching style, their free 7 day “try before you buy” mini bootcamp, affordability & their sincere kindness that was evident from the very first video I watched before even having any contact with a person on their team.  The knowledge and resources they provide are OUTSTANDING!  If you’re thinking about signing up with them, go for it!

Skillcrush has given me a new path in life and I feel 18 again! After raising my children, I was lost and they have given me  a new career path and I look forward to each lesson. The lessons are simple enough for a newcomer like me to understand, the quizzes are fun and challenging without being too difficult. They have the best teaching method for an online program that I’ve ever used. 

My experience with SkillCrush since the beginning has been incredible! Their courses are cut into segments that have helped me learn and stick with the information taught. They are incredibly kind, helpful, and supportive! I truly believe that becoming a student for SkillCrush has been one of the best choices I’ve done!

I am late with leaving this review. My life has been quite crazy since I was a student with Skillcrush. I never fail to bring them up in conversation since finding them. This online coding school has changed the course of my life. I found Skillcrush at the height of the pandemic. I was deep in the Healthcare field looking for a way out because I was so burnt out and could not continue. So much so, that I left for a cashier job at a local liquor store until I could land a job in tech. I planned to do an online boot camp until I could get my foot in the tech door.. Wow. So many bootcamps are extremely expensive or you have to pay them back once you find a job which didn't feel comfortable for me. Skillcrush is a godsend. The teachers, the community, the ease of the lessons and the pace. Thank you so much for everything Adda Birnir and team. You changed my life and my son's life (and my cat). Now I am making enough money to take care of both of us and I am not mentally burnt out!!

An amazing bootcamp. I have tried to learn to code before using a combination of sits but nothing really stuck with me and it was hard to keep motivated and it was hard to see any progress. I have only been using Skillcrush for 1 week and I feel like I have months of experience as a coder. The lessons are superb, they walk you through everything in a way that helps you understand. and there is always an instructor just a message away to help you with any issues. honestly words cant do Skillcrush justice !! I only wish I had found this bootcamp sooner. 10 out of 10 for sure.

This course is wonderful! Skillcrush is excellent at making potential students feel welcome. The course is easy to navigate, highly informative, fun, and there are plenty of hands on exercises. The community is also fantastic and diverse. Instructors are easily accessible, knowledgeable, and are always willing to help. I highly recommend this course to any and all that are looking to break into tech!

So far I have been learning a lot when it comes to HTML and CSS. There is a lot to learn and it takes patience as there’s a lot to learn but Skillcrush makes things quite wonderful in terms of teaching you how to build a website. So far I have learned a lot as I’ve done two project websites as of this day in writing this review.

Returning to IT after 12 years, A former Senior Systems and Network engineer, I enrolled in the Break into Tech program and love it!!! The courses are well-designed, challenging, and fun.  They absolutely do apply real-world career skillsets, that Tech companies are seeking.   The support base is second to none and empowerment and tools are always there to keep you motivated, informed and to keep progressing.   Thank you Skillcrush, for helping me with this transition period in my life.   A teriffic school to check out for Coding, Design, and Tech experience.   

So far, Skillcrush has been everything I wanted it to be! The mentors/teachers are wonderfu  and quick to respond to answers. Lessons are presented in easy to follow and understand steps. The student communit  has been warm and welcoming. Jump into the program, it's really great here!

Skillcrush is a very user/student friendly course school. They take their time in teaching and have lots of practical challenges to go with every lesson. There is also a good student = teacher relation, where you can ask any question concerning a lesson and you are rest assured that you will get a quick response. I like the teaching method a lot because it make  the student really gets involved, and it breeds confidence in the student. I will recommend it anyway anywhere!

Skillcrush gave me the structure I needed to finally buckle in and learn how to code. They break things down into measureable steps so that you can feel yourself progressing towards feeling knowledgeable about a myriad of coding subjects. They also set you up to display all of your hard work by the time you complete each subject.

Learning new skills can be challenging, especially skills in an area you know nothing about. The team over at Skillcrush puts students' minds at ease and encourages them to take the first step! Transitioning into tech, for some folks can be an intimidating endeavor. However, at Skillcrush, I've been able to progress through the course work in a strategic and self-paced manner. This was made possible through the support and encouragement that I receive from the Skillcrush staff and community! 

The classes are challenging in more ways than one, as it is not just the new language you learn, but it is also about time management, vision and creativity. When I feel lost in technical terms, Adda's jokes gives learning a funny spin that relaxes you and helps taking the pressure off. The resources are abundant, lots of other websites with further explanations and practice as well as the Slack community that is very supportive. There are one-on-one sessions with a mentor after every class completed and regular webinars about switching careers, getting into tech and tips to apply while job hunting. I opted for the Get Hire track, because, honestly, if I am left to my own devices, I would probably quit job searching from the first rejection I might get. It is reassuring to know that someone has your back throughout that ordeal. This course has taken me out of my comfort zone, but I don't regret it especially when I see the results of my work on the screen. After years of putting myself down, I am actually starting to feel proud of myself. 

I am truly enjoying my time as a student in the front end development Skillcrush course. The mentors are so encouraging, I love the webinars, and the opportunities to engage with the community are wonderful. I can hardly believe what I’m able to do in just a few months time and look forward to growing more in both confidence and ability!

I am part way through my Front-end Web Development training and find it, while thorough and challenging, has safety nets to guide you through so you do not get stuck unable to progress. I recommend this program for anyone serious about beginning a career in tech with no previous experience.

I signed up for Skillcrush to refresh some old skills and learn some new ones. I'm extremely pleased with the teaching methods as well as the instructors and support. There is so much additional content and webinars to keep you motivated and moving forward. I was a skeptic when I first heard about Skillcrush because I felt like the cost of classes seemed low for the number of skills that they teach. The other courses I was looking at before deciding were 5X the price of Skillcrush. Not gonna lie, that was a deciding factor for me but it was also a cause for concern (or so I thought). Turns out I was wrong and it holds up to any other online courses of the same skillsets. I'm glad I decided to go this route. I really connect with the style and pacing of the lessons and feel like anyone willing to push through all of the exercises (bonuses, too) will have a very solid portfolio to get that dream job! I have not gotten to the point in my coursework that I'm looking for a job, but I'm confident that they will go above and beyond to help make that a reality for myself and anyone else that completes the course.

An embellished course name, but the content is empty.  To make the course fun by making all kinds of jokes and montage music in the background.  Combining the facial expressions of the woman with the constant effort of trying to look cute in different ways got on my nerves.  the background music doesn't even give you a chance to focus.  motivational music anyway, playing the guitar. waste of money and time!  They didn't give me my $68! Dont stop by here, go coursera. You can find masters of This job! 

Skillcrush absolutely helped me gain the foundational skills of front-end web technologies at a very introductory level. Often times, these technologies can come across as confusing and/or intimidating. Skillcrush has managed to keep the material simple to understand as far as learning the basic core concepts of front-end web. The lessons & projects are not only a great help, but also made to feel very lively and fun instead of dull and dry! The calls in between lessons to meet and catch up with a mentor is one of the best things about the course in my opinion. Self-paced learning can seem a bit lonely sometimes, but between these calls and the community of students on Slack, that was not the case here!I also was unaware that the course offered a whole section based on building up your resume, LinkedIn profile, and how to go about the job search. These were all VERY helpful and effective! I definitely learned new skills not only within the tech space, but how to go about starting a job search! I believe that without the 'Get Hired' lessons, it would have been much more difficult and taken me longer to land a job.The only thing I will add is that while Skillcrush is an amazing bootcamp, it is also important to go out and build your own projects and watch any additional videos/read articles on concepts you may be having more trouble with. Instead of watching a tutorial on how to build something, try it on your own first. Even if the instructor explains what to do, don't see the answer with the code until you've attempted it on your own first. And don't be afraid to re-do any old projects as well to see if you can do it fully on your own!Skillcrush is GREAT for teaching you the core foundations of web development concepts in a way that is easy to understand for someone coming into it with no knowledge at all. Don't rush through it and make sure you understand what you are doing and it will make your life much easier going forward. :)

If you are a career changer, Skillcrush is the BEST program out there. You will not find a better, more cost-effective bootcamp experience out there. I signed up for two tracks: Frontend Developer and the Get Hired Tracks. It cost exponentially less than every other option out there that provides live support and access to coaching. The Frontend Developer track was very comprehensive and gave me substantive practice with many of the latest technologies. As you work towards completing each topic, Skillcrush provides regular checkpoints throughout the curriculum with a real person who can provide real-time feedback as you progress through each topic, making you feel confident about the code you have written and providing guidance if you are stuck. There are also live Q&A sessions available multiple times a week and a lively Slack channel that essentially provides 24/7 support. The portfolio projects showcase that you know how to build using the latest technologies and have been carefully designed to be great practice and great material for LinkedIn and applications.The Get Hired track provided amazing guidance, particularly as a career changer. The units helped me convert my existing resume and LinkedIn profile to one that looked like I belonged in the software industry. In fact, Skillcrush's advice was so effective that recruiters from major companies reached out to me. In addition to the unit content, you also have access to a weekly coaching session for 12 weeks where you can share your progress (or lack thereof), get advice, and receive support. This was a very worthwhile investment to make in addition to the curriculum to help me locate jobs and be as prepared as possible for the interviewing process.Thanks to Skillcrush, the process from starting the first lesson to the job offer was five months. I not only got a job offer from a major company, but Skillcrush also coached me on how to increase my salary and benefits upward. I cannot more highly recommend Skillcrush and their team. They guided me from start to finish towards a new career that will change life for myself and my family. Check them out - you won't be sorry!
