1. UX Academy Foundations

This course taught me so much about user interface, the psychology of a user, how to create responsive design, typography, and so much more. As a copywriter, I learned many skills applicable to my role. I cannot say enough good things.

I am an independent artist that has been supplementing my income with service industry jobs for about a decade. I was recommended to take the Design Labs Online classes by a friend who found herself in a similar position of wanting to transition careers about a year ago and was able to do so with Designlabs online program. I am very pleased with the experience so far and found the courses to be well paced, informative and well designed in that they make learning new software (a notoriously frustrating experience) manageable by breaking down information and tasks into digestible pieces. 

I chose to enroll in Design Lab to launch a career pivot. I enrolled in the UX Academy Foundations to learn the basics of UI, not fully knowing what to expect with an online course, as I work full time. I’ve absolutely loved it. Staff has been attentive with all questions, both academic wise and administratively. Mentors have been thorough, pushing me to really understand concept fully. The content is robust, and I often find myself excited to read each lesson and engage in the weekly projects. There are a few elements with Figma I wish they went over more thoroughly, as the recent Figma updates sometimes makes instructions harder to follow. But these are rare occurrences and I believe they will be addressed in the future. Overall the course is wonderful and I fully intend to move on to additional classes with Design Lab. 

Designlab was an amazing experience! The hands-on projects and feedback from mentors helped me build real-world skills quickly. Highly recommend for anyone looking to break into UX/UI design!

It was a challenging experience where i learn the basics about the ui/ux design.the best thing about this course is that you will have the guidelines about a mentor which will give you a feedback about your design and also come in hand with solution with the problems that may be appeas in your design but he will not give it to you diretly but he will put you in a sitution to find the solve by yourself.Also you have the feedback and from other students which you can share your the design with them in the discord platform of Design Lab.overall i will suggest this course and to other persons that the want to get in hand the basics of the ui/ux design.

It was flexible, very detailed, and organized. I loved meeting with my mentor because he knew so much and helped me learn at a much quicker pace than I would have on my own. I loved the entire experience! It was definitely a lot of work but I now feel like I have a solid foundation of UX design. 

I became interested in UX Design after feeling a bit stalled in my marketing career. I was looking for an opportunity to both leverage my existing skills in understanding user behavior online and general marketing/design principles and gain a new skill that could help me diversify my career options.I enrolled in Designlab's UX Academy Foundations (as I didn't have prior graphic design or related experience) to see if this was something I was really interested in pursuing while also earning admission into the full program.I loved the breakdown and structure of the course - the combination of deadlines, along with flexibility in actually getting your work done within a given week, provided the perfect balance of urgency and flexibility.I learned a ton, in 8 weeks, I got paired with a mentor who helped provide insights into working in design, how to evaluate my own work and think about critique more insightfully. I built a wireframe for a website, iterated on my design, learned how to design forms and responsive pages and got pretty good at Figma. I'd say even if i wasn't planning on continuing into the academy - its an excellent foundation in UX/UI principles with hands on practice and it's actually quite fun. I would recommend this course to anyone in a similar position.

I enjoyed my time in the Foundations course and felt it was a great intro into UI design.  The course is well organized and I enjoyed working in the Designlab platform which allows you to easily track and organize your progress in the course.  The content builds on itself nicely and I felt the progression through the units to be challenging but worthwhile.  

I enjoyed the curriculum! Designlab covered many topics and takes you through a design project. The course gives you time estimates and clear expectations of what it takes to get approved or require iterations. By working with one experienced mentor, your feedback doesn't conflict. After taking a foundations course with a different online school, I much preferred the course offered by Designlab. Many resources are offered as well as information about AI. 

I signed up for the UX Academy Foundations course with the plan to pursue the UX Academy afterward. Foundations gave me the perfect quick look into what is to come for the main Academy and what the teaching style of DesignLab is. They are very up-to-date with the content that they teach - I was surprised to be learning about generative AI with UX/UI, but there were even exercises putting it into play with the projects!

The learning environment at DesignLab is supportive and collaborative. The Academy’s structure fosters a sense of community among students, and the resources available are top-notch. The platform encourages interaction with peers and mentors, which enriches the learning experience and provides additional perspectives on design challenges.

Completing the UX Foundations Course thoroughly prepared me for the more advanced concepts and projects I encountered in UX Academy. It gave me the skills necessary to move on to UX Academy with confidence. The course served as an excellent entry point into the world of UX design, and the strong foundation it provided ensured I was ready to tackle the challenges of creating a unique and impressive portfolio during UX Academy.Designlab's UX Foundations Course has equipped me with the skills and confidence to excel in the field of UX design. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to start their career in UX. The combination of a well-structured curriculum, hands-on projects, and exceptional mentorship makes this course a standout choice.

From the start, I immediately knew I was going to enjoy the course! I appreciated how the lessons had us look at the history of design, given that we needed to have that understanding of related principles; I found myself coming back to review them while I was working on my unit projects. Everything was built via scaffolding, and I felt that my skills consequently were being reviewed and tested within every new unit. And, when I did have some questions and/or issues about how to proceed, the mentor that Designlab paired me with was there for me! Honestly, the feedback given to me by him was incredibly helpful and it's things like these that really enhanced my overall experience. The caveat is that sometimes, your mentors might not be as responsive as you would like, so it can be hit or miss, but there's no questioning the fact that having one is something that should be the default. Finally, I loved how both the practice tasks and unit projects got me engaged to the point that hours flew by without me noticing! I didn't think I'd be this happy and excited to work on something like what Designlab has to offer, but I'm oh so happy that I found them!

As a beginner transitioning into design, I thought this course was well laid out and taught me a lot about design. The mentor I had was also great with giving feedback and contributed to a lot of improvements in my design. I would definitely recommend this course for those with no experience! I would just say that it does help a lot to do your own practice and learn outside of the course for the extra practice.

With no design experience but curious about UI/UX, this foundation course was incredibility fun with the project they have you create. The project had me totally hooked that my inner perfectionist was in paradise! I was assigned an awesome mentor backing me up and giving me feedback asking the way that it felt like one big creative party. Highly recommend Design Lab's foundation course if you are wanted to jump into the world of design.

This was a great course to learn the basics of UI/UX while gaining familiarity with using Figma. Lessons were short and digestible and every unit had a project in which we applied the new skills we learned. It was very helpful to be paired with a design mentor who offered invaluable advice and feedback on my work. 

A friend suggested that it will be something up my alley. Took the leap and joined the foundations. Initially the content was new, when nearing the end along with the mentor support, it was a wonderful experience. The time management suggested for each module was a good guide for me when I was working on the projects for each week.

Fun and Creative:DesignLab's UX/UI Foundations course wasn't just informative, it was genuinely fun! The projects were engaging and allowed for a lot of creative exploration. I felt like I could experiment and creatively find my design voice and accomplish the Design Briefs.Challenging and Educational:The course provided a perfect balance between challenge and learning. The content pushed me to think critically about user experience and user interface, but it also provided all the tools and support I needed to succeed. I came away feeling confident in my newfound UX/UI skills.Satisfying:Completing the DesignLab UX/UI Foundations course was incredibly satisfying. It wasn't just about acquiring skills; it was about seeing my design ideas and how to bring them to life. It ignited a real passion for UX/UI in me.The Mentorship was my favorite part of the program! My mentor cared about my personal life, future career, and growing me as a designer. The UI/UX fundamentals course is very complete, it is divided into easy topics to understand and the concepts are given in an orderly manner, it is easy to understand, it has a lot of useful additional information and the help of a mentor who provides a lot of guiding knowledge during the process and support. Meetings with the mentor are very helpful.

I completed Designlab's UX Design program, specifically the UX Academy Foundations course, through their online platform. My experience with the program was highly enjoyable; I found the material to be both accessible and captivating. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone aspiring to become a UX Designer. However, one aspect I believe could be improved is the inclusion of more student/group activities. While the autonomy of the coursework is valuable, I believe additional group sessions akin to classroom settings could enhance the learning experience further.
