I did the UX Foundations course as a prerequisite for the UX Academy. My goal was really to get up to scratch with Figma, while learning some fundamentals on UI design. The UX Academy Foundations really delivered on this, and I would highly recommend it for anyone looking to do the same. They also offer live mentoring sessions to get feedback from a real person, while working on the case study, which I’ve found to be valuable.

I loved the Foundations course at Designlab. It is a very unique bootcamp because it is on 2 parts. First is the Foundations then the UX Academy. Why I love this is because you can get indepth experience to see if you enjoy the work before investing all the tuition at once. The mentorship is awesome and the curriculum is very thorough. I am continuing on to their UX Academy and will review that as well when I finish in May. Go Designlab!

During my UX design review, I had the invaluable opportunity to learn under the guidance of an experienced mentor who helped shape both my professional skills and personal growth. This mentorship was more than a technical training; it became a meaningful journey of self-discovery and insight into the art of user experience design.Through constructive feedback, my mentor challenged me to think critically about the designs I created and the user-centric problems they aimed to solve. I learned how to analyze user needs, balance functionality with aesthetics, and approach design iteratively, always keeping the user at the core of the process. My mentor emphasized the importance of storytelling within UX design, teaching me to communicate my ideas effectively and articulate the “why” behind every decision.More importantly, this experience offered profound lessons about myself. I discovered my ability to adapt to new tools and processes, build resilience through constructive critique, and approach challenges with a problem-solving mindset. It was a reminder that creativity and logic can harmonize to create impactful designs, and that the learning process itself is as rewarding as the final product. This training not only expanded my technical skillset but also deepened my understanding of how UX design influences and connects with people. It has left me with a renewed sense of purpose and a clearer vision of how I can contribute to meaningful design work in the future. For this, I am deeply grateful for the mentorship and growth this journey has provided.

Pros:One of the best aspects of the program is that you can take your time to complete the assignments without feeling rushed. The classes provide useful tips to find inspiring websites that can be a great help. They also teach very practical skills.Cons:All the classes are reading-based. It would be great to have audio or video options, as it can get boring after a while. Additionally, I would have appreciated some guidance on how to find a job or career opportunities, but this is not something they offer.

I had a great learning experience with Designlab learning the foundations of UX/UI Design. All of the courses were informative, engaging and well spaced out so I never felt overwhelmed trying to complete my assignments and projects on time.

As I already have experience in the UX/UI field, it’s a bit difficult to view things from a beginner’s perspective.Cons:• You might need extra time to learn beyond the classes, such as reading additional articles.
• Balancing this with a full-time job can be challenging.
Pros: • Hierarchical structure in classes, making the learning process organized.
• Having a mentor to guide you.
• Dedicated time (around 1 hour) for sessions, allowing you to freely ask questions.

Designlab was awesome, mentors allowed you to work and provided excellent feedback. Work was self paced and was very well structured.i appreciate the way designlab designed their classes where we can work on our own pace.the unfortunate side is there is no instructor led courses.

This course fulfilled my expectations and gave me a great intro into the field of UX/UI. It teaches you the basics of Figma through a 7 unit course and each unit builds off of the previous unit. The material never felt like it was too much to handle and they give you ample time to finish the course (8 weeks). They also provide you a 1 on 1 mentor that you meet with online to review each units work (around once a week or whenever you complete a unit). The mentor they assign you is highly qualified and in the design field, so they are very helpful. Overall, very good experience and makes me want to continue on with learning about the design industry.

Having the option to book up to 8 1-hr mentor sessions with an experienced designer is what sets this foundational course apart. It was really valuable to get feedback from a real designer rather than peers who are also learning the material at the same time as you. My mentor was really flexible and able to book sessions around busy times like election week. You don't work on a unique brief but you gain fundamental skills in UI and learn about what hot AI tools are out there to help your processes become more efficient.

This course was well constructed, touching on the background and history of a lot of concepts within the digital UI and UX sector, as well as proving real life examples. The hands on design projects in Figma were well presented and challenging enough to allow for skill development. Having a designated mentor was very helpful in learning more about the industry and getting feedback and overall direction.

The UX Foundation course at Design Lab has a well-structured curriculum. It guides students through UI design knowledge, starting from the basics and gradually building up. With weekly mentor sessions and assignment reviews, the pace is manageable, and it's possible to complete the course ahead of schedule if you have the capability. My background in communication design made it easier for me to get started. The course helped me systematically review previously learned UI/UX concepts and get familiar with Figma, which I hadn’t used before. I recommend this course for those focused on a UI/UX career path, especially if they haven’t had a chance to study the field systematically before.

I am new to online learning and I truly felt at ease with the way Designlab has set up their courses. Everything was easy to follow and understand. My mentor was great, Courtney. She really pushed me to put forward quality work. Designlab has been great throughout the course as well always answering any questions or concerns we may have. I learned ALOT in only 1 month. I now have the confidence to enter the UX Academy with the skills to succeed. They also offer key differentiators from other online courses. I know one of the biggest concerns when doing an online bootcamp is producing a "cookie cutter" portfolio. When moving on to the UX Academy after completing UXA Foundations, you have multiple choices as how to approach and form our portfolios. I am super excited about that. With the UXA Foundations course, I am pretty proficient with Figma now and really understand the UI process better than I ever did before. They even worked with me on paying for the course. It was incredibly flexible and I just can't thank them enough for all of the support they have given me so far.

I loved my time at Designlab. I thought the course was well paced and offered a great introduction to UX and UI design, especially with supporting theory to further your practical skills. My instructor was super helpful and offered great feedback on all my projects.

As someone with no design experience, this is a great beginners course for UX Design! Learning and navigating Figma definitely had its challenges and frustrations (all the units took me longer than the projected time), but it can get a little easier as you move onto the the later units. Overall, this is a well-organized Foundations course, and I really appreciated the 1:1 mentor sessions. Having access to a mentor was one of the biggest selling points for me when I was researching different online bootcamps. You will get out of the program what you put into it, so I'd recommend signing up for a Designlab info session first, trying Foundations before jumping into UX Academy, and then setting realistic expectations and goals for yourself as you go through the program. Doing a bootcamp with a full-time job isn't easy, so I also appreciated that the admissions team can and will offer extensions, if you need it. This Foundations program certainly gave me the knowledge and confidence I need to keep exploring a new career path in tech.

If you’re interested in switching your career to UI/UX design, Designlab is a great option. The Designlab program offers one-on-one mentorship, and the mentors are experienced in sharing their insights and opinions. Throughout the learning process, I was able to continuously gain experience and improve my design skills.

This course was a comprehensive basics course to get started with figma and Ux/ui design. The course is well paced and gives you a ton of resources to review on your own time. The best part of it all, the mentor feedback. My mentor in particular, Diana Martinez, was outstanding and gave me the support I needed while also helping me learn as an individual.

This course was informative and educational. I learned a lot from the content and my mentor. Since it is introductory, there is not much on career guidance other than what your mentor might tell you. I would say that all of the information provided could be acquired by thorough research, but I found this course to be very helpful in the resources it gave.

I had a really good experience with the Foundations program. Having no experience with design, this was the perfect way to get an overall basic understanding of design and continue into the more specialized UX Academy course. The content was very well planned and beginner friendly. My mentor was involved and helpful throughout the course. The additional optional resources and articles after each lesson provides an added layer of explanation for complete beginners like myself.
