1. UX Academy Foundations

This course is perfect for beginners in the UX/UI field. The classes were well structured, and easy enough to follow even if you are completely new. The support team was great, and answered all of my questions in a timely manner. I also had a great experience with my mentor, the perfect match for what I was looking for!

I really enjoyed this course. Being remote and asynchronous was ideal for my schedule and learning style. As an early millennial, I sometimes feel very tech-savvy, other times not so much — but this setup was a great balance. The mentor sessions were key; they offer space to reflect and get real insights from someone working in the industry. If you’re worried about feeling isolated during the program, don’t — you’ll connect with your mentor during the very first week in a one-hour call.Coming from a background in architecture and filmmaking, and being new to UX/UI, I found the lessons clear, approachable, and super informative. Some might find there’s a lot to read, but I think it’s necessary to truly grasp the core ideas of this new discipline. The tone of the lessons is casual and friendly, not overwhelming, and you can even choose to listen instead of read. Personally, I prefer reading — it helps me retain more.Overall, I thought the course was excellent. So much so, that I’ve decided to continue and enroll in the longer UX Academy course (21–36 weeks).I’d absolutely recommend it to anyone thinking about diving into UX/UI design more seriously.

This was a great experience overall! Loved the mentor and all the colleagues in the discord who helped me willingly. Course material was a perfect pre course to prepare me for the Academy! I would do it all over again it if I could. Would recommend to any and everyone getting into the UX field and learning Figma

This is a foundations course that is well worth the expense. You have a good structure, a great mentor, and feedback that is worth while. Everything is simply laid out for you and resources are easy to find. My favorite aspect of this course is the mentorship. I met with mine every week and in addition to the content, I learned the most from him. Fantastic course and it's given me the boost to enroll in UX academy!

 I recently completed the UX Academy Foundations course in May 2025, and I wanted to take a moment to share my feedback.Overall, I had a fantastic experience. The curriculum was well-structured, comprehensive, and thoughtfully designed, providing a solid introduction to key UX and UI principles. Each module built upon the last in a logical and engaging way, which made learning both efficient and enjoyable.I also want to highlight the outstanding mentorship I received from Laura. She was consistently professional, supportive, and insightful. Her feedback was always constructive and encouraging, and she truly helped me grow as a designer. Working with her was one of the most valuable parts of the course.Thank you for providing such a high-quality learning experience. I have successfully finished UX Foundations program from Designlab and I’m so glad I made this choice. The program is well-structured. The knowledge you'll need to complete all the projects is provided throughout the lessons, and the one-on-one mentor sessions are the most valuable part of the learning process. Not only will a professional mentor guide you through the entire course, but they will also support your individual strengths and weaknesses—encouraging or challenging you to successfully complete the program and your final project. I believe that even if you already have some knowledge in the design field, you will still benefit greatly from this program.Highly recommended!

Overall I had a great experience. I have a background in graphic design so I think that gave me a little advantage when it came to the UI basics but it was a great experience and platform to learn Figma, especially with mentor support. I found some of the lessons really lengthy and confusing in terms of when it came to doing each project, like the connection to a degree, but mentor was able to clarify a lot of things for me that made sense. Watching Figma tutorials outside of the course helped me a lot and I think overall the information provided was mostly clear and relevant. I would soak up all the knowledge and experience of your mentor and not be afraid to ask for what you need support wise as well as just clear communication overall. The DL support team was also really helpful with any questions/concerns I had along the way and were really flexible with me since I was moving internationally during the duration of the course. Overall I think this was a really good intro and excited to start UX academy in a few months.

The UX Academy Foundations course offers a thoughtfully structured introduction to UX and visual design, perfect for beginners or career-switchers. Each unit builds on the last, guiding you from early research and ideation through wireframing and visual design in Figma. The hands-on approach—developing a real project like my Wayfarer concept—makes the learning process feel meaningful and applicable. Weekly mentor sessions were a standout, providing personalized feedback and consistent support; my mentor, was instrumental in helping me stay motivated and creatively focused. I also appreciated that, while the course doesn’t directly teach AI tools, it does acknowledge the evolving role of AI in design and integrates how emerging technologies might complement UX workflows. The curriculum balances flexibility with accountability, making it easier to maintain momentum while managing a busy schedule.

This program offers a solid, well-paced introduction to UI design that's easy to follow and highly informative for beginners. The content is well-structured and easy to digest. I have no cons; just be patient with yourself as you learn something new!

I had an amazing experience with UX Academy Foundations! The instructors were super supportive and really pushed me to improve my skills. Their attention to detail was impressive, and they prepared me perfectly for the next step, the UX Academy bootcamp. Highly recommend!

Great introduction into Figma. Lessons were broken up into very manageable subjects; not too light, not too overreaching. Mentor was flexible with one-on-one topics and very knowledgeable. The design information was a review for me given my background, but fell in line with design instruction which was reassuring.

At the beginning of the UX Academy Foundation course in Designlab, I doubted the course because of the abundance of options on the internet. From that day to now, I highly recommend enrolling in this course for beginners because of the curriculum and supportive 1-1 mentor sessions. 

Great experience for a a newbie learning design skills on FIGMA, good supportive mentor. Moderators from Discord community access helped timely completion of course. 2 month long course was well timed and structured to finish on time. The videos and write up lessons and quizzes were all good overall experience. I know FIGMA and design a little better than when i had started my course and laid a foundation for me main bootcamp.

From start to finish, the course was incredibly well-designed, offering a perfect balance of theory and practical application. The curriculum was easy to follow and covered all the essential areas needed for a solid UX foundation.What truly set this program apart for me, though, was the mentorship. Having a mentor who was knowledgeable and always available for guidance really kept me on track and motivated. They provided valuable feedback, shared industry insights, and helped me refine my skills in real time. The mentorship was definitely a super helpful tool throughout the course.Overall, I highly recommend the DesignLab UX Academy Foundations course to anyone looking to build a strong UX foundation. Really fun course that helped solidify my decision to switch careers to UX/UI design. I'm moving on to UX Academy and looking forward to the growth and challenges for this next step in my career. 

I took this course as a supplement to my digital marketing job, and I learned so much in a short amount of time! The coursework was rigorous, but the layout of the course and the progression where elements built off previous units was very practical. Unlike most, I took this course without the intent of moving on to the full bootcamp, but I still got a lot out of my 1:1 mentor sessions and was pleasantly surprised at the frequent face-to-face time I was able to have with them. The lessons were interesting and easy to digest, the technical tutorials were paced well and put together thoughtfully, and I really enjoyed the practical design projects. 

I wanted to explore a UX career and learn some tools of the trade to do so. I was also interested in learning more about UX design for my current role and also to explore creating a prototype of a business idea I have in my head. The UX Academy Foundations was a great, cost-effective way to do this and I think it was a great learning experience and value for what I received. I absolutely loved the weekly mentor check ins where we went over my questions, tweaked my projects, and did some hands on training. 

As someone transitioning from graphic design to UX design, I already knew a lot of basics of UX design but not a lot of hard skills in practices. This course surprised me in that I truly learned a lot! I knew I was going to enjoy it, but I appreciated how lessons were structured and the use of learning iteration via my mentor and other students! My mentor was invaluable with his experience and knowledge of the field over all.

I'm in the process of transitioning from video production into UX design. It's a daunting process but Designlab has been great so far! I just completed UX Academy Foundations and am enrolling in the full UX Academy in a few weeks. The course work was informative and easy to digest, about 2/3 of the time is spent in the design tool Figma working on your final project which I really enjoyed. Would recommend! 

I was looking into different online programs for UX/UI design and loved the fact that Designlab has been around for many years and they only focus on this design courses and wasn't just a "course factory". I made the right decision because I could tell the thought that went into the details and information I was given in this course and I'm really excited to get started at the UX academy very soon! Another thing that really helped me was the mentor that I had. She was so encouraging and helpful. I'm so grateful to have her expertise and I'm looking forward to learning all I can from my mentor during UX academy!I'm also looking forward to the help of the career services after I've finished with UX academy to assist me with my job search. The foundations course was definitely worth the investment of money and time and I know UX academy will be too!
