Initially, I grappled with piecing together the vast amount of information, questioning how all these concepts would intertwine. However, as project week commenced, it was as though a veil had been lifted. Exceeded my expectations to become a data scientist
I have been quite sceptical how one can learn to become a data scientist in three months instead of doing a whole bachelor's degree. However, neither did I have the time nor was I unexperienced as I have previously been an analyst and have worked with...I have been quite sceptical how one can learn to become a data scientist in three months instead of doing a whole bachelor's degree. However, neither did I have the time nor was I unexperienced as I have previously been an analyst and have worked with python before but lacked experience and am a bad self-learner. So I was looking for a bootcamp that allows me to learn fast, gain hands-on coding experience but to also stay accountable through regular check-ins. The bootcamp at Le Wagon was the right one for me as the mandatory morning lectures and evening live-coding gave me the regular schedule I needed and the coding in-between in groups gave me the flexibility and community I wanted to work together on problems and gain experience.
Content-wise my expectations were definitely exceeded. I expected to learn data scraping, machine & deep learning and got introduced to the whole universe of data science with the opportunity to work and understand the basics in everything and learn further in the future - either by re-doing the course work or starting from there. When I say basics I also mean that we dived really deep into each topic (so making sure you learn the python basics in the pre-week is really important), sometimes a whole university semester in one day. It was a really intense time and loved it for everything we've learned and how enthusiastic and helpful the teaching team was. A Life-Changing Experience
I joined Le Wagon after having been interested in learning to code for a number of years but having no clue where to start. Over the course of 2 months, I went from being able to solve simple math problems in Ruby to designing an entire web...I joined Le Wagon after having been interested in learning to code for a number of years but having no clue where to start. Over the course of 2 months, I went from being able to solve simple math problems in Ruby to designing an entire web application through the encouragement and help of some amazing teachers.
I truly feel that the teachers made my experience worthwhile. They were always encouraging and kind – even when the high-intensity of the boot camp occasionally got to us students. Being able to approach them with any questions, no matter how basic, was also incredibly heartening and I feel that they made the core of the experience worthwhile.
The Le Wagon community is also fantastic. I often went for dinner after class with my classmates, and Le Wagon organized yoga sessions every week to give our mind a break. Some of our TAs were recent alumni as well, so being able to speak with them about their experience post-graduation was wonderful.

Bias with unclear criteria for acceptance for government funded bootcamps
There is a lot of hype, but it is not worth it. I have been following Le Wagons for couple of years. It has mixed results. I had interaction with the tutors and staff. Many graduates of the bootcamp unable to find employment and the bootcamp does not...There is a lot of hype, but it is not worth it. I have been following Le Wagons for couple of years. It has mixed results. I had interaction with the tutors and staff. Many graduates of the bootcamp unable to find employment and the bootcamp does not provide enough support to the students and does not deliver in terms of the curriculum and job readiness.
I was give a technical assessment which I believe I have aced it when I asked for feedback. I was told there is a problem with motivation and commitment. I feel I passed on technical aspects, but the motivation and commitment is subjective. It is hard to judge without bias. It made me sad. In retrospect, I was not accepted from the interview regardless of my results of the technical assessment. The worst thing is when have a high expectations of a bootcamp and it fails in every aspect.
