Freemote

I have always wanted to become a developer but I never really knew where to start. Whenever I would try a Udemy course or YouTube tutorial, I would not get the feedback I desired to know if I'm on track. I would spend days going back and forth thinking, "I can do this, I just have to push forward" then after a few days later feeling defeated and giving up. 

That's when I came across Freemote, a Developer bootcamp designed to get you the skills you need to be a freelance developer. I had followed the founder of this camp on Youtube, Aaron Jack, and saw he actually made a course for us to learn online. I knew with his teaching background, he would be able to guide us and teach us the skills we need to progress. Aaron and Jan have been supportive during this journey and I have learned a lot more than I had on my own. Their style of teaching the content, having us do practice projects, then showing us how it is done has been amazing in getting the nuggets of knowledge stuck in my head.

The Freemote community is nothing but supportive. We share the struggles/experiences we are going through and there is always someone there to lend a hand. We even share resources that aid us all along the way such as icon generators, flexbox tips, box model tips, etc. It's nice to see there are others in the same boat as me coming from polar opposite industries to become a freelance web developer.

A little background on myself, I am doing this course part-time (2-3 hours a day) and I try to throw in a practice coding session in-between lessons so I don't forget the things I've learned. I may be progressing at a slower pace than others but I feel I am miles away from where I first started. Thanks Freemote!

Hello freemote team, my name is Javier and I am from Guatemala City. Thank you for such as awesome program for this career. I'm currently finishing Module 3 to become a Shopify Expert. I'm learning a lot of new things and I feel so happy with the course. There are some topics that may be a little be intimidating because I never saw them before in my life. However, I'm completely focused on succeed and I have the confidence that the community is always there to offer support, plus that I'm aware that we are issue solvers. I will keep going because I'm 100% sure this will thrive in the best possible way. You are the best Freemote Community. 

I am currently on my 3rd week with Freemote. And I truly believe this program is for anyone who wants to learn to code to become a web developer or freelancer.  Yes, it’s hard work and there are no short cuts here. However, Jan and Aaron are great mentors who explain every lesson thoroughly. Freemote has an exceptional team and a community that is very supportive.    Freemote has given me the confident and structure I need to become a full-time web developer or freelancer if I choose. 

Investing in Freemote was by far the best decision I have made to become a great developer and one of the best career moves overall. It is hard to believe the amount of knowledge and how well the knowledge is communicated for the low price tag. I think one of the best things about Freemote is that it is more of a membership than a regular BootCamp in that once you pay into the community, you have continual access to updated course material. Aaron, Jan, and the freemote team are hyperfocused on tailoring and updating the course catalog to teach what is working now (whenever now is for you)! Buying Freemote once is like buying Freemote 2021, Freemote, 2022, Freemote 2023, Freemote 2024...etc!

The information provided is in-depth enough to inspire confidence but not so in-depth that it is overwhelming, somewhere between a "crash-course" and a "college curriculum course".

I would do it all over again!!!

I've been in the program for a few months, moving a little slower than what the course is designed for, but the course is very informative and realistic. I had prior programming knowledge, and still there are many insights and explanations that Aaron offers that made concepts that at one time eluded me make total sense. Jan and the rest of the team are very knowledgeable of their crafts and it shows. The technical support is top notch, and they really take the time and care to thoroughly address the problems you may have and work with you until you get it.

The ONLY caveat I would put forth is that the program, though very structured (how I needed it), requires a good amount of creativity and proactivity on your part. Particularly when you get to the freelancing stage, you are going to need to take it on yourself to design and build a decent portfolio site all by yourself (though there are many sites all over the internet to help with this). This is something that I personally struggle with and take no pleasure in doing, and if you're like me, you may want to at least know up front what this program will demand of you. Everything else was dense, well guided, and very well structured to where you always feel challenged but never overwhelmed.

And finally, the community you will be a part of is priceless, and well worth the price of admission for any serious partakers. You can tell these guys genuinely care about your success, practice what they preach, and have been exactly where you've been.

Calling this just a bootcamp would be misleading.  Freemote is so much more.  What sets them apart  in my opinion is 2 things.  

1.  The have a focused path and set of technologies to propel a student from start to finish.  And by finish, they mean get you working in the field.  How?  

2.  This is the ONLY bootcamp I've seen out there that balances coding and soft skills in a way that can take someone from novice/outsider to paid freelancer/insider.  

Third thing worthy of mentioning is how Aaron and Jan have structured the course.  They both truly have a gift when it comes to teaching technical concepts.  And that, alone, justifies the cost.  Anyone who's tried to learn a programing language knows how slow and painful it can be.  What they have taught me would have taken me years to learn any other way.  

Overall the course has been a great experience so far. As a complete beginner it is challenging to learn some of the coding content but the way they teach has made it much easier then I expected. Week 1 so far has been the longest to complete. Week 2 was much easier and quicker to complete. I'm starting week 3 today and I'm looking forward to completing it so I can get closer to getting my own clients. The course definitely builds your confidence up so that you can feel capable of considering yourself to be a professional when trying to get clients. There's a lot to learn and it can feel overwhelming sometimes but the key for me has been to focus on actions > outcomes, as Aaron says in the course.

I'm two weeks into the 7 week program.  Truth be told it's a little MORE intense than I thought it would be.  I came in having had some experience so the first week on HTML and CSS was more review than anything else, but they managed to keep it informative and challenging.  I'm not sure how well a complete beginner would fare.

I really appreciate the practical focus towards developing a portfolio to show employers your expertise.  This is not your typical online school.  Granted I'm only about 1/4 the way through, but I think I'm in the right place and the future looks bright to me.   

I am currently enrolled in this boot camp (Week 3) and really like it, don't get me wrong, its not for everyone. I am someone who has always wanted to create my own business and have never really cared much about getting a silicon valley FANG job so the things that Freemote offers are extremely valuable to me, these are:

- Resources such as app, recommended themes, testing pages and stuff the staff actually uses in real life for real projects
- Pricing, marketing and selling tactics for you to actually use in your daily workflow
- Programming tools such as version control(Git) and other resources that youll need
- Precedence in the form of past experiences you can use to navigate entrepreneurship
- Enough coding to get you started and some more

You can probably find all of this online but it would most likely be inefficient and will take you more time, this program is perfect if like me, your biggest hurdle is getting started due to a case of analysis paralysis. I also recognize that the program wont make me a full web developer (they dont claim to) and I will probably need to learn more languages such as Node and React in my own but if I can support myself while doing some Shopify development and improve in my understanding of good store development and customer behavior, once I have a full web-dev knowledge I will be a better developer. 

The teaching approach of any instructor goes a long way in grooming the success of his students down the line. The teachers and the entire team at Freemote perfectly exemplifies this. One crucial aspect of the Freemote coding bootcamp I love is how much the instructors and code mentors are involved in the success of the students. They are very swift with responses to coding problems faced by students and this for me is exactly what I wanted when I purchased the course. I will gladly give the Freemote team a 5 star rating. 

So my experience with Freemote has been amazing for a multiplicity of reasons and I'll start off with how I came into the course.

My first interaction with Freemote came from the advertisements I've been noticing on Youtube, I was searching in videos for coding and trying to find the resources to help me learn how to understand different coding languages (for a free course I was trying out) and that's primarily when I remember coming across advertisements from Freemote and Aaron Jack. A long story short, after several advertisements later I clicked on the link and listened to one of his Youtube videos and that is where my exact feelings about coding were explained in one video. My interest at that time skyrocketed because I felt that this course could possibly add some direction in my learning journey for coding. 

The next thing that happened in my timeline is that I booked a free call with one of Freemote's staff and had a live video call where I was able to ask any questions I had about the course, expectations, people in my similar position, etc. After that call I decided to sign up for the course because I literally had nothing to lose with their cash-back guarantee so I thought "Why not?". From that moment forth when I decided to join the Freemote group I knew that this was a decision I did not regret making because this course has all the necessary tools to help me succeed in my opinion. I say this because here I've been pushed to go on my own to try and do the coding work by myself and whether I get the code correct or not I feel I was able to get all the resources I needed beforehand for that particular assignment opposed to feeling like the material needed hasn't been taught sufficiently enough. The main idea I'm getting at is that this course helps me to feel proud of myself for working out a problem on my own and then looking at the proper solution to help reinforce/encourage me to continue to get better.

The best of all is that this course is super active and up-to-date with its lessons. Other resources I looked into before Freemote typically had outdated material and really didn't inspire me to reach out for help when I needed it. Here at Freemote I receive help from online mentors who send recorded videos critiquing my code and also offer advice on ways I can make my code better as well as answering any questions that I have about my code. This was absolutely mind-blowing to me because after just one of these videos I felt my learning skyrocketed and it only helped me realize how much I enjoyed doing this course day after day.

I've only been enrolled for a couple weeks now while still working a full-time job that demands 40+ hours a week but this course has been able to teach me so much of what I can be confident in doing in such a smaller time frame than what I thought possible and it continues to inspire me more each lesson. I know this course is a super valuable asset to me and I would definitely recommend this to anyone out there who wishes to get into coding but doesn't know where to start. This is a great place for you to begin or continue your coding journey!
