By that, I mean that this curriculum is as hands off or mentor intensive as you wish it to be and this level of freedom persists throughout most of the layers of the program.
So, the only issues that I've had with this curriculum are my own bad habits; I get to work on those while I learn coding. A true growing experience.
The curriculum isn't perfect, but it is relaxed enough to allow for dynamic solutions to these imperfections. Above all, the amount of, "understanding," I experience is very encouraging. Roadblocks that prevent me from attending regular schooling are met with a, "I understand and appreciate your disabilities; we'll get through this together," mentality.

Not your Normal Bootcamp
I have completed a previous 12 week bootcamp, and did very well. However I was not prepared by any means. I attempted to enter a Hackathon and felt completely unprepared. The best thing about CodeX is that you don't advance levels until you can pass the mastery evaluations for each section as well as the completed project for each level. in case you get stuck and are unable to find a solution to your problems, you can lean on the mentors or attend daily Q&A sessions. It's great to have these invaluable tools at your disposal. Enjoying the Process

From the beginning, you are given that direction of learning concepts with a project in mind and at that you have help available 24/7 whether its through Slack or your 1 on 1 time with your assigned mentor which you can get access to daily. Also in order to pass to the next level or badge you get evaluated and receive constant feedback on what you personally have to work on meaning there is a certain level of mastery you need to have in order to progress, making it both a challenge and an opportunity to know what it feels like to explain concepts to someone else, setting up a mental framework for yourself from a position of teaching someone. They focus on programming mastery and offer a real internship (if desired) rather than...I decided to go with CodeX after an arduous search process and several interviews with some of the top software engineering courses. My why for choosing CodeX? They focus on programming mastery and offer a real internship (if desired) rather than giving you a certificate after 9-12 weeks' worth of work. I believe that mastery-based curriculums are the most effective method of learning, but realize that few schools actually offer this style of teaching; possibly because it's a more difficult business model (another big reason for choosing CodeX, they care more about your success). For some though, this might mean taking several weeks or several months to get through the various levels. The amazing thing is that it all depends on YOU, and how you absorb information.
Features of the program:
A few of the benefits from CodeX are the 1-1 mentoring (live sessions), daily check-ins, live coding evaluations, Q&A sessions, and a supportive environment to help achieve your personal & professional goals. Personally, the mentors and face-to-face coding evaluations have boosted my confidence & helped me solve complex problems for my capstone projects. I feel that I wouldn't have gotten such personal support & attention in any other school.
Final thought:

I am amazed at the amount of knowledge I have now and I look forward to learning more. Honestly, I could have tried sifting through the endless amount of free resources available to learn how to code, but I didn't even know where to begin, which language to learn, what path was best for me, etc. For me, the best part of CodeX is that everything I need to know to be Software Developer is laid out for me in a clear path with lists of skills to master for each step of the way. To add on to this, I get evaluated on my knowledge and technical skills along each step of the way to ensure that I actually understand what I'm doing. I believe the evaluators are professionals working as Software Developers. One important thing to note about this course is that you truly have to hold yourself accountable because it is self-paced. All the resources for you to be successful are provided, but you need to keep yourself on track. I've made myself a schedule and would highly recommend doing so. You'll get a feel for your own pace during the first level. In my experience as a student in Codex Academy, I have found very helpful having someone I can ask for help every day, and that's what I've had in my mentoring sessions, also being able to have different schedules for the sessions has been really...In my experience as a student in Codex Academy, I have found very helpful having someone I can ask for help every day, and that's what I've had in my mentoring sessions, also being able to have different schedules for the sessions has been really important. Now the Academy has also implemented Q&A sessions which allow us to have extra time with a different mentor every day, in this session we don't just interact with the mentor but we can also interact with other students, that have different difficulties in their everyday coding. When developing projects, it has been essential to have a mentor that can guide you and that can get you out a problem if you are stuck. Having a well-structured path and knowing what are the most important things to learn in each topic has been essential, because every topic has so much information that if you don't have a structured path you can get lost so easily.
Having the possibility to have evaluations with human evaluators, has been great learning experience, because you can show your true understanding of a topic and since you are being evaluated by another person there is no opportunity for chance, you really need to be sure of what you have learned. Having the support of everybody in Codex Academy has been great, support not only of the mentors but of the whole Codex team, which are constantly involved in our progress. More and more students are getting involved in Codex Academy which makes it a great community for learning a growth. And another plus for those who need mentors that also speak Spanish you can find them here too !!.

With this approach you get much needed feedback on your code as well as industry "best-practices" from an experienced developer. I also really enjoyed the daily one one one time I get with my mentor. This is very different compared to standard learning in a class room with others. Its a great time to reflect and also ask questions from a working developer! It is a waste of time and money wrapped in a veil of motivational messages and lies. Most instructors are rude and will make fun of you if you don't know something in an evaluation. I have gotten off calls crying because of how stupid the instructor made me feel, which is ironic because all of their "curriculum" is just a collection of resources on the internet that you can find for free. I have only encountered 2 nice instructors that made me feel welcomed and those were the main instructor and an evaluation instructor I got one time. Most of my first month in this camp was used to figure out how the camp worked because I was told to do things completely differently on kickoff day than on orientation. This was confusing and I think it goes to show that they probably have no idea what they are doing. The only reason I want to finish is that my family paid their hard-earned money for this program for me because it truly is my dream but I am realizing that this is an awful way to go about it. Also THANK GOD I am taking this course through a community college because if it wasn't there would be no one helping me get a job after this course. After your target date passes you will pay by month. They upped the price a significant amount in the middle of my studies, so I didn't have much of a choice but to swallow it and continue. Most of the meetings I scheduled to get a badge were cancelled sometimes 5 minutes before due to someone "not feeling well", which wasted my time and kept me from progressing and in turn, costed me more money. I was promised to be connected to a job or internship with their many partner companies, but they just shared a database of companies to me so I could go look for job openings and apply myself. I got connected to a hiring manager, but after two cancelled meetings I got an email saying positions were already filled and he'd let me know if something came up. I made connections on my own, got an interview and realized that I didn't know much when I got there. I did learn a lot in the program though. Progressing through the pathways is fun and having a project that meets requirements feels rewarding.
