Front-End Developer

CodeX is a great place to learn coding on your own time and have access to a great support system with group chats, tutors/mentors and other resources. I have enjoyed my journey thus far and would recommend others join. It is fairly new so expect some kinks to be worked out as you go. But this is the nature of programming 

I knew absolutely nothing about web development before starting CodeX Academy two months ago. I am amazed at the amount of knowledge I have now and I look forward to learning more. Honestly, I could have tried sifting through the endless amount of free resources available to learn how to code, but I didn't even know where to begin, which language to learn, what path was best for me, etc. For me, the best part of CodeX is that everything I need to know to be Software Developer is laid out for me in a clear path with lists of skills to master for each step of the way. To add on to this, I get evaluated on my knowledge and technical skills along each step of the way to ensure that I actually understand what I'm doing. I believe the evaluators are professionals working as Software Developers. One important thing to note about this course is that you truly have to hold yourself accountable because it is self-paced. All the resources for you to be successful are provided, but you need to keep yourself on track. I've made myself a schedule and would highly recommend doing so. You'll get a feel for your own pace during the first level. I'm enrolled part-time, but I've been really pushing myself to learn full-time and have been learning everything quite quickly.

As someone that has worked alone thru various courses etc... I needed some direction, and from the start I felt I was supported with this program. Its a self paced program that depends on the student to collect badges, but you are unable to proceed unless you are able to pass a one on one live evaluation. With this approach you get much needed feedback on your code as well as industry "best-practices" from an experienced developer. I also really enjoyed the daily one one one time I get with my mentor. This is very different compared to standard learning in a class room with others. Its a great time to reflect and also ask questions from a working developer! I cant say enough about the team here, everyone was very helpful and attentive to my needs.
