Coming into Coding Dojo's boot camp, I only knew HTML, CSS, and a little bit of JavaScript. I now can confidently say that I have accomplished learning three full stacks during the 14 weeks I attended the boot camp. The instructors were wonderful, the curriculum allowed us to learn the basics and also challenge us to research additional learning on our own, and the option to have a career services manager drastically helped in my confidence in finding a job afterwards.

The Coding Dojo is one of the most immersive and fun learning experiences I have taken. If you are looking for a career change or simply looking to learn, this course is perfect for you. You will be taught not only the fundamentals of multiple languages but you'll also be taught how to learn and teach yourself some stuff along the way. Being able to teach yourself some things is a great way to feel super accomplished when you get a task completed. Enjoy yourself, never give up and remember nothing is easy.

Lets start with the interest of how things work. I'm always curious how you get from a to b and the complications that come with it. If you like to learn about something new and have the help to understand what you are learning then Coding Dojo is it. The instructors are super helpful and very nice. Career Service Department is helpful to point you in the right direction or where to start when it comes to making a appealing resume and how to search for a job. There will be times where you dont know what to do and we ALL felt that way, But once you figure out how to problem solve or display/query data from a database on to whatever page you want.... the feeling is amazing. And the fact you can do it in multiple languages and Databases. I cant really go a day without typing a line of code or thing about an idea of a solution I was working on. I'm glad I got to learn 3 full stacks and My only suggestion when you decide to join is ask questions and get some sleep even though I was a pro by any means and I was putting in easy 70-90 hour weeks. But that included lectures and labs and asking other students questions. Again ask questions and write notes!. I want to Thanks to all my Instructors Phil, Saurabh, Nichole and Adrien the TA's Daisy, Chris, Michael. Jori Thanks for the initial interview to answer all my questions before I joined. Lets not leave out Michael Choi. Thank you all.

An intense program in which they really teach you to program in three different languages in 14 weeks, with first-rate teachers. What I learned the most was to get out of my comfort zone and to think outside the box. I learned to learn and to be always curious to know more. Despite being an online program, the level of demand is incredible and the teachers are always available to answer questions and help you.

During this 14 week immersive bootcamp I gained a great, wholistic overview of what web development entails. The program is certainly time intensive- in addition to 2-3 hours of lectures per day the assignments and readings require more like 60 hours per week, but you truly get out of it what you put in and if you commit yourself to this program you'll find by the end you've gained a great taste of what web development is all about. Personally I came from a tech background so I was somewhat familiar with the terminology and tools; for students from non-tech backgrounds, I'd highly recommend spending a bit of time before the program getting familiar with the terminology through the prework and online tutorials. Devoting at least a week to the pre-work is essential to making sure you start out on a solid foot. Luckily the online course material is very helpful and thorough even for true beginners.
I found the instructors and team of TAs to be very helpful and accessible despite the pivot to a fully online program. Although completing this program doesn't mean you're guaranteed a job upon graduation, you'll gain the tools and resources to grow your development skills even after the course concludes.

What a rewarding and incredible journey it has been to earn black belts in Python, MEAN and Java at Coding Dojo! Coding Dojo is a unique coding bootcamp that teaches three full technology stacks in a single 14-week program. From the admissions advisors, to my instructors and also the teaching assistants who were available whenever we needed them, to my cohorts and the career specialists that have been incredibly supportive. I am a self-sufficient software developer with hands-on programming experience though the in-depth three-stack curriculum, our industry-tested learning platform, hands-on assignments, career support and much more. I feel ready and fully prepared to transition into a new phase of IT. I have the skill set to learn new languages quickly and I can create entire websites from front to back. Oh! and I have never been as proud of ME as I am right now...I did it! Thank you Coding Dojo!

I have been a student at Coding dojo. I joined the online software developement program. I had some background with computer science, that made it easier for me to further learn and make projects using HTML, CSS and Javascript. With Python I selected C# for my third stack and the instructors helped me understand basic requirements. I would recommemd this program to starters as this bootcamp provides 24/7 assistance from TA's and the instructors are really supportive.

My way or journey into software development ended with 12+ years in the Marine Corps incorporating the art and science of war including use of martial arts with a generalist or “one mind, any weapon” ethos. Prior to joining the military, I studied Computer Science for two years then transferred into an Electrical/Computer Engineering degree program, graduated then went directly into the military. In 2016 while waiting to depart the military I enrolled in a Java Full Stack Web Development Boot Camp with Skill Distillery in Denver, Colorado. During this 4-month resident course I learned Java, Spring, MySQL, and AngularJS 1.6. Following graduation multiple offers prompting me to relocate to Washington, DC initially for work as a software engineer enticed me with the allure of cyberwarfare–penetration testing, malware engineering, zombies/botnets, and distributed denial of service attacks. However, though I had originally planned to work for a defense contracting company my first position as a software developer was with the Washington Post in 2017. This posed a new challenge due to most WaPO teams using Python and ReactJS leading me to the Coding Dojo Online Full Stack Web Development Course. During my time at WaPO I had also decided to go back to school and pursue a master’s degree in software engineering. So in 2018 while working as a WaPO software developer, I was also taking my first grad class in Java and starting my second stack at the Dojo. What drew me to the Coding Dojo was the multiple stacks (Ruby, Python, iOS, C#, React, ect) incorporating time tested techniques (TDD, web scalability, web security, data structures, cloud deployments, wireframes, etc) available and online curriculum allowing me to learn and use Python immediately on the job. Having Java as a first OOP language also made it easier to pick up Python in an online setting. Following the Python stack, I was then reintroduced to Angular but version 6 with TypeScript as part of the MEAN stack. By this time I had successfully completed my Java class with an A and was now interviewing for my second position as a software engineer. Without warning I receive an email from a Google Hiring manager who noticed the variety of stacks (Java, Python, MEAN) on my LinkedIn page and inquired if I was interested in a summer internship, to which I said “yes”. Over the course of the Fall 2018 semester with some struggle I complete a second grad course, Coding Dojo’s third stack, and Google’s intern hiring process. I end up getting recommended for a second round of interviews with Google, commit to learning all of Coding Dojo’s stacks and continue with my software engineering graduate program.
There have been many similarities between my military experiences and path as a software engineer through the Dojo from the mindset of a ninja–first being, master the technique then the weapon (weapons/tools will likely change before the technique). With Coding Dojo learning multiple stacks trains you to all aspects of a full stack so that you can adapt to every unique application you will inevitably encounter during your career. Strength through struggle is a paradigm that also includes knowing your weaknesses, resources to mitigate weaknesses, and seeking self-improvement. Equally important is being a lifelong learner because the techniques, tactics, and procedures will likely change however your effort as a software engineer will not. Finally like any workout regiment worth its weight–exercising the eco system of hardware, networks, cloud services, security, APIs, and analytics all function to support software as the core organism. To avoid spoiling the book, my way as a peaceful warrior (ninja with three belts) is far from over in software engineering and like most will not end until all obstacles imagined and real have been overcome.

I am about to deploy a beta version of a financial modeling software that will be tested at two real companies that do business globally. It has been coded with Angular 7 and Node.js. Development time has been around 1200 hours and is algorithm-heavy. I was told it would cost anywhere between $250,000 to $1million to do do this by an established software development firm.
Two rules have been broken here. Financial modeling on Javascript (not Python!!!???). From a full-stack perspective, Javascript made more sense and where the project is now I think it was the right call. The extra work of building own financial libraries was also quite rewarding and fun, and that counts too!
The second rule is that I am in my 40s. Most famous and successful tech entrepreneurs are college dropouts not corporate dropouts with a family. So out of courage, conviction and vision, I started my search for the best way to make the app of my dreams a reality.
The decision process was: a) I have to do this myself ... b) I have to learn --fast, so immersive bootcamp ... c) it has to be good --- Coding Dojo.
I made lots of research and chose Coding Dojo. Having gone through their curriculum gave me the vocabulary and the technical and mental seeds that have helped me get this far with the project. Reality will come after deployment, but I’m among friends with my beta testers and still got the juice to keep going!
The experience at Coding Dojo was challenging, inspiring and energizing. A few months after graduation, it feels rewarding.
Graduate 2019
I recently graduated from Coding Dojo taking the full time online course with stacks in Web Fundamentals, Python, and MEAN. For background information my first programming boot camp experience was as a resident student at Skill Distillery in Colorado with a four month boot camp focusing on Java 8 using Spring, MySQL, and AngularJS 1.5. I also entered the bootcamp scene with a Bachelor Degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering from UT in Austin with my first two years as a Computer Science Major. I graduated from Skill Distillery's boot camp in 2017 and decided to attend another boot camp after getting a job at The Washington Post as a Software Developer because they were using Python, MongoDB, ReactJS among other technologies I had no exposure to.
What led me to Coding Dojo is their advertisments of five full stacks, online courses, and physical location near my geographic area in Northern Virginia. I should also note in addition to working while attending Coding Dojo's full time online course, I was also in my first year as a graduate student pursuing a Master degree in Software Engineering from George Mason University.
I will save a true review of my experiences and some comparative analysis of the two boot camps including online versus resident after I hopefully recieve a response from someone at Coding Dojo about taking additional stacks. I hate leaving a cliff hanger like this but since Coding Dojo advertises five stacks and partially why I chose their program, it is only fair I defer until I get the full monty. Coding Dojo, as an alumn I have made multiple attempts in getting information in how to gain access to advertised resources, if I do not receive a response within a resonable amount of time, I will write a full review based on my own assumptions.
