If you want to become a software developer I think the value you get from Coding Dojo is well worth it. You aren’t just paying for videos or content to read, they really provide a robust and challenging experience that I will personally never forget. The friends you make in your cohort are essential for completing the program and becoming successful. The instructors and TAs are aligned with your goals and serve as teachers, mentors, and councilors. You get career service support and are able to become part of a community of developers which helps you transition into the field. These things combined with comprehensive and engaging content all combine to make it possible to learn so much in 14 weeks. The time estimates are all accurate, you will need to spend 50+ hours per week or more to succeed, but if you enjoy coding and learning it doesn’t all feel like work. I was actually sad to finish because I enjoyed the grind but now I have the tools and knowledge to continue what is the beginning of a new journey.

I think that the methodology of Coding Dojo, in the field of education of programming, is the best. The Bootcamp of the Coding Dojo is a big challenge because learning three stacks( Python, Java and MERN) in fourteen weeks, is a little time, but with the methodology and the support of the instructors, It is the perfect place to learn programming of a form intensive and a short time.Since I began with the Bootcamp, the instructor explained in detail the different technologies and the material of the platform were from the basic knowledge to advanced and it was the form most convenient for beginning programmers, like me.The Bootcamp introduces the development web( JavaScript y HTML), Python (Flask), Java(spring) and MERN(MongoDB, Express, React and Nodejs). The best part is that we have a Loreto Larrain the attendant of career service, for me, it is new, but it is necessary to find a job. Thanks to this knowledge, Alfredo and Marcelo my Instructors, I can understand and do code

I was impressed with the process. I chose coding dogs based upon the consistency of the reviews, negative and positive. First, I would say that except for one instructor I was VERY impressed with the level of instruction, helpfulness, etc. Second the TAs were extremely helpful also and understanding and willing to always assist. This was important for me since I was coming from a completely different field. The things I learned here had given me an extreme confidence to go and find jobs in my area while still learning more about programming. This program takes people from 0 understandings to creating applications albeit basic, understanding how things go together differences between them and giving you experience or sometimes just a quick look at new things in JS, for example, so your not fully surprised when you see it at your job. Algorithms, React, apis, and basic programmer tools, are all included and make you competitive, I believe, at the end. One thing that really impressed me was that their learning platform is constantly updating, it changed probably 6 times in the time I was there. They keep things updated and are constantly modifying it for your good. Career services, the Career service person I use(d) is B. Sanchez and he is Great! Just a wealth of info and encouragement. I took off a 1/2 star for the Python instructor, I found that to be a big issue for me, but at the end my struggle of understanding with that instructor it allowed me to move on easier , but I still feel like the instructor wasn’t worth the money I paid. And the other 1/2 star would be from them not having the right dates of time off during the holidays. I went through it from November to early March and not many people knew, including instructors what the holiday was going to be like. In all honesty though I would really rate them 4.5 stars as the latter want that big of a deal. To end this I would definitely take other courses, and probably will, from Coding Dojo.

I looked for a long time to find the right BootCamp. I was leaving a career of 17 years for something I had no idea how to do. No background in tech whatsoever. I compared tuition, reviews, Alumni access/involvement, time commitment, duration, among other things. I looked for at least a year and kept coming back to Coding Dojo. I made the jump last November and do not regret it one bit! Coding Dojo's instructors are all dedicated teachers who want to see you succeed. Most, if not all of the instructors have been students at Coding Dojo themselves. They know what you go through during the process and how difficult it can be. Mike, Seeso and Saurabh were all amazing!! If you're looking for a change, this is the place!

I had a great experience attending Coding Dojo. Classes are well structured and teachers are knowledgeable. I was lucky to make some friends along the way too, and having a good community helps a lot in the journey. Some statistics about post-grad job search: graduated in late December, started applying for jobs in February. After sending about 50-70 applications I secured about 10 interviews and on 21st March I started working as a SE for a consulting company. My only complaint would be Career Services. My manager canceled all 3 of the scheduled meetings, I requested a change and got assigned a person who was leaving the company and during our call wasn't really engaged anymore. That got me a little discouraged so I didn't use that part of the service, although the content on the learning platform was very useful and helped me in the preparation of my resume. All in all great experience was absolutely worth it!

Coding Dojo's full-time online boot camp was a challenging and amazing brain-melting adventure. Their teaching style of strength through struggle, promoting self-sufficient programming habits, and working together with cohort-mates were all invaluable and integral to both my learning and overall experience. The availability and dedication of the Career Services Team was a bonus and having this resource available for life is worth it.

Great School, Instructors are awesome, TA's really help out. And your cohorts are your new friends. Its a wild ride but worth it

Coding Dojo was a wonderful place to attend a coding boot camp. I had a great experience with every instructor I had, and the TAs were extremely knowledgeable as well. Instructors consistently made themselves available after class hours and sometimes even on weekends - they truly went above and beyond. They designed the curriculum to be appropriate for beginners like myself, and I found success even with no prior coding experience.

Huge alarm bells went off for me with this company and I am glad that they did because as I tried to cancel they got even more shady.I tried to enroll with Coding Dojo and was all set to pay. My wife wanted me to use a particular card to get extra miles, but it only had 12k available on it, and the course was starting soon so I needed to pay right away and didn't have time to pay down the card first. I looked on their website, but there was no way to split up a payment without jumping onto a payment plan. This is a bit odd since I can't have been the first person ever to want to split up a payment of over 13,000 dollars. I called and asked if this could be done. They said sure and they would look into making it work. They sent me back an agreement that had me on the payment plan spending 16k instead, and assured me it would be fixed afterwards behind the scenes... But the agreement that I would sign says that the contract I signed IS the full agreement and anything else that we talked about didn't happen. They then went back to send me a new contract and update it. When they said it was fixed I went in to pay, but their website had me locked into the other payment portion. It was after their phone hours so I clicked to report a problem, and was greeted with an error message that it didn't work and I couldn't report an error. HUGE RED FLAG!How does a company which purports to train people specifically on web development NOT have a website that works properly, and even their error reporting button is broken?!?! WHAT?!?!? I have pictures and documented all of this.I was told afterwards to just click through this portion and then I could see the next screen and they would change it behind the scenes again. But the part they wanted me to click through would be agreeing to pay them, which at this point I have decided to go with a different coding bootcamp. I declined and told them I lost confidence in their company's ability to train me if they can't even fix their own site.I then received 7 phone calls from their company using their auto-dialer. They had done this a few times before when they called and it would answer then click through to a person, but this time it was just dead air, all 7 times.I then received an email from them stating that I needed to sign a withdrawal form for the class that I never actually signed up for. Hidden in the blue link that says "I acknowledge the Coding Dojo Withdrawal, Cancellation, or Drop Form." is actually another contract stating that my net tuition was $13,745, they haven't billed me, but some funny wording which makes it unclear on if I were to apply in the future if they would try to collect that part in addition to other tuition... not that I would apply to them in the future.Keep in mind that I NEVER signed any contract with them. They basically just had a series of errors on their system's part and then asked me to sign an actual contract. No, nope, no way.To make things better I now get non stop emails, calls, and youtube marketing. I have requested that they cease, we will see if they actually do. But a word to the community, choose someone more reputable than this. If a company is shady and has issues TAKING YOUR MONEY, the time when they are the MOST motivated, then what on earth makes anyone think that this company would stand behind their commitment to educate and assist with your job search, the part that COSTS THEM MONEY?

Super approachable information, presented in an easy to understand, albeit still challenging manner. Coding Dojo has great instructors and has left me feeling 100% ready to jumpstart my career as a software engineer.
Graduate 2021
Coding Dojo is a great bootcamp for beginners. Concepts are explained in an understandable way and the Learn platform which is the bread and butter of the bootcamp is excellent. You build on concepts slowly instead of learning the more complicated stuff right off the bat. They also spend an hour every day going over algorithms to prep us for our job search after the bootcamp. My only complaints really are the other students. Algorithms are done in groups, and projects at the end of each stack are solo or group, however to practice the AGILE software development we were expected to do stand ups every day with other cohort-mates. In both the group algorithms and daily stand ups for projects, I had team members who did not contribute and that honestly does hurt the experience. However -- when I did bring this up to my instructor, she resolved it whenever it happened, whether that was moving me to a different group or making algorithm groups larger so that there'd be a higher chance of participation.I would recommend Coding Dojo to any beginner who is trying to break into the field.

TL:DR { Coding Dojo is an awesome program but not without a few rough edges. If approached with a good mindset and strong work ethic it can turn you into a very competent and self-reliant programmer. This is important and something to emphasize - Coding Dojo teaches YOU how to be a self-reliant and curious software engineer by laying a solid foundation of skills and concepts and providing a structured and vetted educational approach (rinse and repeat) to get you oriented and familiar with the terrain. It will not give you all the answers. They help teach you how to learn and be resourceful, and I found that extremely helpful. Overall, I thought it was an amazing experience, extremely valuable in helping me transition into the tech industry, and a lot of hard work - but the rewarding kind. I would certainly recommend it if you're a hard worker and serious about learning software development on an expedited timeline.} Long form - A bit stream of conscious: I chose to participate in Coding Dojo's full-time 14-week online Full Stack Web Development Bootcamp after reading reviews on Course Report, so it only makes sense to follow up with my own report. Overall, I had a really positive experience. "The Dojo" as it's called, is a quality program that has clearly been vetted, and it's going to give you a wide, but somewhat shallow, understanding of 3 prominent tech stacks and Web Fundamentals (full-time). I chose Python, MERN (React.js) and Java. There's A LOT of information packed into this course. More than you really have time to fully digest, thus the "shallow" perspective. It's not that the information isn't there to be absorbed, it's the amount of hours in a day and rapid pace of curriculum that somewhat limits the depth you can absorb of it. Thus, the title of my post. You will get out of it what you give, and they're not kidding when they say it can be 60 - 80 hour weeks. Not all weeks are like that, but definitely expect that to be the norm not the exception, and get yourself ready. Get your life in order and commit to the learning process by diving head first in. If you do, you will be absolutely stunned what you learn in 14 weeks. I came into the program with 0 coding experience sans some FreeCodeCamp.org (very basics), and I feel like I can now swim in the big-blue-bottomless ocean of web development. That's saying something. In general, the instructors can be hit and miss, some are clearly looking for their own foot hold in the industry and teaching in the mean time. It can feel like those folks are phoning it in at times. Others seem to be there because they love teaching people how to code and they've found their niche. However, I feel this split will be anywhere you go. Heck, they felt more engaged and more interesting then most of my college professors. And I will say, they all new what they were doing and/or where committed to finding an answer to your question if they didn't know it. The LEARN platform (the virtual textbook you use during the program) is PACKED with solid information and additional resources that you can explore on your own beyond the baseline curriculum. It also has some minor mistakes and incongruousness, which can be annoying, but the organization as a whole is super feedback focused. They request your participation in surveys frequently (almost annoyingly) but the saving grace is that they actually put that feedback into practice and you can see it happen before your eyes. Again, this means communicating and filling out the surveys. Passengers will drown on this ship - you must embrace being a crew member and take accountability for your learning. To this point, there is a good amount of self-directed learning involved. Let's be honest, you have to get into the weeds, do your own research at times, and lean into exploring what you don't know to better understand concepts or material not as thoroughly covered. Ironically, some of the things I didn't understand at first, I became the best at (SQL queries) through my own volition. However, I feel the Dojo does do a good job of framing this ahead of time. It's like riding a bike or learning to skateboard. Sure you can watch video after video of how to ride / skate. You can even have someone hold you up, but if you're not out there on your wheels exploring new terrain and trying new tricks, you'll always need the training wheels. The students who expected it to be spoon fed to them struggled with the pace of the FT curriculum, and not all of them made it out. That's a heavy bill to swallow if you don't complete, so it's worth putting in the time. On the other hand, the go getters made some really cool apps that will be awesome to show off to future employer prospects. And on that note, I too think the Dojo puts an appropriate amount of emphasis on career services and personal projects - after all, that's what will get you hired. The career services team was great and frequently held workshops that were relevant to the career search. The whole career services process is very regimented and well designed, and although the career services team is bogged down, they make time for you and are very resourceful as long as (** apologies for being a broken record here) you are putting in the effort and consistently communicating with them. The project weeks themselves seem to be taking on more structure to help support students, because it was easy to take your foot off the gas and relax after intense course weeks, but like I said, these are what make you stand out in the work force, so project weeks are not the time to relax. Double down in fact. Currently, I'm ~ two weeks out from graduation (minus the holidays) and I'm on the job hunt. It's intimidating for sure, but I think the hardest part is knowing that I have the skill set but not perhaps not the shiny credentials.... yet. So it will continue to be a grind and hard work, but that's this program. I know what I learned at The Dojo will put me on to rewarding career in software development because I'm confident in what I learned. Additionally, I've felt like I've been picking up traction this past week. Career services and the resources provided by the Dojo have helped me improve my response rate. I'll try to check back in with an update on how the job search goes, but overall, the prep by the Dojo for job hunting has felt adequate and much appreciated. But, (... last time I'll say it), they aren't going to hold your hand through it. This program takes commitment and discipline. They will put the resources and structure out there for you and it will be up to you to go and get it. Be a crew member, not a passenger. My 3 tips of advice to any future student: - Get your life right to focus on school. Warn your friends and family that you won't have as much time during this period. Frame it early so it doesn't become an issue. - Find a small group of friends / study partners that you can hang out with to complete assignments. Many nights my buddies and I stayed late on Zoom and helped one another. We all took our exams on time and passed w/in 1-2 tries. This is the most important tip. Find a group that you can enjoy this experience with. They will hold you accountable / allow you to vent / and make it so much more fun. - Lastly, kick ass on the projects. Have a few ideas when you come in - it can be hard on the spot - or talk to other students / instructors about ideas. Google it. Maximize your time actually working and learning during project week, and try to have an MVP complete to show off during the week-end graduations. Treat it like a sprint. It will help in the long run. If you found this tip helpful, give it a like. If you are really considering Coding Dojo and want to learn more, hit me up on LinkedIn www.linkedin.com/in/dkearns11/ or twitter @TheKearnol and I'd be happy to talk more about my experience. I can also help you save $500 bucks on your admission fee by making a referral ( I benefit from it too, so don't be shy). Thanks for reading, and happy coding!

Coding Dojo was a great experience, I completed the full-time online course in Python/Mern/Java. Between all the instructors and TA's, the learn platform coding dojo does things right.
Graduate 2021
Absolutely love it! I believe that Coding Dojo is a great boot camp, with great instructors and TAs. As well, great support from CSMs and advices. Instructors create very pleasant atmosphere during lectures and motivate students. There is a lot of assignments and homework to do, but it is rewarding in knowledge you get. Would recommend it 100%.
Graduate 2021
I came to the program with just a little bit of knowledge from Code Academy 2 years ago. (your basic HTML, CSS, JavaScript) But hadn't touched coding in since. The curriculum was structured well and the instructors were always open to questions and problem solving. The pace was maybe a little slow for me at the end of the 14 weeks, but I put a lot of work in outside of class to make sure I understood the concepts and explored new concepts. For most people the pace was just fine, and pushed some along. It was challenging and stimulating for those with no experience as well as those with little experience. Career Services did great on helping with crafting a great resume, LinkedIn, and GitHub. The only thing that would have been better was more networking opportunities with hiring professionals.
Graduate 2021
It's hard work, but what you decide to input is how much output you will get. Algos in the morning was challenging, yet it's a very supportive environment. TA and instructor teach you to step by step, so we understand it. It's a supportive environment for the lecture too. I wish there were a week break between the stacks and not just the weekend. After the weekend, when I started the new stack, it hit me, and I had to learn to translate it into the new language.
Graduate 2021
I attended Coding Dojo the spring of 2021. I really enjoyed my time there and learned a lot. A few things I really liked about the curriculum. They teach you algorithms not just for interviews but to learn to take a part a problem. Instead of teaching you a language they teach you how to code and how see the parallels between languages so you can learn any language. I went fulltime, completely online, and it was great that I had an instructor and a TA(teachers assistance) through a whole stack. Not to mention that through their Discord I had access to to other TA's through most of the day and night.
Graduate 2021
Overall, it is a great program to help you go from knowing nothing about coding to building a fully functional website/app from database to backend to frontend and deploying it on the web. It is very draining and hard but if you are serious about learning computer programming then the difficulty and pace should not be an issue. Be prepared to drop a lot of responsibilities in your life for 14 weeks as you will be coding for at least 8 hours a day if not more. Class is from 9am-5pm and I typically coded for 9-11 hours. I was still able to relax, socialize, and do some chores but for the most part I would have to drop those things to get a little more studying in or to finish the harder or more complex assignments. But it was so satisfying to debug and figure out a challenging problem and completing a functioning website! If you know you wouldn't like being stuck on a problem orThere are holes in the program such as wanting practice problems/material for algos and the instructional material needing more videos/clearer descriptions of code/examples/solutions but it gets the job done and they seem like they are always trying to add/improve to the material as things become more relevant. My least favorite part was morning algorithms that were done in group settings. The lack of lecture beforehand frustrated me (I didn't even know where to start some mornings) and most people don't want to cooperate with each other. Probably because they don't know what to do either. The Student Support/Career Services are also great in my opinion. I have heard/read that others do not like it but I think it is justified. They won't hand you a job and won't do the work for you. It is up to you to set up your portfolio and resume. And after to send your apps. But you have a counselor that helps with workshops, tips, and edits for each of these! They do mock interviews as well. I tried to give as much information as I could! Overall I am very happy to have chosen Coding Dojo and feel that I have the tools to progress to a proficient coder!Pros:-Instructors (and some TAs) are fantastic. This may vary but I only disliked one who did not treat a personal situation of mine correctly.-Curriculum gives you the tools and skills you need. But you do have to do additional work on top of it to master.-Pacing if fast but if you put the time in it's not too bad! Just try to keep on pace or within an assignment behind. I recommend being a day to half day ahead-Career services will help if you use them!Cons:-Tuition is expensive-Algos in the morning are awful unless the instructor does a mini lecture and/or your group is good and talks!-If you don't have a group you may struggle. -No practice problems. Just assignments that build off each other and get more complex. -Material on website-If you have a lot of outside responsibilities full-time may not be best option for you.
Graduate 2021
My experience from initial contact through graduation was great. Very prompt, professional, and helpful staff. They even found an answer to my question about which language was the most popular in scientific research (I am an aspiring physicist and inventor), which I don't imagine gets asked too much (I think most folks want to go into commercial tech and not science). They ensured I got put into the class for that language (Python). Instructors and TAs both were very knowledgeable and helpful. The academic standards are high, but fair and realistic. For example, exams consist of having 5 hours to build a completely functional front and back end application based on the info they give you. That's a lot, but exams are also open source and they will nudge you along in the right direction if they detect you know the info, or tell you where on the learning platform/recorded lecture videos to look for the answer (they don't expect a student to be able to do all this from memory after only a few weeks of exposure). Career Services (optional) has been helpful with resume help and interview prep, there also a lot of resources and training they will give you in that regard too.

I do not have a CS background. However, I always wanted to learn to code to build cool websites. There are many coding boot camps in LA, and I had to figure out which is going to right for me. After COVID-19, everything became online courses, that's when I found Coding Dojo and I decided to go with them. The reason why I chose Coding Dojo was, they teach three full stack languages. I always wanted to learn Python, Java, and JavaScript even when I did not know about them. Because when I see some jobs in the tech industry, they always say they want someone who knows Python and Java. Though JavaScript is so popular, every other coding boot camp teaches it.I've searched and read many reviews on a couple of different sites to find if any women graduated left reviews. I found some women reviews and that really helped. When I decided to start, they asked me if I can really commit at least 70 hours per week, and I said yes. From the start, it was very challenging and I had to push myself 100%. This coding boot camp is no joke. You really got to want it and have passion for it and think about why you are doing this all the time. And many times, you will feel like this is maybe not for you or you are just not as smart as other guys in the class. Everyone has that moment, and you are learning something very new, you will feel like that regardless. Just trust yourself and push it, you will be alright. From my experience, I'm really glad that I chose Coding Dojo because I gained so much knowledge and skills that I would never able to gain by myself watching Youtube. If it worked for me, it would work for you too. I'm looking for a job right now and not really stressed about it. Career service helping me with resume and interview skills right now, so I believe that I will able to find a position soon.
