Six months after graduation I was shipping ML models at a start-up, and within a year I landed an AI product role at a Fortune 50 company. The hands-on curriculum, alumni network, and relentless interview prep gave me everything I needed to break in—and keep leveling up.

I chose NYC Data Science Academy after comparing several bootcamps because I wanted a truly project-driven program, instructors with real industry experience, and meaningful long-term career support. Compared with other options I looked at, NDA stood out for the depth of its hands-on projects and the practical focus of the curriculum — it wasn’t just theory, it was building end-to-end solutions I could put in my portfolio and talk about in interviews.
The experience was intense in the best and hardest ways. The instructors were excellent: knowledgeable, responsive, and able to translate complex concepts into practical steps. The projects were challenging and relevant, which rapidly improved my skills in data cleaning, exploratory analysis, visualization, machine learning workflows, and SQL/Python tooling. On the flip side, the program moves fast and some units felt very dense; group projects sometimes required extra coordination because teammates had different schedules and skill levels. Those challenges were real, but the payoff was worth it — I left with tangible projects, stronger technical confidence, and the ability to communicate results to nontechnical stakeholders.
I did not come from a statistics or data science background, so the bootcamp literally gave me the domain knowledge and hands-on practice I was missing. What genuinely moved me was the alumni support: even five years after graduating, NDA’s career services remained available and actively helpful with referrals, portfolio feedback, and job-search advice. That ongoing commitment made a lasting difference and is a big reason I recommend NYC Data Science Academy to anyone serious about switching into a data role.

I really enjoyed this bootcamp. I came into this looking to switch careers from teaching math, with little knowledge of data science, and have completed the program really excited about my new career. The curriculum really helps you to understand what you will be doing and the mentors are extremely helpful and available whenever you get stuck and need help. I felt supported 100% the entire way. I also was lucky to have the opportunity to get a little hands on experience for my capstone, which I very much appreciated!

Joining NYC Data Science Academy was one of the best decisions I’ve made for my career. The instructors are incredibly knowledgeable and supportive, and the curriculum is very hands-on—the practical approach from real-world projects to mock interviews and mentorship was designed to ensure we’re industry-ready. Highly recommended for anyone serious about data science."

I took this bootcamp mainly due to a referral from a friend and colleague from work. I had a background in working with R but had never really worked with python or ML. My schooling is in Engineering and have been exposed a bit to ML and programming, but have neve really delved deep into it.
The Good:
I though the availability of the TA’s and their responses were amazing. You essentially have infinite time you can schedule with them and their responses re always great. If you asked a question they didn’t have an immediate response to, they would even go back do research and follow up through email and personally cater to your questions, it was great!
The best parts of the course were the python and R modules, they do a great job at explaining these and help you get started right away. The advanced modules on ML were hit and miss and found that I definitely needed to re-inforce after with more studying.
The career guidance and the career network is amazing, at the time of writing I have not yet been actively pursuing a job (just graduated), but am already finding a ton of support.
The guidance you can get from Vivian (the bootcamp founder) is great, she’s always actively trying to get you the best offers and career guidance and you can notice that she really wants her students to succeed.
The projects are well structured, and I really loved them. They are designed to make you progressively get into designing a full blown ML project and though they were great.
The Bad:
Many of the office hours, live lectures and additional support are only offered from 9-5, even for the part-time online version of the bootcamp, this makes it difficult for working professionals to actually benefit from this. It would be nice if some of these were offered after 5pm so that we could attend.
As you get more advanced and specialized, not all the TA’s can really help you, for example I had questions about CNN’s and LLM’s that the TA’s couldn’t really help with until they hired an expert (sometime later) that really knew the topics. The help on all the basic programming stuff is great though.
I thought the SQL and Git modules were a bit lackluster and need more development, however, I also didn’t take the Data Engineering part (I decided to take the data science curriculum), so perhaps they’re better explained in the Data Engineering part and are only supposed to be a gentle intro for the Data Science curriculum.
Some TA’s give better lectures than others, at the time I took the course the best and most comprehensive lectures (especially for the math heavy bits) I thought were given by Luke. The other TA’s did not give great lectures and found were difficult to follow. This mostly applies only to the advanced ML lectures were the math really played a big role. For the basic programming parts, all of the lectures were great, as a matter of fact I found Alex to be a great lecturer for these parts.
Overall:
I found this experience great, for me it was much better than just taking a course online from coursera or other platforms since here you actually have deadlines and classmates that you can interact with and they help keep you honest and push you towards actually finishing. That part was important to me as a working professional since I always found it hard to motivate myself to actively separate some time to studying ML on my own, but this course gave me all the correct motivation in all the best ways.
If you’re looking for a smooth introduction to ML and can’t find the motivation to go it on your own, this bootcamp is the best.
I will definitely need to study more after graduating to snag a job, but that comes with any bootcamp, and the post graduation services here are great as well.

I recently completed the part-time Data Science Bootcamp offered by New York City Data Science Academy, and I must say it was an exceptional experience. Before enrolling, I conducted extensive online research and compared it with other data science boot camps, and I am confident that I made the right choice. The boot camp provided a comprehensive curriculum that covered all the essential aspects of data science. Over the course of 6 months, I gained hands-on experience with Python, R, SQL, and machine learning techniques. The instructors were knowledgeable and experienced, guiding us through beginner and intermediate levels of data science concepts and tools. One of the highlights of the boot camp was the emphasis on real-world projects. Alongside the intensive lectures, we worked on multiple projects that allowed us to apply our knowledge and develop practical skills. These projects were showcased to employers through various channels, including on-campus hiring partner events, student blogs, meetups, and presentations. This exposure helped me gain confidence in my abilities and showcase my work to potential employers. In addition to the excellent educational experience, the academy also provided great post-graduation support. The career assistance offered mock coding challenges, resume and LinkedIn profile reviews, and one-on-one interview reviews. Moreover, they organized hiring and networking events and provided access to a vast alumni network and industry connections. These resources greatly facilitated my transition into the data science industry.Overall, I highly recommend the Data Science Bootcamp by New York City Data Science Academy to anyone looking to jumpstart their career in data science. I decided to do NYCDSA after I spent about a year trying to learn data science on my own in my free time and began feeling like I'd never get it. I did the Data Science with Machine Learning Bootcamp online. I was pretty overwhelmed by the intensity of the coursework that I was watching in the video classes. I found watching the lectures and learning from them to be difficult. However, NYCDSA is extremely project based. So once I started doing the projects, the things I was learning in the lectures began making a lot more sense. The projects are where I found I learned the most and grew way more confident in my abilities. You have unlimited access to mentors to help along the way. By the end of the bootcamp I suddenly realized how much I had really learned. It was an amount that I would not have been capable of doing on my own without the bootcamp's pace pushing me, plus the help from the mentors, teachers, and fellow students. Vivian is the heart and soul of NYCDSA and is very dedicated to making sure everyone gets a job post-bootcamp. She taught me how to apply to jobs effectively, how to do coding challenges, and how to interview. She does this through one-on-one weekly meetings, weekly coding challenge practice meetings, and mock interviews, along with job search coursework. A month after I completed the bootcamp, a dream company I applied to asked me to do a coding challenge for a Data Scientist role. The bootcamp had prepared me so well that I was fully confident in my submission. I got an interview, and then I was offered the job. Vivian even helped me negotiate my salary. I could NOT have gotten this before the bootcamp, so my new salary completely compensates for the cost of the bootcamp. NYCDSA was one of the best decisions I've made for myself and has set my career on a trajectory that I used to think was not even possible for me.
Student 2022
My son Daniel Rahman recently graduated with a Masters in Computer Science. He took a fewData Science courses during his Masters program. He loved it so much that he wanted to get a 2nd Masters in Data Science. That’s when he started researching about different Data Science programs that are more on project based learning. He compared it with many different programs and chose New York City Data Science Academy. They have the best curriculum that would fit his interest. He enrolled for a 6 month Data Science Bootcamp that covers a broad spectrum on Data Analytics and Machine Learning tools. It was an excellent online program. There were mentors always available and ready to help Daniel. I am Daniel’s advocate. I have noticed the NYCDSA tutor, mentors and even the head of the school Vivian Zhang took personal interest to see my son Daniel succeed. Now Daniel feels very comfortable with Python, R, SQL and Machine Learning. The course was very intense and covers lots of material within a few months. My son learned the practical aspect of project based work. I believe that attending the bootcamp, Daniel made the best decision. After 2 weeks of completion of his course, he was offered a job. I am grateful to the academy staff and head of the school Vivian Zhang for their unwavering support.

From the getgo this program sets you up to succeed. They can be a little critical and harsh sometimes, but I promise they want nothing more than for you to do the best you can. As long as you communicate your issues, they will work with you no matter what. I couldn't have asked for a more supportive team of instructors. They also have a dedicated lifelong team that helps you meet with and explore whatever professional options you'd like. They're also the only nationally accredited program like them in the country. Can't recommend enough.

I loved my time here at NYC Data Science Academy. I’ve been looking for a Data Scientist job at the time and I felt like I needed more knowledge than what I possessed at the time. I came across NYCDSA when browsing online and I went through the curriculum. The curriculum was filled with information on the different things that I would be learning and I found many of those were things present in job descriptions. I then realized that I would be able to learn everything that I need for a new job. The good thing was that there were office hours and mentors that I can speak with for any questions that I would have regarding a certain subject. The bad thing though is that since everything is online and there’s no longer any live lectures, there is less interaction with others as well as not being able to ask questions to the instructor since the lectures are pre recorded. Another issue I felt with this bootcamp is that it doesn’t go into too much detail regarding Time Series Forecasting, so there was no available mentor to tackle any questions me and my group had regarding our code for the capstone. I felt like I learned a lot from this bootcamp program overall. My favorite thing was being able to apply everything I learned in the program to projects and then presenting those projects because being able to present your findings is very important when it comes to Data Science as a whole. I currently have a Programming job, but I’m still looking to transfer into a Data Analytics/Data Science role. I just recently had an interview that I feel really good about, so I believe I am now more confident with my knowledge from the bootcamp.

I had a very pleasant experience with NYC Data Science Academy. It was a big investment that I believe was worth every penny. the curriculum is comprehensive enough to give you a good grasp of key ideas and resources so you can tailor your future path toward landing your desired career. The instructors and staff are very helpful and supportive. they never turn down any request for help. I found the job assistant very helpful and effective and believe that is the key, especially for people who want to switch gear to a new career path.
Graduate 2022
Coming from a traditional education background, I was skeptical about the usefulness of any boot camp for transitioning into the data science industry. In addition, the boot camp is pricey, making one think long and hard about joining, especially in the current economy. Thus it was a tough decision to attend NYC DSA, but so far, I'm glad that I did. I would say that there are three key advantages that NYC DSA has over its competitors: (i) The quality of the curriculum, (ii) Essentially unlimited access to dedicated mentors throughout the program and for the first few months after it, and (iii) Intimate knowledge of the NYC job market. The third point merits particular mention. Vivian has a large network in NYC, gets job postings from companies wanting to hire recent grads, and takes a personal interest in students' success after graduation. This was critical for me getting a job in the data science industry shortly after graduating. Yes, to do a full-time boot camp, you have to be able to put everything on hold for a few months and devote 60+ hours a week to working on projects you can put on your resume. If you are reading this, you probably love learning, though, so that part would not scare you. The financial aspect is significant, but if you've decided to go into data science in NYC, and you take time to reach your objective into consideration, it's probably one of the more cost-effective ways to make the change.
Graduate 2021
I joined NYC Data Science Academy's Data Science Bootcamp in May 2021 with a referral from my friend who is an alumni. his program gave me, a person who with business academic background, a great opportunity in comprehensively learning deeper in data science methodologies, analytics tools, and machine learning modelling, etc. Following the designed pace with online study, I was able to quickly ramp up with various topics, which involved with not only programming fundamentals, but also mathematics and statistics knowledge. The learning materials combine theoretical knowledge with realistic application in workplace so that I am able to relate them with hand-on experiences. The teaching style of lecturers are generally good and makes some complicated content easy to understand. I really enjoy discussing problems with NYCDSA's teaching assistants who were nice to help me. They were professional and competent. Any questions with regard to SQL, R, python, or machine learning can be figured out together with teachers or internal groups. However, I think the most valuable thing from the Bootcamp is not learning materials/lecturers/TA but the powerful career counseling support service after graduation. The school has been founded for over 10 years with strong career network resources and organized study plans for fellows. As soon as graduating from the data science Bootcamp, the career service officer will set up a series of supports including resume editing, mock interview, mentor coach, job post sharing, etc. The support is lifetime. Doubtlessly, applying for this Bootcamp can be a good choice if you have a career passion for data science but have limited spare time for yourself. I ended up getting a senior-level data scientist role in a top-tier consulting firm and really enjoy this experience with NYCDSA.

Having had experience with data analysis and programming separately, I wanted to tie the two skills together. I ended up discovering Data Science and decided to pursue the field. After some research, I discovered NYC Data Science Academy’s Part-Time bootcamp.
I originally picked NYCDSA because of its flexibility with its part-time online program and its coursework using R. Having read reviews online I was reassured that it was one of the most competitive programs, which was also a huge plus. I think the overall online experience was the best it could be. I do wish there was more of an opportunity to interact with classmates online, but I think ultimately the options were either to have the flexibility or to have in-person interactions and I chose the former. I think the Capstone really helped me to experience working on a Data Science project from start to finish and allowed for the desired collaboration with other students to complete the project. I think though that there could be more accountability even for online/part-time students as the coursework is not easy. I achieved my target goal of tying data analysis and programming together through this program and gained significant experience in Data Science through coursework and completing projects using live data. Not only that, but I learned when to use the appropriate tools, which is more important than just knowing the tools themselves. I ended up getting several Data Analyst offers once I really started looking for work and applying to jobs. If you have a goal and are willing to take the necessary steps to achieve them, this program can be worth your while.

NYC Data Science Academy's 12-week live full-time (remote) bootcamp helped me change careers from chemical engineering to data science in 6 months. I chose their program because they covered an extensive variety of data science tools and topics and seemed to emphasize how to become a data scientist more than simply how to code. There are resources available throughout the course to help improve coding skills but you will get the most out of the course if you spend time learning python, SQL, and basic stats fundamentals in advance. This is very much a course where what you get depends on how much effort your put in - on top of lectures they provide a ton of resources that you can investigate on your own time and practice by incorporating in homework and projects. Treat this like a job and expect to spend 40-60hrs/week. There is a robust 4-week post-bootcamp study plan with a lot of study prep tools as well. Their career counseling service is excellent as well!I'm very happy with my decision to attend NYC's program! The education and staff were excellent and the career/networking they provide is amazing - it helped me get a job just a few weeks after graduating!

NYC Data Science Academy's Data Science bootcamp is a great route to take for professional development. I picked NYC DSA as its flagship bootcamp covers not just python and SQL, but also R and machine learning, unlike some of the other programs I applied to. I came in with software engineering experience so it was important that a bootcamp focus on the areas I am unfamiliar with—statistics and machine learning. I learned a ton about the whole data science flow, from cleaning to feature engineering to visualization at NYC DSA.I learned to tell a story with data and analyze large datasets to gain insights. The instructors, my peers, and projects were all helpful in improving my skills. Most of all, I enjoyed learning various data visualization libraries and, in particular, creating map-based visualizations (see https://goutam.io/projects).I received three offers in a month after completing the bootcamp. I highly recommend NYC DSA for anyone looking to move into a data science and analytics role.
Graduate 2021
I graduated college with bachelor’s degrees in Computer Science and Statistics in December of 2019 and had difficulty finding a job after graduation. I decided to attend the NYCDSA with hopes of filling in some of the knowledge gaps I had in Data Science/Machine Learning and to find a platform that could provide me career support. I attended the 6-month part-time online bootcamp in February of 2021. I chose the NYCDSA after reading some of the projects that past students of the bootcamp completed and being very impressed with their work. After going through the course syllabus, I also found I would be learning a lot of new concepts and technologies I didn’t get a chance to learn as an undergrad. The bootcamp curriculum/coursework is very intensive. A lot of material is covered in a relatively short amount of time, but the NYCDSA provides many resources to help you along the way. There are video lectures, slides, and coding examples for all of the concepts covered and a plethora of people who are always willing to answer questions and provide help. I completed four projects at the bootcamp where I got to utilize and apply hands-on many of the technologies and concepts covered in lectures. For many of the projects, you are given the opportunity to pick a problem that you are passionate about solving and thus, the process of completing these projects is actually very fun and rewarding. The problem I chose to solve for my capstone project ended up being very similar to the types of problems encountered by the company I would later end up joining after completion of the bootcamp. Upon graduating the bootcamp, I received a full-time offer from a company for a Data Engineering position and a 6-month internship offer from another company for a Machine Learning Engineer position. I decided to pursue the 6-month internship opportunity due to location reasons and personal interests. At the end of the 6-month internship, I was fortunate enough to receive multiple offers, but ultimately ended up taking a Data Scientist/Engineering position that offered me everything I was looking for in terms of the type of problems I would be working on, salary, and work flexibility. Attending this bootcamp was one of the best decisions I’ve made and I’m so grateful for everyone at the NYCDSA for helping me along the way.
Graduate 2020
I came into the bootcamp with zero coding experience but a strong background in mathematics--I had been enrolled in a PhD program, but put it on hold for the bootcamp. I was looking to make a career change from the rather bleak academic job market, and NYCDSA definitely helped me achieve this. The instructors are great at explaining things and are clearly experts in the field. They offered great personalized advice, which for me amounted to building up my business intelligence skills, as I already had a pretty solid background in theory. This advice definitely served me well in the job interview process. The program was very demanding, and with the IDL format especially, you have to be comfortable pacing yourself and staying on top of things independently. I found the projects very fun and particularly valuable additions to my portfolio--companies I've interviewed with have been impressed by the caliber of the projects, so I would recommend really directing your energy towards going above and beyond on these. The job application process was particularly tough for me due to certain health issues I was facing, as well as having a part-time job as a math tutor following graduation from NYCDSA, but career services was extremely helpful. Vivian met with me one-on-one many times to help me with interview prep and I was eventually able to land a great career in an analytics consulting firm.
Graduate 2021
Having successfully completed the bootcamp and joined an awesome company as a data scientist, whose role includes machine learning engineering and software development, I solidly recommend NYCDSA.The time had come for me to leave IT for the land of data science and ML. Although I received a bachelors in CS, my utilization of that degree had been delayed up to that point. I chose NYCDSA for a couple of reasons: it was the top rated data science bootcamp, and after visiting their campus, sitting in one of the classes, and speaking with instructors, TAs, and students, the hype seemed real. Instead of jumping right in I deferred my admission several times. Initially for further self-study, then due to the in person class being moved online because of COVID and me being a poor remote learner. When it became clear that the move online would not be reversed anytime soon, I decided to enroll. Although the material was highly concentrated, the first month went well. I was learning. Excelling, even. Then things went south. The effects of late disseminated Lyme disease halted my progression. What I most appreciate about the academy is its response to my sickness. Allowing me to step away for treatment and return at a slower, self-paced speed was greatly appreciated. I do not see how I could have graduated otherwise.
Neither is the cost of the bootcamp, nor is the workload, trivial by any means, so I think you should be certain that you want to make this move. Whether it’s learning skills, advancing or changing careers, or something else entirely, the reason for enrolling should be clear. You should want it. If the “why” is supplied on your end, you can count on the academy to supply the instruction, instructors, mentorship, and various other forms of support to aid you in your journey.
