I very much enjoyed my experience in the full time Data Science with Machine Learning Bootcamp at NYC Data Science Academy. The bootcamp provides you with an excellent foundation in Python, R and SQL through hands on and practical experience. It also provides you with strong theoretical knowledge on more advanced topics such as deep learning and AI. The staff was incredibly accommodating and invested in my success. After completing the bootcamp, I received two offers from my top choice companies resulting in an increase in compensation that more than justified the cost of the bootcamp.

For a person with several years of experience in telecom and software, NYC Data Science laid the foundations on how to think of data science as not just a science but also an art. The data science bootcamp builds on a strong foundation of statistical concepts, spiral teaching techniques, hands-on experience of the teachers and a lot of coding practice. The program is grueling and one should be prepared to put in the time needed to absorb all that the program offers. I picked NYC Data science over other bootcamps after doing a thorough analysis of what was covered in each program. NYC Data Science was the only program that taught two languages, R and Python and seemed to have a strong career support program. NYC Data Science’s strong job placement program helped me find a job as a data scientist within two weeks of graduation. My overall experience with the program was very positive and I would recommend that any prospective student ask the admissions staff to put them in touch with an alumni that has a similar background to their own.

I am an unlikely Data Scientist as my background is in derivative trading and data platform sales. For many years, I did not consider myself technical at all. As time progressed, it became clear to me that the world was passing me by and I decided to take action. I entered NYDSA with a rudimentary knowledge of coding consisting of only a few Udemy courses. It was one of the most intimidating experiences of my life, as many of my classmates were already accomplished data professionals. I was relieved to find both students and instructors extremely patient and supportive of my difficult journey. All of the course material was laid out in a logical and effective manner. The content goes into a minute level of detail, while also allowing for a clear high level view. The instructors are remarkably passionate regarding their various expertise which makes their lectures easy to listen to. The head of the school, Vivian Zhang is intimately involved with the students throughout the process and shows a genuine interest in their success. I am now working on a major project at a Fortune 50 financial institution and couldn't be happier. Last year, I would not have believed such a transition to be possible. It was one of the most difficult and rewarding experiences of my life. I made the transition from an AI novice tossing buzzwords around, to building a machine learning project from the ground up in three months. The level of technical proficiency you walk away with will leave you prepared for any data science job on the market. I highly recommend NYCDSA for anyone looking to advance their knowledge in the technology shaping our future.

I wanted to make a successful pivot to a data science career. I began my journey by doing some self-learning through many online resources. Finally, to give structure to my learning, I enrolled in the Fall session of 2020 at NYC Data Science Academy. It was a Remote-Live Instruction session. I had researched a few data science Bootcamps before joining NYC Data Science Academy. I would say that I made the right decision. Keep in mind, the program is an intensive, fast-paced learning experience. In order to do well in this Bootcamp, one thing I would like to emphasize is that before the class, preview your text and the homework assignments. This will prepare your brain to absorb the materials. Review the material and the notes after the class to fill in any gaps you didn’t catch in class. The program was led by instructors who are experts in their fields and were patient and helpful. The TAs were extremely supportive and willing to help you. I gave career support 3.0 stars as they lack the assistance for students living in cities other than New York or the Bay area or students who are pivoting their career. The program gives you access to mentors. Since I took this course during the pandemic, there were no interactions with like-minded people. The curriculum was designed to enhance their student’s skills and stay competitive in the job market. It taught the core proficiencies using Python and R with a focus on real-world applications. The curriculum also introduced SQL, which is the most important job skill employers look for in candidates for employment. By the end of the program, I had gained enough confidence in my abilities to start my career in the field of data.

I remembered a year ago going from websites to websites, reading reviews after reviews, looking for the best school for Data Science Bootcamp. I finally stopped at NYC Data Science Academy and one of the main reasons I decided to go with NYC was because I was going to have the ability to learn R and python. After completing the actual bootcamp, I will say that the above reason ended up being the last if I were to make the decision again.
Here are my best reason why NYC is a great school:
1- Class organization: The entire program is well-organized so students have a full idea of what to expect from day one. The bootcamp preparation material helps students get up to speed with general statistics, algebra, and programming before the beginning of the program. Once the program starts, these topics will be reinforced before moving to Hardcore machine learning.
2- Instructors: Most of the instructors I had the chance to work with are PhD holders or professionals with several years of industry experience. So when they dispense their classes, they have both theoretical and practical understanding of the material. On top of this, they are extremely patient with students and will go above and beyond to make sure students do not fall behind. One instructor,Thomas Laesch, designed a matrix multiplication game every Saturday for one month just to help us build the reflex of solving matrix multiplication(this is very important in understanding most ML models).
3- Job search and interview preparation: This is actually my favorite part. The support I received for job search and interview preparation was immense. As I am writing this review, one year after my class, NYC faculties are still helping me with career counseling and responding to background questionnaires from my employer.
4- Last but not least I did learn Python and R. Moreover, the knowledge I acquired from this institution has helped me so much in my Data Scientist Career. Even today, I still use my class material as reference for many issues I encounter on the job.
In short, choosing this program was one of the best decisions I made for my education and career. I will strongly recommend this program to anyone looking for a Data Science/Data Engineering bootcamp, if anyone would like to know more about my experience feel free to search me on LinkedIn and I will be happy to answer any questions that I can.

I joined NYC Data Science Academy this summer to help me make a career transition from Material Science Engineering into Data Science, and in short, it worked! I increased my salary, easily making the Bootcamp worth it as a purely financial decision, and am starting to work in a new exciting field. I chose them over others because I was impressed with their instructors and they offer continuous career support after graduating. I was not disappointed. Their instructors are passionate and knowledgeable and seem to genuinely care about teaching and helping their students. After graduating I had two internships directly from relationships and connections I made at the Bootcamp and had many interviews from the same network. Their career services have always been available, helping me with my resume and acting as a soundboard to help prep for interviews. I only recommend getting into Data Science if you love math and coding. If you do and are willing to put in the work NYC Data Science Academy will prepare you for and help you get a job.

In trying to enter the Data Science field, I came to the conclusion that the bootcamp route was my goldilocks option, somewhere between self-teaching (low cost/commitment) and a master’s degree (high cost/commitment). If you come to the same conclusion, I couldn't imagine a better bootcamp experience than NYCDSA.Curriculum: Comprehensive and (more importantly) realistic. NYCDSA focuses on building a strong DS foundation. So instead of becoming a superficial expert on the most complicated buzz-word models, you become a solid expert on DS foundations with experience applying those foundations to projects. This turned out to be hugely important, as many of my DS job interviews focused on fundamental ML concepts, and I could give in-depth answers.Faculty: Top notch. The instructors are experts with years of experience, and they're skilled at breaking down complex topics. This allows them to work with both beginners and advanced students. Further, they're incredibly supportive, and always available to answer questions and help with projects. For me, that alone made the investment worth it - to have experts available to help work through your questions, instead of banging your head against the wall trying to figure it out yourself.Job Support: The Covid job market is tough, but the NYCDSA team does what they can to help. They made introductions/recommendations, hosted events, helped prep for interviews, and met with me many times for career services. Of course, at the end of the day, you’ve got to get the job… but they’re on your side every step of the way.The only issue I have with the bootcamp route is that going in, there’s often this “do a bootcamp, get a job” misconception. More realistically, it’s “do a bootcamp, then study for a few months independently, then commit yourself to interview prep and job hunting, then get a job.” As long as you’re ready for the work, the bootcamp can be a perfect first step. For me, NYCDSA and the self-led study that followed provided the very necessary foundation of my DS career.

I have a philosophy degree and was working as a data analyst, but I was interested in taking my career in a more technical direction. NYC Data Science academy provided me with all of the tools to become proficient as a Data Scientist. Their 3-month program gives students a unique opportunity to gain a deep conceptual understanding of the field as well as exposure to real-world projects. No other program provides this level of immersion in the field. The projects are real data science projects that you would work on as a professional data scientist and provide you with an impressive portfolio. It really comes down to the people at NYCDSA from the instructors to career services and the alumni network. They are all ready to make a significant investment in you and your career as a data scientist. I loved learning from my instructors and from my peers. I truly feel like I am part of a community. Even in difficult economic times, you are put into a great position to launch a career as a Data Scientist. You need to be willing to invest a lot of time, but the investment pays off!

NYCDSA went above and beyond to make sure that their students had a stellar bootcamp experience despite being in the midst of a global pandemic. Having a "live online" model meant that we were all taking classes remotely, but that instructors were giving their lectures live through zoom and using screen sharing to share lecture notes, slides, and example code. Instructors and TAs were very readily available digitally, and made sure to make themselves available to teach and answer questions at almost all hours of the day. Aside from the impressive response to COVID, overall the curriculum was very involved - a difficult but worthwhile challenge for both beginners and experts alike! The coursework is designed to push you and involve real-world datasets as examples in your analysis, and projects give you a real sense of how to approach data analysis in an intelligent way. This a great place to learn!

I attended the 12-week Data Science Bootcamp in May 2020 and gained a great deal from the experience. I came in with a background in mathematics, but with limited experience programming in Python. By the end of the bootcamp I was very comfortable using Python to work with data and run machine-learning analyses such as Random Forests and Gradient Boosting. What I thought was exceptional about the course was the quality of the instructors. These ranged from mathematicians with a distinguished track record in academia, to hands-on software engineers with experience working with complex systems. In all cases the instructors were encouraging and generous with their time. The bootcamp has an extensive pre-work section and I'd advise any attendees to complete this thoroughly. 12 weeks is a short time to cover the amount of material that's on the curriculum, so building basic coding skills before the start will be very beneficial.All-in-all I felt the bootcamp delivered exactly the skills that I was looking to build. I'd recommend it highly to anybody who wants a serious foundation in the subject.

I did some research on data science online (Course report and switchup) before I made a decision. I chose NYCDSA because they covered both Python and R, their instructors are knowledgeable and professional, and comprehensive curriculum. Especially I have to use both R and Python in my work, so I think knowing both languages will open more opportunities when looking for a job.
NYC Data Science Academy did a great job of helping me acquire the necessary skills in Data Science before, during, and after the bootcamp. The pre-bootcamp materials helped me get familiar with the essential R/Python coding skills and speeded up the learning curve during the bootcamp. I highly recommend whoever wants to join a bootcamp should get prepare before the bootcamp, and NYCDSA does a great job in providing necessary materials in R/Python coding.
During the bootcamp, the course work is very intensive. Although I already have coding experience and mathematical background, I still need to spend at least 12 hrs a day to study and finish homework and projects. However, the instructors and TAs are doing their best to ensure everyone can get the most out of the courses. As a remote student, I can't meet them in person, and they are still very responsive through messages or video meetings. During the bootcamp, I finished four projects to showcase my skills. One of them is solving the real business problem from the company, which is valuable when I was looking for a job. The academy also teaches you how to express your projects during the interview.
They have a robust professional network and hold a hiring event one week after each cohort. You will have the opportunity to expand your network and show your skills to various companies that are looking for data scientists or data analysts. They also dedicated to supporting you find a great job. Vivian did a fantastic job helping me with my interview processes and giving me valuable feedback.
Overall, I have a very positive experience with NYCDSA. I was suspicious if a bootcamp can make me transit into a data scientist when I looked for a data scientist bootcamp. However, I found a great job a month after I finished the bootcamp. This program is worth the hard work I put. I am glad that I made this decision a half year ago.

NYCDSA was referred to me by professionals in the industry. I chose the remote bootcamp and learned a vast amount of topics including SQL, R, Python, and Hadoop & Spark. During my studies, I published 4 blog posts of project work ranging from a visual analysis of the American Music Awards to predicting housing prices. I had an assigned TA who I met with weekly to discuss my courses and homework, which was very helpful. Interview prep was also a great asset to the program. Upon graduating I received a grad package with a NY State Board of Education certificate included. I received a job offer within a month of graduating as a Growth Analyst.
