I recently finished the six-month Linux for jobs program and earned the RHCSA cert. It's been a lot of time between the live classes and studying. Without the support from instructors, and my cohort it would not have been possible. I had the privilege to go through this program with likeminded individuals who all had one goal. It was overall a very good experience in terms of education and preparation to break into tech.

I previously worked in the Department of Defense and I’m ex-military, so transitioning into tech was a huge leap for me. What sold me was their approach: the instructors are industry professionals who genuinely know their stuff, and that internship program really stood out.I came into this with no tech background, but they’ve been so patient and thorough.  My experience with Yellow Tail Tech has been wonderful, truly, no complaints. The support has been incredible, and I’ve learned so much. It’s crazy how fast time flew by because we were so busy, but it was an amazing journey. I’m really glad I took this step. Moving into the tech field is helping me achieve a better worklife balance, which was my main goal. I love learning new things, and in tech, you're constantly learning. They’re always there for us, whether through Messenger or extra Zoom meetings. The networking class was awesome, I never thought I’d be interested in networking, but I really enjoyed it. Ricky, my instructor, broke everything down in a way that you can understand.I’m just getting started with the apprenticeship, and it’s so far, so good. I’m working on tickets now, and I think the apprenticeship will allow us to gain access to more tools and improve our troubleshooting skills. It’s not the same as the training, it’s a huge learning curve, but I’m ready for it.Yellow Tail Tech has been an incredibly positive experience, and I’m excited to continue growing in the tech field.

Our class sessions took place twice a week, getting us in the world of Linux. The class days were a mix of individual review and collaborative exploration with our incredible cohort and classmates. This IT Training program spanned eight months of intense learning, followed by an apprenticeship that added to our experience. In total, it amounted to about year of personal and professional growth. Even after completing the program, I continue to stay connected with my Yellow Tail Tech family. 

The Linux for Job program I joined has been fantastic, especially because of my classmates. From the start, everyone has been friendly and welcoming. The instructors and students make learning fun by adding humor, which keeps us engaged and laughing. This approach has brought us closer, like a team on a journey to becoming IT experts. It's exciting to see people becoming tech fans because of the interesting lessons and hands-on labs. Working with classmates on projects has been fun and helpful for learning.
