The Fullstack course is a great way to get started with web development. It has a very comprehensive curriculum, along with a series of exercises that will help you understand and learn how to apply the concepts. You start by learning html, css, js, react, then ruby and rails, and finally they will teach you how to combine everything to build full stack applications. The course is designed for beginners, but it is also suitable for people with prior knowledge. I had taken a few online courses before and I found this course to be more in depth. If you are learning full-time, you can finish the whole course in 4-5 months, then you will be able to start working on your own projects, or apply to jobs.

Great program that covers the majority of topics in web development. The curriculum is clear and well structured, and there are a lot of hands-on assignments and projects. The instructors are very knowledgeable and helpful. I have learned a lot and feel very confident that I have a good grasp of the material. I have also been able to use the new skills in my job. I am very happy with the program and I would recommend this program to anyone who wants to learn web development.

Overall the program is very good, well worth the price. It is divided into 5 portions, frontend, backend, fullstack, portfolio building, and computer science fundamentals. There is also a career course to help you prepare for job applications and interviews. The transition from one course to another is very smooth. Concepts are well explained with examples and analogies. If you need help, you can contact a mentor. They are very good at finding out where you are stuck, and are very patient. To succeed, you are expected to put in a lot of work, somewhere between 40-50 hours a week if you can study full time. I would recommend this program to anyone who wants to learn web development. It is a great way to get into the field of web development and get a job. I am currently working as a junior frontend developer after completing the program.

Initially the exceptionally low price compared to other online schools made me hesitant as I thought it's too good to be true. But after reading many reviews, going through their website thoroughly and completing their free coding 101 course gave me enough confidence to sign up. The coding 101 course lets you see their learning platform and their content style, you should do it if you are considering. For the program, you will be studying on your own, but your homework is marked by an instructor and there is a slack channel where you can ask questions. The mentors respond fairly quickly and professionaly. The content is almost all text and images. Occasionally there are videos for harder topics, which is a nice change. The strength of this program lies in the exercises and projects. I learned the most from completing projects. They start with cloning just the frontend of famous sites. Then move on to building various frontend apps with JavaScript, jquery, and react. Then api backends with rails, and finally fullstack projects including an airbnb clone. Projects are very hard and I had to refer back to the curriculum often. But I learned a lot. I am now working on my portfolio project and after this I will go through their career course and start looking for a job. This journey has been nearly 8 months and I woudn't have believed that I could have learned so much if someone told me then. I am very grateful for my mentors who are so kind and helpful, they kept me going. This is a hidden gem, people who took it will certainly agree.

My experience with Altcademy has been nothing but exceptional. The program will give you a head to toe anatomy of web development. You will learn enough to fend for yourself in the future. The content is written with beginners in mind. Concepts are explained in clean, concise manners. Exercises and projects are there to reinforce your learning. You can contact a mentor when you get stuck, they are seasoned engineers and will resolve your issues very quickly. By graduation, you would have completed a dozen projects, and a custom capstone portfolio project. They will review your resume, linkedin profile, and give you tips on job search, but no career services is provided. Take this course, you won't regret it.A word of advice for beginners. Programming is hard, really hard, and anyone who tells you that you can go from zero to hero in three months is not being completely honest. The truth is learning web development up to a decent junior level competency from no prior knowledge is going to take at least eight to ten months, and you are just scratching the surface. This is not discouragement though, hard things can be very rewarding, both financially and mentally. Learning how to code definitely helped me become a clearer thinker. You know that feeling of brain fog? After a month of coding, I never had that feeling again. Everything is crisp, sharp, suddenly I see the world in ultra high def. It's a wonderful sensation.

I have been learning to code for a while before I joined Altcademy, my criteria for selecting a program is online, flexible schedule, mentorship, affordability. If you tried to learn to code before, you know there isn't a lack of free or extremely cheap material. But what you get for free, will usually lack structure, quality, and mentorship. Altcademy hits all the right spots, at a reasonable price point. The curriculum is text based, easy to follow, and code along. There are hundreds of exercises to practice on their platform. Projects are marked by experienced mentors and useful feedbacks is given. There is a slack channel and a q&a platform to get help from. Other students are friendly, and conversations, though sparse, are usually about coding and course content. This has been a wonderful experience, and I would like to specifically thank my mentors David and Harry for their patience and guidance.

Altcademy is amazing! I've just completed the first two courses of the fullstack program and it was incredible. Their curriculum style is easy to learn and the assignments are very challenging. I always thought that coding would be too hard for me, but now I know I can do it as long as I put in the time. My mentor is helpful and knowledgable, feedbacks on my assignments are very useful and in depth. Highly recommend their programs.

This program is quite different from other bootcamps as it spends a longer time on html and css. This is a big plus because you learn how to build user interfaces that are clean and good looking very quickly. Concepts covered in JavaScript, DOM, React, Ruby, and Rails are equally in depth. You finish with a strong understanding of MVC, and CRUD APIs, from building a handful of full-stack applications, plus dozens of frontend/backend projects. The curriculum structure is very smooth, instructions and explanations are written in simple english and easy to understand. If you ever need additional help, you can be in direct contact with a mentor through slack or zoom meetings. Last but not least, the price is very affordable as well.

I work as a PM and my company was kind enough to sponsor this course. My primary reason for learning web dev is to have better understanding of the technical side of things. This benefits me greatly since I can now estimate project turnaround times much more realistically and communications with engineers improved. Besides, building fullstack web apps from scratch is really fun and challenging. If you work in web based tech companies and want better understanding of how things work, this course is highly recommended.

My path : Full stack Web Development option Immersive Path ( without career guidance and portfolio building)My Background: Used C++ at uni, Python(Flask). Math major uni. Love tech and things related to the web. My Experience : - Price : Affordable, while working i could've go for a more expensive bootcamp I decided that since you can learn everything that bootcamp offer for free a cheaper price would be better. it's either cheap or free, except for the alumni network expensive bootcamp aren't worth your money in terms of curriculum. You can pay monthly and have 2 different option a cheaper one without the career guidance. If you're not sure about how to land the job and build your portfolio I recommend you to take the personalized path. Altcademy mix a good pricing and an overall very good program so why spending more when you can have it for cheaper. - Curriculum: Full stack Web Development is composed of different modules from html,CSS, Vanilla JS, JQuery, React, Ruby, Ruby on Rails, Full stack Rails + React.Plenty of exercises and assignments to do. Nothing fancy but it's solid and well written with clear explanations. The curriculum is overall well updated but Hooks are missing for the React part. You'll learn to build stuff from scratch and it's very rewarding. The big advantages of a curriculum is that you simply have to follow it without thinking what to learn next. Each topics are brought in a very gentle manners till you have enough knowledge to understand what you are doing. I found great that you spent some time with vanilla JS and JQuery before to jump directly to React. The assignments are all very cool to do and bring you definitely some knowledge and new skills.Even I'm not a fan of Ruby the advantage to learn Rails is that you'll grasp how the MVC pattern works so you can jump to another framework without much difficulties. - Mentors/Social: Since I picked the option without the mentoring face to face I had less interactions with the mentors. Both are knowledgeable, kind and will help you during your studies and assignments. Altcademy use Slack with different channels depending the topic. It's not very active and there isn't many exchange between students but it's mostly due to the students who aren't talkative. Mentors are reactive and will always reply in a short amount of time. Since it's online you'll be alone at home but they can motivate you. The hardest part for some peoples is the feeling to feel lonely when doing remote programs but you'll always get their help very fast and with good explanations. - Job Support: Since I don't have the option for that I can't review it but you'll be in good hands for sure ! - Interface/UI: Simple, clean. Very easy to navigate in your program. That's the job of an UI, I like it a lot!Overview: An affordable bootcamp with flexible learning(remote), a solid curriculum, good mentors. If you decide to go through a bootcamp you won't be mistaken. Before to choose Altcademy I was in another bootcamp which I left, so I can confidently say that Altcademy is a good investment.

My experience with Altcademy was amazing. I did a lot of research before signing up and consulted friends who are software engineers. We all came to the conclusion that Altcademy's fullstack program is the best amongst its peers. In terms of value for money, and in terms of curriculum comprehensiveness, no one could beat them. The program is very packed, thousand of hours of curriculum material, hundreds of exercises, and a couple dozen assignments. I came out with 6 decent looking projects and a final project which I am very proud of. The mentors are amazing people, very helpful and very knowledgable. This is something I would recommend to family and friends without a second thought. Don't take my word for it, do some research and you will see what I mean.

My friend went through their fullstack program a couple years ago and she recommended me to join as I want to learn some web development to complement my current skillset as a UI designer. This is really a hidden gem. The content is top notch. The instructors really know their stuff. The students are smart and supportive.

I started the program in Mar 2020 after I lost my job working for an airline. Well I thought might as well take this chance to make a change. 11 months later, I am finishing up and applying to jobs. A few things I want to share regarding coding bootcamps and making a career switch. 1. It takes a lot of time to learn the fundamentals and feel confident enough to start applying to jobs. For me, it was 11 months, at 40-50 hours a week. I did take a month off in the middle where I was only doing around 10 hours a week.2. Do your own due diligence, spend time to research different bootcamps. I chose Altcademy because they are online, and they are super cheap. I asked the bootcamps to send me their curriculum and I realized everyone pretty much teaches the same thing. So your decision is dependent on whether you think the bootcamp can deliver their promise.3. Join a program with good mentors. I was lucky my mentor at Altcademy was also the person who wrote the course content. He knew everything.4. Start looking at jobs early in the program and have a plan. If you live in an area with very little tech jobs, you need to think hard and long whether you are willing to move somewhere to get a job. You can also apply for remote jobs, but working alone at home isn't for everyone.5. Have realistic expectations. There is no guarantee for anything.
Graduate 2020
If you already have some knowledge of simple website building, you can finish the course in 6 months. The curriculum paints the whole picture of web development. All the details of frontend and backend development is covered. You build 20+ projects throughout the course. The mentors are very knowledgeable and patient. All your projects will be reviewed and given feedback. The quality is on par with other major bootcamps, but these guys are only charging a fraction of the price. It's a no brainer.
Graduate 2020
Before joining this program, I had zero experience in programming. I knew I would need quite a bit of support from a professional so I chose the personalized package with live office hours. All in all, I was very happy with what I got. My mentor was always patient and had a knack for explaining complex concepts in plain english. It took me nearly a year to finish the whole program. It was all worth it though since I managed to land an internship at a local startup which turned into a fulltime job. The salary is not super high but since the cost of the bootcamp is very low, I am happy with the outcome. If you are thinking of signing up, you should know the curriculum is 100% text based, if you prefer videos, this is not for you. Also learning on your own without peers can be tough at times. You need to be mentally prepared.
Graduate 2020
I really liked the program, it provides structure and flexibility at the same time. I was able to learn as much as I have time for. The curriculum teaches you all the finer details of web development, such as setting up your computer for local development which can be quite daunting for beginners. When I needed help, I got great support from my mentor through slack and live office hours. This is very important as it kept me going when I got stuck in a rut a few times. I still can't believe they are able to offer so much at the price they are charging.

I am using this program as part of my wider syllabus to learn web development. Altcademy's course is the only component that is paid. The rest of my syllabus consists of free materials and courses you can find online. The reason I decided to include a paid program like Altcademy is because I want to have a dedicated mentor that can help me. Altcademy's mentor support provides this at a reasonable price. The program itself is pretty good. The curriculum is well thought out and builds up logically. However as with most paid programs, it is not able to cover all the details. And that is why I am using other resources to drill down more.If you have no experience with programming at all, this is a good program to get you started on the right foot.
Student 2020
This is my 4th month into the full-stack program and I am currently at the end of the dynamic web development course which teaches you how to build interactive front-ends with HTML and JavaScript. I have to build a simple game to complete this course. The program provides lots of handson experience through exercises and projects. I have built at least 10 websites by now. Some of them are following tutorials and some of them are built completely on my own according to assignment goals. I got detailed feedback on all my assignments for bugs and improvements. This is a really good learning experience and good for building up confidence. There is a mentor that you can contact for help and guidance, this is very useful and worth every penny.I don't have much to complain about the program really. But one thing I would mention is that I found it hard to stay focused early on, since you are always learning on your own. It took me at least a good two weeks to find my rymthm. So if you are thinking of signing up, you need to make sure you can learn in solitude, and have a study plan. My advice is that you need to be able to dedicate fixed timeslots on 3 to 4 days a week for studying and build a habit.
Student 2020
The reason I chose Altcademy is because they are cheap. Cheap compared to most bootcamps. The main concern I had before I made a decision to enrol is whether I will be learning less things due to the price difference. After some research, I realised most web development bootcamp's syllabus are very similar, the frontend is almost always the same: HTML, CSS, JS, React/Angular/Vue. The backend is either Node or Rails. And they all have some CS data structure and algorithms. So there is not much difference in the topics that you will learn whether it's a 15k program or a 1k program. As for the learning experience, I would say I am happy for what I paid for. The program is self paced, but they do give you a study schedule to help you plan. There isn't any hand holding, but there is definitely a lot of hands on experience with assignments and projects. There is a chatroom where you can discuss with other students. My mentors are experienced enough to answer most of my questions and they seem qualified based on their linkedin profile.I think the most valuable thing this program offers is the mentorship support. Having a dedicated person who you can go to for help makes learning much easier. I can't really compare the experience with the more expensive bootcamps because I don't know what they are like. But if you are not able to shell out 10k or more, my guess is this could be a good alternative.

Coding isn't easy to learn and I can tell they tried their best to make the process less daunting. The mentoring is what keeps me going. Without my mentor's help, I probably would have given up in the first month. The learning platform is easy to use. It has a calendar schedule to help you keep pace. There is progress tracking and email updates. The questions bank has a lot of resources and is my first goto place when I run into issues. This is actually my third attempt trying to learn coding. I enrolled in two other online schools before. The first time I gave up because I was lazy and not motivated enough. The second time I was not absorbing the content well, it was a video based curriculum, so I dropped out after two weeks. This time I feel like I will be able to get through as everything seems to be falling in place. I find that I can retain a lot more information with text based content and my mentor's support makes a huge difference.P.S. I didn't sign up for the personalized option that comes with office hours. So far I feel getting help from chat and the Q&A portal is enough for my needs.
