This course teaches you everything that you need to become a full stack web developer including JavaScript, Python, React, Django, PostgreSQL, and much more. By the end of this you will walk away knowing how to develop a fully operational website and have a base of knowledge with the tools necessary to expand that knowledge. Their workshops are very useful and information dense. The presentations are very resourceful and will help answer any questions that you may have about the industry or anything coding related. The instructors are very understanding if you have anything occur that may distract you from participating, but it is up to you to catch up. They also go above and beyond teaching you how to be a developer. In addition, they provide you the assistance you need to become a developer, such as a résumé coach and career services. I would highly recommend this course to any veteran who wants to work as a developer. And for those who are considering, it is a challenging and demanding grind, but the instructors are there to help you every step of the way, and the reward that you get from completing this are more than worth it. This is honestly one of the greatest decisions that I have ever personally made, and I am sure that anyone that takes this course will feel no different.

Code Platoon was an excellent experience. They do a great job training students of all skill levels and I felt fully supported the entire time!
Graduate 2021
Code Platoon was an amazing experience that has given me the foundations to be successful in the tech field. Not only is the program itself enriching and challenging, but they also offer an employment assistance program after you graduate; which is how I was able to find a job in development in as little as 4 months.

There is nothing more to say other than my title really. Unbelievable amount of resources, staff is top notch, they have remote learning down to a science, and a dedicated alumni network that is very active. Even though it could be extremely challenging/frustrating, the feeling of successfully solving a problem or having a concept finally click outweighs the frustration a hundred times over. There were a ridiculous amount of TA's (former students, industry professionals, and child prodigies [literally, we had a 17 year old TA that might have been the smartest human being I have ever met in my life]), you can sign up to have a mentor, and the instructors are also top notch. While you can feel overwhelmed, there is always someone to help out and everyone made it an extremely fun learning environment. I cannot say enough about the course, truly one of a kind!

Everyone from the staff, instructors, the admin team and the students body is absolutely professional and friendly. Because every student in the community shares the same military background there is a seamless connection and made it a lot easier to collaborate with every one. The bootcamp is by no means an easy one, you really have to be studying on your own time after class and prepare to give up some leisure time. But the instructors team and the TAs are always there to be ready to help you.

My journey into professional software development started as I was transitioning from an Active Duty service member into a Navy Veteran. I came across the VET TEC program on the Veterans Affairs Education website. The VET TEC education courses are helpful for Veterans and Spouses that would like to transition and advance into the high-technology industry. The goal is to match up Veterans with a leading training provider to help develop those high-tech skills to quickly be placed in a high-paying tech job.The program has a long list of approved providers. As I scanned through all of the providers, the one that stuck out most was Code Platoon's Full-Stack Software Engineering Bootcamp. It was a program that focused on giving Veterans the tools they need to succeed as a Full-Stack Software Engineer. Additionally, it's located in Chicago, near the same place every Navy Saylor starts their career at the Navy Boot Camp Recruit Training. Initially, my experience with Code Platoon started with the administration process. You begin by filling out some forms about your background. You provide some videos of yourself answering some interview-like questions. Finally, you're given some resources and some coding challenges to complete. Once you've completed that process and have done everything correctly, you'll be approved to start in the cohort of your choosing. I was a part of the PAPA platoon cohort, which officially started OCT 2021 and ended JAN 2022. Before the cohort starts, you are required to complete some prework. It's about four weeks of self-paced learning to get you prepared. The initial prework documentation outlined expectations, resources for help, and all the tools needed to set you up to be successful in the Boot Camp. At the end of the prework, you're given a live coding challenge with one of the instructors to ensure that you completed the prework and retained the information. Now, the actual course can be pretty intense and fast-paced. Each week will become increasingly more difficult. You will need to show up five days a week on time, ready to learn. Every day starts with a live online workshop teaching new programing or career-building concepts. In the second half of the day, you will be applying those newly learned skills on your own or paired with other students in a paired programming environment. If you get stuck, you have access to a group of very skilled and knowledgeable instructors and TA's that will quickly help you out. Their goal is not to give you the answer but to help you develop the skills to find the answer. Each week you'll focus on learning JavaScript, Python, Django, SQL, React, Data Structures, Algorithms, Version Control, Paired programming, Career building, and much, much more. Overall, the Code Platoon Boot Camp will give any Veteran willing to learn all the tools needed to succeed in the Software Development space.

Code Platoon is a self paced program that delivers on its promise. It is a rigorous, fast paced, challenging program that is meant to prepare graduates for a career as a full stack software developer. The instructors lay out expectations early and give ample feedback on your progress. The remote community that they foster is second to none. It was amazing to see that as a student I never felt alone. Any time of the day if I asked a question, there was an instructor, teacher assistant, or fellow student that was willing to help. The curriculum is amazing. They are very focused on making each iteration better than the last and are very receptive to feedback.

I was impressed with how this school handled remote learning. They were flexible with my time - so when my kid had some issues at school, I was able to deal with that and then get back to class. I loved being able to work as part of a team with other students. The students in class with me were other individuals who were extremely motivated to be there, and really made the experience shine. The teaching assistants were amazing. We ALWAYS had someone to ask a question to. The alumni so far are great - anyone I reach out to replies within a few hours to connect.I feel more prepared now to get a job than ever.

Could not recommend more! I went from knowing basic Python and JavaScript to being able to create a full stack web application in a matter of less than four months, growing in so many ways. Throughout the course the instructors and staff ensure that students are consistently in the "stretch zone," where we are challenged but not overloaded. The patience, knowledge, and willingness to make us better engineers and people is what sets apart Code Platoon from many other organizations, and what made the experience so worthwhile. Expect to work very hard, increase your hard and soft skills, and make new teammates that all share the military as a common background. I cannot say enough good things about Code Platoon, Rod, Tom, Ankur, Jon, and the rest of the staff there.
Student 2022
this bootcamp was rigorous and challenging for sure. but the class is organized in a very structured way to the point you are rarely confused where the class is at or what's coming up. the instructors and TA's were extremely helpful and understanding of the students. overall, i feel miles more confident at my software development and problem-solving skills than when i went in.
Graduate 2021
14 weeks of instruction in JavaScript, Python, OOP, Django, React, PostgreSQL, & HTML / CSS. Instructors, TA's, and mentors REALLY go above and beyond to help you understand the material. There's also career coaching, resume coaching, plenty of networking opportunities, etc. The resources are truly endless, if you have a desire to learn. On top of that, the available internship program is top notch. I really can't say enough good things about this school. Thank you, Rod, and everyone for making Code Platoon happen!!
Graduate 2021
Overall the program was very smooth and comprehensive. I felt like the instructors were there with the desire to see me succeed. I have also been connected to a network that will help with the job search.
Graduate 2021
My experience at Code Platoon was challenging as well as one of the most rewarding things that I've ever done. I started the 14 week course with no prior college, or coding/tech experience. I graduated from the full-time full stack software engineering course on May 14th, 2021. It was a very fast-paced, immersive program. I started with pre-work after being accepted into the program and that's where I learned JavaScript and algorithmic programming, so take the pre-work seriously and really focus on learning the syntax/basics, because we took of at a sprint on the first day. I am confident in saying that I feel nervous, but prepared to enter the workforce as an entry-level full stack software engineer. I'm confident in my newfound skills, but still have a lot to learn. The instructors are amazing and will do everything they can to help you succeed as long as you put in the time and effort. Your success really does depend on you and how hard you're willing to work for it. Along with the instructors, Code Platoon has some amazing TA's and mentors available for both moral support and help with technical skills. One of the things I really appreciate about Code Platoon is that they aren't just focused on teaching you to code, but they also want to help you thrive in your new career. They have what are called "Beyond Tech Lectures" that I have personally benefited from greatly, to talk about and offer resources for a host of helpful topics ranging from mental health to negotiating your salary at that first job. One of the things I think I beenfitted from the most was the interview prep and networking help that includes: mock interviews with volunteers from companies like Google, creating and building a professional LinkedIn account and resume coaches to help create and improve your resume. Code Platoon also offers career services to help you find a job even after you graduate and I've found these services extremely helpful. It wasn't easy and sometimes I felt like I couldn't keep up with everything we were learning, but I put in the extra hours and used the support provided to me through TA's, instructors, my mentor and other students to succeed and I did it. If I can do it with no prior skills or knowledge in this field, I genuinely believe anyone can.

Code platoon is without a doubt the best coding camp out there. With the added assistance from instructors, versatile curriculum, job assistance and career prep, it has truly made me ready to enter the world of software development and engage in a new career.
Student 2021
I attended Code Platoon remotely from February – May, 2021. I was able to attend through the DoD SkillBridge Program, of which Code Platoon is an approved program, during my last few months of Active Duty. Though my entire experience was remote, It did not detract from the immersive experience and overall quality education. In just a few short months, myself and others, all of whom were at different levels of experience, were able to go from writing simple “Hello World” scripts, to full-stack applications incorporating multiple 3rd party APIs. This was done through a multitude of individual, as well as group work, that got each student used to the industry standards that we would each be expected to understand as we move into the job search. The technology stack we used throughout Code Platoon included Python/Django, JavaScript/React and Postgres/SQL as well as HTML/CSS. This exposed us to modern technology, that is in demand in throughout the industry, and also gave us a more diverse skillset, as opposed to a purely JavaScript based curriculum. Code Platoon also offered numerous workshops throughout the cohort with teams and individuals in the industry to expose us to new technology or give us a more in-depth look at the tech we were learning. In addition to this we also were given “Beyond Tech” workshops that helped students learn skills that went beyond just technology. One of the beyond tech workshops I found particularly useful was the personal finance workshop, as I hadn’t had much experience with money management. Code Platoon also offered an optional mentorship throughout the program that pairs students with a mentor in the industry. I, being active duty Army at the time, was excited to have a mentor who was an Army Veteran. With my mentor I was able to ask more in depth questions about the current tech industry, as well as learn new skills that may not have been offered in Code Platoon. Lastly, the cohort offers an apprenticeship program, that gives students the opportunity to interview and potentially land an internship or fulltime job with partner companies. This is an incredibly valuable option for students, and helps keep everyone motivated to work their hardest and learn the material as thoroughly as they can. Overall, I can’t recommend this program enough to any Veteran, active duty service member, or military spouse! Pros: - Strong Curriculum that exposes students to an awesome tech stack that is prevalent throughout the industry. -Offers both technical and non-technical workshops to help strengthen students’ knowledge and preparedness to enter the industry. -The apprenticeship program is an extremely valuable program that can help new programmers enter the industry with awesome companies. Cons: -If you have any prior experience coding, it can start off a little slow. - Being remote as of May 2021 (Though this may change), can present difficulties in some cases, though for the most part Code Platoon handled it well.

A FullStack dev bootcamp focused for veterans and military spouses with little to no prior programming experience. Code Platoon does a fantastic job teaching the fundamentals and advanced skills that you will need to succeed in coding. Their services go beyond just coding with full career prep and counseling.Though the task seems daunting at the start, the weeks will fly by and you will not believe how far you can go!
Graduate 2021
In the overwhelming sea of bootcamp options, it's hard to imagine a better option than Code Platoon for members of the military community (I attended as a military spouse). From its emphasis on diversity & inclusion (so many scholarships available to under-represented communities) to its consistent willingness to re-assess the program curriculum, Code Platoon is a well-structured, intensive program that teaches the hard technical skills you would expect from a coding bootcamp along with invaluable guidance on necessary soft skills for those entering a new career. The team is very explicit about the time demands of the course, but a welcoming support network of teaching assistants and alumni are always available, whether you're stuck on a concept from the day's class or wanting to dive a level deeper with an experienced developer. As many have touched on here, getting the most value from the program requires more than completing the minimum requirements, and I highly recommend leveraging the provided community resources, from individual mentorship to resume reviews to job search assistance.
Student 2021
Code Platoon is much more than a coding boot camp. It is a program by veterans for veterans that genuinely prepares you for a transition into the tech field. Along with programming, the instructors teach interview preparation, resume writing, and other skills needed to be successful. Code Platoon offers to match you with a mentor already in the field early in the program. It is not required, but I would recommend it!

I learned more than I thought possible, all in a supportive and flexible environment. I feel lucky to've gotten to attend CP. The instructors were excellent, and both the technical and career prep curricula were outstanding. If you're a veteran or military spouse thinking about learning to code, I'd look long and hard at Code Platoon.
Graduate 2020
Originally, I was completely unaware of Code Platoon as a coding bootcamp option. It was appealing for a few reasons: VET-TEC approved, follow veterans and spouses, full stack web development and a full-time remote option. If you have no prior experience in programming, you will not be left behind. However, you will need to put in several hours outside of lecture and beyond the homework. The best thing to help your progression will be learning how you learn. I watched a lot of YouTube tutorials prior to starting new languages, frameworks or libraries to get familiar. Reading documentation is also extremely helpful and underrated. You will more than likely be overwhelmed at the beginning and at additional points.
Once you start learning, you get exposed to an exponential amount of computer science disciplines. This isn’t new information if you have been reading up on attending a bootcamp, but I want to make it clear there will be stress involved. The staff and teaching assistances will help you understand the material, not just complete it, and will answer all your questions. The bootcamp is still working 100% remote due to COVID-19 restrictions and safety. Therefore, you need to make sure you ask questions. The program sets you up for success with an excellent curriculum, which is not limited to development. It also includes internships, job placement assistance, resume assistance, budget management, investment strategies and one-on-one mentorship. These are all great benefits if you take advantage of them. Find your motivator and hold to it throughout the program. If you do that, Code Platoon will help you with the rest to start a rewarding career in software development.
It took me nearly six months to get placed after regular applications and interviews. They will attempt to find a career for you in your area with the help of Rich and the Chicago staff. They consistently work with you to work on interviews, resumes, networking and introductions to potential employers. The bootcamp does not end when you graduate, and they support you to remain on task. I could not state enough how helpful it is to have someone keeping you on track and motivated, especially in this current economic climate. The strategies we developed together, and the consistent communication were crucial for my successful placement at an excellent company in the Boston area.
