I started the full data scientist course by Practicum in 2020. It's a good solid course with slack/webinars and etc. ways of communication. They provide a platform for tasks and during each sprint need to finish a project.
THIS REVIEW IS HELPFUL0

In the end of November, I decided to enroll for the Practicum by Yandex Data Science bootcamp. I started the introductory course and I got hooked. So much, that I completed the first three chapters in 2 days. It did not take me long either to complete the rest 5 chapters of the course. It was not my knowledge and skills that enabled me to finish everything in such a short time, but the interesting content, and the help of the Yandex team. I must say that is not the first time I am doing online Python lessons, but it is the first time where I feel challenged (rather than discouraged) to solve tasks and problems. I really like the concise content of the lessons - structured around solving a particular problem and I love the message window that pops up after getting the right solution. How well thought that these messages are not saying the same thing over and over again, such as 'Correct' or 'Well done', but they make reference to the topic I study at that moment and summarize the results in a creative way. These messages put smile on my face. I also like that there are diverse range of examples for the tasks, so there is something of interest for everyone (regardless whether you are a movie fan, marketing analyst, or social media devote, there is something you have knowledge on, so that motivates you more to solve the tasks and see what the results are). In addition, I feel that I am part of a great community that is always there to help. I have asked for help on fb, on slack, directly on the learning platform and the whole team is so friendly and makes me feel that I am not bothering them and that they are always available for the students. I am so excited about everything on this course, that I find myself studying late at night, or whenever I find a free time during my day job. I genuinely enjoy my learning journey with Yandex. Thank you Yandex team, you are all wonderful!

The Yandex Practicum is an online course that provides the basic tools for a Data Scientist including a solid platform for studying the more advanced subjects. The course is an 8 months long program, in which there are a lot of mini-courses regarding multiple subjects in the field. Each of the courses includes a project which is checked carefully by the Practicum staff to provide constructive feedback to the student. In short, it's a great jumpstart towards the world of Data Science for students of any background who need the Data Science tools for their jobs or just for fun :-).

I just started the full data scientist course by Practicum. Before that, I did the introduction course and that went really well! The course was difficult but, it allowed me to get a full view of what I would be doing in the data scientist course. The nice thing about the introduction course is that you can not only ask questions through the slack channel and get answers but, you can also ask questions on the learning platform and get help right away! The transition from the introduction course to the full program is smooth. Another, thing that is nice is if you don't remember something that you learned from the introduction course you can just go back and practice the skill! One thing that is consistent throughout all of my experience is the knowledge that this course is going to difficult but, the staff is there to make sure that you are successful in the process. All in all, I am super excited to continue the course and gain the skills to become a data scientist.

Currently taking the Data Science course. From the perspective of a CS grad and as a software engineer, the program is of good quality. I can't compare it to other bootcamps, but from a practical point of view, you're taught most things necessary to do your job correctly. As with most online courses, what you put into it is what you get out of it- there are a lot of resources that you have access to throughout the duration of the program, make use of them. This includes mentors that review your code, demonstrations from professionals to see how they would do projects you previously completed, webinars for all sorts of things, group zoom meetings, articles, etc. You also have access to a slack channel where you can communicate with other students and mentors. You can choose to use it. Or not.Let's talk about the education material. You progress through the course in 2 week sprints, with a module and a project in each sprint. Each module builds on top of the previous. Overall you'll learn to use python and the associated tools required for data science purposes(Anaconda, relevant python libraries, github, jupyter notebook, etc) and the critical thinking skills required for the job. Over time your hand is held less, and you'll learn to utilize anaconda to do your work, without relying on Practicum's interactive platform. You'll slowly be expected to know more material, and utilize python + associated libraries to do the work you need to do, while learning to search for documentation on your own(aka googling) to understand specific classes/methods in the relevant libraries. For those with no prior coding experience It may seem to progress fast, but again you're given a lot of resources and help along the way. You'll gain a lot from the curriculum if you put in the recommended hours into it. Maybe you'll need less. Projects will be hard work- but you'll have unlimited opportunities to submit it, get it reviewed, ask questions, and be guided by both the code reviewer and the mentors. For those with prior coding experiences, the beginning may seem to progress slowly, and earlier projects may seem a bit tedious. Best of luck to you.My biggest gripes would be the automated testing in the interactive platform, the lack of clear instructions for some of the work required, and sometimes sentences that are worded poorly. Submitting code may throw incomprehensible/false errors, causing you to be stuck on things that shouldn't be an issue. The platform still needs work, and I hope it will continue to be improved. On the bright side, you have the slack channel for your needs of assistance- vague instructions and lack of both clarity and assistance is something the tech industry excels at even more :-)

I personally have never had experience studying from an online boot camp, but I saw Practicum through an enticing advertisement and decided to finally pull the trigger after thinking about being part of a boot camp for some time. The early part of the course is easy to understand even for those without STEM backgrounds while teaching Python fundamentals. I am in the last third of the course and it has become increasingly difficult where I'm putting in 1.5x more hours than I had originally I think. Fortunately, the instructors are very responsive in addition to other students who are able to help. The community that is cultivated in my cohort is extremely impressive, and I do feel like I am growing and learning with my fellow students. The job assistance portion is relatively new, but I believe they are approaching it correctly and providing great resources for the job seekers. I'm curious to see the concepts they teach and the job assistance they provide in my last few months with them. I have trust in their ability to provide the same great quality for the rest of the boot camp.

I’ve been a student in Practicum’s full Data Scientist course for a little while now and man is it a lot of information. As a recent graduate with a degree in Data Analytics, I’m well aware of the scope of this industry right now (Unsupervised vs Supervised Learning, Data Warehousing, Networking, Text Analysis, Machine Learning, the list goes on!). There is simply so much material out there that it is difficult to know where to start. Peer to peer, I’ll be honest. This course requires a tremendous investment of time, more so for those completely new to the material, and potentially more than the developers have suggested. That said, it is also the best course I’ve found on the market today. Not only do you have exclusive access to collaborative community channels, you have 24/7 live support from the Practicum team, opportunities for one-on-one help with your tutor, and a multitude of supplemental resources to help you along your journey. Let me be clear, this is a boot camp course. It is intense. It is hard and it will test you. I’m not personally done with my course yet, but I have already gained so much already, some of which I’ve added to my resume. I wholeheartedly recommend this course and please feel free to reach out to me if you’d like more information.

* The material is very structured with great examples that make it clear and easy to learn.* The team makes it feel like home, always trying to assist with various issues and helping you to get through your track.* You can start practicing immediately in the course platform, and work on your projects - the installation of the workspace on your PC is not a barrier! you can deal with it later.* The course takes you step-by-step with small amounts of theory and small tasks - a great thing if you deal with concentration difficulties!* There's practicing from the very begining, you code nice stuff before you notice* All the topics you need for your projects are covered in the course texts, no need to drown in a sea of information - you'll know what to search for.* Very organized forum for questions about tasks which makes it easy to find what you need quickly.* All the necessary material is textual, the videos are usually just a bonus - a great advantage if you are the type of person that loves texts and despises videos like me :)Besides that, I think you'll need to develop a good coding style on your own, and search for efficient and aesthetic ways to implement your code. I came to this course with some experience in Python coding and with a BSc in electrical engineering, but I don't think that's necessary for studying.

Fantastic course so far!Having completed the intro course, this program seems to be a really good mix between your standard intensive boot camp and something like DataQuest ore Codeacademy. This is helpful in keeping you motivated without feeling too rigid. There is the occasional issue that arises due to some translation issue (Yandex is a Russian company), but translating is hard enough without having to do it while teaching a technical subject. I'd rate this a 4.5 stars if I could due to the newness of the course and the fact it's still in development. All in all, I highly recommend at least trying the intro to see if the format works for you.

I'm a beta tester for the Practicum by Yandex on the Data Scientist Track. The strengths of the program lie in their real-life data, real-industry data tasks and systematic curriculum. I like the way they stipulate the research question at the beginning of each lesson, then give a summary of how the lesson will help learners decipher that question via data analysis. The big question at the beginning will then be divided into smaller tasks with corresponding data analysis lessons. They wrap up the lesson by pointing out how the learner's progress has helped to answer the question and what the next steps are. I find this process very helpful and exciting since it makes me act as if I was a real data scientist. A special shout-out for the technical support team, teaching assistant and community managers for being so responsive, attentive and friendly (they always put a smiling icon after their explanation/message) to learners' theoretical questions as well as their challenges in coding or keeping up with the learning process. There were some points during the process I thought I could have given up had there not been their timely support and encouragement. There are two things I think the platform can improve to help learners excel more in their work: the use of English language and adding more theories. I am not a native English speaker, sometimes I found it difficult to understand what the instructions are on the platform since their English syntaxes sound unfamiliar to me. I also hope to get more theories on data science. Since it's still in its testing period, I believe the team will soon fix all these bumpy issues and the new generation of learners will have the best learning experience as they can!

Practicum by Yandex (the Russian tech giant) is a new platform for learning data science, and has a lot of potential for growth in my opinion. While the fact that it's a new platform does mean it still has a few bumps here and there, they are quickly fixed - and the team comes up with new ideas and initiatives for enhancing the learning process. The team does their absolute best to be there for you, from the community managers, through the instructors all the way to a dedicated 24/7 support team. For an online platform, it has two novel and welcome additions - biweekly (every two weeks is a 'sprint', a learning subject) webinars and personal projects. Those projects, in my opinion, are the highlight of this program - they enable you to express yourself as a data scientist, with constructive, personal feedback. In addition, at the end of the program they offer aid landing your first job, but I haven't reached that part yet. One thing I'm missing a bit is an emphasis on data science theory. But, well - even Practicum's name implies at its dedication for implementation and hands-on experience. In any case, a good data scientist has to know how to find new textbooks and research papers :)

So far I have only done the intro course. The following is a summary of my feedbackLiked:
Cheatsheets
Course & Lesson progression is done well
Conceptual graphics
Lesson Overviews(before) and Summaries/Review(after)
Disliked:
The “Next” button -> Please~! separate the “Check” and “Next” button OR hide the next task(s) until the user clicks on the “Next” button!!!I have had to start over multiple times after losing a lot of solutions to the next task because of this
Lesson content (not structure) Although I felt that some lessons had too much information in them, I was still able to complete the tasks. My suggestion is one that I feel 50/50 about. That is to separate lessons - one lesson for new concepts, another for the application of that concept using data.
Extra:
Virtual flashcards with concepts on cheatsheet and other things that would be useful to quiz yourself
Pomodoro to set focused study time and breaks in intervals

I am very glad that I decided to start the Yandex Practicum course.Yandex Practicum creates a really cool community. Newcomers to IT often suffer from the fact that when faced with problems, they cannot / are afraid to ask other people for opinions on how to solve them. Here you will never feel left alone with a problem. Your classmates are a truly amazing source of knowledge. We are all of different levels, we came here with different goals, but everyone is ready to help each other whenever possible. If you are a beginner, it's best way to start.Thank you Yandex.Practicum for this!

Practicum by Yandex is an excellent service with very informative courses. I'm glad I made the decision to take the course and have already learned a lot and don't plan on stopping anytime soon. There is a paid portion of the course after the free trial segment I plan on paying for as well. It’s amazing how I can learn an absolutely new profession in just 7 months. After I finish the course, I will for sure find a high paying job cause the demand for IT professionals is at an all time high. I believe that Practicum by Yandex is an incredibly useful platform for future generations to come.

I was on the hunt for some web development online courses when I stumbled upon Practicum by Yandex. I wasn't sure I would be able to complete it at first, but in the process of learning, I gained the self-confidence I needed! In my opinion, the course structure and material gets the job done really well.
Graduate 2019
It all started with my dorm friend getting an internship with the Yandex office in Boston. By the time he recommended Practicum to me, I already had my Data Science AAS from Austin Community College and honestly didn't care about the theory at all. I also started working for one of the smaller supermarket chains here in Texas. So the main appeal of the training were hands-on projects of the course. I hoped they would enhance my portfolio. The fact that all the practical assignments were based on the real stats of "Russian Google" and its most significant projects' seemed really attractive. I wasn't mistaken. I spent eight hundred dollars total for the course. And as an outcome, I now have 15 new projects in my portfolio.
Obviously, the theory was a bit basic in my particular case, which also saved me a lot of time. But I reckon it is a great start for beginners. The course shows off an impressive array of widgets and gadgets and gives much practice with tools that are very useful in the day by day of a data scientist.
I had a great experience, and the outcome far exceeded my expectations.
