Data Science For All / Empowerment

Correlation One's DS4A Program was a complete experience. The teachers were clear and concise with just the amount of real word examples that inspire powerful questions and hands on learning. The course was funs and the commitment to equity and diversity shone  through in every aspect of the program from the Teacher Assistants, the Speakers, the Cases, etc.The DS4A Program aims to build a community of Data Science Practitioners who are both diverse and who can appreciate the importance of diversity to the field. There are several practices they incorporate to do just that. There are team mentors to assist teams along the way with their projects, as well as to add to your networks. There are career fairs to help fellows find their next opportunities, and there is a communication platform with groups to keep the fellows engaged and communicating amongst themselves.The aspect that I found most valuable is that the program is designed to meet you where you are and to allow for success regardless of the level that you enter the program. The curriculum includes everything from Python, Docker, and Jupyter Notebooks to aspects of Machine Learning. I highly recommend the DS4A Program and am thankful to have graduated from this life changing course.

This program is very different from the traditional bootcamps that exists. First and foremost, the program is free. There are not many free bootcamp programs that bring you instruction, networking, capstone presentation and employer connections all in one. I share a lot of programs but many of them struggle to get employers to hire their graduates. This organization has already built credibility in the AI and Data Science space from their other offerings so partnering with this organization to hire their graduates is a no brainer. You learn deep Python knowledge and libraries, from Pandas, to SciKit, Seaborn and much more. There is SQL, AWS, Data Studio and other areas of business intelligence and data analytics in the curriculum so you can understand what tools and languages are really applicable on the job. Overall, amazing program and if you are hesitant to apply I would check out their LinkedIn and read these reviews. There are amazing projects coming from C1 initiatives, impacting the lives of participants and organizations.

I recently graduated as part of the first cohort of the DS4A/Empowerment program. It was one of the best things I’ve ever done personally and professionally. It provided me the opportunity to work on technical skills I have long wanted to work on, with a structured curriculum and interesting cases and projects. My favorite part of the program is that it is multifaceted: it had the component of learning data science; it provided mentorship; there was a speaker series; there were career sessions and company presentations. DS4A really cultivated an amazingly supportive community that I have had the privilege to participate in. I don't see a lot of people who look like me in technical or leadership roles, and I'm so grateful to have found the support and inspiration from DS4A. I really value diversity, equity, and inclusion, which deeply aligned with the program’s mission. However, the biggest challenge I faced was balancing a demanding full-time job along with being a student in DS4A at the same time. I knew it would be a lot of work and I was right. I entered the program as a beginner in data science, and I know that I take longer to really understand technical concepts. There were many times that I fell behind due to workload. The program has wonderful TAs and instructors who really want students to succeed, making themselves available for office hours outside of class time. The other students in the program were also really helpful, and I found a buddy to hold myself accountable to keep working through the homework, lectures, and project. It wasn’t easy but with tenacity, commitment, and willingness to learn, it will be one of the best experiences you’ll have, even getting to meet individuals you would not have otherwise met. I highly recommend DS4A so make sure you apply!

I  think the DS4A experience impacted me the most in showing what data science could do to propel my career and hopes in product development. I'm excited to see what the next steps in my journey is after graduating from the program. I would highly recommend the opportunity to anyone looking to be challenged and make a career shift into data technologies.

The program is an excellent experience. The quality of the teachers and staff is outstanding. The course is well structured and the topics covered provide useful skills. The mentoring and networking continues even after the graduation, which is great. The dynamics of the classes, and the case studies makes it a very interesting and entertaining course.

I attended Data Science 4 All bootcamp and I can easily say this is the best program I’ve ever been a part of. Correlation One's Data Science foe All (DS4A) / Empowerment program aims to train 10,000 data science professionals in 3 years and I’m so excited to be a part of the Fall '20 cohort.This program not only offers real data cases with wonderful instructors but also gives an opportunity to conduct a capstone project with the mentorship of highly skilled professionals.If you want to learn data science alongside a group of 500 brilliant people and apply your knowledge on a research project alongside a small team with the guidance of professionals, this is the best program for you.

This program is one of the most rigorous & collaborative environments I've been in. With diversity and inclusion at its core, I found the 13 weeks of instruction in python and data analysis quite insightful, especially as each lecture had strong real world examples. You won't regret applying to this program!

This course was my first introduction to data and it’s provided a solid foundation for my future studies and personal projects. Highlights for me were:- Material delivered in the form of interesting real world cases that demonstrated how data science is being used in the business world.- Responsive teaching staff who were always available to help with any questions.- Exposure to companies operating in different industries that shared their own application of data science.Overall, this course is perfect for anyone who’s looking for an in-depth introduction to the field and wants to gain the skills necessary for a career pivot. 

I participated in  Data Science For All / Empowerment (DS4A) for 13 weeks and it was a beautiful experience. I became part of a strong network of brilliant data scientists who are passionate about tackling the most impactful challenges with their data skills. At DS4A, most of the learning for me happened while collaborating with peers new to computing who brought strong and diverse perspectives into the program. I found passionate mentors who helped me navigate the job search process, reinvent myself, and land a great internship. Lastly, the powerful people here listened to feedback and adapted the observations from the participants.

 After 13 weeks of work, I am proud to have earned my certificate from Data Science 4 All's Empowerment Course! I went from a complete novice in Python to helping construct a public dashboard that details socioeconomic factors in the greater Washington D.C. Area, including eviction rates and rates of COVID-19 in the region! I feel honored to have worked as part of the first cohort in this innovative, diverse program with exceptionally talented professors and teacher's assistants. I would encourage anyone who wants to improve their skills in data analytics and find a network of professionals from all walks of life to apply for a future DS4A course. 

DS4A was a truly amazing educational experience. I went from knowing intermediate SQL, to deploying machine learning models in a matter of months. The cohort was truly collaborative, and it's a non-competitive environment. Professor Pillai is absolutely incredible, and he brought his vibrant personality to a 500-person class every Saturday, and managed to make it feel like a small seminar by encouraging active participation in lectures. I encourage everyone interested in learning data science, or increasing their analytics skills, to apply to this program. At the very least, it will be a challenging but fun experience where you can network with hundreds of driven professionals who are either in the field, or are trying to break into it. 

The ability to interact with diverse groups and experts, learn from them and the great mentorship platforms coupled with job opportunities and networking makes this program an unbeatable experience.  It is also free and provides great resources and opportunities to flex and be your best. The program was really intense but the process was intellectually rewarding. DS4A gave me the opportunity to have the experience to learn and acquire relevant data science skills. 

This was a 3 month Data Science program focused on learning the foundations of Python and Data Science. The program leveraged Ivy League professors and industry professionals to teach us principles of data science. The TA's were all in industry and were awesome resources. 

In the fall of 2020, I began my journey with Correlation One Empowerment Program, and it was amazing! I had the honor to work and network with an amazing data science community and develop lifelong relationships. After completion of the program, you will develop an invaluable skill set to for various data science projects, and you will understand how to utilize an array of tools, such as python, SQL, GDS, AWS, and more. The curriculum involves heavy details in coding fundamentals and problem solving for various real-world data science projects,  and also helps build your data science portfolio. Professor Natesh and the mentors in this program will help you achieve a thorough understanding of elements needed to be successful in data scientist, even for a beginner. 

Data Science for All/Empowerment was a great learning experience.  The instructors and teaching assistants are engaging.  The curriculum covers fundamental skills such as Python and SQL and also helps learners begin thinking logically and break down problems step by step.The program provides mentors and informational sessions from sponsor companies in addition to job resources.  I have been able to also foster an extensive network of peers.My overall experience was very positive and empowering!

DS4A has opened the doors for my classmates and me in so many ways I had not thought possible. The classes, guest lectures, and individual TA time not only elevated my data science skills but propelled me to a new level. The quality of my classmates was also on par with what you'd see at any top-tier institution and allowed me to learn, network, and grow beyond my expectations. I'd recommend this course to anyone interested in establishing skills in the data science realm and engaging with some of the most brilliant people in the field.

 DS4A Empowerment has changed my life. It evolved my “professional toolkit” while solidifying the intellectual foundation I needed to continue building my career.  Before this program I asked questions like “what does the data tell us?”. I now ask, “why are we only using this type of data?”, “how can we access more data?”, and “how can we leverage more specific data to enhance our decisions or focus?”.  This program has allowed me to multiply the value that I add to any company or team. I’ve found myself collaborating with a COO on exploring strategic ways to enhance our value proposition by leveraging data. I’ve challenged a startup on their process of analyzing data in excel and felt extremely comfortable asking them "Where are the Pandas!? Pandas!? Pandas!?" (inside joke for my C1 DS4A Fellows).  The entire DS4A Empowerment experience was priceless. Natesh Pillai is officially the best professor I have ever learned from! The TA’s really care about your success and share their years of experience to help you succeed. The entire community of fellows support each other, reinforcing the belief and identity of the DS4A empowerment movement!  The program also does a great job bringing in corporate sponsors who actively recruit from the program. They go above and beyond to try to connect you with anyone from those companies. The job assistance is perfect for those in the early stage of their career as most jobs are entry level.  

This was a fantastic program and incredibly well organized. From the curriculum, content, support from teacher asssitants and lead professors to guest speakers and job assistance. The support everyone involved in this program and the students put into this is real. My SQL and Python knowledge was at a very basic level before starting, and tafter the program I feel much more confident on what I learned and to apply it directly in my job. I took the program as a way to build my data analytics skills, use it on my daily work and to help me grow professionally and work closely with the teams managing data every day. I'd say it was a success and can;t stop recommending it to everyone. We need more representation from our communities in the places where the data is analyzed, algorithms are being written and business decisions are being made. This is a great way to build knowledge and skills to get us there.

Data Science for All/ Empowerment was my very first time learning how to code, and it was the best introduction for my start in the data science field. The curriculum is very difficult, and as a new coder the fast-paced teaching and 4 hours of lecture every week was a lot to get behind, but the fellows and their guest speakers keep you motivated! My teaching assistants were extremely helpful and were so willing to work with you if you could not make it to their weekly office hours. And, most importantly, the community that this program was able to create was unlike any other institution, program, or fellowship I have ever been a part of. Fellows just wanted to help and see you succeed whether that be connecting you with people in their network, sharing job opportunities or grants, or hopping on a Zoom call to help you with homework.
