Cyber Advance for Women in MENA

I am excited to share my experience during the past six months as a Fellow at the Correlation One Cybersecurity Advance Program for Women in the MENA Region.If you're a woman interested in tech or cybersecurity, this program could be a great opportunity for you This program is delivered by Correlation One and is supported and fully funded by the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Defense. You will always be supported by lead instructors, making complex concepts much easier and clearer to grasp.And teacher assistances are available around the clock to answer all of your questions. They were there every step of the way throughout the 22 weeks helping me achieve more than I thought I could. Throughout the program, we covered a wide range of cybersecurity topics, including:  - Introduction to IT & Cybersecurity - Introduction to Security Concepts - Security Controls - Threat Vectors, Threat Actors, and Motivations - Vulnerabilities and Indicators of Compromise (IOCs) - Enterprise Threat Mitigation - Security Architecture - Data Protection and Recovery - SecurityOps - Vulnerability Management and Monitoring - Enterprise Security Management and IAM - Automation in Security - Incident Response - Risk Management - Security Awareness This program didn’t just improve my technical skills it helped me believe in myself by Career Success Coaches (CSCs) sessions they provide essential support like refining your CV and LinkedIn profile, and doing mock interviews preparation sessions to ensure you are ready for the job market.In addition, the program fully supported the CompTIA Security+ global certification exam, offering it free of charge. This certification is a strong foundation for starting a career in cybersecurity and the program guided us step by step on how to prepare effectively and confidently for the exam. I completed the Correlation One Cybersecurity Fellowship from June to November 2025, and overall it was a valuable and challenging experience that helped strengthen my foundation in IT and cybersecurity. The program covered a wide range of topics including operating systems, networking, security controls, threat analysis, incident response, and risk management. The structure was fast-paced but well-organized, and I appreciated how each section built on the last.One of the strongest aspects of the program was the hands-on work. The 16 labs and the real-world case studies were especially helpful in reinforcing concepts like digital forensics, access control, cryptography, and vulnerability assessment. Being able to apply skills using tools and frameworks such as OpenSSL and MITRE ATT&CK made the learning feel practical and relevant.I also found the support from instructors and staff to be consistent and encouraging. They were responsive when I had questions and provided useful feedback on assignments. The weekly assessments pushed me to keep up with the material, and maintaining a high average helped me stay motivated.If there’s one area that could be improved, it would be offering more optional live sessions or office hours for students who want deeper explanations or extra practice. The content is dense, and having more interactive time would make the experience even stronger.Overall, I had a positive experience and feel more confident in my cybersecurity skills after completing the fellowship. I would recommend it to others who are motivated, willing to put in the time each week, and looking for a structured path into cybersecurity.

This hands-on implementation was vital for building confidence.​A huge differentiator was the commitment to professional development outside of the class schedule. We had extracurricular sessions continually over the six months featuring speakers with extensive industry experience. These sessions were invaluable, providing realistic insights into different career paths, industry trends, and the day-to-day life of a security professional. It kept the learning relevant and forward-looking.​Finally, the support system was truly the backbone of the entire experience. The lead instructor, TAs, and staff were beyond amazing. They created an incredibly supportive and encouraging environment. Whenever I hit a roadblock—whether it was a difficult lab or just feeling overwhelmed—they were there with guidance, patience, and genuine enthusiasm. Their dedication extended directly to career goals, providing the amazing support needed to study for and successfully pass the CompTIA Security+ certification. That targeted assistance made a massive difference.​Highly recommended for any woman in the MENA region looking for a rigorous, supportive, and career-focused entry into the cybersecurity field.

This program was incredibly inclusive and truly hands-on. The instructors were deeply knowledgeable in their field, and the level of support and resources they provided throughout the program was outstanding. We covered every topic required for the CompTIA Security+, and went beyond, through simulated labs and real hands-on experience with industry tools and technologies.In addition to the technical training, we also received professional development sessions and ongoing support from career coaches. Their guidance has been instrumental in helping me advance my career, and I’ve genuinely valued the time I’ve spent working with my coaches. Overall, this program has been a transformative experience that thoroughly prepared me for the next steps in my cybersecurity journey.

 was generally limited, but after enrolling and graduating—all within six months—I learned a great deal, and my understanding of the field increased significantly. I truly learned a lot through the dedicated practical labs, such as how to use the Wireshark tool, understanding Linux commands and their uses, and much more. Now, whenever I read an article or start a new course in cybersecurity, I inevitably realize that I already grasp that concept or have become familiar with it because I studied it in this program.I also greatly appreciate the assistance we received from the teaching assistants and the help from the CSC in creating a proper CV, developing a good LinkedIn profile, and learning how to search for a job, among many other things. I recently completed a comprehensive tech bootcamp, and the experience was truly transformative. The program was extremely well-structured, providing a balance of technical knowledge, practical projects, and soft skills development. As a woman from the MENA region hoping to build a stronger future in tech, joining this cybersecurity program was one of the best opportunities that I’ve had. The curriculum is very well designed, it takes you from the fundamentals to more advanced topics in a structured way, with plenty of hands-on practice.But what made the biggest difference was the support system. The instructors were patient and knowledgeable, and the team always checked in to make sure we were on track. The community of students was motivating, inspiring, and truly collaborative, it was amazing to be around all those brilliant women.Throughout the program, I noticed my confidence growing. This program has been incredibly helpful and informative from day one. Everything was well-organized, and all the materials were easily accessible. We also received assistance at every step. I really enjoyed this amazing program. It significantly expanded my knowledge, and we benefited greatly from the expertise of the instructors, who provided many valuable tips and tricks to support our journey.The team created an engaging and enjoyable learning environment — from playing music based on our suggestions, to displaying the duck race before sessions and during breaks, and even celebrating our birthdays.During the sessions, any question asked in the live chat was answered immediately by the TAs, and reaching out to any staff member was always easy and smooth. The opportunity to have 1:1 sessions with both TAs and CSCs was extremely valuable.The PD sessions felt like therapy, and the overall experience — including Codio, labs, the curriculum, technical sessions, PD sessions, the dedicated AI model for Security+ exam preparation, and the CV-building tool integrated with AI for transforming experience descriptions into bullet points — was truly impressive.The Security+ mock exams were also a great addition. Overall, everything was perfect.

Cybersecurity advance was extremely one of the most organized course that I  have taken. At the beginning I had zero knowledge about cybersecurity and really enjoyed learning along the 22 weeks. Since in each one I got a huge amount of knowledge that definitely was new for me, By the time you feel stressed but that was normal since PD sessions were held online by expert leaders who made everything simple and they encouraged us to continue with firing positive energy around . I can't forget how the Lead Instructors taught us and armed us with the modern technology with cybersecurity. Also the availabilityof  TA through the meeting and though the channels made huge difference, they helped us in a way that looked professionally. Now as a graduate I feel of high confidence to continue with this field specially after I passed in Secuiry + certificate. Glad to share this  view to encourage any woman to enroll with Correlation One and their great professional opportunity. 

The Cyber Advance for Women in MENA program by Correlation One included 200+ live technical training hours, nearly 350 total technical hours, and 33+ assessments and labs. I also gained value from the professional development sessions, which broadened my perspective and strengthened my skills.I’m truly thankful for the continuous support from the career coaches! What a great experience at the Cyber Advance for Women in MENA program! The instructors are not only professional but also talented at explaining the Curriculum and making it easier for learners, even when the sessions have heavy content. The balance between theory and practice was very well balanced throughout the modules, which included quizzes and practical exercises. The learning environment had a very special vibe, which was super friendly, filled with open communication and motivation. This is one of the best learning experiences I have ever had. The career coaching was the cherry on top, providing support through resume preparation and mock interviews, and general advice for future job applications. I highly recommend this program for learners who need to find an introduction into cybersecurity or strengthen their knowledge to find a job in the field.

I am incredibly grateful to share that I have successfully completed the Cyber Advance for Women in MENA program. It was a distinct honor to be accepted as one of the top 3% of applicants from a competitive pool of over 2,000 candidates across Egypt and Jordan. ​I am particularly proud to announce that I have graduated with Honors, having consistently achieved scores exceeding 90% across all my assignments and technical labs throughout the course. ​A Comprehensive, Fully Funded Opportunity This 22-week, fully funded scholarship—conducted by Correlation One and funded by the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs (US Department of State)—was far more than just a training course; it was a career-defining experience. ​Bridging Theory with Hands-On Practice Coming into this program with a Master’s degree, I possessed a strong theoretical foundation. However, this program was instrumental in filling the gaps between academia and industry. Through rigorous labs and technical training, I built the on-hand experience I use today—from securing server connections using SSH to hardening network configuration for enterprise security. ​Certification & Professional Milestones The program invested heavily in our professional credentials. The program was genuinely outstanding and incredibly valuable in building real defensive cybersecurity skills. What impressed me most was the balance between solid theory and practical application. This wasn’t just abstract concepts, we were constantly working through hands-on labs using tools like MITRE ATT&CK, Wireshark, Nmap, RITA, to mention a few. It made the learning experience both challenging and empowering.
As someone who’s neurodivergent, I also deeply appreciated how accessible the Correlation One learning portal is. It’s genuinely friendly to different learning needs and works smoothly with the assistive technologies I rely on. That made a huge difference in my ability to stay engaged and succeed.
