My time @ Le Wagon

Overall the experience was great ! I learned new skills (Ruby, Rails, HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and met amazing people. The projects we had to do at the end of this formation were amazing because it allowed us to use everything we learned before in a concrete way. I can't wait to see where this experience will lead me. Can't wait to jump into the tech world.

I loved Le Wagon Bootcamp

Le Wagon delivered 100% to my high expectations. I only heard positive things about it but living it was a much more complete and satisfying experience. It's intense, challenging, and demanding, but also rewarding. I loved it!

Great experience at Le Wagon

I really liked the teaching environment at Le Wagon. The staff/teachers here are really kind and open-minded, they find a time to help you with your doubts and they really take seriously students mental health (as it's a very tough course). It feels like a safe place to learn and makes you eager to learn. Personally I feel like the course was too compact, sometimes I felt overwhelmed because everyday we learnt a new different thing from what we learnt the day before. It might have been better if there were more weeks and we could learn more of for example Javascript in two weeks instead of one.But overall the experience was great and I really recommend studying at Le Wagon.

Excellent Bootcamp

The friendly environment and the help received when learning, made the journey very appealing. It was a wonderful experience. When I signed in, I expected to be good and learn a lot. It exceeded my expectations by far. I really enjoyed my time on campus, I made some good friends, and developed myself in tech knowledge and as a person. The staff is a kind and fun group of people. Always eager to help whenever you need something. They are also very professional with our learning path and make you feel like you're doing something important while having an enjoyable time.

Le wagon is the best decision that you can make!

I loved the course structure and challenges,it was pretty intense, but on the other hand it seemed like you manage to absorb everything day by day.I graduated with a complete app and if you told me 3 month ago that i would build an app , i would never believe that.I am very grateful to the teachers and stuff.

A road to second chance and lifetime opportunities

You won’t go wrong with Le Wagon. Le Wagon is one of the best things that ever happened to me. Coming from a background in law enforcement, I was keen to make a mid-career switch to future-proof myself and become a better version of myself by stepping out of my comfort zone. To make this review succinct and helpful to future boot campers, I will address questions that are likely to pop up in your head.

Q1: Why did I choose Le Wagon instead of other bootcamps in Singapore?
To me, Le Wagon won in many aspects. First, it is transparent - you get to see projects created by students week after week on YouTube, which shows that there's nothing to hide. Second, it is competitively priced, especially after government subsidies. Finally, the full-time, classroom-based programme was crucial for me to learn effectively and build lasting friendships with my classmates.

Q2: Did I get a job after graduation?
Yes, I got a job as a ReactJS developer with one of Le Wagon's hiring partners within a week after graduation. This is a testament to the high regard that companies have for Le Wagon.

Q3: Do I feel well-equipped after going through Le Wagon?
Le Wagon teaches Ruby on Rails, which I believe provides a solid foundation to the world of programming without the risk of getting lost. Additionally, Ruby on Rails is the perfect full-stack framework for boot campers, as it allows for easy and quick web application building. The experience of working on projects as a team was invaluable, as it prepared me for working with Agile and Git in my current job.

Q4: What have I gained in perpetuity?
I have gained lifelong friends, access to a strong Le Wagon Slack community, an up-to-date learning platform (Kitt) that remains with me forever, and a network of alumni who are part of the tech industry.

Q5: Has Le Wagon Singapore changed my life?
If it instills a love for coding and helps make your dreams come true, then yes, it has changed my life.

Great Learning experience

Its a great curriculum but one has to be willing to stick to it and Clear Your Schedule! The program is intense you learn a lot  but it all shows the last weeks ones you are doing your final projects and you start looking realising that you just build a mobile app that is functional and 4 months ago opening the terminal felt like entering the matrix. You are always going to have a lot of support from the teachers as well as the teacher assistants and everyone doing the bootcamp.  Looking at it from an experience point of view you are going to meet amazing people from all over the world have insanely talented teachers and have a great time.

Amazing interruption of study project!

I completely the Le Wagon bootcamp as part of an interruption of study from university. I was eager to learn something new and it's clear that Le Wagon ticked all the boxes in terms of social, work and professional ethics. It's been amazing to see my progress, starting from scratch and being able to create an app in 9 days is simply amazing. Thank you to all the team members at Le Wagon London for their support during this intensive bootcamp, it was definitely a learning curve and something I would definitely do again! The socialisation between batches is also definitely a massive plus to the overall bootcamp experience.

Best Bootcamp

I am an Engineering graduate and a mom. I always wanted to start my career in IT and so I have chosen to do a Full stack web development bootcamp with Le wagon. Le wagon has  a really good platform and the best curriculum for everyone who wants to learn code. I loved doing their  challenges  and the  flashcards. They also have the live code session at the end of the day and also the best part is that you have the cheatsheets, library and the resources for your lifetime and also the pre recorded lectures if you want to revise.I would highly recommend their bootcamps for everyone who wants to learn to code!

If you looking for switching your career with 0 tech background, don't come here!(Shanghai campus)

Pros:The classroom is setup nicely, some of the teachers are friendly and professional.Cons:1. The course design is unreasonable. This 10 weeks bootcamp contains Ruby on Rails and some front end courses, however, if you search junior Ruby on Rails in any job platform in China, you will find out it's less than 10. No kidding, it's not a popular backend language here at all while the course design contains most of the courses for this. And for the front end, how come the teacher only spent one day which is less than three hours to go through the Vue framework? For JavaScript is similar, a bit longer but than 3 hours but still very little. It's very frustrated when you finally find out that you quit your job and spent your whole 10 weeks for this bootcamp, then finally they teach you something that is NOT match to the job market. Only until you finish this bootcamp and start to find a job, you will find out all out the front end job requires you at least good at Vue, React or Angular. I think if people have 0 background of coding before, then they can master Vue just in 2 hours, you're a genius and you no need to come to Le Wagon at all! Hence, no one guide us to do our project with any framework for frontend! One of my expectation for this bootcamp is I can finish at least some presentable project and put them on my CV. However, the toy project they we made without any framework is totally unhelpful for job interview.2. Some of the teachers here are NOT qualify to be a teacher. During the class, you will find out you paying almost 40,000 CNY(which is around 4 months of average salary of Shanghai/around 5500 EUR) for unprofessional teachers. I'd say some of them are really good as the pros that I mentioned, but some of them are not qualify. Sometimes, when you asked a simple question, the teacher/TA just don't know and said let's google it together. Which is fine at the beginning. However, sometimes it takes a long time, and they may said something really confuse you. The problem is they don't know exactly how it works, they just repeat the answer from Stack overflow. Which we can all see. I think sometimes, as a student, you're expect the teacher can explain the how it works rather than just repeat the answer. What's worse, sometimes they just asked you to check the documentation. I think it's good to learning how to check the documentation, but we spent lots of money for  this bootcamp, I think it's reasonable that after I checked the documentation then I still have no answer, I can ask for help. Later on, me and some of my classmates realized that it's not because our teacher/TA are rude, it's because they don't know the answer. So they just keep saying that which makes you more confused. As for teachers manner, I think some of them didn't receive enough training of how to be a teacher. Sometimes, they're having a conversation very loudly when we are sitting there to study. Sometimes, when you approach the teacher and want to ask the question, they saw you but just keep talking to their good friends. Which is in a very bad manner, they put their personal conversation in a higher level than their work during working hours. It's acceptable if you just go out to have your conversation and don't make some noise while people are studying. Some of the teachers even have emotional problems, you will find out they are very rude both verbally and physically. Sometimes, when we talk about this, we can just comfort each other that maybe he's in period. 3. Very limited assistance of career service. Before we join the bootcamp, we're informed that there's career service and some of our alumni joined some good company. However, finally we find out the so called career service is just teached you how to write a Linkedin profile and invited alumni to share their experience. We expected that Le Wagon may introduce and refer some web development position for us, while it turns out a PM. If you want to find a job? Please rely on your own. It's completely different as what Le Wagon Shanghai promotes, which is 93% employment rate and median salary on first job is 214k CNY. 214K is NOT for junior developer in China, I think it's very lucky if you can find a web developer position job with 15k CNY in Shanghai. As for the employment rate, my TA told me no one find a decent job as a developer after 2 months that they finished the bootcamp. For our batch, not one get hire as a developer after we completed our bootcamp. In a nutshell, I think Le Wagon may have some good teachers and good relationship with some companies in Europe, however, please open your eyes and don't expect too much for Shanghai campus. The tech industry is very competitive in China now, if you looking for switch your career and get employ, maybe find a Chinese bootcamp is an option. I heard some of the people get hired by Accenture and Citi bank 1 week after they finished they bootcamp with half of Le Wagon's cost, and they have good projects. I really regret that I made a wrong decision and very anxious about my current situation. I wrote this for sharing my real experience and for someone who do not have tech background like me. Of course, if 40,000 CNY and 10 weeks means nothing for you, Le Wagon Shanghai is definitely worth to have a try!
