I chose to attend NYC Data Science Academy in 2019 because their campus was located near Port Authority and they provided individual courses after work hours. I was new to data and coding and took advantage of my employer’s tuition reimbursement to take NYC Data Science Academy’s courses before heading back to New Jersey. While taking the courses, I appreciated each lecturer’s ability to translate difficult concepts into digestible content for non-technical students. This was possible because each class size about 5 to 10 students per lecturer. When the time came to fully transition from my life science research job and enroll into a data science bootcamp, I chose NYC Data Science Academy because of my positive experiences from the individual courses. For those new to data and coding, NYC Data Science Academy is a great place to start as you transition into the data field. It’s intense. You’ll learn and forget a lot. You might think why do I need to learn Python, R, and SQL when you just want to learn about Machine Learning and AI. When you look back years later after you’ve finished, you’ll appreciate having learned them all because employers don’t use the same technologies or languages and the bootcamp will give you the ability, but most importantly, the confidence to learn the job requirements. Unfortunately, bootcamp completion is just the beginning. You need to keep learning after you graduate and expect to be studying outside work hours and on the weekends. There is no prestige upon graduation. It’s a Data Science bootcamp. Your friends and family but most importantly your employers won’t know about it. In the past 5 years, I had only one interviewer know about the bootcamp and it was because the interviewer was also an alumni. Otherwise, in every interview you’ll need to explain what you learned and what you developed. Every student comes from different backgrounds and different experiences. I graduated from a state school with a Bachelors in Biology with no technical background whatsoever. I took my first coding course at the NYC Data Science Academy, 2 years after my undergraduate degree. I’m thankful for the bootcamp. Without this opportunity, I wouldn’t have been able to get my foot in the door. My current salary is more than 4 times the salary of the research position I had before the bootcamp. If I could go back and start over, I would save at least 6 months of expenses before enrolling. I would expect at least 6 months after graduation to start your next role.

It is one my best investments taking Data Science Bootcamp at NYC Data Science Academy. I am from advanced quantitative background, and at NYC Data Science Academy, I was able to acquire and structure knowledge in Machine Learning. Vivian and her team doing great job continuously updating and introducing skills into the program to make the graduates marketable in the industry. One of main aspects of the NYC Data Science Academy is that you can always count on them in job assistance and expertise anyone needed to keep up with the industry. They always got your back and are ready to help you. I strongly recommend anyone who wants to join the industry regardless the background take the Bootcamp in Machine Learning. If you devote your time to studies you will be well prepared to do a great job in the industry. I personally after graduation because of their assistance got a six figure job at a consulting company. I am positive any graduate of NYC Data Science Academy can do even better.

After searching for a data science / machine learning program, I am truly happy I chose NYC Data Science Academy. I gained incredible technical skills with R, Python, and SQL over the bootcamp. Although the upfront software setup was overwhelming, there is so much material that it is important to take a break and return to it. Many mentors were available that help share their industry's best practices. The flexibility to choose 3 out of 4 projects helped motivate me to learn, research, and improve my efforts. Having completed the data science/machine learning bootcamp, it's great to see that there are smaller courses for additional topics such as generative AI.Financing is available. Mentors are experienced and patient. Strong post-graduation support and additional courses.Initial courseload can seem overwhelming, but just stick through it and it'll all fall into place!

I completed the in person Data Science Bootcamp with M/L in 2022. I chose NYCDSA as they were the only accredited program offering in-person classes at the time and had read other positive reviews. This bootcamp was very well taught - I thought the quality of content and instruction were thorough and rigorous, incorporating first principles / math foundations behind the concepts (their main instructor was excellent). There was a new lecture and a homework assignment nearly everyday. Some aspects of it were a little disorganized but I attribute this to the fast pace of the program. I came from a Biochemistry background and felt the program was challenging - expect to consistently put in additional hours after classes to keep up and after graduation to secure a job offer as well. Four months after completing the bootcamp, I received a job offer as a data science consultant from one of the school's hiring partners that was willing to sponsor a temporary work visa! I had prior data analytics experience, but no direct data science experience, so it goes to show that if you put in the work, it is possible to secure a data science role after graduation. Overall I think the Data Science + ML program at NYCDSA was well worth the investment! It helped me launch a new career path and was an experience that facilitated professional, intellectual, and personal growth. Also, my classmates were awesome whom I remained in contact with after the bootcamp ended, so that was a big bonus! If you have been contemplating enrolling in a data science bootcamp, are wanting to make a career switch, and are ready to put in the blood, sweat, and tears, I highly recommend NYCDSA.

I looked into several NYC bootcamps before deciding on NYC Data Science Academy. I chose this school because of all the good reviews and they focused solely on Data Science unlike the other bootcamps. It was a great experience with a knowledgeable teacher. The classes and homework problems focused on real world business applications. I definitely recommend this school for anyone interested in Data Science or Data Analytics.

The experience in NYC Data Science Academy was life changing for me. Prior to NYC data science academy, I was a Business Analyst at an insuretech firm where I had almost none exposure to coding, programming, not to mention machine learning.
The instructors are extremely professional and helpful. I was able to get hired in 3 months after graduation!
If you come from a background that is barely related to data science, programming or statistics, this bootcamp will get you started on a career for a data scientist. Other than technical skills, the bootcamp will also provide you with an approachable platform for job opportunities.
If you are looking for a job in data, then this bootcamp will be a perfect fit for you.

Let’s get straight to the point: if you decide to build a career path to the world of Data Science, NYC Data Science Academy is the best option. Why? I’m glad you ask and that’s why I’m back here to share some experience from the perspective of 12-week DS Camp alumni, and help resolve your concerns because I had the same doubt 6 years ago.Back in 2016, although one close friend already provided a 5-star recommendation of NYC Data Science Academy, it was still a big decision for me to fly all the way from the west coast to New York to spend the whole summer in the camp. At that time, there were online education websites like Coursera and Udacity, and similar data camps like Metis, General Assembly, etc. I browsed online day and night and called all of them to compare, but NYC DS Academy stood out. I had a 1-hour call with one of the instructors and the founder Vivian, what impressed me most was their professionalism, diligence and confidence in empowering students to become a real and competitive data scientist in the job market even with tons of data graduates from top-university data science/analytics master programs every year. Why? I’m glad you ask again. The camp is teaching well-rounded DS theories in a well-structured and systematic way within a much shorter but extremely intensive time. Believe me you will receive the most valuable and effective data science learning materials and instructions in Python, R, Statistics, ML, etc. The camp is training you to be a work-ready data scientist with hands-on experience in delivering a huge business impact in a company. Believe me you will work on industry-level data challenges instead of some textbook homework only. Those experiences are what top-company recruiters and hiring managers are eager to find, not to mention the career networking events Vivian hosted at the end of the bootcamp. Today I work for a top unicorn with a good amount of salary and solid data science skills gained from the camp. This education still helps every day in empowering my career growth. From time to time, I’m still reading the slides saved on my laptop 6 years ago. The 12 weeks in the camp are so worthwhile, because when it comes to shopping for data education, NYC DS Academy is the Costco not the Dollar Tree. You invest the $17K+ entry tuition and the hard work, and you earn the best data learning products within the shortest time and 10X salaries for tomorrow.Oh, one more thing … Did I mention that 80%+ of my classmates already earned master’s or Ph.D. degrees before the camp? That’s how selective the bootcamp is and how strong your data teammates will be.
Graduate 2016
I made the choice to participate in the 3-month intensive bootcamp back in the summer of 2016 at NYC Data Science Academy, after an uneasy career decision to switch from chemical engineering to the burgeoning field of data science. The journey begins with Google Search. The brand stood out in search results so I paid a visit physically then. To be frank, I was a little concerned if I was able to go through the bootcamp as I was fresh out of school and have little exposure at school in data science. However, I have strong determination and instinct that data science is what I need to make my career.Vivan’s friendliness, professionalism, and sympathy left me with a great impression so I registered in 2 days. When looking back, I wish I have joined the earlier cohort so I did not have wasted my time self-learning data science cluelessly. The 3-month at the bootcamp was one of the best times in my life. I was immersed in a learning environment that refresh my understanding of data science and challenged me every single day. Teachers and TAs worked very hard to make the learning experience seamless and they keep evolving.New algorithms and tools in data science come every single day. As a result, some of the topics I learned 6 years ago might not apply today now. But I would say the biggest asset I gained from the bootcamp was a group of self-driven peers who took data science seriously, willing to spend a dedicated 3-month in an immersive bootcamp. The same passion for data science makes us together. We learned from each other and shared the tears and joys in the projects and job hunting. Some of my peers become my best friends in the data science career. We often shared with each other the experience we learned from the work and the data science uncharted territories.

I'd gladly recommend NYC Data Science Academy's 12 week Data Science with Machine Learning course. I took this course in the Fall of 2021 and got a job offer as a data analyst just 2.5 months after graduating. The teaching is high quality and the tutors are always available and ready to help. Vivian, Courtney, Royce, and so many others were incredibly helpful. After I graduated, they continued to provide assistance during the job hunting phase. From resume reviews to practice technical interviews, from salary negotiations to general feedback, they continued to be an invaluable resource for me during that stressful time.

I recently completed the Data Science (ML) Bootcamp at NYC Data Science Academy. I already had a bit of a coding background from my Ph.D. program, but I didn't have the industry-centered DS/ML experiences. I chose NYCDSA because they teach all three of the data science tools used in the industry (SQL, Python, and R).
I enjoyed and learned a lot from the lectures. Some lectures (~5%) were taught by a new teacher, so it was a little bit unprepared, but the other 95% of the classes were very well paced and prepared. Also, the four projects (Python, R, ML, Capstone) during the Bootcamp were helpful – I used them to showcase what I learned to the interviewers.
I applied to about 100 jobs within 1 month after graduation, received about 10 interviews, and got an offer from one. The whole application/interview/acceptance process took about 8 weeks.

A very useful program that equips students with essential skills needed to land a data-related job. The program teaches students Python, R, SQL, and machine learning techniques so that graduated alumni would feel comfortable going through technical interviews. You will have the chance of getting involved with both individual and group projects, testing your ability to solve ad-hoc tasks which are crucial in real-world scenarios.

I joined the 12-week data science BootCamp in July 2021. Having a Ph.D. in mathematics, I had some understanding of when things are translated into math, but my programming skills have been rusty. I am searching for an efficient way to build up the toolkit as a data scientist, and NYCDSA helped me a lot throughout the process. The BootCamp was great in building a comprehensive skill set for a data scientist. It starts with some warmup on programming languages, followed by essential Python and R libraries, and then to machine learning. The cohort consists of a diverse group of people with different backgrounds and strengths, and the curriculum moved very fast, so it might occasionally become hard to grasp all the details during the twelve weeks. For instance, the instructors tried to go through the underlying statistics on regression models and the theory of gradient boosting, which is very challenging during the first pass. However, when I am reviewing the materials during my job search, I found those materials very helpful and worth spending great effort going through them.Four projects are done during the BootCamp. Each of them has a different focus, and at times we need to burn the midnight oil to get things done. It turned out that the projects are very helpful, not only because we got the chance to collaborate with our brilliant cohort mates, but the projects also became an important part of my resume. In addition, my group did our capstone project with a startup company, which provided us with a great chance to learn with some domain experts. The post-BootCamp support is also wonderful. I had a chance to meet with Vivian 1-on-1 to discuss the process, establish a job-hunting strategy, and polish my resume. It is not an easy path, but I found it very rewarding!

I completed NYC Data Science Academy’s 12-week full time bootcamp in December 2021. The program helped me transition from civil engineering and land a job in data science at a higher salary than I had previously. The program is fast paced and covers topics such as programming fundamentals in Python and R, SQL, machine learning, and the typical data science toolkit and fundamental concepts. If you do not have basic programming knowledge and a decent math foundation, I recommend putting in time to prep prior to starting the bootcamp as it tends to move quickly and it can be easy to fall behind. If you have the opportunity, I also recommend attending in person as it helps to have a study group to help you stay on track with the program. Coming out of the program with a project portfolio you can share with companies I found greatly helped with my job search. After completing the program, you will want to continue to work through Leetcode and/or Stratascratch questions to continue to sharpen your programming skills as well as review common data science and ML interview questions.

I graduated from NYCDSA's in-person data science + machine learning bootcamp, and also worked there as a TA for a few months while I applied for full-time jobs. For a little about me, I had withdrawn from a graduate program in pharmaceutical research and medicine, did a post-bac in comp sci, and then attended the NYCDSA data science + ML program. The curriculum moves quickly, covering everything from a short review of programming fundamentals to data manipulation and statistics libraries to a variety of machine learning algorithms. It is a lot to get through in a few months, and both in my class and the classes I helped teach, some people with less coding/math foundation might be a bit out of their depth when it comes to the more advanced ML topics. They know it's a ton to learn in that timeframe and provide really helpful post-graduation study plans, mock interviews, and coding challenges. Beyond the curriculum, I would highly recommend attending in person if you live in the NYC area or can spare the money to move there for the duration. It was great for my learning to be surrounded by intelligent and driven people who shared the same goals as me. Most (not quite all) of the instructors clearly had deep understanding of the material and were happy to answer questions in great detail outside of class hours or even after I graduated. The projects are major focus of the program and were a great opportunity to build a high-quality portfolio to show employers. Overall, the educational experience prepared me well both for the interview process and for my current job. After graduation, the career support is excellent. I had 1:1 meetings with Vivian after graduation to fine-tune my resume, improve my application and interview strategy, get advice on salary negotiation, and more. They will tell you that the work doesn't end when you graduate and it's definitely true. The program moves really fast and even with statistics and comp sci background there were gaps in my knowledge that I filled while studying for interviews after graduating. After a few months post-graduation of spamming leetcode, improving my application materials, and studying engineering and ML topics, I landed a data scientist position at a relatively prominent NYC-based tech company.
Graduate 2019
After completing my bachelor's degree, I noticed a gap between academic and professional, this was why I decided to enroll in the 12 weeks program at NYC Data Science Academy. The lecture materials cover data analytic to machine learning, as well as four different industry-related projects. The amount of knowledge I received in such a short time period was overwhelming. If I had a chance to get back to the program, I would spend more time going over the notes from class, trying to finish all of the homework, and asking questions to TA when they go over the homework.Post-graduation, Vivian, and Courtney from the hiring team will continue to assist you in terms of job hunting. They will go over your resume, cover letter and host weekly alumni meetings. Make sure to attend those meetings, it is a good opportunity to meet other people and the hiring managers from different companies, as well as share interview tips with each other. Those help me a lot throughout my job hunting.

NYC Data Science Academy is absolutely worth the investment. I wanted to switch my career to Data Science/Data Engineering and took the leap of faith. I started the 12 week Bootcamp on Sep 2021 and I was very satisfied with the course structure, projects, and learning experience. In my experience, we do not need a degree to be Data Scientist and NYC DSA prepares you for the first step towards your Data Science career.

My experience at the NYCDSA was really amazing although it was fully remote at the time (Jan - Apr 2021). When I joined, I already had strong skills in programming but my data science skills were close to none. The teachers at the academy were very patient with all of us and taught us everything from basic programming in R and Python, basic data analysis, statistics before moving on to machine learning models.I decided to go with the academy because of its AMAZING alumni network. Before signing up, I reached out to alumni working in the industry and a really large number of them got back to me and even had long calls with me to give me the pros and cons of joining. This was reassuring as it shows the networking culture instilled in students at the academy. After graduating, the academy has also been really useful at helping students land job and the academy introduced me to my current employer. Finally the NYCDSA really sets itself in a different class of bootcamps because of how helpful the instructors and admins are at ensuring the student's success.
