A bootcamp with great information at a affordable price. If you're thinking of a bootcamp, I'd suggest Nucamp. Make sure you dedicate time to study and complete code challenges. If you do not commit the time, the information is harder to understand because it is fast paced. This is especially true for the Javascript weeks. Read less

After 20 years of administrative work, my husband and I brought our 4th child into this world, and she has special needs. Because of this, I need something that gives me both flexibility in schedule while maintaining financial security.  I have always enjoyed doing macros and querys and things in excel and always wanted to be able to write programs outside of excel which would make my life easier, so after determining that software or web development would meet the needs of my family, I agreed it could be fun. I started with the basics, and I would have to say YES! It was the right decision! I have thoroughly enjoyed learning the beginner concepts. I am moving forward with the Full Stack program and hope to find a position that fulfills my creativity while meeting my needs - it would be a dream come true if I could successfully do full time contract software engineering or web development. It was an interesting experience full of coding and sharing knowledge with magnificent teachers that were more like friends than teachers, so helpful and understanding and patient. For my case I was part of the web development bootcamp that not only as an absolute beginner gave me a strong base in the field, but also now I'm having the chance to practise what I learned in new projects and I'm able to learn new things by myself more effectively thanks to the skills that I acquired. When I entered Adalab I came from a pretty difficult personal and professional situation. I didn't feel I was growing where I was working and I wasn't doing what I loved so, in the end, and encouraged by some dev friends, I decided to change my life. Adalab was intense, was hard, but it was rewarding, challenging, special,... NuCamp's Web Development Fundamentals is very extensive for 4 weeks of coding. You learn quite a lot into HTML & CSS as an introduction / refresher. This then dives into JavaScript over the course of two weeks. Overall the course is very helpful, knowledgeable, and worth every penny. Read less

I am happy with my decision to join and complete the bootcamp at Texas A and M. I learned python, Django, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, MONGO-DB, and React JS. I challenged myself through quizzes, projects, and homework. I found support with my classmates and my mentor. The material covered in the bootcamp is verifiable and well researched. I was able to seek help with YouTube and with other tutors if I needed it. I have learned to be more patient with myself and to be consistent through the bootcamp. With the completion of the bootcamp, I may now apply for a career in biostatistics. I enrolled through the phone call with an administration at TAMUK and was placed in a cohort immediately. Before the program, I did not know what to do with my life, I had just been let go from a previous job and felt dejected. Being in the bootcamp has made me empowered. I had some skills in coding, but now I have a plethora of skill sets. I am now ready to conquer and advance the field of computational science. Read less

The web dev program is great but not as an absolute beginner. Its honestly best to go in with as much knowledge as you can because this program will help you put that to better use. Of course, Covid-19 definitely changed how the course performed which is understandable but over all it was a great experience to go through. My instructor, Farish, was extremely helpful in that he does not have a huge ego leading the course and in also helping students. The T.A.s were also extremely helpful. From my experience thus far, nobody wants to see you fail. 

I would say that one of the down sides is that some of the content can be a bit overwhelming to learn but I suppose that varies with each individual learning it.  Read less

 

Teaching: WebDev Camp is obviously very different from university teaching methods. Firstly, we worked straight away on a 'real' solution. There was no 'faffing about'. Secondly, the feedback loop is much quicker as Torsten is always present to answer question when we are too stuck. At the same time, there is enough room to think for yourself and learn by yourself - which is a good skill to have. You also get to develop a lot of your people skills as you work and live together throughout the duration of the course.

Setting: the camp is in the middle of the woods, with many lakes near by. It is absolutely magical. The camp's large garden is also something out of a fairytale. It even has a little waterfall. 

Webdev Camp is probably the most relaxing, albeit intensive bootcamp of web development. You get to destress in the traditional Finnish sauna in the evening or go for a short hike during the breaks. Last but not least you will be near the picturesque village of Fiskars.

I heard about WebDev Bootcamp through Facebook and thought that it was an intriguing opportunity. The camp is located in the pleasant countryside of Finland, presenting me with the ability to experience something different, that would provide me with an experience that could set me apart from others and allow me to expand my horizons.

 

I was able to speak to Torsten Ruger, who runs the camp. He proved to be a very charming fellow and very knowledgeable about the subject manner. He had been a coder for over 20 years professionally, and really impressed me with his passion for coding and his desire to help people develop into their best selves.

 

WebDev is a program premised on the combination of nature and innovation. Student code in the Finnish countryside, a coding retreat that allows students an immersive environment in which the singular focus can be on the coding and your personal development.  Some of the bootcamps I researched were run like mills that had little regard for the students’ personal development.

 

There is something beautiful and unique about what is being done at WebDev. I am excited to be part of something that is good full of good energy and that offers something so valuable at a reasonable rate. But what sets WebDev apart is the sense of community, that it is something that is being built together from the ground up. That is where true innovation comes from.
