Victory Lap

I was first introduced to Victory Lap when I was actually recruiting for chicago software sales candidates in a previous role. Many of my candidates and tech clients had mentioned they were utilizing VL as a resource so when I was looking to transition out of my role in the recruitment industry I called them up. Not only were they extremely responsive, but they also changed the course of my sales career! 

As an SDR/BDR candidate trying to stand out from the competition in the Chicago tech sales landscape, a VL education and stamp of approval is extremely valuable. Unlike agency recruiters, VL provides a classroom-based education to prepare you for a career in sales. Topics ranged from cold calling, objection handling, interview prep, the psychology of sales, resume prep, pipeline building, email writing, etc. 

After our training, hiring managers were invited in for a talent showcase and each candidate pitched their backgrounds. From there we worked in tandem with the Victory Lap team to set up first round phone interviews with their talent partners. I worked extremely close with Kevin during this interview process and he was extremely helpful in dissecting my thoughts post-interviews and ultimately helped me narrow down my options until I found the perfect fit.

“Before going through Victory Lap, I spent 10+ years in public education as a teacher and assistant principal.  While I absolutely loved my time as an educator (nothing will ever beat the joy of seeing kids succeed), I found that my priorities and goals were changing and I wanted to expand myself beyond education. Victory Lap has taught me the ins and outs of the sales world and has put me eons ahead of those who have not had formal sales training. The course load varies from week to week but is definitely manageable. There are three Zoom meetings per week, one of which is mandatory (but I'd recommend going to all three because the practice is very helpful). My instructor Steve has hands down been one of the best teachers I've ever had. He sacrifices his personal time to help his students outside of the Zoom meeting time if necessary. Victory Lap also has specific career coaches who walk you through interviewing and tailoring your resume to sales jobs because at the end of the day, if you don't get a job then they don't get paid. Everyone is extremely nice and knowledgeable with backgrounds in sales and I think its the perfect bootcamp for anyone, no matter your knowledge in sales. Read less

I had high hopes. I really did, but I ended up with nothing. It's been months and I have no job. Nagieb spoke to me as though this was a highly regarded institution. Thought through this I could finally change jobs, and all I received was disappointment. There weren't lessons on CRM. Only one session that focused on job search. It feels like a rip off and now I'm in more debt. Don't become a part of this.

When Nicholas, their instructor, offered tutoring, I booked multiple appointments. Sought to ensure that my final assignment was excellent. It wasn't until he was 10 minutes late that he decided to cancel. Yes, you heard that right. I didn't hear anything and then suddenly he cancels minutes into our session. Does that sound professional?

Having one alumnus speaking to us may sound good. But, if so many students graduated, why aren't we hearing from them? Why aren't they going out of their way to reach out to the current students? Why aren't more sharing their success stories?

I feel like I have to start all over again because of these guys. My time feels wasted.  Read less

Victory lap really helped me out when going through an interview slump.   They prepped me on interviews as well as taught me invaluable skills to get me back on my game for the sales world moving forward.  I would recommend this to anyone looking to starting a sales career or even trying to brush up their skills.
