I was looking to change careers. I've been working as an assembler in manufacturing for about 20 years and wanted more flexibility. I was interested in marketing but lacked the skills to feel confident about pursuing it. At a friend's suggestion, I looked into boot camps and discovered the UofT SCS Digital Marketing Boot Camp. I was impressed by the curriculum, which offered every topic I could imagine related to a career in digital marketing, from social media, organic search, paid ads to CRMs and automation.

The instructor was fantastic, very knowledgeable, patient, and ensured everyone understood the topics. The topics were covered in-depth, there were many real-world examples, walkthroughs showing how different platforms and software worked, like WordPress, Google Analytics, Facebook and LinkedIn Ads, etc., and assignments to apply our knowledge. They showed us how to pull data and analyze campaign metrics to help determine performance. This program is intense with new modules almost every week, module assignments and two group projects. At the same time, it's amazing how much I've learned in such a short amount of time.

I took up the "Data Analytics and Visualization" bootcamp to upskill myself. I have some basic knowledge of what the field would look like and I was ready to put in the hours. The one thing which helped me a lot was the simplified outlay of the bootcamp. I knew which module would be targeted and learning concepts were provided beforehand for me to get a better grip on concepts. A huge shoutout to the bootcamp instructor Bharadwaj (Bharat) Janarthanan and TAs Divya and Sunil for their unwavering support and guidance throughout the course. This course is fast paced (as most concepts are covered withing a 6 month period but the groundwork laid by the coursework is excellent. I joined the Data Analytics Bootcamp with University of Toronto in August 2023. My reason to join was to upskill myself to join the industry back after a long career gap. Although the course was very fast-paced and rigorous it covered a wide variety of topics in a very organized manner. I loved the fact that there was help available 24X7 with resources like AskBCS, Tutor Sessions, office hours. This course gave me the confidence boost I needed to re-launch my career. Embarking on the journey of the 12-week Full Stack coding bootcamp has undoubtedly been one of the most impactful decisions I've made in my life. I thoroughly enjoyed the course. The rich knowledge shared by the instructor, Mark and TAs, Bertram & Ravina was unparalleled. As a full time employee, I was very skeptical when I joined this course, and wasn't positive I'd be able to manage my time well, while I struggle learning new concepts. I am hoping to make a career change and this was a stepping stone towards that change. It was a very intense endeavor and I gained both the theoretical as well as practical knowledge of cyber security. However, this knowledge and experience is not enough to sit for the Multiple Choice Questions format exam that is required to pass for the Security+ Examination. 
I strongly believe that the course should incorporate the practical aspect of how to sit for this exam in the real world.        Read less

Sharing here my great experience with University of Toronto SCS Full stack Coding Bootcamp online.
I worked in software test automation before I decided to take this bootcamp full stack development course.
My previous coding experience helped me to scale up and transition easily to understand the development course.
My favourite aspects of the UofT SCS Coding Boot Camp Online program are
 1. Well crafted the course design and modules are examples: The gradual introduction of concepts and the building of larger concepts upon smaller ones is an effective teaching method that allows for better comprehension and understanding.
 2. The weekly challenges also seem to have played a significant role in keeping you engaged and motivated throughout the course, as they provided opportunities to apply your knowledge and create your own projects.
 3. In class: The hands-on approach during class, where the tutor explains concepts and allows for immediate practical application, is undoubtedly beneficial for better understanding and the ability to clarify any doubts on the spot.
My advice to prospective students will be to have a passion for development, embracing challenges, and dedicating extra study time outside of class hours are crucial for making the most of the course. My own experience of completing numerous projects in different topics speaks to the effectiveness of this approach.The bootcamp instilled great confidence to take up development work later. Like many others, I diligently researched and read reviews before enrolling, and I can confidently say that I have never been prouder of my decision. The enrollment process itself was remarkably smooth, and from the moment I spoke to the admission officer until graduation in August , 2023, my journey has been and will be celebrated and nurtured with unwavering support, valuable insights, and an incredibly conducive learning environment.

From the application to the graduation process, I want to say that everyone in the back-end of this journey helped so much make this an amazing experience. I have registered for the UofT Data Analytics Bootcamp - the course was well laid out with Excel and VBA being the first step into the topic. Every week is a new topic, and looking back, 3/4 of the module I was going through the online material in advance before attending lectures. As simple as this was, it really helped me understand the course material and take my time with assignments and homework.
An advice I would give to new students would be not to slack - trust me on that. If you miss a week or a day lecture, it will be hard to catch up (but not impossible!) and the ripple effect is severe. Make sure that before you apply, that you are conscious of the time commitment for the next 6 months, it is intense but the reward and what you learn through this course is so helpful - I keep saying, it's like school but you can apply everything you do readily in the workplace, and side projects you may have going on.
The professor/instructor and the supporting TAs were amazing and always helpful and hands-on on the slack channel if you're running into issues with the material. There was also a great resource called AskBCS which is a 24/7 support that you can ask questions regarding the course material or if you're stuck on assignments. With e-learning, I think the course is fully rounded and well structured to provide the students with what they need. 
And the best part also, you get to work with other amazing peeps for your capstone project at the end. Sharing of knowledge, making friends and who knows, a potential contact that can help our for a future opportunity!  Read less

I just completed the full stack coding Bootcamp focusing on MERN stack. I can absolutely say this has been the best investment I have made in a long time. Keeping in mind I have completed two Bachelor's degrees prior to enrolling and obtaining this certification, I truly found my passion for coding even more through being surrounded by such incredibly talented, and like-minded individuals. My experience was very interactive and engaging. We had a wonderful student success manager, Kyla Dhanraj, who always ensured student feedback is taken into account and that they have a voice in their boot camp experience. Our instructor, Sal Hobbi is an incredibly talented engineer. He made this short time we had an incredible experience full of enlightening moments. He ensured we truly gained the experience we need by treating like like junior engineers and ensuring we knew the fundamental technical concepts, collaborating with teams, version control, and most importantly, how to become better learners. Our teaching assistants, Brian Samuels, Mark Alfano, and Stephen Fudge each had their own strength and worked so well with each other, they truly understood what we needed in our Bootcamp since they've gone through this experience and know how to tackle issues we faced as a cohort. Lastly, how could I forget the incredible tutoring I received weekly to help me succeed thanks to my incredibly talented, and patient tutor, Scott Everett. Having weekly tutor sessions was essential for someone like me with no prior coding experience. A lot if things I learned were so foreign, I really benefitted from having someone beside me at least for the beggining of each module to assure me of my direction. When I ran into syntax issues there was a 24/7 support service to handle syntax errors. These support workers were also incredibly helpful. Before enrolling in this program, I had just graduated from my Nutrition program and was working in healthcare. I quickly learned that it wasn't something I was truly passionate about, so I started to look for ways to transition into UX Design. What drew me in was the creativity and flexibility offered in this field. Ultimately, I came across UofT's UX Design BootCamp and enrolled! 

My favorite aspect of the BootCamp was attending office hours for extra support on my design work. I loved getting feedback on my work and learning new ways to design. For me, building those connections was the highlight of this program. 

My advice to prospective students is: "what you take out of this Bootcamp depends on what you put in. It's a blend of hard work, consistency, and luck!" The overall quality of this Bootcamp is excellent as it delivers what it is supposed to. The best part about it is the quality of most TAs is very high and they are eager to help us when we encounter difficulties. Some areas for improvement in terms of the pace of the topics should be modified as the amount of time needed for learning CSS should not be the same as learning React. Read less
