TrueCoders is a full-stack software development Bootcamp that offers an intensive full-time 45-week schedule or a self-paced schedule. The full-time 45-week schedule is a live online course, while the self-paced version allows students the ability to take the course when it is convenient for them. The self-paced schedule is a great option for students who need to retain their full-time jobs but still want a career change. Students of either schedule have the ability to receive unlimited one-on-one support from instructors and career services.
TrueCoders offers 2 different courses: Full-Stack Software Engineering and Full-Stack Web Development. The software engineering course covers C#, .NET Core, the ASP.NET MVC framework, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, relational databases like SQL, WebKit-based debuggers, and basic working knowledge of networking and file permissions. The web development course covers, Node.JS, Express.JS, React.JS, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, relational databases like SQL, hosting web applications using Heroku and GitHub pages, FlexBox design, and Webpack bundling. TrueCoders also specializes in source control and students will receive in-depth instruction on git CLI and GitHub in either class.
TrueCoders aims to provide new coders with the tools needed to find a position in the digital job market including marketable skills, career navigation, and a support community. TrueCoders is meant for career switchers and those with no prior programming experience who wish to enter the tech industry. The application process for both classes begins by scheduling an interview online. A member of their staff will soon follow up with a call.
Before graduation, TrueCoders prepares their students for the job market by improving their resumes, helping them create networking opportunities, and hosting practice interviews. TrueCoders also focuses on communication skills and teaches students how to leverage connections they may have in the tech industry (including fellow students). After graduation, the TrueCoders placement team works with graduates to make introductions, set up interviews, coaching before interviews sending out job applications.

Trust the Process - Fast Paced Class
One thing that I continually reminded myself of throughout the course, was “trust the process”. I perpetually felt out of my depth in the early stages, due to how intense it was and how much information I was trying to fit in my brain in such a short space of time.
As time went on though, things got easier and started to make more sense. This was helped by lead instructor Michael Doyle who was extremely patient, respectful and genuinely wanted to see his students succeed.

There are only a few things I would change.....Better assessment of student's skills prior to the class starting. For instance, students with very little coding knowledge should definately consider the 6 month evening class. Also, I spent countless hours outside of class studying on my own with youtube videos.
At the beginning of the 9 weeks, I never anticipated being in the position I would be at the end of it and completing a final project with people that I genuinely enjoyed working with. I have been to multiple bootcamps to learn programming and I can say with certainty that TrueCoders is my favorite because of the teacher and the learning environment. Worth it, but needs changes
TrueCoders was worth going through. We learned a lot of different and helpful concepts and they were always there to help whether it was job information or one on one time. It was definitely worth doing because my knowledge has expanded, and everyone there cares about you. But there are several things I would change with how they go about this. Also, PLEASE take what I say from the perspective of someone that has a difficult time in school (slow learner), new to coding, and has difficult...TrueCoders was worth going through. It was definitely worth doing because my knowledge has expanded, and everyone there cares about you. But there are several things I would change with how they go about this. Also, PLEASE take what I say from the perspective of someone that has a difficult time in school (slow learner), new to coding, and has difficulty with creativity.
1. The 1 on 1 time (after class) is only 15 minutes, which is difficult to understand a concept you're struggling with in that amount of time. It can rush the teacher and the student and sometimes I felt just as lost coming out of it.
2. After learning one (sometimes two) concepts a day, we would only be given one exercise per concept to put what we learned into practice. I feel there should be more daily exercises from the beginning that would help us learn how to navigate through all the variations that can happen with each concept. We did have weekly challenges after several weeks of class that did this to a degree, but I think having challenges start from the beginning will be more helpful... so that if someone doesn't understand a concept early on, then it can be fixed sooner rather than later.
3. I felt lost on how to come up with new code on my own to practice my skills and concepts that I learned. Often, I felt that the best way I could do this was by finding Youtube videos and spending a lot of time outside of class trying to figure it out on my own. I understand that a lot of learning is trial and error and looking things up for yourself, especially in a 9-week program, but I did pay a lot of money for someone to teach me how to code, and I often felt they would lean on the fact that I can look stuff up for myself and self-teach. Not to say this isn't a good thing for some students, just not for me.
Overall, I would give TrueCoders 3 1/2 stars, because this is a place that does care about you and will do a lot for you if you ask, and you do learn important things to help you with code and job hunting. Why Spend 16K?
I was enrolled set to start another coding bootcamp, and having to withdraw. The setback was a blessing in disguise as I found this bootcamp. I researched many boot camps and ended up settling on TrueCoders due to the cost initially, but I was really swayed by the way they were willing to work with me before the class even started. I wasn't sure if I would be going back to work and so I was apprehensive about spending the money, but they assured me they would help me finish the course no matter what. This class was more than worth the money spent. Hard, but definitely worth it.
This is going to be a struggle if you're not sure what to expect. It was complicated for me at first simply because I underestimated the course. The workload was perfect, the curriculum was well developed, and the approach to pursuing a career afterwards was strategic and professional. I was a part of Alpha class and my experience overall was very good. I had no prior programming experience and started with literally zero knowledge. The curriculum was very good as it structured around methods and practices that were relevant to the workplace. The instructors we had were tough, and challenged us to learn the information in a short amount of time to be qualified for the positions we desired. Changed my life!
I was a part time employee at Wawa with aspirations to one day code for a living. when I heard about TrueCoders I decided to take the jump and see if I could learn how to code (something that seemed to complex to me) in such a short amount of time, and learn it well.
To my surprise, 4 months from the start of my course I was hired as a software developer at Proplogix coding in C#, Js, Ts, (and using the HTML and SQL skills I was as well) and have been with my company for over a year....I was a part time employee at Wawa with aspirations to one day code for a living. when I heard about TrueCoders I decided to take the jump and see if I could learn how to code (something that seemed to complex to me) in such a short amount of time, and learn it well.

Making You Marketable
Programming had been a hobby of mine since high school, but I never did much with it. When I decided to change careers, I needed help rounding out my skills to become marketable. TrueCoders was a great experience for me, and I'd recommend them to anyone who wants to learn marketable programming skills, particularly for "backend" things like SQL and .NET Core. It's also great that they cover Git and GitHub, but where they really shine is helping you market yourself and being your advocate...Programming had been a hobby of mine since high school, but I never did much with it. TrueCoders was a great experience for me, and I'd recommend them to anyone who wants to learn marketable programming skills, particularly for "backend" things like SQL and .NET Core. I'm now working for a great company as a backend developer and loving it!
In light of COVID-19, I also want to say that programming can usually be done remotely, and the market for it is not going away any time soon. If you've been debating about changing careers, I think there's never been a better time to explore this. It won't be easy, but the most worthwhile things never are.
