School of Code

I recently completed the 16-week intensive bootcamp at the School of Code and it was an incredible experience. Throughout the program, I learned a vast array of technical and soft skills that have equipped me with a strong foundation for a career in tech.

One of the highlights was the opportunity to work on real-life projects with actual stakeholders, which provided invaluable practical experience. The program culminated in a demo day, where we showcased our projects to leading tech companies, giving us fantastic exposure and networking opportunities.

While the bootcamp is very challenging and requires a lot of hard work, perseverance truly pays off. The skills and knowledge I gained have been transformative, and I feel well-prepared to take on a tech career.

Highly recommend to anyone looking to break into the tech industry!

An excellent course (and it really isn't about code!) team work, problem solving and a new future. You will learn the basics in programming (HTML JS CSS NEXT JS REACT and much more!) mostly you will worked in teams living the agile approach. There is a chance to work on projects and demo the work you do to real employers. They support you with a job. You really couldnt find a friendlier bunch of people. It is hard work and it will be difficult at times but wow it really is the best thing I have ever done!

The staff is just amazing.
Coaches, admins and whoever else. Everyone has a great vibe and they really put their heart in it.

I cried when the official course ended.

I believe the curriculum, and the way it's presented, is strong, but, more importantly, it's the way we "learn how to learn" that makes the difference. After this bootcamp, I just feel confident picking up any role and any language because I know I will be able to feel comfortable with it in no time.

I don't have any golden dream in regards to when I will get a job though.
I mean, the support so far it's been amazing, but we're 90 candidates being thrown into a market that always feel saturated.
I know it will take months, but I'm up for it.

Like most of the industry, they work in an agile mode.
That means some part of the curriculum might change on the fly, which is not great for the users (a.k.a. the bootcampers) given it's not the same as having Twitter test out a new feature on the next update. But I suppose ups and downs are always expected.

Teamwork is a great component of the bootcamp (as well as the industry), but it's definitely not everyone's cup of tea.
Sadly, that's just a matter of luck, so pray you've always going to get cool teammates. :)

Ultimately, I feel lucky for having been chosen by them.
I tried 42 for a bit before applying for SoC and I won't recommend that to anyone.

School of Code is what you want to going for instead if you're ready to work hard for a bit.
I would also highly advise to have a foundation of web development before joining. It makes a huge difference, especially in the most stressful weeks.

The bootcamp has been a lifechanging experience! Every student was kind and supportive, everyone sharing the same passion and desire to learn! It was amazing learning with them, supported by the great team who works so hard to support each student! I admire and appreciate each person working at the school of code for the work they put every day to support us in achieving our goals and dreams! The curriculum is amazing, learning 360 degrees about products and how to create a user interface, creating a full stack app and learning how to work in a team, being present for one another and achieve goals united!

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the bootcamp and I wish it could've been longer! Coding is, of-course, a challenging subject; but the coaches did an excellent job with good pace, clear explanations, and endless patience. The structured format not only enhanced my technical skills but also fostered significant interpersonal growth. This course introduces you to people from diverse backgrounds, providing a refreshing and enriching experience. Weekly collaboration with new teammates and hackathons added a dynamic aspect to the learning process. The accelerated nature of the course is beneficial, and discovering effective learning methods and relying on the incredible support from mentors and peers is crucial. My bootcamp experience was transformative, pushing me out of my comfort zone while providing a safe space for mistakes without fear of judgment, thanks to the cohort's supportive environment. The mentorship from industry professionals and insightful guest talks, ranging from current leaders to past bootcampers, added immense value. Each talk left me with valuable lessons, contributing to my learning journey. There were occasional moments of disorganisation, though minor in the grand scheme. Overall, this has been a valuable and, dare I say, life-changing experience. The course extends beyond coding, as it imparts essential people skills invaluable for both personal and professional development, while also instilling resilience and a problem-solving mindset. This course is my starting point in the tech journey, and I couldn't have navigated this field as a self-taught individual. I highly recommend this course for career changers venturing into the world of tech!

The School of Code has created a unique learning environment for their bootcamp. There is a special culture that has been created between the organisers, coaches and is reflected in the bootcampers themselves. Each person is valued and encouraged to learn quickly by the structures that are in place. Mistakes are encouraged and viewed as learning opportunities. The course is intense and each week at least one new topic is covered. There are also mindset sessions, talks from industry and past boot campers to add value and variety to the days. Each boot camper is assigned a mentor to support and guide learning. A vast library of resources is used to support learning which would have been difficult to discover on my own. I was initially surprised by the emphasis on problem solving first and writing code second but after having been through the bootcamp,  I now understand why. If this is something that you are even a little bit curious about then I would definitely recommend using the School of Code as your choice of course to aid entry onto the career pathway. 

I loved every second of my time with The School of Code, and I was very fortunate to have been chosen for a place on their 14th bootcamp. They provided such a fantastic opportunity for networking and upskilling; it's incredible to think that we pay nothing for it. I have gone from knowing basically nothing about coding to having a firm grasp of the entire software development lifecycle. It has ignited a new passion in me, and I am eager to continue my learning journey professionally and recreationally. Everyone I met was friendly and great to work with. The coaches were highly knowledgeable and explained things clearly whilst also working hard to provide us with a positive and enjoyable experience. I never felt alone with the amount of support I had, including that of my SoC-provided mentor who was a life-saver on many occasions. SoC places great emphasis on feedback, so anything that could be improved gets better fast.After completing their bootcamp, I feel much better equipped to secure a good job where I will not only feel safe but also excel, especially with the full and constant support of their employability team and the array of employer partners whose job roles we get exclusive access to for a month. I cannot thank SoC enough.

For anyone out there who is unsure whether to get themselves out of their comfort zone, learn new things, and work with a group of like-minded individuals – go for it. I applied to The School of Code late 2022 and just completed the 16-week bootcamp (March – June 2023). It was a life-changing experience. I am currently in the process of applying for roles and the post-bootcamp support has been really supportive so far. I am confident I will find a role for me to continue my learning journey in tech. The bootcamp itself is fast-paced and you cover a lot of topics, but the coaches are so supportive and do everything they can to make sure you are enjoying the process and are engaging with the range of content. This bootcamp is fabulously collaborative – you’re with a different group each week which really helps you stay engaged with the process. You get to meet a whole range of individuals from different walks of life, but you all share the same love for problem solving and creating things to solve real world problems. Chris and The School of Code team are brilliant at what they do. Don’t hesitate, just apply.

The school of code is not for the weak minded. If you want an easy way into tech this is not the place for you. However, If you’re looking to push yourself and test your capabilities look no further. This is a challenge like no other. The days will be hard and will require sacrifice. But if you are lucky enough to be accept into the school of code, they will be your best days. You will learn to become comfortable being uncomfortable.You will be surrounded and learn amongst some of the hardest working individuals. You will become part of a community like no other. You will come out the other side a whole new skilled, confident and competent individual. Ready to take on any challenge the tech industry has to offer you. 

I can describe my time at the School of Code as a truly fascinating and life-changing experience . This is a very intense bootcamp that requires your full commitment. 16 weeks program is aimed at teaching you how to become a full stack web developer. You will learn modern technologies and best practices on how to build full stack web applications. You will also learn how to learn which will enable you to progress your journey in all possible ways. Couches are totally supportive, proactive and professional. School of Code creates the most friendly atmosphere for everyone to feel welcome and supported. The learning journey is accompanied by fun and engaging energisers. Not only one learns here how to become a developer, School of Code also teaches you invaluable soft skills that is going to assist you in interviews, presentations, public speaking and confidence. And all of that is absolutely free. I highly recommend School of Code. Excellent opportunity to become a first class developer, network and find new friends.

It has been 3 months since being placed into a junior software engineer role all thanks to the school of code. Just a year ago I was driving vans for a living!

I am so glad I decided to take the plunge and apply for the bootcamp, the curriculum was well structured and tailored to what is currently in demand within the industry. People say you can go down the self taught route, but you could easily end up overwhelmed and end up in a huge rabbit hole with the amount of information that is available online. School of Code were there to give me that push in the right direction with constant support from the coaches and fellow students.

I'd never written a line of code before I joined the bootcamp and can't believe how much I have learnt in the last 4 months. A fantastic experience with a well thought out curriculum including HTML, CSS, JavaScript and React JS.  I loved the support you received throughout the course, not only from the tutors and other bootcampers, but mentors, enablement coaches and guest speakers. An encouraging community, that continues beyond the 16-week course. Highly recommend the School of Code, they've changed my life.

An incredibly rewarding experience. Given the chance to work with new people from all walks of life everyday. Building things, solving problems and really understanding how tech works! The course is varied from UX/UI design to backend sever development with, soft skills, mindset modules and industry talks too! It was very well-rounded, engaging and easy to get out of bed for! I've met some amazing people and learnt some life-changing skills and this is just the beginning to a new found career in tech. Thank you School of Code for this experience - I will never forget it!

I've been working as a croupier for 10 years.
school of code helps me to swap from 'zero' experience in tech in general to have familiarity with APIs, Html, CSS, Javascript, Node.js, Databases, Testing, Agile Methodology, Figma, Atlassian(Jira), Miro Board, low/high fidelity Wireframe software and so many other things. 
Even now I'm surprised that I understand all of these things and I'm able to produce something with them.
All those things from November to March(if you take of the festivity and weekend we are talking about 3 months maybe?).
All school of code team(teacher and colleagues ) are there to help you solve any difficulties you will counter, like a big family.
Remember at the school of code there are no stupid questions and you will always find someone ready to support you.

Sorry if some part doesn't make sense but I learn more code in 3 months than English in 10 years 🤣🤣

Without this bootcamp I should be now still working hard by my own self in the tutorial hell of YouTube's coding channel. It brings me opportunities to work with different kinds of people in U.K. and has hands-on pair programming experience, not to mention the clear explanation of web development technologies concept by every coach. This bootcamp is not just a regular coding course, once you are a bootcamper you are always a part of The School Of Code family, which means you are still in connection with all the coaches and bootcampers. In addition, SOC partnership companies will provide job opportunities for us, and every bootcamper is capable of applying as many jobs as they wish. These two reasons provide us an extremely safe environment to switch our career and get into tech, and put 100% effort in our learning.

I couldn't recommend this enough. I went from being able to write a few lines of HTML, CSS and Javascript, to being able to write full stack applications using modern frameworks like React. My skills and confidence have increased immensely and I feel ready to tackle the upcoming interviews and start my new career. 
It's not just about the code, it's about the whole experience of working with other bootcampers in teams of different sizes, first starting on small challenges and workshops and then moving on to  bigger projects. It's about the community, not just the individual.
