Amazing full-circle course
Amazing course content for the SQL with Python course. Learning the basics of SQL and then utilizing what we learned about databases to create fully interactive programs from client to server was fantastic. A Great Start
I came to Nucamp with almost zero experience in web development. Nu camp leaves much to be desired
Nucamps pricing and material leave much to be desired.
I have attended both 2U & Bloc bootcamps for softwate dev & ux design previously. I have also done self guided youtube learning, bought udemy courses and have a subscription to code academy. My hope waa that Nucamp would be a middle ground.

I was planning on attending nucamps fundamentals & backend course as a way to sharpen up my skills after working a less technical, but related role in software development for three years. After the first day of looking at materials decided to cancel.
When cancelling they kept over $100 from both registrations as a registration fee even though I had not attended any classes. Customer servicr is handled by a third party service based in India.
The course material is primarily self guided with one day a week used to review lesson material. The material is simple checks and reviews with some larger projects.
In my opinion, you're better off watching Traversy & others on YouTube, buying courses from Udemy & joining codeacademy.
Also, it currently seems impossible to stop emails from coming Ive unsubscribed, and marked as spam but I keep getting emails.
Save your money for a real bootcamp or just do self guided learning.Stephanie of Nucamp

It feels a bit unfair to be reviewed based on a few minutes of looking over our curriculum and actually not participating at all in our bootcamp. Unfortunately, you missed most of what makes Nucamp unique:
- engaging with your dedicated instructor and classmates in your classroom,
- participating in your weekly live workshops,
- working on challenging assignments with your classmates, receiving feedback and a grade from your instructor, and learning from it,
- working on your portfolio project,
- leveraging our career services including 1:1 career coaching sessions,
- graduating.
We also do not have a "third party" team in India. Our support is handled in the US and is our own.

horrible, I had a rude instructor [name redacted]. The website is confusing at first. They don't have a code to compare your code to see where you made the mistake. I am very disappointed. Hello, and first let me say I'm sorry you feel that way about your experience. We have looked into the situation that led to your feedback and would like to clarify a few things that we hope will help with the remaining of your bootcamp if you choose to continue.
First, we understand that you wrote your review after the first couple of weeks of your bootcamp. We hope that the next weeks and following workshops will improve and that our response will help with that.
Regarding providing the finished code at the workshop, this is indeed something that we do not want to do as it would hurt the learning experience and the acquisition of coding skills. We offer finished code during the week as students practice, but the purpose of the end-of-week workshop is to force students to think critically about the code that needs to be written. Providing the finished code would go against that, and would be a disservice to the student learning journey.
You mentioned in another review that you could only attend 2 hours of the 4-hour workshop, and wanted to be given the finished code during these 2 hours. This made the situation more difficult to handle for the instructor. We looked at the feedback your instructor received while teaching your class and could not find an issue with it (4.8 out of 5 is considered excellent). We hope that you will be able to dedicate the full 4 hours for future workshops, we also advise you to study regularly each day.

It's made a difference
After about 2 years of self teaching and getting stuck in the same circle of learning something new - getting stuck - moving on to something else. I finally had enough. Value for money

Backend Development Course Review
I have a background working as a process engineer and manager in industrial software. I seen the shift from desktop to microservice and cloud architectures, and wanted to learn more about it and how to execute those projects.
I think it was the right decision for me. I had some background in python, which made the first 2 or 3 weeks of the course easy. But by the end of the first section, and definitely in the SQL and devops section, most if it was new to me.

The course covers a wide amount of material, without too much depth. I now have a good place to get started if I want to dive into certain technologies. I think the course overall had a good pace, a little fast but we got to cover a lot of material.
The instructors were knowledgeable, and had actual professional experience, which I really wanted to see.
Their tools and systems are streamlined. I liked that everyone is in the same time zone. Class sizes are good.
My only complaint is the exercises were a little too easy, and the portfolio project, while great for learning, is optional.
