    Northcoders review

Teaching is amazing, I felt so prepared and ready for any  techincal test. However, the job assistance given after is honestly embarrassing. They seem to give no care once they've got your money and you feel isolated and left to your own devices. They...

    Head of Careers

    Jul 17, 2020

Hi Alex, thank you so much for sharing your feedback.
It’s hard to hear your feedback that you felt the support we gave you to help you find work simply didn’t live up to your expectations – we were really delighted when you were made your job offers, even though it was a shame the one you chose didn’t work out at the time. As we’re sure you understand, it isn’t fair to our graduates looking for their first role to continue to set up further interviews for people going into their second roles, so this is part of our policy.
And you’re right, it has certainly been a challenging couple of months. There weren’t enough vacancies for every graduate to find work as fast as usual during COVID-19 and we acknowledge that our Careers Team were stretched. In response, we’ve repurposed our team members to focus on finding jobs, we’re creating a brand new library of resources to recent Northcoders Graduates do everything from build their personal brand to excelling at behavioural interviews, we’re putting in place systems to help you share their coding projects with businesses who may be hiring – to name a few. Simply put, nothing is a greater priority for us right now.
We do feel that after we graduated that we did every thing we could to provide you with all of the career support you needed, from extra 1-2-1 sessions we arranged for you with our Careers Mentors, to helping you with those drafts of your CV, to the personal coaching and mentoring sessions we provided before your interviews. Along with the the support we provided in the dozens of job applications you made through Northcoders and those that you made directly on your own. However, it looks like we were off the pulse of how you were really feeling, and we know finding work can be overwhelming, so we are sorry.
We are grateful for your feedback and sorry that our support fell short of your expectations. The good news is that we are starting to see improvements in the job market and we hope we can help you make the most of these new opportunities.

    Review of Northcoders

I was on the very first cohort back in April 2016. The course is intense, but incredibly well designed and exciting and left me feeling like I'd learned more than I had in 3 years of uni. I am still good friends with many people from the first cohort -...

Too much pair work, not enough support

You are told at the start there will be "a bit" of pair work, this couldn't be further from the truth. You will spend the majority of your time working with 1 other person on the course, this is made worse by the fact 9/10 of my partners were unhelpful...
