NEXT Academy

One of the most valuable courses i've taken. I feel much more confident providing marketing expertise to my company. High quality mentors and In-depth valuable content provided (own experiences). Post-module followup (able to communicate with mentors again for further questions). I only hope that the slides were more modulated with extra details which mentors usually go into (like a textbook). 

The bootcamp is hands-on and the mentors and the NEXT academy staff guides you through the whole course. I feel like I have learned so much within 5 weeks and it's not enough! There should be more classes! I also find that the environment (classmates/mentors/staff) is encouraging, motivating and everyone helps each other out :)

I am very happy with the way this journey turned out. I am really happy, but to keep it short, I wish we did more tutorials on javascript and ajax. Ajax on rails was somthing new we had to discover in the final project. I also wish that we had a day at the end after the presentations to reflect on our lessons in our projects.

Had a great time at NEXT Academy, 9 weeks that seemed to be as short as one month! Definitely a decision that requires a FULL COMMITMENT to get the maximum out of it ! Don't be fooled by the advertised schedule and be ready to work everyday until 10.00pm to redo/review what you did/learned during the day! (I did not and I regret it).

Mentors are always available and willing to help so raise your hand after (really) trying to figure out by yourself for 20 minutes.

I would also say that working with your team mates and changing partners really helps as it gives you different types of explanations !

Oh, the prepwork seems easy but make sure you understand what you did... Take notes during prep work !

Pros: I learned a lot for both frontend & backend of web development Good value for money IMHO provided student working hard

Mentors are awesome and attentive

Conclusion: If student work hard, they will find their stay at NextAcademy is a very rewarding one.

Thanks for NEXT giving this opportunity to learn web development and meet new ppl. It was sweet and sour throughout the weeks of bootcamp but the result was satisfying. Just hope that cam get a web developer job after graduating, preferably with the help from NEXT as well. 

1- The requirement and objective of this boot camp is not according to what the academy has advertised.

Obviously this boot camp is not suitable for those who has no basic knowledge of web design at all. Most of us has to struggle through or copy through our assessment or challenge. (most of the challege you could get it from online and it's FREE !

2-The studying environment was not friendly at all. 

There is no orientation there is no interaction between student. First day of class we already been divided into group in the class of 30 this minimise the chances of the slower learning student to form their study partner or group. In small group the 1-2 slower leaner were always being neglected . 

3-Inconsistent learning style from different mentor. 

Through my personnel observation I realised there were quite a number of mentor whom like to refer the student to "mr Google" when posted with question.Of course there were some good ones but they come and go .

In total the school should refrain from saying "no basic knowledge of the subject is required" .Normal web development courses take years to teach basic how can basic is not required for a 9 weeks camp and the boot camp doesn't conduct any basic teaching at all? 

It started with all challenge which required a certain level of basic knowledge in the subject to complete the challenge. With such advertising header , inconsistency in the coaching methods and overpriced school fees ,I really felt that my time & money had been wasted ！Not to mentioned they redirect us to FREE platform www.codecademy.com for challenge ! 

I wanted to jump on the tech bandwagon. I was sick and tired of my job at a bank. I tried some coding after work hours but was always frustrated at my progress. It was difficult juggling work and study.

I made a big decision 5 months back to join the April intake. I loved it. It definitely felt great to progress every single week. It was tough and I did struggle a lot. I spoke to my mentors a lot about the struggles and they were extremely helpful in making sure I learnt.

I also got to speak to many other developers who came for developer meetups. 90% of them told me that learning to code was hard even for them at the start. At the end though, I'm so glad I made it through the 9 weeks, all thanks to lots of determination and unseizing love and support from my mentors.

I spent more than USD100k and 4 years on my college education majoring in Finance and I feel like these 9 weeks and USD3000 spent was more satisfying and rewarding.

They have one of best mentors that are willing to help and guide you but not spoonfeed you. I personally think that it is the best way to learn. It was intense nevertheless but I can assure you if you put a lot more effort in it, you will excel with guidance from the mentor in the bootcamp. Ask questions and PRACTICE frequently, the mentors there are more than willing to help and guide you along the 9 weeks.

Furthermore, you will get more than coding experience and skills, you get to meet a lot of different people from different background while some of them are really passionate about coding which helps a lot if you guys practice coding and learn as a team.

Conclusion, i bet you wont regret joining the bootcamp, its one of the best if not the best coding bootcamp available in Malaysia.

Awesome bootcamp! The fundementals and curriculum were great, but the greatest part of the bootcamp were the mentors. They are relentless when it comes to helping. I remember one time I had a really bad bug that sprung in my app and it hit a gap in their knowledge. The mentors helped me in debugging the code till it was dinner time. Even when I wanted to go home they were still hard at work trying to solving it. Coders are sore losers by nature I guess. 

Is it perfect? I don't think so or if such a thing exist. But I think the most important aspect of any organization is the quality of people in it. And Next Academy has that in spades.
